Ukrainian Husband And Wife Build A Ship Out of 17000 Coins

2014-03-29T22:40:00.000+03:00

Sergei Nikolayev Knurov is a 29-year old chef from Mykolaiv, Ukraine who made a detailed miniature ship out of Ukrainian coins. The entire piece consists of 17,000 coins and has bank notes for sails.
The project first used the coins from Sergei’s piggy bank, but as those ran out, he began to exchange paper money for coins whenever he got the chance at drug stores, from the market and even his friends. But as people learned what the coins were being used for, many parted with their loose change to help build this amazing ship
The coins used are mainly 2 and 10 kopecks, with the sails being made of 25 five-hryvnia notes. Creating a three dimensional model of the ship was difficult using just notes and sketches, but luckily Sergei’s wife is a numismatist (someone who studies and collects currency). She helped him fused the coins together using silicate glue, since superglue oxidizes and would reduce the life of the metal structure
The Husband and wife worked on the boat for two to three hours a day before and after work. Collecting the coins and making the finished product took a total of six months. The foundation was made of 25 and 50 kopeck coins while the body was made with 1, 2 and 5 kopecks, with the edges being decorated with 10 kopecks. The master deck is made of wood and the boat even has opening for cannon shells.
The finished ship weighs 30 pounds and is made from currency worth 800 hryvnia. The couple plans to auction it for 4,000 hryvnia and Sergei says he will use the money to create “new creative projects”. Amazing, Isn’t it?

5G Internet Is A Thousand Times Faster Than 4G

2014-02-15T22:23:00.003+03:00

People in South Korea will be able to download entire movies in just one second by 2020. The country’s Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST) announced that it would be investing $1.5 billion (1.6 trillion won) to develop 5G technology that will be 1,000 times faster than the current 4G technology.

MEST hopes to have a trial 5G service ready by 2017 and make the technology commercially available by 2020. The ministry also aims on developing new features alongside the network itself, including Ultra-HD streaming, hologram transmission and upgraded social networking services. The government estimates that the projected sales for relevant industries using the 5G infrastructure between 2020 and 2026 will be $310 billion (331 trillion won). MEST hopes to develop the technology with the help of service providers such as SK Telecom and Korea Telecom, as well as the help of tech giants such as Samsung and LG

Samsung has already announced that it is currently working on developing 5G technology. They claim that they have already been successful in transmitting a 1.056 GB per second signal up to 2 kilometers. The company also hopes to make this technology commercially available by 2020. The tests held by Samsung used 64 antennas to transmit the high frequency signal by alternating between the antennas that were more easily available to the signal than the others. The results put forward by Samsung have been met with criticism and many claim that it is only a marketing stunt

Whatever the truth may be, development of a new network is being looked into by other countries as well. The EU is set on developing a next-generation network and hope to meet the increase in traffic by 2020. The speeds claimed by 5G may or may not be speculation, but a new breed of network is sure to come in a few years

Explosion of colours..

2014-02-14T19:12:00.000+03:00

This is going on in my mind this morning.. My dream home would be filled with colours.. loads of cushions and colours.. Allah, please prepare this home as I scribble on.. You know the location of this home that I dream of.. Please guide me step by step.. and when the day comes, I would know which house and where it is.. I also pray for the surrounding.. the neighbours that I am going to have.. Allah, You know the details that needs to be covered.. I pray that this home will be a home of peace where people would want to come for refuge and time with You in the midst of the hustle and bustle of life..

I have thought of a name for my new home..

(the home of love, joy & peace)

Allah, I commit this to You.. and trust that You know the best for me.. whether how big it would be, my neighbours, the location that is safe, the financial side of things and everything else..

Thank You Allah

Iranian hasn't had a wash for 60 years

2014-02-02T22:39:00.002+03:00

Amou Haji has not washed for 60 years, because he believes being clean will make him sick, To relax he likes to sit down and have a smoke, from a pipe packed with animal faeces. Mr Haji, 80, says he chose this way of life after going through some emotional setbacks in his youth and since then - perhaps unsurprisingly - he has become a bit isolated.

Capital Gate Building: The Leaning Tower of Abu Dhabi

2013-03-21T20:06:00.002+03:00

Capital Gate is an iconic leaning skyscraper located in Abu Dhabi adjacent to the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. At 160 meter (520 ft) and 35 stories, it is one of the tallest buildings in the city and leans at an astounding 18 degrees to the west, four times than the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. In June 2010, the Guinness Book of World Records certified Capital Gate as the "World’s furthest leaning man-made tower." To make this possible, the central core of the building slants in the opposite direction to the lean of the structure, and it straightens as it grows. The building sits on top of a 7-foot-deep concrete base with a dense mesh of reinforced steel. The steel exoskeleton known as the diagrid sits above an extensive distribution of 490 piles that have been drilled 100 feet underground to accommodate the gravitational, wind and seismic pressures caused by the lean of the building.
