Now you can collect points and badges for doing certain actions on the site.<br /><br />This is a great way to see the reputation of other members and build up your own reputation on the site. I also added a history list to each profile showing the last 15 or so actions on the site. Here's a list of the badges so far:<br /><ul><li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Demo Tape</span> - Submit your first news article</li><li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Fan</span> - Vote in favor of an article (other than your own)</li><li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Vocalist</span> - Submit your first comment</li><li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Backing Vocalist</span> - Rate your first comment</li><li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Debut</span> - Get an article you submitted published to the front page<br /></li></ul>A badge with a star next to it means it is (or potentially will be) more difficult than others to obtain.<br /><br />Here's an example of the kind of badges I plan on adding. Some will be granted on a daily/weekly/monthly basis but others will be instant. I'm launching it as a beta so that I can get your feedback and further improve the site. It's a community site, and I want the community to decide the direction the site should go in.<br /><br />Here's a few things I plan to implement:<br /><ul><li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Points</span><br />Members will be given points for doing certain actions on the site. The top scoring members will be rewarded somehow. Probably with a link to their own website on the front of JPop Japan.</li><li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Badges/Rewards</span><br />I'd like to be able to offer badges for achieving things like "Top voter" or crazy things like "5000 votes given". These will be displayed proudly on your profile (or not if you choose to hide them).</li><li style="font-weight: bold;">Friends</li><li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Favorites</span><br /></li><li><span style="font-weight: bold;">Improved Profiles</span><br />History, friends list, etc<br /></li></ul>I plan to use this blog to keep you updated on what's happening behind the scenes, as well as what's happening on the site.<br /><br />So why not <a href="http://jpopjapan.com/signup">sign up</a> today and post your first news item or make a vote.
