    <title>Global Platinum Jewelry Demand Up, Palladium Down in 2011</title>

    <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Platinum jewelry demand increased by 2 percent in 2011 to 2.48 million ounces, while palladium purchasing fell 15 percent to 505,000 ounces, according to Johnson Matthey’s Platinum 2012 Review. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The platinum demand increase came mainly from China—where demand reached 1.68 million ounces—as well as India, where demand rapidly grew. Lack of positioning in the Chinese market affected the decrease in palladium purchases.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="field field-type-text field-field-teaser"&gt;

    <title>Fusion Tenders Announces 100 Percent Sell Through</title>

    <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Fusion Tenders, in collaboration with I. Henning &amp;amp; Co., announced that it had a 100 percent sell through of all 64 lots of the KAO Production during the sealed bid tender in Antwerp, Belgium from May 7-11.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;“We had a very busy week and there was positive feedback on the presentation of the KAO goods," Adam Schulman, Fusion Alternatives CEO, said in a statement. "We look forward to building on this success at our next tender in June."&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The next Fusion Tender of KAO production will take place on June 15-21 in Antwerp.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="field field-type-text field-field-teaser"&gt;

    <title>Texas Jewelry Store Owner Engages in Shoot-Out With Robber</title>

    <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;On May 9, an attempted robbery turned violent when a man posing as a customer tried to rob Randy’s Fine Jewelers in Beaumont, Texas.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The suspect, identified as Joshua Nowland, 35, revealed a gun and ordered a customer and employee to lie on the floor. Nowland then allegedly fired a bullet at the store’s owner, hitting his upper leg. The store’s owner retrieved his own handgun, striking Nowland several times in his upper body. The store’s owner held Nowland at gunpoint outside the store until police officers arrived at the scene.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="field field-type-text field-field-teaser"&gt;

    <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;As we near the halfway point for 2012, gold bugs can’t be too happy about the performance of their favorite metal.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The price of gold, which closed on Jan. 1, 2012, at $1,598 an ounce, was trading at press time at $1,585, meaning all its gains for the year have basically been erased. (It has gained a bit from its Dec. 29, 2011, closing price, which was $1,531 an ounce.)&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="field field-type-text field-field-teaser"&gt;

    <title>Amazon, QVC Tops for Internet Satisfaction</title>

    <description>&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Amazon and QVC have the most satisfied customers on the Web, according to the E-Retail Satisfaction Index from analytics firm Foresee.&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;The survey ranked Amazon highest for customer satisfaction, with 89 points out of a possible 100.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;QVC came in second with 85 points. Also scoring high were Walmart with 82 points; HSN with 81 points; Target, 81 points; and J.C. Penney and Nordstrom with 80 points each. The company contends that scores of 80 points and above are indicative of “superior customer satisfaction performances.”&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div class="field field-type-text field-field-teaser"&gt;
