Journey Man Progress

2011-04-13T14:13:00.001+01:00

Amongst other things, I have made the low poly for the body. The sculpt was completely hand painted in zbrush, so the vertex colours could be projected as well:

The Journeyman Project

2011-03-01T15:12:00.000+00:00

The Journeyman Project is the development of a game within the Unreal Game Engine by students studying game courses in Year 2 of Teesside University. We all work together in teams of 6 to create 6 levels.

I have been chosen to design and create the Main Character of the game. I have to work from a loose brief written by the principle designer.

Here is my progress:

His name is Nemus Dilingo...

Remember that anatomy sculpt.. near the start?

So far...

2010-12-11T01:17:00.002+00:00

Here is my sculpt so far. I am happy with most of it...

Hating the jeans at the moment, I will re-do them.

The neck is also quite wrong.

Composition Coursework

2010-12-11T01:13:00.000+00:00

This is a piece of coursework I had to do for the Sequential Art module:

The brief was to compose an image of Dr Frankenstein and his monster waking up using three layers; foreground, mid-ground and background

Paint Overs

2010-12-11T01:11:00.000+00:00

Half way through the sculpting I decide to do some paint overs to make sure the face is suitable...

Character Progress

2010-12-11T01:09:00.000+00:00

Really basic sculpt for forms and anatomy and stuff...

SHOES

2010-12-11T01:07:00.000+00:00

I bought some trainers recently, and decided to use them for my characters shoes... as they look suitable for a homeless guy and I now have a load of reference as I have them right in front of me...

The shoes IRL

Still needs sculpting for detail

Environment Production Progress

2010-12-11T00:52:00.001+00:00

SO I made a load of assets in 3ds Max and Zbrush and exported them as re-usable parts in the Unreal Development Kit. I need more parts, but here is my progress so far...

Close-Up on ground level

Still a bit to do... should be finished soon

University Coursework 3

2010-12-11T00:31:00.000+00:00

This concept was drawn for my Environment Production for Games module...

Concept Sketch

We had to research and make a medieval building... So I chose to do a Tudor style shop

University Coursework 2

2010-12-11T00:26:00.001+00:00

For my Character Production for Games, here is some of the final sketches for my concept work.

Concept Sketches

The idea is... A homeless guy who travels and takes all his belongings with him.

I decided to make the one on the left...

Here are some sketches I have done to start off my coursework for the module "Mechanical Asset Creation for Games"...

Development

Finalizing Sketches and Ideas

The idea is... A futuristic off-road vehicle; Huge wheels on the front held on with strong magnets (the air gap between the wheel and the middle serves as suspension). A tail on the back keeps the vehicle from losing balance when speeding through forests and other off-road areas. :D

Slow Progress

2010-12-11T00:10:00.000+00:00

Due to starting moving up to uni, lack of internet and starting my 2nd Year on my course... I have not progressed very far on this.

I plan to finish it some time in the future though.

Slight Update

Comicon Challenge 2010

2010-09-05T22:57:00.002+01:00

In this competition we have to make a low poly version of any super hero or super villain. (basicaly anyone from comic books/manga)

I decided to enter this years competition and am going with Major Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell. Here is my progress so far (early wip):

If you want to follow my thread, here's the link - Major Kusanagi

Summer practice

2010-07-12T21:59:00.000+01:00

I've decided to practice and improve myself by making a character. I used a sketch I did ages ago for the concept. Here is the high poly in zbrush so far...

Animation Coursework Part 2

2010-06-17T23:22:00.000+01:00

For this, I had to pick a ready made character.. skin it.. and animate it... We were allowed to edit it a bit, so I put wings on his boots so that he was supah fly and changed some topology to make it easier to skin.

We had to make a walk cycle, run cycle, fall over and intimidation animations.

This here is walk cycle to fall over to walk cycle:

Games Animation Coursework

2010-05-28T11:31:00.006+01:00

We had to do "introduction to animation for games" module on our course. But as I don't really wanna persue animation as a career, I spent most time on modelling the character :)

Here are the 3 animations we had to make:
