Samsung has its new OMNIAHD, successor of Samsung OMNIA.

It was then first released for viewing at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona.

This is the first ever phone that’s capable of recording video in 720p HD. Filming in 720p is no good for and ordinary screen like we have for our mobile phones. And so Samsung came up of their OMNIAHD's 3.7'' touchscreen AMOLED display far more impressive and the best screen we have so far.

Samsung Omnia can post pictures up to 8.0-megapixel with a whooping package of WiFi, GPS device, HSDPA, and a choice of 16GB or 32GB on board memory. Prices, availability and the final specs shall soon be posted.

Polaroid PoGo on the GO

Polaroid have just announced the launch of the Polaroid PoGo, an instant digital camera and the first digital camera with built in printer available in the U.S. and Europe. Sorry Philippines but we can't have it here for now unless we go to U.S. to buy it.

A full feature digital camera that allows consumers to select from among digital photos on the camera. Full customization is allowed, well you can possibly crop, edit, and add some borders in less than no time. Definitely prints will be in its full bloom, 2x3inch prints.

Adobe tests Lightroom 2.1 with new SLR support

Adobe Systems has put out a Lightroom 2.1 release candidate that stamps out a number of bugs, improves performance in some cases, and adds support for several newer Nikon cameras.

As with the test version of the Camera Raw 4.6 and DNG Converter software released last week, the new software supports raw images from Nikon's midrange D90 and higher-end D700 SLRs, its top-end Coolpix P6000 compact camera, and Fujifilm's Finepix IS Pro camera, according to the Lightroom 2.1 release notes. (Updated 9:35 a.m. PDT Sept. 22 with the correct Nikon camera model number.)

The new version also improves rendering performance on 64-bit Intel-based Macs, handles some previously unworking raw images from Olympus cameras, fixes some rotation problems with Nikon raw images, gets rid of some memory leaks, takes care of some problems when transferring files to Photoshop, and fixes some metadata problems when importing libraries from Lightroom 1.4. Alas, if you've already upgraded your library from Lightroom 1.4 to 2.0, you'll have to run an Adobe-supplied script to enable proper inclusion of keywords when exporting photos. (So that's why some Flickr photos were missing keywords!)

And while you're at it, I highly recommend the Lightroom camera profiles software, also in testing, which in my opinion greatly improves photos' overall colors.

With this new support from Adobe System, is born for new software that would enhance the field of digital photography. This new Adobe Lightroom 2.1 that is now stable as they were saying. They released it with a trust that it will not fail them anymore fixed bugs regarding performance, and its added firmware will now boost the digital photography industry.

Nikon hits 24.5 megapixels with D3X

Though almost everything you need to know about the new Nikon D3X leaked Friday, the 24.5-megapixel dSLR Nikon dubs its "extreme professional" model formally debuts today, November 30. What didn't leak was the price: $7,999.95. Start saving your pennies now.

There's quite a bit of speculation as to how similar the sensor in the D3X is to that in the Sony Alpha DSLR-A900; Nikon says it's "a Nikon designed sensor" that may (or may not) be manufactured by Sony, which usually means they're pretty similar. However, the A900's sensor has a pixel pitch of 5.9 microns, while Nikon's is surprisingly smaller--5.49 microns. So, they're pretty much different sensors, with different performance characteristics. The D3X's sensitivity range runs from ISO 100 to ISO 1600, with a Lo 1 of ISO 50 and Hi 1 and 2 of ISO 3200 and ISO 6400. The camera will also offer a 5:4 (8x10) crop mode at 20.4 megapixels, along with the same 10.5-megapixel DX crop mode as the D3, and support.

With all that extra data to process, it's no surprise that the D3X isn't quite the speed demon the D3 is for burst shooting, though 5 frames per second at full resolution is certainly zippy enough for most. (Nikon didn't provide info on the number of frames, however.)

The rest--body, AF system, viewfinder, and Expeed image processor--is all identical to the D3, and Nikon claims you should expect similar performance. It's also compatible with the D3's accessories.

Pitting the D3X against the Canon EOS-1Ds Mark III when the Nikon becomes available in late December will certainly make my cold winter days a little more interesting.

I have a mouth thirst when it comes to DSLR. I am a frustrated and photographer wanna be. I wanna have this kind of gizmo as I shoot some smiles and actions as I move into the wild.

The making of Ethanol 'superbug'

From these beakers to your gas tank. A few years ago, the idea of cellulosic ethanol--making liquid fuel from wood, grasses, and agriculture residue--was a foreign concept to most. Now many consumers, industrialists, and policy makers consider making cellulosic ethanol on a commercial scale one of the most important technical challenges for society.

Mascoma is one company in the race, with what it hopes is a breakthrough in cellulosic ethanol through biotechnology.

General Motors invested in the company earlier this year and on Friday named its director of global energy systems R&D to Mascoma's board. On Friday, Mascoma also opened up its lab in Dartmouth, N.H., to describe its technology and report on its progress.
