Lilacs and Spring!

Sweet Lilacs

Lilacs always remind me of spring. Their sweet smell fills the crisp fresh air just kissed by a sprinkle of nature's shower. Outside weddings come to mind with the bride dressed in lace. Children playing in the garden, so eager to soak up the long awaited rays of sunshine. I may be a bit early with this but it's wishful thinking....as I look out my window, over the little town with white covered rooftops. I'll be staying in today, thank you. How I long for the days of strolling in the park.(ok...I don't often do that, but I do walk my dog sometimes!)

Spring is almost here! And in the meantime please enjoy this lilac bouquet!

Spring has come early over here at J Beaudet Studios! I feel so fresh and new with my new blog designed by the ever so creative and extremely talented 'Julie from BeingRuby!' She did such a beautiful job and it was such an absolute pleasure doing business with her. She's so witty. I would definitely recommend her if you want to have beautiful blog with so many cool features.

This is my latest painting I just finished. I used a palette knife and a brush to get the texture I was after. There's a lot of brush work in this one and it has a real impressionist feel. I was inspired by a book my daughter gave me for Christmas. It was a book of paintings by a famous artist. Can you guess who?

The perfect combo. I love all these things and wish this really was my view. Unfortunately it's far from it. I have a beautiful view from my home but it's been snowing and raining for about a week. The sun finally came out so I could paint this one with the beautiful light from the sun. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

Well, I wasn't sure if I should post this yet but wanted to get your opinions. I put a frame on her (for display purposes) and think it looks pretty nice. I usually paint around the whole canvas but I think these (the painted ladies) look much better framed. A collector who has purchased two of my lady paintings, told me they framed them with something that sounded like this type of frame. I think it fits the style. I wanted the gentleman to be sort of in the shadows with the beautiful dress being the spotlight. I hope it works.

I've changed the flowers so I had to post the new photo.

They are now pink and cream roses. The cream roses look a little

washed out but they aren't in person. What do you think?

I just finished this one and couldn't wait to share it with you. I think she's my favorite one yet.

I hope you like her too. I'll be working on more paintings this weekend. I've changed my blog once again and have been having trouble with some of the settings. It's actually driving me crazy! I might have made it so you can't find me anymore. I sure hope not.

Well it seems that I somehow lost this painting in my move.

It may still be where I left it, but I doubt I'll ever get it.

This has been a good year for me, full of many changes. The changes are really not new ones; more like a journey in a continuous circle. I started out the year in a new place (not really new, I grew up there) and had such a great time, but am now back where I started. I am also back with the wonderful man that I started with and am so happy to be here. So, although so much has changed it's really just stayed the same. I'm so happy, and look forward to a super spectacular new year!

I don't have any real resolutions to make; just to continue on the path that I'm on, hopefully not in a circle anymore though...I've already done that. How about you?

I want to wish everyone a prosperous New Year, full of happiness and

good fortune.

Mini Roses!

I just finished this one for a commissioned piece. It's a mini version of another one I did earlier this year.

My daughter is home from college for one more week. It's been great having her here but I think she's ready to get back to the college life. She's been passing her time by taking pictures with my camera, and has reminded me how it really can take good photos! I guess it's not the camera after all. I finished another lighthouse painting and will be posting it soon. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!

French Bedroom...

This is a new interior painting I just finished. I was going for a French bedroom, vintage feel.

The colors are pretty close but the original looks better. In the original the colors are richer and the shadow at the bottom of the wall blends better. Here, it looks a little black, which it isn't.

So my art cruise went well. I was hoping to have some photos to post but haven't received them yet. It was very cold and I look forward to the ones in the spring and summer months. but I'll do more this winter.

I sold one painting and took a commission for another. The best part was all of the wonderful compliments I got from the cruisers. I even got a write up in our local paper!

Well, I hope everyone is enjoying this season and not getting to crazy busy.

I am really sooo thankful to be with my family this holiday. It's going to be a great celebration.

I also took my cosmetology exam on Monday and passed!

Yay! I'm so glad I don't have to do that again!

I'm truly thankful that everyone around me is healthy and I wish good health and happiness to all!!!
