Mystic Nights inspired

This FOTD was inspired by the necklace piece, named Mystic Nights, I'm wearing that I just purchased from Jujubeads. The length of the chain is actually longer that the crystal falls just between my cleavage. So I had to pull it up a little.

I really love the color and the design of this piece. After priming my eyes with Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden, I ended up using MAC Birds & Berries eyeshadow all over the lid and darkened the outer V and crease with MAC Pandemonium eyeshadow then highlighted with MAC Ricepaper eyeshadow. Went a little heavy on the MAC Blacktrack fluidline and lined my waterline with MAC Graphblack technakohl liner. Finished off my eye with MAC Opulash mascara and filled in my brows with MAC Espresso eyeshadow.

For the flush on my cheeks I dabbed MAC blush ombre in Azalea Blossom and highlighted it with MAC Shell Pearl beauty powder and contoured with MAC So Ceylon MSF. I did have some MAC Chromaliving chromeglass on my lips but that wore off after my morning coffee.

And this was my FOTD for today. I need to get inspired more. I haven't worn anything out of the norm of neutral colors lately. Hopefully the weather gets cooler then I can definitely not have to worry about my face melting off! And hopefully come up with more FOTDs.

It's been awhile since I posted up a haul post. I ordered some new jewelry from Juli over at Jujubeads (formerly known as jusanctuary). I really liked the ones I got in my first haul from her so I've been waiting on buying new ones until I saw some that I really had to have. Last Thursday I placed my order for 2 necklace pieces that I've been eyeing for awhile.

When I came home from work yesterday, I had a package waiting for me and it was my new necklaces!

So what did I get?

Forbidden Love

Mystic Nights

The lighting in my room wasn't really that great and does no justice to these necklaces. They look a lot better in person and are pictured better on her jewelry blogsite.

I am totally satisfied with my order. She's very professional when it comes to communication. She let me know from the get go that she wouldn't be able to ship out my order until early in the following week. Which was a minor bummer as I was hoping to get them right away seeing that she doesn't live that far away from me and it would only take a day in the mail to get to me. But I had no problems waiting.

She also was very professional about the pricing issue I caught. She had a different price on her etsy site than on her blog site. So she refunded me back the difference in price.

I love how she adds in extra goodies in the bag and it is packaged in a way that there will be no damage to the jewelry.

I do plan on ordering more as I am fond of most of her designs. If you haven't already done so, check out her blog for all of her designs. Don't forget to subscribe so you know when she adds in more and new designs.

I would have taken pics of me wearing the jewelry, but when I took these pics it was already late at night after a day melting in this summer heatwave we are having. So I'll post up the pictures when I am more decent looking. In other words, in the morning before the heat gets to me. haha!

Along with work, family, going to the gym and hanging out with my friends, I somehow still find the time to play a little WoW.

I started playing WoW back in March of 2008 and it's become an addiction since then, LOL. I started off my WoW obsession by creating a Gnome Warlock named Jrose. Mr. Man's main character he plays is a Night Elf Druid named Proxseries and he had started leveling a Human Priest named Rengerex as his alt and got him to level 71. He eventually gave his priest to me and I ended up doing a race/gender/name change to a female Draenei and named her Jaclynrose and leveled her to 80.

When we parted ways with our old guild, Legion, I put my warlock (who was pretty geared at the time) on the back burner while I concentrated on my healing skills with the priest. And she has now become my main character I play the most. Don't get me wrong, I love my warlock and still play her from time to time when I feel lazy and just want to DPS =P. But my leet heals is what everyone is looking for nowadays.

Anyways, on July 22nd, Mr. Man and I along with our current guild finally got to meet the Lich King (currently the final boss of the game). It took us a while and quite a few different group makeups to get there, but we did.

And after 32 days of trying... I mean literally sitting at our desks for up to 5 hours at a time we finally defeated the Lich King and achieved the title Kingslayer! All I can say is WOW! It took us various different raid group/people makeups. We even got so close on too many times, but just couldn't do it.

In last week's raid lockout the guild cleared all the bosses up to Sindragosa. And on the last day of the lockout, we worked with who we had online at the time and wiped quite a few times over stupid mistakes on Sindragosa. We got into the Frozen Throne and changed out a few players and said "LET'S DO THIS!"

AND WE DID! and guess what? We one-shotted it!!!! I mean it was like wow, for reals. The previous weeks, we wiped one after the other... each try lasting up to 20 minutes before we tried again. It was frustrating....

The movie shown at the end was pretty awesome too! Once the video started, our guild's vent went QUIET! and once the video ended, we were so pumped up about our new title.

So here are some screenshots because we all know... screenshots or it didn't happen.

I wanted to make a video of our encounter, but the Fraps program made my WoW lag so I didn't get a chance to.

this is the group we had when we downed Sindragosa for the first time. We then stepped into the Frozen Throne to catch a glimpse of the Lich King and to get a taste of what the fight would be like. Believe that we were intimidated just by the explanation of the fight.

Here's a screenshot right before we started the fight for the first time. Image is clickable to enlarge so you can check out the addons I use for my priest healer.

Guild screenshot with Lich King's dead body!

And I introduce one of WoW's newest Kingslayer, Jaclynrose!

It took us awhile to find a good guild to raid with after we left Legion and we finally found one in DötA. Up next are heroic modes in 10 man.

Check out the original FOTD post: Summertime

This time around I decided to go for the softer summertime look. Mainly because I don't have much time to go bold and bright. I have to wake up at 5:30AM, but most of the time I wake up at 6:30AM and I have to get to work at 7AM. I haven't made to work on time all summer, haha. So to try and do a fancy eye is nearly impossible. I prime, highlight, light color all over lid and add a slighly darker color to my crease. And this is what I came up with.

Man, I feel like the time that I didn't work and was staying at home taking care of baby E for the last half of 2009 has gotten me rusty on my makeup skills.

I didn't really go anywhere and didn't really wear makeup at all during the last half of 2009 and I think the makeup skills I did have went away. I guess practice makes perfect. Gotta start practicing again.

Anyways, I used MAC Espresso eyeshadow as an eyeliner to give it a softer look rather than being a harsh line with my usual fluidline. Works great!

P.S. I miss my long hair... I can't wait for it to grow out again. Maybe I'll even donate some more to the Locks of Love.
They just lay there on the bed feeling down and out. Not running around making a lot of noise, playing on the computer or with their friends. It's even harder to look at when they are babies.

Early in the last week, baby C (my middle son) came down with something and a fever broke out. He complained of his head hurting a lot and his throat feeling sore. It would hurt when he swallowed. It took a few days for baby C's fever to die down. We just thought it was a cold or flu bug and didn't think too much of it.

Then on Friday, both baby A (my oldest son) and baby E (my youngest, 15 months old) broke out in a fever. Mr. Man went home early from work to tend to the 2 boys. I ended up getting home about 5:30PM.

Both baby A and baby E were resting after taking some fever reducing medicine (tylenol). About 7:30 PM, baby E woke up from his nap and he was crankier than ever. Both Mr. Man and I tended to him. While I was cooking dinner, Mr. Man had him on his lap watching You Tube videos.

Then my mother in law came home and took baby E to her room to try and help comfort him. Next thing we hear is my mother in law screaming for us. Baby E's body started convulsing. Mr. Man ran to her room and brought him out to the kitchen and tried what he could to get baby E to stop.

While this was happening, I frantically ran around looking for the cell phone to call 911. Once baby E stopped convulsing, his body went limp like he stopped breathing and became unconscious. I was on the phone with the 911 operator and she was telling me instructions on what to do.

First and foremost, she told us to calm down. She can hear my mother in law screaming in the background and Mr. Man yelling at baby E to wake up.

I calmly told Mr. Man he needs to calm down, take off all of baby E's clothing and lay him on the floor to his left side. Baby E stopped breathing and Mr. Man then started CPR on him. After a few breaths and a couple of chest pumps, baby E started to softly cry.

And a few moments after that the paramedics showed up. Then baby E's cries got louder. The paramedics started asking us questions like his age and what exactly happened. After the ok from the paramedics I scooped up baby E into my arm and got on the gurney because they were taking us to the hospital.

This whole ordeal lasted about 6-8 minutes at most, from the time that baby E started convulsing to the time the paramedics showed up. It felt like it was in slow motion, though.

What exactly happened to baby E?

Baby E had a Febrile Seizure. A febrile seizure, also known as a fever fit or febrile convulsion, is a convulsion associated with a significant rise in body temperature. They most commonly occur in children between the ages of 6 months and 6 years and are twice as common in boys as in girls

As it turns out my boys had a throat infection which brought on the fever and sore throat.

And because baby E's temperature shot up so fast, his body reacted by having a seizure.

Once we got to the hospital, they checked baby E's temperature and it was at 102.6 degrees! They immediately gave him tylenol and ibuprofen to help bring the fever down. I just sat there with baby E comforting him the best I could. About an hour and a half later his temperature dropped to 100.2 degrees and we were able to take him home.

We had to monitor his fever throughout the night and the next day and we were able to get him back to normal temps by Sunday. The throat infection he has is called Herpangina which is a throat infection brought on by the Coxsackie group A viruses.

Basically the way it is brought on is when you don't thoroughly wash your hands after using the restroom and you touch your mouth or eat. Which is why it is common amongst children ages 3-10 years old. It also can be passed on to others by contact. So it is easily contagious.

Right now, since baby C had it first, he's doing a whole lot better. We're thinking it could have been passed on by the boys' friend who was here the week prior to the boys getting sick. But you never know. Sometimes my boys are lazy and they forget to wash their hands. Which is why it is important to keep pushing your kids no matter what on good hygiene. It is tough because you are not watching them all the time so all you can do is remind them and make sure they practice thorough hand washing.

Baby A is doing a lot better now too. He does complain of a sore throat still. But only thing we can do is wait out the infection since it a viral infection and not a bacterial infection which bacterial infections can be cured with antibiotics.

As for baby E, him being the baby, it hit him the hardest. His little body couldn't handle the infection which was the onset of his high fever which in turn led to a febrile seizure. Now that his fever is under control, the sore throat is what's bothering him the most. From what my older boys told me, it hurts when they swallow so that's basically what baby E is going through. It's hard for him to eat and drink and he's crying all the time about it. He hasn't been able to get much rest because I think the pain keeps waking him up.

He also has been holding his saliva in. He keeps his mouth closed and it looks like he has something in his mouth and when we open his mouth a fountain of drool comes out. Poor baby E. We've been giving him cold milk and water to try and keep him hydrated, but sometimes even that doesn't help.

This is the first time something like this has ever happened to Mr. Man and I. We didn't go through anything like this with my older two. It goes to show that all kids are totally different no matter how many kids you have!

All I want to say is that I hope that other parents don't have to go through that. But being that it is common (proven by the responses I got from my friends on my Facebook) amongst kids 6 months to 7 years of age, here are some tips on getting your baby's fever down.

When a fever breaks:

- Do NOT bundle your child. We made the mistake of doing that because we thought he was shivering because he was cold. By doing so, you're wrapping up the only way heat can escape from a person's body. And that is through their skin. If you need to, have your child in only his diaper or underwear.

- Call your doctor or doctor's nurses station to find out how much tylenol or ibuprofen to give your child. The amount on the back of the medicine bottle is a general number. It depends on their age and weight. Apparently, the amount we gave baby E was not enough as we thought it was.

- Place room temperature rags on your child's head or give your child a lukewarm bath to help cool them down. But with this method be very careful that they don't get too cold from the water as this can cause them to shiver. Shivering raises their body temperature thus defeating the purpose of cooling them down in the first place.

- On the medicine bottle, it tells you to give them another dosage every 4-6 hours. Try giving them doses every 3 - 3 1/2 hours. Reason being is because at the end of the 6 hours the medicine has worn off and the body is getting hot again. If you give them another dose before the medicine initially wears off it will help to keep the temperature down. It will also make sure that the medicine is doing it's job.

But if you should have to go through what Mr. Man and I did, then here are some tips on what to do.

If your child is having a seizure:

- Lay your child on the ground so that he cannot fall or hurt himself.

- Turn him to their side to allow secretions or vomit to drain from their mouth.

- If the seizure lasts for more than 5 minutes, call an ambulance or go to the emergency room at once.

- If the seizure is due to high fever, take off all their clothes to help cool them down immediately.

I am just so glad that baby E is ok. It was a very scary ordeal. I mean the sight of your child's eyes closing and his body going limp..... I can't even think about it right now.

Disclaimer: I am not a doctor nor am I a nurse. I am just a mother sharing my experience with Febrile Seizure and a 15 month old baby. The information used in this post was from the literature that the ER doctor gave me on my visit to the emergency room.

Don't worry, I'm still here! I just got sidetracked a little and didn't get to post up last week's check-in.

Before I continue with Week 4, I cheated and weighed myself today. Bad I know, I was supposed to wait until the end of this week. Anyways, I kind of depressed myself because it seems to look like I didn't lose ANY weight. I weighed in at 155 actually. But then I thought maybe it's because it was in the afternoon just after my workout and I've been chuggin' water all day.

Anyways, when I got home from my workout, I frantically looked for my measuring tape... haha couldn't find it for a good 20 minutes! Luckily, I have an extra one in my sewing kit.

Did the measuring and I am pleased to announce the results below:

* Bust: (Measure around the chest right at the nipple line, but don't pull the tape too tight)
38 inches/Week 4
38 inches/Week 2
lost 0 inches glad to see I didn't lose my boobs, lol.

* Chest: (Measure just under your bust)
34 inches/Week 4
36 inches/Week 2
lost 2 inches

* Waist: (Measure a half-inch above your belly button or at the smallest part of your waist)
33 inches/Week 4
34 inches/Week 2
lost 1 inch

* Hips: (Place tape measure around the biggest part of your hips)
37.5 inches/Week 4
38.5 inches/Week 2
lost 1 inch

* Thighs: (Measure around the biggest part of each thigh)
22 inches/Week 4
23.5 inches/Week 2
lost 1.5 inches

* Upper arm: (Measure around the largest part of each arm above the elbow)
11.5 inches/Week 4
11.5 inches/Week 2
lost 0 inches

How proud of me are you guys? =D

It definitely feels good to know that I did lose inches. Slowly but surely. Again, nothing too dramatic quite yet, but it has only been a couple of weeks since I first measured myself and since I didn't measure myself that first week, I'm sure I may have lost more since I first started Project 30 by 30.

Anyways, onto Week 4! I'm still trekkin' on!

Day 1, July 26: Did 35 minutes on the Precor 100i (elliptical). I challenged myself this week and I upped the resistance to 5. I can easily do 35 minutes now! I still do get tired real quick, but then I get 2nd wind after I've been going at it for 15 minutes and again when I'm done and going downstairs to do my weights.

Day 2, July 27: I downloaded Breaking Dawn (Twilight) audiobook so I can listen to it on my iPhone while at the gym... HAHA actually I listen to it at work too. Anyways, it makes the time go so much more faster! I'm up to switching resistance between 10 and 5 right now. I burn at least 400 minimum calories just on the Precor 100i. I've been doing those intense ab workouts too and apparently they seem to be helping.

Day 3, July 28: Why is it I'm seeing everyone I seem to know at the gym? Today, I just saw my ex-boss from PC Club. So random but at the same time, it's not a surprise, I mean she does live in the area and apparently works across the street from the gym. I jumped on the Precor 100i for another 35 minutes and then on the regular elliptical for another 10 minutes. Went downstairs to do a little weights and my ab exercises.

Day 4, July 29: Ok so today at the gym, I saw 2 of my buddies that I saw in the last couple of weeks, but this time I saw them talking to each other and I was like "You guys know each other?!"

HAHA, one of them I met while I was working at PC Club and the other I met when I was a part of the import scene. And apparently they went to school together. What a small small world. =P

Anyways, I jumped on the Precor 100i for a good 35 minutes and then went downstairs to do some ab exercises and that's when I saw my buddies. We did some ab exercises and he showed me some exercises with the free weights.

Day 5, July 30: Same thing, it's become a routine... 35 minutes on the Precor 100i while listening to Breaking Dawn. Did some weight training and my ab exercises.

Day 6, July 31: Today was my rest day. Stayed home and cleaned a lot of house, but only after getting out of bed at 1PM =X

Day 7, August 1: Since I didn't go the day before I went and stayed for about 1 1/2 hours. Jumped on the Precor 100i for 35 minutes and the regular elliptical for another 10 minutes, then did my ab exercises and a little weight training. And I saw my ex regional manager of PC Club.. yeah I know! I see everyone! =P

Oh and off topic, but I'm so mad because I got a speeding ticket when I was coming home from the gas station after I left the gym. =(

Anyways, I know I didn't report much this week. I've been so off lately, really tired. Baby E still wakes up in the middle of the night. I never get a break with this kid, lol.

I haven't even been logging my food and exercise in LoseIt. I promise this week I will. But I haven't been eating like crap or anything, I've been watching what I take in.

So until next week's check-in! Yay, I'm so happy I'm seeing results. =D

This week's SOTW (Site of the Week) is that of a hometown acquaintance of mine, Kuya Jep Photography.

My memory of Jeff when I first saw him on Myspace a few years ago was "OMG, I used to have a major crush on this guy back in junior high when I was just a boy crazy 7th grader and he was an 8th grader. I bet he didn't even know who I was back then. LOL, funny I know. Ahhh, memories...

Anyways, we're all grown up now and I've been following his work since I accepted his friend request on Myspace. From his work with models, to family portraits, engagement photos to wedding pictures and just about everything else he does.

And here I am to share with you all some of his work. I got a chance to see him work at my friend's wedding, the one where I Rocked that Red Dress and I met his lovely wife, Berdette.

Here are some photos taken from his blog that he took of my friend's wedding, Kat and Scott's Wedding in San Diego, CA.
With this method it is definitely a risk especially with concealed cash. But I am opening up these payment types for those that do not have Paypal or a credit card to use on Google Checkout.

When placing an order at my eCrater store, it will let you know who to make the check payable to and where to send it when checking out.

If I don't receive payment within a week from when the order was placed, order will be cancelled and items will be put back up for sale.

Order will be shipped as soon as payment has cleared which can take up to 3-5 business days from the day I receive payment in the mail.

FYI: Using this method, it can take up to 3-4 weeks before you get your order in the mail.
The name sounded intriguing so I google'd it and found some swatches.

When I saw that it had red sparkles in it, knowing me, of course I wanted it so bad! I didn't have time to head out to a Sally's so I checked Ulta near my work and nothing....

I didn't want to drive out to Sally's in Rowland Heights because it was totally out of my way so I tried to see if there were any small beauty supply stores in my area, but nothing.

Then on Thursday, I decided to go to Sally's website to use their store locator and I didn't realize there was a Sally's right by my work. Actually in the same plaza as the Ulta. OMG! haha, here I was trying to figure out where to get it. And there was a Sally's right there all along.

I called them to make sure they had it in stock and they did. So during my lunch break I headed over there and picked it up.

I have always been a nail biter since I was a kid and since my nails don't grow out, I have to get a full set of acrylic nails if I want to have any length at all.

So I had to wait until this weekend to get them done up. I brought my bottle of China Glaze nail polish and got my nails done at my favorite place, Nail Spa Lane, in Diamond Bar.

Overall, I like it, but I feel that the red could stand out a little more like it does in the bottle. It's basically black nails with a tiny bit of red sparkle to it.

I opted to get the gel (makes it really shiny) to have the color last a long time. I read that this color may chip after 3 days. Although I like the color, it's not something I see myself using all the time. I guess it'll be an alternative to going all black.. at least this gives it a bit of a sparkle when hit by light or the sun. Or a dark side alternative to Ruby Pumps (my most favorite CG polish)

indoors, no gel or topcoat

outdoors, direct sunlight (against the bottle) with the gel overlay.

outdoors again... don't worry, I was at a red light when I took this pic, lol.

Here's a very very simple smokey eye that I did. When I say simple, I'm talking about just 2 eyeshadow colors and a lot of blending!

Basically I took my highlight eyeshadow, MAC Brulé, and swept it all over my lid over Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden. Then took a black eyeshadow, in this case, MAC Cloudburst, and put it on my outer lid. I took my blending brush, MAC 224, and went to town blending it upward and outwards.

I followed that with Blacktrack fluidline and donned my eyelashes with MAC Opulash mascara. Finished it up with MAC Technakohl Graphblack on my lower waterline and MAC Espresso eyeshadow to fill in my brows.

For my face, I primed it with Smashbox Photofinish primer in Blend and put on MAC Select SPF 15 liquid foundation in NC44 and set my face with MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Dark. Played up my cheeks with MAC Prim & Proper blush and finished the look with MAC Utter Pervette lipstick.

Got this all done within 20 minutes.... Now my hair is a total different story, lol.

Products Used: (All MAC unless noted)

Face:
Smashbox Photofinish primer in Blend
Select SPF15 liquid foundation NC44
Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium Dark

I haven't uploaded any videos, but I will be doing so soon. I actually will probably make a new video this weekend and make it my official first video of the J.Rose Online You Tube Channel.

So stay tuned.

Ooops, almost forgot to include the channel link =P

http://www.youtube.com/jroseonline

So subscribe, be my friend... I need to re-do my subscription list. Also, I deleted all the videos from my old You Tube channel so if you come across old posts on here that included videos from my old channel, it will no longer show up. Sorry about that.

NEW EMAIL: jroseonline@gmail.com

This new email address will now be associated with my ecrater store, my blog here and my ebay account.

I will also be creating a new YouTube channel under the same name of jroseonline so stay tuned for that!

I still have my other email address, jaclynrose@teamlegion.net, but I'm making it more consistent by using one email address for all the services I use for this blog and ecrater store.
I've been going to the gym for 3 weeks now. So let's count, I went to the gym 17 out of 21 days. That's pretty darn good if you ask me.

This week I tried to take it up a notch. I added minutes on to the cardio portion of my workout.

I've been watching what I eat as in calorie intake, but I do give myself a cheat day once in awhile. I need to cut back on that!

Anyways, so how did my week go?

Day 1, July 19: I forgot my phone at home! =*( I was debating on whether to stop by the house first and get it or just head to the gym with no music.

I went to the gym with no music. I didn't even bring my headphones so I can at least listen to the TV. I just trekked on the elliptical and people watched. I did 35 minutes on the elliptical and actually lasted 15 minutes on the stairmaster.

Followed by 30 minutes of light/moderate weight lifting.

Day 2, July 20: All the standard elliptical machines I usually go on were all taken so I jumped on the Precor 100i elliptical.

I like this machine, I feel like I'm getting a better workout than the traditional elliptical. It feels like I'm walking in sand. I can also change my step and it's like I'm on a stair stepper. I did 35 minutes on this! Added on 15 minutes of the regular elliptical and 10 minutes on the stairmaster.

Followed up with 30 minutes of light/moderate weight training.

Day 3, July 21: Today, I was really out of it so I only got in 25 minutes on the Precor 100i and 5 minutes on the stairmaster. As I was walking downstairs to do my weight training, I saw an old buddy of mine who was working out his abs. It's been a couple of years since I last saw him. He lost a lot of weight and buffed up! I asked him what he was working on and he showed me some crazy ab exercises on the bench.

I will take pictures next time of it, but they are intense! I was sore the next day. I did those with him for about 30 minutes. Then went home.

Day 4, July 22: My abs were pretty sore! I did 35 minutes on the Precor 100i and 20 minutes on the regular elliptical. Wow, that's 55 minutes of cardio! I'm regaining the strength in my lungs! Don't get me wrong, I'm still breathing like crazy! But I think I get 2nd wind after I hit that 15 minute mark and again at the 35 minute mark. Woohoo!

After that, went downstairs to work on some upper body weight lifting and then followed that up with those crazy ab exercises. I'll be sure to take pics next time I'm with my buddy.

Day 5, July 23: Today I took the day off from work. I had quite a bit of flex hours to work with so I just took the day off. I ended up watching a movie on video on demand the night before and didn't go to sleep until almost 2:30AM. So the next morning when I woke up, I was so tired!

So on this day at the gym, I only did 35 mins on the Precor 100i and 10 minutes on the regular elliptical. I really had to push myself to get the last 10 minutes in. I was really beat! Kept telling myself to push! And I did. But I was so tired that I left it at 45 minutes of cardio. Good enough, though, right?

Day 6, July 24: Today was such a cheat day! I totally took the day off. I had lunch with my BFF and one of the Team Legion Ladies that we lost touch with for the last 4 years.

We had Italian food and Cinnabon for dessert. Oh and add in 2 apple martinis. Yeah total cheat day! Unless you count chattin' it up to burn some calories because we did a whole lot of talking!

Then later that evening, I went with Mr. Man to watch Eclipse. Yeah I am so late in joining that bandwagon. But that's a whole different story, I'll save for another post.

Day 7, July 25: Today I hit the gym with a vengeance! Only because of the day before! I ended up doing 35 minutes on the Precor 100i and 20 minutes on the regular elliptical. Followed up by the crazy ab exercises. I'm telling you these ab exercises are intense!!

And that there folks, is Week 3!

OMG, look at how much I cheated on Saturday!!! Other than that, though, I can definitely see a difference. I don't think it's that big of a difference, though. I still feel "heavy" or the same as when I began. But I do notice the poochy pouch has gone down significantly. Nothing too drastic though. I am so tempted to jump on the scale or measure myself because I just know I lost something whether it be pounds or inches.

As for energy, I'm still struggling, but I think it's only because I'm still not getting enough sleep at night. The baby still wakes up in the middle of the night ruining whatever sleep I may be getting.

I'm still taking the vitamins I started taking a few weeks ago. But I get the most sleepy/tired at work between 8:30-10AM. Then after that I'm ok.

I'm so proud of myself though. Let's hope I do keep this up! Until next check-in! I hope to have more images to share with you!
I know this post is a day late, but I was so busy yesterday setting up my boys' room. It took me all day!

Anyways, Week 2 I've been pushing myself a little harder. Trying to get more minutes on the elliptical, adding more weights to my weight training. So far so good...

I started counting calories and watching my food intake. I need to find a guide on what types of food I should be taking in because I know counting calories is not enough. I am using an iPhone App called LoseIt.

Read on to see how my second week went and more about the LoseIt app...

Let's start off with this new app I started using. It's actually helped me quite a bit. Makes me realize how much caloric intake I have on a daily basis.

First you input your current weight and your goal. It then calculates what is your calorie budget for you to reach your goal. Here's my screenshot.

I started using the app on July 12. Since I weighed myself the week before I'll be doing my weigh-in on August 5th and update my goal screen.

Here's the next screenshot. This is the first day I started using the app. So you basically input the foods you ate for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. You also input the exercises you did that day. It's pretty accurate in calculating the numbers for you. The food list is good enough to find a lot of different foods that one may eat. It even includes some restaurants and supermarket foods.

I combined 3 different screenshots.

By the end of the week you can see where you overbudgeted your calorie intake, especially if you have "cheat days".

Here's that info in my next screenshot. You can see that on Saturday and Sunday, I totally went over my budget only because I didn't go to the gym and I went out with my girlfriends on Saturday night.

So yes, this app seems to be working out ok so far for me.

I completely forgot to take my measurements when I first started Project 30 by 30, so I took those measurements on Monday. Here they are:

* Bust: 38 inches
(Measure around the chest right at the nipple line, but don't pull the tape too tight)
* Chest: 36 inches
(Measure just under your bust)
* Waist: 34 inches
(Measure a half-inch above your belly button or at the smallest part of your waist)
* Hips: 38.5 inches
(Place tape measure around the biggest part of your hips)
* Thighs: 23.5 inches
(Measure around the biggest part of each thigh)
* Upper arm: 11.5 inches
(Measure around the largest part of each arm above the elbow)

I will take measurements once a month, along with my weight and record them here. I'll do the next measurement on August 5, the same day I'll do my next weigh in.

I also started using a <a href="http://www.target.com/Embark-Slimmer-Belt-Blue-S/dp/B002N0V0DG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&searchView=grid5&qid=1279602927&frombrowse=0&fromGsearch=true&node=1038576|1287991011&keywords=belt%20fitness&searchSize=30&id=Embark%20Slimmer%20Belt%20Blue%20S&searchBinNameList=subjectbin%2Cprice%2Ctarget_com_primary_color-bin%2Ctarget_com_size-bin%2Ctarget_com_brand-bin&searchNodeID=1038576|1287991011&searchRank=target104545&sr=1-1&searchPage=1&rh=" target=_blank">slimmer belt. It's basically a belt that you wear around your waist while you are working out. It supposed to bring out the water around your waist by making you sweat profusely around that particular area.

I searched on the net for reviews and I read up on good and bad reviews on this. I have been using it everyday since Monday and I may not notice a difference quite yet, but I'm going to continue to use it if in fact it does help.

I'll post pics on next week's check-in of me wearing it. I also have photos of the different machines I use at the gym which I'll also post up on next week's check in.

Here we go..
Day 1, July 12: I jumped on the elliptical machine today for 25 minutes. I'm still getting winded. I'm going to try and push myself to go for 30 minutes. While I'm on the elliptical, why do I keep watching the time. It seems like time goes by slowly. Pandora keeps throwing in random songs or slow jams. I need fast music to get me going! That reminds me, I need to update my iPhone music list.

After the elliptical, I jumped on the stairmaster. I cannot for the life of me go any longer than 5 minutes on this machine. My quads are burning!

Jumped on the weight machines for a good 30 minutes and I was good.

Day 2, July 13: It's a routine for me now, I jump on the elliptical for 25 minutes and then the stairmaster and then do my rounds on the weight machines.

Off topic: As I was sweatin' my balls off on the elliptical, I see these 2 asian girls walk upstairs and I kid you not they have a full face of makeup... Foundation, blush, heavy eyeliner and EVEN false eyelashes. Why do girls do that?!?! I mean that can't be good for your skin, sweat and foundation melting off your face. I mean when I'm on that elliptical, I'm sweatin' like a pig!

Apparently, it's the norm to see that select few girls who do that at a gym. It's like really?!?!

Ok moving on... I skipped out on the stairmaster because they were all taken and I didn't feel like waiting. Jumped on the weight machines and I was good.

Day 3, July 14: Today I did the same routine. 25 minutes on the elliptical, 5 minutes on stairmaster and 30 minutes weight training. Although today, time went by a bit quicker as I was on the elliptical... Could it be, I'm building up my stamina? Awesome!

Day 4, July 15: As I was putting on my bra that morning, I noticed that I can use the very inner hook. I wasn't able to do that for awhile. Does that mean I'm losing inches?? I'm very curious about how much I weigh. I notice the upper part of my torso just at my chest area is starting to get skinnier. I still have a major poochy pouch, but I'm workin' on it.

Today I totally cheated and had me a piece of chocolate cake. It was someone's last day at work so a cake was bought. It was so delicious.

Because of that piece of cake, I went for the whole 30 minutes on the elliptical. Ok actually I went for 35 minutes. I was pushing myself to go that last 5 minutes to make it 30 minutes. As the time was counting down, I was like, ok almost done...

but no.... there was another 5 minutes added on for the cooldown session. I pushed on and did 35 minutes! Then proceeded to the stairmaster for 5 minutes and weight training for 30 minutes.

Day 5, July 16: Another day with 35 minutes on the elliptical. It really does seem like it's getting a bit easier for me to last that long. Don't get me wrong, I get so tired just after 5 minutes, but I'm now starting to realize that 10 minutes will pass by and it feels like it didn't take that long. Yay, I'm getting used to it! Of course, following routine, I did 5 minutes on the stairmaster and 30 minutes on the weight training.

Day 6, July 17: I got my hair cut early in the morning and I really didn't want to sweat in my new hair so I decided to use this day as my rest day. I went out with my girls to the Melting Pot and totally made this day definitely a cheat day.

Day 7, July 18: I didn't even wake up until about 11AM this day. I had a lot of housechores to take care of so I did that. I planned on hitting up the gym this day, but we caught Twilight on demand on Verizon FIOS and by the time it was done, it was already late so I didn't go to the gym. I feel pretty bad about it, I promised myself to work super, extra hard in the following week.

Week 2 done. It feels like it is getting easier by the day. I really need to work on my eating habits and make sure to limit my cheat days. I am also noticing my waist slimming, nothing too noticeable, but nonetheless, I see improvement.

Yay, I'm getting excited!

Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that makes hair pieces for kids with medical hair loss from any diagnosis. People like you and I donate our hair so that they can use it to make the hair pieces for these children.

For more info on Locks of Love: http://www.locksoflove.org

Some of you know that I've been growing my hair out for this cause. And today is the day I went out and chopped off my hair!

Here is how long my hair was as of yesterday.

Here are a few pictures showcasing my hair.

w/ Baby E at his First Birthday party

this was taken at work... a day when I got to straighten my hair with my HerStyler flat iron.

wearing a spongebob shirt and you can see that the shirt inspired this FOTD

So there are a few different pics. All the same, haha.. the one thing that is the same is the color. I haven't dyed my hair in I would say 2 1/2 years now.

Anyways, I don't know what came over me. I guess I was browsing the Locks of Love website and noticed that they do take layered hair, which was one of my concerns. As long as the longest layer is at least 10 inches. So that just made me say... "Just do it already!"

AND I DID!

just like that with the swipe of a barber knife, my hair guy chopped off my hair!

What hairstyle did I go with? I went for a Victoria Beckham'ish A Line bob haircut. I've had this hairstyle in the past and I thought I'd resurrect it.

I also went for highlights as I was really tired of my dark brown/black hair that I've been sportin' for the last 3-4 years.

AND HERE I AM! I introduce to you my new hair!

It's been a LONG time since I've had it this short! My head feels so much lighter, like a weight has been lifted off. Also the color, I LOVE IT! What do you think?

side view

I had to throw this pic in. As I was taking pictures, baby E climbed up on my back just to be in the pic.

with my ponytail of hair

Look at that! That's a lot of hair! I wonder if this alone can make one wig!

So what do you think? I said it's about time and I'm glad I did it. Not only does my head feel lighter, and I have a new hair color, I am donating to a great cause that help children in need.

Has anyone donated to Locks of Love? It seems easy enough, fill out their form, stuff the hair in a ziploc, stuff in an envelope, mail it to them and then 3 months later get a thank you card. Is that how it works?

Overall, I feel great. I feel so optimistic about this goal I set for myself. One thing I know I do need to work on is my eating habits. I know for a fact that I need to cut down on my rice intake. Notice how I say cut down because I know that I can not live without rice. Who knows, maybe I'll cut it out completely.

Anyways, I visited the doctor about 2 weeks ago and she suggested that I take a good amount of supplemental vitamins. Here's what she recommended to take on a daily basis:

B100 Complex
Calcium
a Multivitamin
Omega 3

So on top of my thyroid medication, I need to take these vitamins. She said that I'll notice a difference in myself after awhile. I have yet to see that difference, but I'll keep taking them. I do need to remind myself to buy a pill cutter (those dang pills are HUGE!) and a pill case/box.

Anyways, read on to see how my first week went...

Day 1, July 5: I took the first step and took myself to the gym to sign up. I sat with the guy and told him my goals and he help set me up with a membership. The week prior I went on the gym's website and actually signed up for a free session with a personal trainer. So I met her, let's call her K, and we set up a session for that Wednesday. I did not work out this day, but I put myself on the right track.

Day 2, July 6: I left work at about 4:10PM and I got there around 4:30PM. After I changed, I jumped onto the elliptical machine and I lasted about 25 minutes. I wanted to go for 30 minutes, but being an ex-smoker and not having worked out at all or hardly ever for the last hmmmm... 5 years, I got winded pretty fast. Then I went downstairs to have a crack at the machines, but OMG I was so overwhelmed. I didn't know which ones to jump on, let alone how to use any of them. I got discouraged so I went home.

Day 3, July 7: I got the same locker again =P haha, I got there at about 4:30PM and I had to meet with the trainer, K, at 5 PM. As I waiting at the front for her, I totally felt that earthquake. So I went back to my locker and had to call Mr. Man to see if the kids were ok. Ok came back up front and met with K for my free session. As we walked upstairs, she asked of me my goals, health issues I may have and what I eat. She had me jump on the elliptical for about 10 minutes and funny thing that happened, I saw an old friend so I asked if I could stop so I can say hi. Off topic, I know, but it's crazy to see people you know at the gym especially where you think you wouldn't run into them.

Anyways, after I got off the elliptical she had me on the stair machine and I climbed for about another 10 minutes. Then she took me downstairs. I did a little stretching with a couple of their stretching machines. (I'll take some pictures of these machines when I'm there this upcoming week so you guys know what I'm talking about).

I did a lot this day. So after stretching, she had me do some leg workouts. I always have had big legs. The mean boys used to call me thunder thighs back in elementary/jr. high.. mean, I know!!! So I really don't want to bulk up my legs but I do want to tone them, especially my inner thighs. So I worked on my quads and hamstrings. She had me doing 2 sets of 20 reps. The one where I worked my quads... OH MAN! killed me! I forgot what weight I was using, but I'll report it when I go again.

So after that, I did the chest press and one for the upper back muscles, gotta go see which one that is again when I go this week and I'll let you know. I also did some bicep curls. Then she had me do some crunches on the bench and plank hold for the abs.

It wasn't too bad for my first day on using the weight machines.

After we were done, she checked my body fat and went over my goal with me. Gave me suggestions on supplements, protein shakes and snacks. She also talked to me about scheduling more sessions. I told her that I want to do it. Only because I feel that it would help motivate me because I'll feel like I have to check in with someone. So that will force me to stick with my plan. I meet with her in about 2 weeks on the 21st.

I went home that day feeling better because I'm not lost with what to do anymore.

Day 4, July 8: I got a routine going... that is on getting there, washing my makeup off and getting dressed and on the machines in no time. I need to remind myself to find my iPhone holder. You know the armband.. haha yeah that's what it's called. Because when I'm on the machines I have no idea where to put my iPhone so I stick it in my tank top between my breasts and I'm sure all that sweat is not good for my phone, lol.

Anyways, I jumped on the elliptical but this time I went on the one that also has the moving arm handles. I only lasted about 20 minutes. I was really winded. Then I jumped on the stair machine and got on there for about 5 minutes. It's really killer on the quads.

I did my rounds on the machines, the same ones my trainer, K, showed me. I skipped out on the leg extensions because for the life of me, I couldn't remember what machine it was. I also skipped out on the plank holds because people were in the area, I ended up doing those plank holds at home when we were watching the Lebron James Decision special on ESPN.

Day 5, July 9: I ended up working overtime at work. Was supposed to get out at 3PM (Fridays we're allowed to leave one hour earlier than our normal time). I didn't get out of work until almost 5 PM. I was frustrated so I took out my frustrations on the elliptical machine. I jumped on the one with the moving handle bars again. This time, I went about 23 minutes on it non-stop and burned 200 calories. I also jumped on the stair machine but only for 5 minutes.

Did my rounds on the machines. Is it just me or every time I want to go on a certain machine, SOMEONE is always on it. =P I'm getting used to my routine by now. I like it. Oh and by the way, I see the guy that signed me up almost every day so I wave and say a quick hello, but I go on my way because I don't want to chit chat. LOL.

Later at home that night, I jumped in the jacuzzi and boy did that feel good! Also Mr. Man was kind enough to massage my sore muscles which helped a lot.

Day 6, July 10: It's Saturday, I woke up at 1PM. I guess I was so tired all week that I really slept in. But I did have to factor in that the night before we get a call from friends who had a flat tire at 1AM. So we went out there to help them and didn't get to bed until 2AM.

Anyways, today I only jumped on the elliptical for my cardio, but I lasted 25 minutes this time! I really hope to build my stamina/endurance. I burned 220 calories. I didn't go on the stair machine because my quads were really sore and I didn't want to hurt them. Then I jumped on the same weight machines. I also did my plank holds. This time it really hurt, I was struggling on that third try. Oh for plank holds, I hold for 20 seconds the first time, take a quick break, then hold for 25 seconds and another quick break. When I say quick, I rest for about 10-15 seconds in between. And on the last try, I hold for 30 seconds and OMG that is killer!

So after that I weighed myself... bad bad bad idea. I must remember that muscle weighs more than fat. I also must remind myself to watch what I eat. On top of making sure I'm eating right, I need to make sure I'm eating enough too. I plan on keeping a food journal to measure my intake.

I also plan on making my lunches rather than going out to eat. I hope that will help me out.

What I'll do instead is measure in inches different areas of my body. I'll have those results on my next week's check in. I will also limit my weigh ins to once a month. So I weighed myself at the start of this project. I'll weigh myself and report it in a month.

Day 7, July 11: Rest day. My muscles have taken a beating after not working out in so long. I plan to push myself a little bit harder in the next week. I want to go the full 30 minutes in cardio. I want to work up the weights I use.... One step at a time though. I want to make sure I record my food intake. I know I need to cut back on the carbs which looks like I eat a lot of. I need to remember to take my vitamins everyday. There are a few days I forget because I'm running out the door so quickly in the morning.

I've been drinking at least 2 liters of water everyday. I need to drop coffee out of my diet. I get so sleepy at around 8:30AM at work. I need to find an alternative to coffee to wake myself up at that time. I've already dropped soda out of my diet.

I will try to take a photo this week. It's only been a week since I started working out. I want a "before" photo to reference to in the future.

So not only am I sharing my experience with you all, I'm making this my personal journal of my journey. Thanks for being by my side. Just knowing you guys read this helps to motivate me even more. Until next check in!

Also if you have any other ideas, words of encouragement, suggestions, comments, feel free to let me know. I welcome all comments.

As most of you know, I'll be turning 30 at the end of the year in November.

I decided now is the time I need to get crackin' on my goal of being at my goal weight by the time I turn 30. Something I said I've been wanting to do since the beginning of this year.

So the title "Project 30 by 30" = to lose 30 pounds by the time I turn 30.

A few months ago, I started a challenge with Mr. Man: Husband/Wife Weight Loss Challenge. And while it was a good idea, there was no motivation on my end and I ended up losing 8 pounds only to gain it back. So there goes that idea.

I figured summertime is here, my kids are out of school, my work schedule changed to 7AM - 4PM. It was perfect!

So I came up with a plan. I knew that I needed to get my workout done outside of the home as every time I come home, I'm bombarded with "Mommy this or Mommy that" or "Hunnie this or Hunnie that" or "Anak this or Anak that" (Anak = child, referring to what my mom calls me). With my work schedule starting an hour and a half earlier that allows me to get out of work by 4 PM. I go straight to the gym and by the time I'm done it should be 5:30 - 6 PM (depending on what time I get there). Then when I get home, I can give my undivided attention to my family and not have to worry about trying to find time for myself.

For the last 5 years or so, I've been concentrating so much on everyone else around me that I forgot about myself. It's time I take the time to concentrate on getting myself to a healthier me.

Here's a little background on myself...

I'm 5 feet tall. When I was pregnant with my oldest son, I weighed in at about 115 pounds. On the day I gave birth, I weighed in at 140 pounds, gaining 25 pounds during that pregnancy. Two weeks after his birth, I lost all pregnancy weight and dropped to about 110 pounds.

Then I got pregnant with my 2nd son and shot up to about 150 pounds by the time I gave birth. With this pregnancy, it took me about 3-4 months to lose the pregnancy weight and I dropped to about 120 pounds. So there I stayed at about 120-125 pounds.

Then I started working at PC Club. Over the course of the 5 years that I worked there, I gained about 20 pounds and I teetered at about 135-140 pounds, which wasn't too bad, but I wanted to lose the extra 20 pounds that I gained and go back to 120-125 pounds, but I worked so much that I hardly had any time to go to the gym or work out at home.

Then I got pregnant with baby E and shot up to my most heaviest at 168 pounds, gaining 28 pounds during that pregnancy. About 3 weeks after the birth of baby E, I lost that 28 pounds and I thought that it would jump start my mission on getting back to 120-125 pounds, but this baby was a handful to take care of so again no time for myself.

Then a few months passed by and I started to notice myself gaining weight. I wasn't working out, but I wasn't eating more than I usually do and on top of that I was still breastfeeding so why was I gaining weight?

As it turns out, I developed hypothyroidism which jacked up the hormones that breaks down food into energy, therefore causing me to gain the weight. I shot up to 154 pounds. The most I ever weighed (aside from being pregnant or just after giving birth).

With the weight loss challenge we started a few months ago, like I mentioned I only lost 8 pounds, but gained it right back.

And that's where I'm at right now...

Weight: 154 pounds
Height: 5'0"
Body Fat: 31%
BMI: 30.1

For body fat, I am still in the acceptable range for my age, but it's borderline unhealthy. My BMI indicates I'm in the Obesity range. So as you can see, I really want to do something about it. I need to. I want to. It's time! And I'm not kidding! I will do it!

This post is an intro to my newest project. At first, as a woman, I didn't want anyone to know how much I actually weigh because if you look at me, you wouldn't guess that I weigh what I do. But I figured if I get it out there, it'll help motivate me to show myself and everyone else that I can do it!

I started Project 30 by 30 earlier this week and I am going to check in once a week and let you all know how my week has gone. I got about 5 months to lose 30 pounds. It is do-able so it's not an outrageous goal.

My next post will be about Week 1 of Project 30 by 30.

I know I haven't posted an entry in almost a month and I thank those readers that still come by and I want to welcome any new readers I've accumulated over time.

Welcome to my life online, welcome to J.Rose Online!

P.S. Sorry for the picture-less post.

w/ my very handsome date.

OOTD: red dress, earrings and necklace from Forever 21. Total: $50
I forgot where I got the shoes from (had them for at least 9 years, lol) and bracelets from Charlotte Russe.

Over the weekend, my family and I were invited to the wedding of a good friend of mine from back home. So Mr. Man and I packed up the boys and headed all the way down south to sunny San Diego.

The wedding ceremony and reception was held at the Mission Bay Hyatt hotel. The wedding ceremony was held outdoors at about 6PM just in time for sunset. It was a bit windy, but all in all it was a beautiful ceremony.

The original dress I wanted to wear to this event was a purple one, but I went shopping last minute and the Forever 21 I went to didn't have the dress I wanted in the color I wanted. So I grabbed about 10 dresses to try on. I ended up going with the red dress you see above, only because it was the only dress that I tried on that looked right, lol.

So I said to myself, I can rock this. As I hopped out of the fitting room area, I looked around the accessories area and luckily found the perfect necklace and earrings to go with this dress. I had the shoes and bracelets already and that perfected the look I was going for.

As for makeup and hair, after seeing a pic of Kim Kardashian, it inspired the bump in my hair. I didn't use the Bumpits for this look. I went ahead and did a lot of teasing to get my hair that high. And what better than to go with a smokey eye/neutral lip with gray contacts. I think the hair and the makeup topped off this outfit. And yes, I must say so myself that I rocked that red dress.

Anyways, the reception that followed was great! The food was actually really good and yup, there was an open bar! So a LOT of us were feelin' good that night. I just want to say congrats to the newlyweds, Scott and Kat!

Here's a closer look at the makeup and bump in my hair.
