that did not have subsequent calls to free:

==2116== 100 bytes in 1 blocks are definitely lost in loss record 1 of 1
by a call to malloc in main, but we don’t have the line number. The problem is that we didn’t compile
using the -g option of gcc, which adds debugging symbols. So if we recompile with debugging symbols,
we get the following, more useful, output:

==2330== 100 bytes in 1 blocks are definitely lost in loss record 1 of 1
Well, certainly not the people being interviewed anyway. You have to be on your best behavior, you only get one chance to get it right, and it's like taking your driving test all over again. Over the years I've been to countless interviews. To get my first job out of college I attended some 15-20 interviews a week. Whether it was in Britain or over here in the States, the questions never really seemed to change from job to job. Not only that, but the answers to them are usually the same, with your own personal interpretation of course. Here I present 23 questions you're likely to be asked, and how I have learned to answer them. Why 23? Because I had more than 20 and less than 25. Remember, being interviewed is a skill, and if you do the preparation you should ace it every time. It's probably the most asked question because it sets the stage for the interview and it gets you talking. Be careful not to give the interviewer your life story here. You don't need to explain everything from birth to present day. Relevant facts about education, your career and your current life situation are fine.

2. Why are you looking (or why did you leave you last job)?

This should be a straightforward question to answer, but it can trip you up. Presumably you are looking for a new job (or any job) because you want to advance your career and get a position that allows you to grow as a person and an employee. It's not a good idea to mention money here, it can make you sound mercenary. And if you are in the unfortunate situation of having been downsized, stay positive and be as brief as possible about it. If you were fired, you'll need a good explanation. But once again, stay positive.

3. Whether it's being the VP of marketing or the mailroom clerk, you should know about the company or business you're going to work for. Has this company been in the news lately? Who are the people in the company you should know about? Do the background work, it will make you stand out as someone who comes prepared, and is genuinely interested in the company and the job.

4. Why do you want to work at X Company?

This should be directly related to the last question. Any research you've done on the company should have led you to the conclusion that you'd want to work there. After all, you're at the interview, right? Put some thought into this answer before you have your interview, mention your career goals and highlight forward-thinking goals and career plans.

5. What relevant experience do you have?

Hopefully if you're applying for this position you have bags of related experience, and if that's the case you should mention it all. But if you're switching careers or trying something a little different, your experience may initially not look like it's matching up. That's when you need a little honest creativity to match the experiences required with the ones you have. People skills are people skills after all, you just need to show how customer service skills can apply to internal management positions, and so on.

6. If your previous co-workers were here, what would they say about you?

Ok, this is not the time for full disclosure. If some people from your past are going to say you're a boring A-hole, you don't need to bring that up. Stay positive, always, and maybe have a few specific quotes in mind. "They'd say I was a hard worker" or even better "John Doe has always said I was the most reliable, creative problem-solver he'd ever met."

7. Have you done anything to further your experience?

This could include anything from night classes to hobbies and sports. If it's related, it's worth mentioning. Obviously anything to do with further education is great, but maybe you're spending time on a home improvement project to work on skills such as self-sufficiency, time management and motivation.

8. Where else have you applied?

This is a good way to hint that you're in demand, without sounding like you're whoring yourself all over town. So, be honest and mention a few other companies but don't go into detail. The fact that you're seriously looking and keeping your options open is what the interviewer is driving at.

9. How are you when you're working under pressure?

Once again, there are a few ways to answer this but they should all be positive. You may work well under pressure, you may thrive under pressure, and you may actually PREFER working under pressure. If you say you crumble like aged blue cheese, this is not going to help you get your foot in the door.

10. What motivates you to do a good job?

The answer to this one is not money, even if it is. You should be motivated by life's noble pursuits. You want recognition for a job well done. You want to become better at your job. You want to help others or be a leader in your field.

11. What's your greatest strength?

This is your chance to shine. You're being asked to explain why you are a great employee, so don't hold back and stay do stay positive. You could be someone who thrives under pressure, a great motivator, an amazing problem solver or someone with extraordinary attention to detail. If your greatest strength, however, is to drink anyone under the table or get a top score on Mario Kart, keep it to yourself. The interviewer is looking for work-related strengths.

12. What's your biggest weakness?

If you're completely honest, you may be kicking yourself in the butt. If you say you don't have one, you're obviously lying. This is a horrible question and one that politicians have become masters at answering. They say things like "I'm perhaps too committed to my work and don't spend enough time with my family." Oh, there's a fireable offense. I've even heard "I think I'm too good at my job, it can often make people jealous." Please, let's keep our feet on the ground. If you're asked this question, give a small, work-related flaw that you're working hard to improve. Example: "I've been told I occasionally focus on details and miss the bigger picture, so I've been spending time laying out the complete project every day to see my overall progress."

13. Let's talk about salary. What are you looking for?

Run for cover! This is one tricky game to play in an interview. Even if you know the salary range for the job, if you answer first you're already showing all your cards. You want as much as possible, the employer wants you for as little as you're willing to take. Before you apply, take a look at salary.com for a good idea of what someone with your specific experience should be paid. You may want to say, "well, that's something I've thought long and hard about and I think someone with my experience should get between X & Y." Or, you could be sly and say, "right now, I'm more interested in talking more about what the position can offer my career." That could at least buy you a little time to scope out the situation. But if you do have a specific figure in mind and you are confident that you can get it, I'd say go for it. I have on many occasions, and every time I got very close to that figure (both below and sometimes above).

14. Are you good at working in a team?

Unless you have the I.Q. of a houseplant, you'll always answer YES to this one. It's the only answer. How can anyone function inside an organization if they are a loner? You may want to mention what part you like to play in a team though; it's a great chance to explain that you're a natural leader.

15. Tell me a suggestion you have made that was implemented.

It's important here to focus on the word "implemented." There's nothing wrong with having a thousand great ideas, but if the only place they live is on your notepad what's the point? Better still, you need a good ending. If your previous company took your advice and ended up going bankrupt, that's not such a great example either. Be prepared with a story about an idea of yours that was taken from idea to implementation, and considered successful.

16. Has anything ever irritated you about people you've worked with?

Of course, you have a list as long as your arm. But you can't say that, it shows you as being negative and difficult to work with. The best way to answer this one is to think for a while and then say something like "I've always got on just fine with my co-workers actually."

17. Is there anyone you just could not work with?

No. Well, unless you're talking about murderers, racists, rapists, thieves or other dastardly characters, you can work with anyone. Otherwise you could be flagged as someone who's picky and difficult if you say, "I can't work with anyone who's a Bronco's fan. Sorry."

18. Tell me about any issues you've had with a previous boss.

Arrgh! If you fall for this one you shouldn't be hired anyway. The interviewer is testing you to see if you'll speak badly about your previous supervisor. Simply answer this question with extreme tact, diplomacy and if necessary, a big fat loss of memory. In short, you've never had any issues.

19. Would you rather work for money or job satisfaction?

It's not a very fair question is it? We'd all love to get paid a Trump-like salary doing a job we love but that's rare indeed. It's fine to say money is important, but remember that NOTHING is more important to you than the job. Otherwise, you're just someone looking for a bigger paycheck.

20. Would you rather be liked or feared?

I have been asked this a lot, in various incarnations. The first time I just drew a blank and said, "I don't know." That went over badly, but it was right at the start of my career when I had little to no experience. Since then I've realized that my genuine answer is "Neither, I'd rather be respected." You don't want to be feared because fear is no way to motivate a team. You may got the job done but at what cost? Similarly, if you're everyone's best friend you'll find it difficult to make tough decisions or hit deadlines. But when you're respected, you don't have to be a complete bastard or a lame duck to get the job done.

21. Are you willing to put the interests of X Company ahead of your own?

Again, another nasty question. If you say yes, you're a corporate whore who doesn't care about family. If you say no, you're disloyal to the company. I'm afraid that you'll probably have to say yes to this one though, because you're trying to be the perfect employee at this point, and perfect employees don't cut out early for Jimmy's baseball game.

22. So, explain why I should hire you.

As I'm sure you know, "because I'm great" or "I really need a job" are not good answers here. This is a time to give the employer a laundry list of your greatest talents that just so happen to match the job description. It's also good to avoid taking potshots at other potential candidates here. Focus on yourself and your talents, not other people's flaws.

23. Finally, do you have any questions to ask me?

I'll finish the way I started, with one of the most common questions asked in interviews. This directly relates to the research you've done on the company and also gives you a chance to show how eager and prepared you are. You'll probably want to ask about benefits if they haven't been covered already. A good generic one is "how soon could I start, if I were offered the job of course." You may also ask what you'd be working on. Specifically, in the role you're applying for and how that affects the rest of the company. Always have questions ready, greeting this one with a blank stare is a rotten way to finish your interview. Good luck and happy job hunting.

Q4) Write a Rotate function for rotating elements in an array, using a reverse function.

Q5) Given 2 sorted arrays A and B with duplicate elements, get C= A -B and does not have duplicates(use a variation of merging 2 arrays and then remove the duplicates.)

Q6) Some routines to swap int pointers.

Q7) Subtraction of 2 base 13 numbers.

Q8) Min and max nodes of a quad tree.

Engineering test:
Most of it had algorithms( no code)

Q1) Given an array with some repeating numbers. Like 12,6,5,12,6

output: 12,12,6,6,512 should come before 6 since it is earlier in list. So cant use a dictionary.

Q2) Implement a dictionary manually with a lil overhead.

Section -1

1) Wap to reverse a linked list and sort the same.

2) Given two integers A & B. Determine how many bits required to convert A to B. Write a function int BitSwapReqd(int A, int B);

3) Write an algorithm to insert a node into sorted linked list. After inserting, the list must be sorted.

4) Without using /,% and * operators. write a function to divide a number by 3. itoa() function is available.

5) Wap to swap two integer pointers.
6)Write a funcn int round(float x) to round off a floating point num to int.
7) write an ALP to find sum of First n natural numbers using the following Instructions LDA num ; load Accumulator with num
DCR R ; decrement Register R
INR R ; increment Register R
MOV x,y ; move the contents of register y into register x
JZ label ; jump to label if A=0
DJNZ label; Decrement & Jump if A <> 0
you can use B & C registers in addition to A register Cool prove that a tree is BST.what is height of a tree?

9) Given A,B & C Boolean polynomials.Prove That (A+BC)=(A+B)(A+C)
Section - 2

There Were four section:

1. Aptitude: They had fairly simple arithmatic question, questions on geometry and questions like whether information can be deduced from the comments given. It was fairly easy and jst u need to have basic clear.

2. Analytical: Questions like pattern matching, odd one out were there. Be careful while attempting these two sections that u wont be having much time. Before u know the time is over.

3. Computers: This paper is mostly from the topics u cover in B.Tech. there was one question on finite automata,Bit manipultaion(flipping the bits), drawing the tree given preorder and inorder traversal, finding the formula for N-ary tree to fine number of external nodes.

4. C/Java: Here u had to write C programs(Mind u no mutiple questions). There was one question to write program to search a string from bigger string, write a algorithm to compute X^n which is of complextity log n, implement atoi function.(U cannot use any standard function in these.)

Questions
1. what percentage of total mass does liver hasAns 2.4%

What is the ratio of bones to total mass

All the questions are simple ..

3. 45 min Testing concept test: 20 objective multiple choice qustions like binary form of numbers, virtual memory, lossy compression, while loop, if-then-else, error codes.
ba. lossy compression
b. lossless Compression
c.text

2. output of 11000100 minus 2
3. Memory leakage is because ofa. variable not decraled
b. variable not free.. like this 4 options were given

4. Virtual memory concept is related toa. memory leagkage {mospagebreak}

5.Regretion testing is defined asa. testing the whole application
b.testing the different modules in the application

6. If the time is very limited for the testing then what would u test in the application.a. run all the tests
b.look for the most used featues in the application
c.go to the test plan and run the test based on the priority

I would suggest to go thru all the definition like what is regretion testing .what is unit smoke.etc.

1 Test Case Writing questions: 10 test cases for entering 3 values representing sides of a triangle and the program giving output as scalene, isosceles or eqilauteral (10 Marks)

1 Output of a calculator and finding the error in the output, write the defect log for the bug (5 Marks)

1 Ques on weather Dev should do the testing or not. Give 3 reason on favour and 2 against it. (5 Marks)

1 Question diff between priority of a bug and severity of a bug. Give example of one case where priority is high but severity is low and one case where severity is high bur priority is low.

1 Question on a program that calculates P=R/I where R, I are integer inputs and P a floating point output. Write 10 test cases for this - 5 Marks.

2nd LEVEL INTERVIEW PROCESS

1. Software test: One hour Software test. U will be placed on a system with an application opened that is containing bugs in it. A reference doc will be provided where u will find the description of six modules of the application. U have to find maximum number of bugs in those six modules given in the reference doc in one hour. Each module contains at least one bug. U will have to keep writing the bug in a paper provided to u as u keep finding it with the time when u found it.

2. 5 rounds of Interviews each of approximately 1 hour.
1st will be by a Senior Team member level guy, focusing on everything from simple codes to find errors in them, writing simple algos, giving very simple puzzles, test cases for a marker, ur projects, about urself, etc. The guy will keep giving hints and help u to solve the problem.

2nd will be by a Manager level guy, based on ur technical skills, puzzles to be solved on the whiteboard in front of him, algo to reverse a string using array, questions on ur projects, test cases of a duster, the projects u have mentioned in ur CV. More of a question-answer based approach, not very interactive.

3rd will be by a senior HR on why Adobe, what keeps u going, where r u placed in ur organization, all HR questions and about ur projects and Organizational levels.

4th will be by a Senior Team member level guy, focusing only on puzzles, lots of puzzles and scenario based test cases, like how to test an imaging application that removes the red eye affect from an image, test cases of an VOIP phone. The guy will keep giving hints and help u to solve the problem.

5th will be by a Senior Team member level guy, focusing on problem solving approach, scenario based error investigation, like an attachment is not opening in outlook on a particular system, what all can be the reasons. The guy will sort of discuss with u the problem and will try to find out the solution at the same time assessing ur problem solving skill. Then he will play a logical game, then some general questions, test cases for a radio, something about Adobe etc.

ADOBE PAPER PATTERN (TRIANZ)

1) Verbal Section:

A) Passage 1 (5 questions)> theme: Do not believe whatever you read in newspaper. Questions were direct except the last one. the last question was based on the central idea of the passage.(Apprx. passage length : 300 words )

B) Passage 2 (5 questions)> theme:benefits from the merger of IT companies.questions were not very direct.but, obviously managable.( length : 400 words)

C) Synonyms (5 questions)> words were: superfluous,aroma,shied

D) Grammer (5 questions)> selecting the right sentence from 4 options. options were close, need to read between words.based on tense and article.

E) Preposotions (5 questions)>very very easy questions. 1 example: received _____ thank ______ Mr. Murthy a sum ____ Rs. 50000.(Ans:With,from,of)

2) Quantitative Section:
lengthy solutions. suggestion is that approach should be option based.solving traditionally may take a lot of time.

Examples:
1) Three persons A,B,C participates in a race. A completes one lap in 10 mins, B in 12 mins, and C in 16 mins. How many laps has A run when all the three participants meet for the first time.
2) How many multiples of 3 when added together gives 1134?
3) Mr. X reads 1/5th of a book on Monday, on Tuesday he reads 5/8th of the remaining. On Wednesday, he reads 49 pages and thereby completes the book. How many pages the book consists of?

Questions were on Area, Perimeter,Pipes & Cisterns, Time & Work, Sequences, nymber System,Speed Distance & time, Profit and loss,

3) Logical Reasoning:
A)Venn-diagram (3 questions)>. Simple questions-need to know just the basics of Venn-Diagram.
B)Syllogism(5 questions)>
Example: All cats are dogs.
All bats are cats.
4 options after this, you have to select the correct conclusion.
C)Picture based questions ( 5 questions): R.S.Agarwal Non-Verbal Ability book may help. I found these 5 questions confusing.
D) questions on operators (3 questions):
example: If " means - ", " means / ", then whats the value of (96)(84).
E)Questions on Scheduling:
Example: A,B,C,D,e,F are 6 programmes to be organised on Wednesday evening show. If A is scheduled then B is not scheduled.( totally 6 conditions)
Option based approach should be undoubtly adopted or will become unmanagable.

Accenture Test Pattern Changed

This is regarding accenture test pattern... They had changed the pattern of the test.
Now they had tied up with meritrac for conducting tests...so its diffent from previous patterns

There is no technical questions for the written test. The test consists of 3 sections

1) Aptitude(maths) mainly of ven diagrams, then ques like a man walks east for 1 km then turns left ..etc like that and ques like A man facing towards west turns 45 degre clockwise then again 180 degree clockwise then turns 270 degree anti clock wise now at wat direction does he faces to.. like that..

2) Mental ability : ques like *stand for -, /stands for + etc.. a hand ful of such ques nd ques in which three 8 digit numbers are given and to find out they are same or not .etcc..And Questions like .A company want to select people for job... the criteria for selection is given and based on that 4 questions were given we have to choose whether he must be selected or not like that..

3) Verbal reasoning: fill up the blanks with missing words, replacing the word in a sentence with appropriate words of same meaning from given list and 2 passages with questions based on this

After written tests those who are selected will have GD( before, accenture didnt had GD), Then HR and Technical

The test will be simple... just brush up and go prepare well for other Rounds also especially HR.. please get as much as company info you get and be cool.. its only way to pass that round.

And for technical be prepare for a Nice set of Questions especially from basics in
C, C++,Datastructures, DBMS etccc as usuall in all tech interviews

ACCENTURE TEST ON JAN 2008 AT CHANDIGARH

1. GD
The reporting time was 11 am and it started on time. Application forms were filled and then 12 candidates were called randomly. We were given the topic "Should Chandigarh be made a State or should it remain an Union territory", and for that topic we were told to keep in mind the role of Beurocrats & Politicians. We were given 1 min. to think about the topic and then we had to start. The GD was very quarrelsome and most of the people only discussed about Beurocrats & Politicians, thus deviating from the topic. The GD lasted for about 15 minutes & only 2 of us out of 12 were selected. What I observed was that the examiner was marking how valid points you were making related to the topic. Speaking crap was not required. Other GD topics were mainly related to Current affairs, so be prepared for them.

2. Technical Interview
This was the hardest part of the procedure. Couple of panels were operating simultaneously, and the person I faced was a really strange fellow, I walked into the room greeted him and he didn’t give me any response. Just made an action to sit down, and then asked me to describe myself. He started asking questions from Networking which were as follows:
What is a Router?

What is a Hub, Switch?

In which layers are they implemented?

What are Firewalls and what are their types?

What is LOS?

What is Bus Topology?

What is Switching?

What is Packet switching and Virtual Circuit?

How are packets delivered?

What are Agreement protocols?

What is Aloha?
I had written about a presentation on WIMAX technology, so he asked What is the IEEE specification for it.

Other people encountered various questions on Final Project, C++, java, OS, DBMS and Data structures and were asked to write programs as well. I cleared this round and then we waited for couple of hours before we had the HR interview.
3. HR Interview
The HR round was a formality as only couple of general questions were asked.

But some people were asked Technical questions as well and there were a few candidates whose interview lasted quite long.
In a few minutes the result was announced and I finally made it into the company. I’d like to thank all the people and job-sites that helped me throughout my struggle. I would only tell to all the people to keep trying hard and not to loose faith in themselves. I didn’t get selected in numerous companies before but keep in mind that everyone has his day. So keep trying to give your best efforts...

ABB Placement Papers I

A destructor for a local static object will only be called if the object was successfully constructed.

If during stack unwinding a destructor throws an exception and that exception is not handled, the terminate() function is called. ans WinMain

Q)What type of memory could be accessed in least time?
ans CPU registers. The top of the memory pyramid :)

Q)what is data integrity constants?
ans Oracle uses integrity constraints to prevent invalid data entry into the database. It can be achieved using NOTNULL, Primary Key ,CHECK, Foreign Key etc..... constraints

Q)Paging is ------------------------
ans Paging is the technique of accessing memory ,larger than the maximum memory which can be addressed by a microprocessor. The interfaced memory is divided into pages such that the size of each page is equal to or less then the maximum memory which can be interfaced. Then whenever a specific address is to be accessed, the corresponding page is selected and the memory location is accessed.

Q) What is trigger in DBMS?
ans A Trigger is a PL/SQL block that executes whenever a particular event takes place.events in database like Insert,Update, Delete and combination of these three will cause the trigger to execute.Trigger is a technique to maintain integrity constraints

Q)What is the difference b/w 0123 and 123 in c?

ans 0123 the number that can be start 0 it will be treated as a octal number that is base 8. 123 is the integer number representation base is 10.

Q) Nice command is used for?
C. 'a' is a pointer to function returning an intege

Q)Which is not is not overloaded?
ans The only C operators that can't be are . and ?: (and sizeof, which is technically an operator). C++ adds a few of its own operators, most of which can be overloaded except :: and .*.

12 The redirection operators > and >>

a) ShowWindow

b) EnableWindow

c) MoveWindow

d) SetWindowPlacement

e)None of the above

ans a

Q) what is pragma exception???
ans Associating a PL/SQL Exception with a Number: Pragma EXCEPTION_INIT
To handle error conditions (typically ORA- messages) that have no predefined name, you must use the OTHERS handler or the pragma EXCEPTION_INIT. A pragma is a compiler directive that is processed at compile time, not at run time.In PL/SQL, the pragma EXCEPTION_INIT tells the compiler to associate an exception name with an Oracle error number. That lets you refer to any internal exception by name and to write a specific handler for it. When you see an error stack, or sequence of error messages, the one on top is the one that you can trap and handle. You code the pragma EXCEPTION_INIT in the declarative part of a PL/SQL block, subprogram, or package using the syntaxPRAGMA EXCEPTION_INIT(exception_name, -Oracle_error_number);where exception_name is the name of a previously declared exception and the number is a negative value corresponding to an ORA- error number. The pragma must appear somewhere after the exception declaration in the same declarative section, as shown in the following example:

DECLARE
deadlock_detected EXCEPTION;
PRAGMA EXCEPTION_INIT(deadlock_detected, -60);
BEGIN
... -- Some operation that causes an ORA-00060 error
EXCEPTION
WHEN deadlock_detected THEN
-- handle the error
END;

IBM -Technical Questions I

1 Draw a flowchart to find a number from an array.

2. What is vector processing Subscribe
A vector processor, or array processor, is a CPU design that is able to run mathematical operations on a large number of data elements very quickly. This is in contrast to a scalar processor which handles one element at a time – the vast majority of CPUs are scalar (or close to it)

3. Best sorting if elements are already sorted Subscribe
insertion sort is the best sort when the list is already sorted as the no of comparision reduces its complexity is n.quick sort is best when the pivot variable is in the middle of the list

4. Insertion sortSoftware configuration management

5.x-=y+1 is equivalent to..
x=x-y-1 because it is interpreted as x=x-(y+1)

6. What happens when we open a file in r+ mode Subscribe
- 'r+' opens the file for both reading and writing.
- 'r' should be used when the file will only be read.

7. If you get error in adapter which device will u use?

8. If you type in the command nohup sort employees > list 2 > error out & and log off ,the next tim
If you type in the command nohup sort employees > list 2 > error out & and log off ,the next time you log in . the output will be
a). in a file called list and the error will de typed in a file error out
b). there will be no file called list or error out
c). error will be logged in a file called list and o/p will be in error out
d). you will not be allowed to log in
e).none of the above
ans nohup is a Unix command that is used to run another command while suppressing the action of the HUP (hangup) signal, enabling the command to keep running after the user who issues the command has logged out. It is most often used to run commands in background as daemons. Output that would normally go to the terminal goes to a file called nohup.out if it has not already been redirected.
ans (a) chk it

9. In UNIX, What is files i-node
It is a data structure that defines all specifications of a file like the file size ,number of lines to a file ,permissions etc.

10. The UNIX shell is....
a).does not come with the rest of the system
b).forms the interface between the user and kernel
c) does not give any scope for programming
d) does not allow calling one program from with in another
e) all of the above
ans b

11 The command

grep first second third /usr/you/myfile

a) prints lines containing the words first, second or third from the file /usr/you/myfile

b) searches for lines containing the pattern first in the files

second, third, and /usr/you/myfile and prints them

c) searches the files /usr/you/myfiel and third for lines containing

the words first or second and prints them

d) replaces the word first with the word second in the files third and /usr/you/myfile

e) None of the above

1 What is the difference between OOP (Object Oriented Programming) and POP (Procedure Oriented Programming).
2 Example of Polymorphism.
3 Why paging, segmentation needed.
4 What is ADT (Abstract Data Type)?

Q)ARP is used for...........
A. map from MAC address to IP add.
B. map from IP addresses to MAC add.
C. to store the IP addresses.
ans b

Q) Which of the following API is used to hide a window

a) ShowWindow

b) EnableWindow

c) MoveWindow

d) SetWindowPlacement

e)None of the above

DECLARE
deadlock_detected EXCEPTION;
PRAGMA EXCEPTION_INIT(deadlock_detected, -60);
BEGIN
... -- Some operation that causes an ORA-00060 error
EXCEPTION
WHEN deadlock_detected THEN
-- handle the error
END;

Q)Function entry for DLL in win3.1

Ans) b

Q)class xx{
int getseg();
private:
int segDet;
};
this class may create problem because: reasons are..

ans becoa getseg class is private.

Q)What is fork()?
ans fork() is a function that is used to create a child process from a parent process.

Q)What are the files in /etc directory?.
ans configuration files.
Example: /etc/lilo.conf, /etc/fstab , /etc/mtab , /etc/resolve.conf , /etc/profile, /etc/host.conf etc.

Q) What does the following statement mean?
int (*a)[4]

A. 'a' is a pointer to an array of 4 integers
B. 'a' is an array of pointers to integer
C. 'a' is a pointer to function returning an intege

Q)Which is not is not overloaded?
ans The only C operators that can't be are . and ?: (and sizeof, which is technically an operator). C++ adds a few of its own operators, most of which can be overloaded except :: and .*.

12 The redirection operators > and >>

a) do the same function

b) differ : > overwrites, while >> appends

c) differ : > is used for input while >> is used for output

d) differ : > write to any file while >> write only to standard output

e) None of these

Ans) b

PERROT SYSTEMS Questions

Q1:200 question on a 3 hr exam. among these question 50 qns are from math. it is suggested that twice as much time be spent on each math problem as for each other qns.how many minutes should be spent on math problem?

The set of dispatchable processes is in a safe state if there exists at least one temporal order in which all processes can be run to completion without resulting in a deadlock.
We encounter cycle stealing in the context of Direct Memory Access (DMA).

Q. What is cycle stealing within Operating-systems?

Either the DMA controller can use the data bus when the CPU does not need it, or it may force the CPU to temporarily suspend operation. The latter technique is called cycle stealing. Note that cycle stealing can be done only at specific break points in an instruction cycle.

Q. What is meant by Operating system arm-stickiness?

If one or a few processes have a high access rate to data on one track of a storage
disk, then they may monopolize the device by repeated requests to that track. This
generally happens with most common device scheduling algorithms (LIFO, SSTF, C-
SCAN, etc). High-density multisurface disks are more likely to be affected by this than
low density ones.

Q. What are the stipulations of C2 level security?

C2 level security provides for: Discretionary Access Control Identification & Authentication Auditing Resource reuse
