On top of Trump Park Avenue in New York City, Ivanka Trump & The United Nations Foundation invited guests to preview the "Girl Up" campgain. It's an effort to improve the lives of girls globally - especially in impoverished nations. Ivanka and Jared Kushner, Donald Trump, and members of the United Nations Foundation gathered at the gala with many special guests. Atlantic Records Recording artist, Little Boots performed music from her brand new CD.

In the spirit of the holiday, I wanted to share with you one of my favorite recipes, Butternut Squash Soup. This dish is filled with sweetness, a wonderful aroma, and vibrant colors that are perfect for the dinner table. Enjoy the dish and all the celebrations it brings with it.

1 medium onion, minced

2 pounds prepared peeled, cubed butternut squash

6 cups water

1 canned coconut milk

1/2 cup white wine

2 garlic cloves chopped or 2 frozen crushed garlic cubes

1 tablespoon fresh grated ginger or 1 teaspoon of ginger powder

1 teaspoon curry powder
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

1 teaspoon Kosher salt

Place all ingredients in a 6 quart stockpot, cover and bring to boil. Reduce to simmer and cook covered for 30 to 40 minutes until squash is soft. Use a potato masher or fork to mash the squash and continue to cook for 10 minutes

Ladle in bowls and serve.

****I also likes to either sprinkle spicy roasted pumpkin seeds on top or serve on the side.****

Their Story:

Although Kevin and Maegan attended the same schools all throughout their childhoods, it was not until they finally had classes together in High School that they hung out every opportunity they had. With Maegan on the drill team and Kevin in the band, they found themselves spending Fridays together and clearly enjoying each other’s company. As Maegan told us, “So I made my move, and we have been inseparable since!”

The Proposal: “When Kevin decided to propose, it was a pretty big shock to me. Not because we didn't talk about it before – because we definitely wanted to get married and were ready emotionally – but we wanted to save up a little money and he wanted it to be in front of family and friends. We were both working a lot and hardly had any days off together, so when we finally had time to have a date, he planned a picnic. It was a normal picnic until dessert… I was thinking he made something yummy and home-made, until he asked me to stand up and turn around. While I was waiting on my "Dessert,” I kept thinking, Is he going to propose? No. He wanted it to be in front of my family!

When he said he was ready for me to turn around, he was down on his knee asking me to marry him! I started crying (good tears of course) and saying ‘Really? Already??' He smiled and said yes. I started laughing and crying even more. He had to ask me twice...I forgot to say Yes! Finally, I said yes!

We plan on getting married November 11th, 2011, but you never know, we have mentioned moving it up a year! (We can't wait!)

“I was driving around Hoboken at nine-thirty on Sunday night,” said Vera Wang, when I called to ask about Ivanka Trump’s wedding dress. No, Ms. Wang did not miss the wedding Sunday, at the Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, N.J., but apparently she and her husband, Arthur Becker, missed a turn on their way back to Manhattan.

I thought Ms. Trump looked sensational in her lace dress. It was the sleeves. We’re so used to seeing brides in strapless dresses that Ms. Trump’s gown made a fresh statement. Maybe she’ll have an influence on brides.

Ms. Trump liked Grace Kelly’s wedding dress, made by Helen Rose, the MGM costume designer. I wondered what in particular impressed her about that iconic dress. According to Ms. Wang, it was the lace and the royal factor.

“It’s modest and tasteful,” she said, noting that groom, Jared Kushner, is orthodox and that the Ms. Trump recently converted. “She was actually very much about being covered and I seized on the chance to do a dress that wasn’t naked and very Hollywood.” The dress consists of three layers of different kinds of lace, including Lyon and Chantilly. The bottom layer was embroidered and each layer was pieced together by hand to create a different pattern in the lace. “You could see the layers underneath when she moved,” said Ms. Wang, who had about a month to make the gown. Instead of going for the usual bridal chignon, Ms. Trump wore her hair loose and slightly curled. “There was a bit of ‘Mad Men’ in it,” Ms. Wang said. Did she think Ms. Trump might start a trend with her sleeves? “She might very,” Ms. Wang said. “Nothing would make me happier. I’ve been doing strapless dresses for 15 years. It’s tiring.”

It might have been a meeting of the junior committee on Wednesday evening as younger members of boldfaced family names, including Jamie Johnson, Bara Tisch, and Topper Mortimer (with new girlfriend Valerie Boster on his arm), showed up to the Trump Tower in New York City to congratulate Ivanka Trump on publishing The Trump Card: Playing to Win in Work and Life.. Tourists hung over the railing to gawk at the party below (and undoubtedly at Donald's distinctive hairstyle) as Ivanka alternately signed books and lingered by her soon-to-be husband, Jared Kushner. Clad in jewelry from her own collection, one of her other ventures, Ivanka discussed her plans for the future. "My focus will always be on real estate, but I'm always interested in entrepreneurial pursuits."

Also mingling in the cavernous stairwell were the rest of the Trump contingent (Melania, Barron, Eric, and Donald Jr.), as well as Andrew Saffir and Daniel Benedict. "There seems to be a mass exodus from New York going on at the moment," remarked documentarian Jack Bryan on the impact the recession has had on the city and its real estate. "It happens every five years or so, but they all come back eventually with tears in their eyes!" Only days away from her wedding, Ivanka, who was looking radiant and remarkably composed, offered advice to other brides: “Be relaxed, try to enjoy the moment, and remember: it's just a great party!”
