I know I have been MIA for awhile, but it's a new year and I am ready to tackle some new projects! January 1 is a great time to let go of all of last years dramas and disappointments and focus on all the great things that will come along THIS year. :)

Father's Day Card - Camping Critters & BLOG CANDY

I really like the Camping Critters Cartridge. Not too many layers and there are some really cute images. I made this Father's Day Card for my Dad. He loves to take pictures. :)

I also have some BLOG CANDY to give away. I am still trying to clean out my craft area. I have never figured out how to use this Xyron thing. :/ I can't find the box for the Xyron, but I only used it once. The Xyron Design Runner has the box and all the pieces, but it is open. The accessories are new and unopened. If anyone is interested leave a comment. If there are more than one person interested I will do a random drawing next Monday 6-27-11.

MPS Color Challenge

I am trying to get my Cricut Mojo back :) I finally got a minute to sit down and make a quick card. For me it is always easier for me to have something to get inspired by. I love challenges and MPS has a Color Challenge going on.

You must use:

Orange, Turquoise, and Green (any other colors can be added). Here is my card. Here in Michigan, we are finally getting some warm weather, so I thought the stamp was appropriate. :D

Finally finished Halloween Apron

There has been so much going in the Craftini household for the last couple of weeks, that I have had no time to do any new projects. So, I figured why not try and finish a half done one. :)

This is really sad, but I started this apron BEFORE Halloween last year. I finally finished it! I also started working on another unfinished project. I did cut out my dress pattern for a sew along, but I haven't started cutting the fabric. My goal is to finish the dress this weekend. We shall see...

Here is the Halloween Apron, it was simple and cute. Maybe I'll throw a Halloween party just so I can wear it. lol :D

Babycakes Cake Pops Maker Review

When my friend sent me the link about the Babycakes Cake Pop maker I HAD to get one. They sell them online and at Kohl's. I ran right out and got one at Kohl's. It was $29.99, but Kohl's always has sales, so it will probably go on-sale shortly. I thought I would share my first experience with the machine and maybe get some tips from others who might have one.

I did read a few tips on several message boards before I started, but clearly not enough, LOL. I read on one of the MB that you should use the Pancake Pen (Williams-Sonoma) to add the batter to the machine. I already had one so I used it and it did work very well. I used a Duncan Hines White Cake Mix. The bottle held almost all of one box of cake batter.

The directions say not to fill up the "hole" all the way. I followed directions and did not fill them up all the way. SN: the machine gets VERY HOT so use an oven mitt to open and close the lid. I cooked them for 4 mins. Here is what the first batch looked like.

Second batch I filled them up to the top. Here is the second batch. Better, but still not a perfectly round cake ball.

A little overflow

Third Batch, I used more batter and they turned out much better, but still not fully round. Mine did not look like the picture on the box. ;p

Fifth batch. I filled them up as much as I could. You have to be fast because they start cooking as soon as you get the batter in. You can see the top ones already spreading.

As you can see overfilling does not work either. lol

You can not just pop off the overflow, the balls break apart.

I did some more research tonight and found out that you have to turn them at about 3 mins. Since I cooked mine for 4 I think I will turn them at 2 mins. It comes with this "fork" that is meant to get the cake balls out of the machine. I guess it is for turning them too. I am going to give it another try and just turn the machine over and see if that works. lol If not, I'll try the fork thing.

I did like the ease and quickness of the making the cake balls. As well as how many you can make from one box of cake mix. I am going to give it another try and see what happens when I turn them. Hopefully I will get a better result. I think you can still use them if you insert the stick on the "not so smooth" side. I will post pics of the second attempt soon. :)

Chocolate Kahlua Cake

Most of you know Blogger has been down and we were unable to post, but it really didn't effect me cause I'm having "Cricut Block". lol I have not had the urge to get out the Cricut and make anything. I think it's the crappy Michigan weather, its very depressing. :( I have had the urge to bake a bunch of stuff! I can't eat it all so I have been soliciting my friends to take my treats. lol I made a lemon pound cake with a lemon glaze that turned out great! I got 2 thumbs up from my treat tester. ;) So I thought I would branch out and try something new. Cake with liquor! I found this recipe on Cooks.com HERE is the link. I'm not sure it came out right. lol I followed the directions and the cake looks ok, but the glaze did not turn out at all. I have some of the new Duncan Hines Chocolate glaze in the kitchen cabinet so I might try that. Any ideas on a good glaze that would work well with this cake, would be greatly appreciated. :) Pics below. TFL

CHOCOLATE KAHLUA CAKE

1 c. chopped pecans
1 pkg. German chocolate cake mix
1 sm. pkg. instant chocolate pudding
4 eggs
1/2 c. cold water
1/2 c. oil
1/2 c. kahlua liquor

(If cake mix already contains pudding, omit pudding, use 3 eggs and 1/3 cup oil.)Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease and flour tube pan. Sprinkle nuts over bottom of pan. Mix remaining ingredients together. Pour over nuts. Bake 1 hour. While hot spoon glaze over cake in pan. Allow cake to absorb glaze. Repeat until glaze is used. Cool in pan. Invert on plate.

GLAZE:

1/4 lb. butter
1/4 c. water
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. kahlua

Melt butter in saucepan. Stir in water and sugar. Boil 5 minutes stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Stir in kahlua.

I made these Cricut Calling Cards for the Challenge #9--Use Glitz, Glam and Glitter in your project! I think the martini is kinda glam and my paper is glittery (hard to see in the pic). I blocked out my Cricut Circle Number.

Mother's Day Card & BLOG CANDY

I made a quick Mother's Day card to get some "Craft Therapy" in. It's been a rough week, but a little downtime with my Cricut always makes me feel better. :)

I used the Country Life cartridge to make the apron and cut it at 4".

I also have a cartridge to giveaway. It's the Christmas Cards cartridge. Here in Michigan we are not even getting nice spring days yet, but I think I might start making some Christmas cards. I always have good intentions to make cards, but once it gets close to the holidays, it gets too crazy!

Wrap It Up Challenge

MPS is currently hosting an "anything birthday" challenge. I have not had much time to do any crafting, but I needed to get some cricutin' in or I was going to go crazy. :D

I made the drink with the new Pack Your Bags cartridge. It is a really cute cartridge. I'm not sure I'm feeling the ribbon, but I already stuck the paper to card and I was too lazy to do another one. ;p This cartridge would be great for scrapbooking trips. I have a lot of great pics from the trips I have taken this year, so I might just break down and make some scrapbooking pages!

I bought one of these binders and I LOVE it! I got my at PaperCraftingPro.com, but they are all sold out. I knew I should have bought a couple more! Shaped Treasure Chest Card - Life's A Party Cartridge

The Life's A Party cartridge is a great cartridge to create themed parties. It has some really cute cuts. It includes a shaped card, cupcake wrapper and cupcake topper with each cut. I cut the shaped treasure chest card to test out the cartridge. I didn't embellish the card, but it cut really easy and I think it would be great for an invitation. I used a 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper and clicked the "fit to page" button. It ended up cutting at 3 3/4". For an invitation I think you would need to cut it a little bigger to get all the party info on the inside. I LOVE CUPCAKES! So, I think I will have to make a batch to do some additional testing of the cartridge. :)

I am such a bad blogger! I have not posted much lately, but I haven't had time to get in any crafting. I made sure I got some "Craft Therapy" in today! I made a card for the "Hip to be Square" card challenge over at the Fantabulous Cricut Blog. I made a St. Patrick's Day first, but then I realized it was a rectangle. lol I told you it's been a long time since I have been crafting! :)

I made a second card with the scraps from the first attempt. I made a Father's Day card, since I felt like the paper was kinda "manly".
