I was trying to post this for the “Vimeo Awards” prior to the submission deadline of midnight EST. Apparently I missed it by about 20 minutes, even though the piece was uploaded. Oh well, that’s the way it goes sometimes. Hope you enjoy how we make a cup of joe in our household.

This coffee shop jumped out at me because of the awesome “Coffee” sign that they have hanging out front of the place. Disappointing enough their “actual” signage / logo is a disgrace. I don’t know why places down here demand to have some gross hippie signage in some form or another. They clearly notice and recognize that the “Coffee” sign out front is amazing. They have it stamped on all of their cups (see below).

The place is awesome enough inside, if you just advert your eyes from the horrible signage behind the counter. It’s just the kind of asthetic that could have me coming back more often. Just advert your eyes from the horrible signage behind the counter.

The best part about the place though? They brew Stumptown Coffee from Portland Oregon. I was so pleasantly surprised to find out that they brewed a really great bean. So Yeah, I’ll be back for the coffee, and clearly I’ll advert my eyes from the horrible signage hanging behind the counter.

Back when my wife and I lived in San Francisco we had a moment at some point when we both realized that we had seen this gentleman on each of our respective commutes home. We had mentioned that he had a wonderful voice and was super talented. He played a wide range of covers and classics and when he was within eye sight, both of our headphones immediately came out of our ears so we could see what Jesse was singing.

I look back on my time spent in San Francisco, and there was a lot of late nights, and long hours. However, one thing that could make me feel good about heading into or leaving work, was seeing Jesse Morris belt out the classics in a Bart station. (By classics I mean acoustic versions of punk songs, and of course, a ton of Johnny Cash.)

I guess my wife and I were lucky enough that we came into or left from two of the only stations Jesse ever played at, Montgomery, and 24th Street/Mission. I guess we were lucky enough to be able to witness one of the most exciting and entertaining street performers I’d ever seen. I suppose we were lucky enough to be able to share the bond of loving what this gentleman brought to our lives every time we saw him.

Jesse passed away in November 2011 after a long battle with depression and anxiety he took his own life. I didn’t know his name until after he was gone. I didn’t even really remember how much he meant to me until someone mentioned it on Facebook and then read through the comments to learn that he had passed. You meant a lot to me, though you’ll never know it. I’m glad my wife and I got to spend the minutes in Bart stations enjoying what you were able to bring to the world.

Jesse had done some recording before he passed away, and though it was unfinished it was released and you can buy it for 5$. All of the proceeds go to helping his family. I hope you love it like I did.

I’ve finally got some film back from the last few rolls of my new favorite camera toy. It’s an AVIVA PF-1 which I posted about a few weeks ago. It looks wonderful and takes some really vibrant yet vintage quality shots.

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted about what I’ve been working on, and I know that.  I constantly have some sort of project, or idea in the pipeline to keep me creatively motivated to go to work, and do the day to day mundane things of my normal life.   If you’re at least a little bit interested you probably have seen stuff on Vimeo, or noticed other projects that I have attached myself to.  However, if you haven’t been as snoopy as I am on the internet.  Here’s a little glimpse into the work that I’ve got coming forward.  Some of these things are in audio mix.  Some of them aren’t done being cut, and some of them are just starting to be shot.

Some projects are bigger than others, some are more time consuming.  However, each one of them I’m trying to get through as I move forward with my day to day life.  So without much explanation, take a look at the following pictures, and video to see what I’ve got cooking on the hard drive in the home studio, and then please come back and check them out as they finish up.

For the last few years I’ve been telling myself “Dress older, project a sense of confidence.” I always find myself buying new shoes, or pants or something that I could try and ease my way into dressing more adult, or changing my typical fashion occasionally in order to have peoples first perception of me change.

I was reading something recently and it turned me onto a blog called “Put This On“. I loved taking a look at the blog, however, I noticed that they had a video podcast included. Which was just the thing for me. Between the comedic delivery and the commentary. I think that I’ll really be stepping up my game when it comes to the way I dress (at least occasionally).

Put This On Episode 3: Work

I accidentally came across this today. I was just going through some stuff on Vimeo, doing some random searches watching a bunch of really bad stuff, and some “O.K.” stuff. Then I came across this documentary. In My Eyes was one of my favorite bands when I was coming up in the hardcore/punk music scene. I had heard that this documentary was being worked on, and I just assumed as with many of my hardcore/punk related projects, it just never got finished, or did get finished, but no one wanted to release it.

I guess a few months ago Revelation Records decided that it should see the light of day, even if the audio was never done, if there were temporary graphics still in place etc… I’m glad they did. This was a really nice blast from the past trip down memory lane for me. These days, I live for these trips down memory lane. I’m always looking forward, but still psyched about where I’ve come from.

I’m excited to share this one. My dear friend Kyle Whitlow has been doing write-ups on his record collections (I made a post about this a few months ago). More recently he has finally put up pictures of his release collection of my bands, as well as written some really nice things.

As I get older one of my favorite things to do is get together with Kyle, as well as guys from the band, and many other friends that shared the common time in our lives and talk about it. Honestly we’ve done it hundreds of times, and we’ll probably do it hundreds more. It’s great to chat about the fights, the miscues, the music, the people, and of course all the great times we had as a band. As well as all the times we shared working with Kyle and Rivalry and everyone that encompassed that period of our lives.

In keeping with the theme that Kyle has set on his blog Seeking The Simple. I will do my best to start writing up stories and experiences that I had while being a part of the record label as well as part of the bands Allegiance and Right On. In hopes that at least I’ll have a place to return to recall those thoughts and memories for years to come.
