I was looking through some of my older art and I still love the pair above, I can't believe I did them back in 2009! I'm going to go back and revisit that style. Already made one so far, my husband isn't too keen on the color combo. What do you think?

Loving this song and video by Norwegian band Donkeyboy. Went onto their Facebook page and found a bunch of behind the scene photo's from the video shoot. This looked like one big fun craft project. Are those cabbages?

Fun with toothpicks

Made a fun little sculpture for one of my new shelves. I was going to make it a bit bigger, but I lost interest since I didn't really have the right glue for the job. The unpainted tooth picks were rejects, ugly glue globs. I hope someone out there has fun making one, I want to see pictures!

My new children's fabric line with Moda

I'm thrilled to announce my new fabric line called Ten Little Things, which will be hitting the market this March.

I didn't really think of it until now, but I guess this is more of a boy friendly fabric. I'm not really a "pink" kind of gal, so I just never use it, well maybe peach, but no pink. Anyway, If you want to see more click here to see a PDF of all the designs that will be available. Happy quilting!

DIY Floating shelves, part 4

Hooray! They are up! I had so much fun decorating. I'm even thinking of doing a huge wall of these to replace my Ikea bookcases on the adjacent wall. Seeing this project done makes me want to do so much more! I want to make a storage bench/table to go under these shelves, and I'd love to have a really cool sconce to light up that corner... but I'll go into more detail on that later.

Priming and painting done! Wall brackets are screwed into the concrete wall, the shelves can now slide on and be secured with a few small screws on top. Now after days of waiting I can finally decorate this sucker!!

DIY Floating shelves, part 2

A lot of work goes into making these shelves, even they look soo simple from far away, like one solid piece. These shelves are actually kind of complicated and time consuming, but the end result will be worth it.

Progress: Most of the pieces have been cut and the inside structure has already been assembled with wood glue and brads (nails from a nail gun). The top and bottom piece is on, now it's time for loads of sanding.

My house has a few nice spots for placing art, but most of the walls are filled with either bookcases or large windows. I have this one interesting area I've always wanted to do something with but didn't know what until now.

Ok, so I recently was looking through some West Elm catalogues that I keep around for inspiration and I really liked their floating wall shelves. I thought wow this would be perfect for that spot, but of course they don't have the size I need, So I'll have my husband Al build me some that will fit in perfectly.

I put up blue tape to roughly show you where they would go, would like to have maybe 3 or 4 shelves. They won't be very deep, maybe 5" at most. Finally a place where I can showcase framed art, a few vases and other thrift store finds.

I've been working on some new paintings, I make them using acrylic paint and cut paper. This one above was going to be in a show, but then I stuck it on my dinning room wall and I thought wow that looks really good there. Sorry, I think I'm keeping this one.
