The Miracle Cure for Melasma

Melasma or in our own native language, "pekas", is a common skin condition affecting asians especially when they can't prevent having themselves exposed under the sun. Though the etiology or the cause is unknown, there is a causal relationship between female hormonal activity to the occurence of melasma. But still the most important factor in the development of melasma is exposure to sunlight. Without the strict avoidance of sunlight, potentially successful treatments for melasma are doomed to fail.

In clinical practice, common treatments such as chemical peels, microdermabrasion, stem cell therapy or any procedures that can gently exfoliate the surface layer of the skin can help minimize darkening but for some patients, this will take a lot of sessions and patients can spend a fortune on this while trying to wait for their dark patches to eventually subside. This condition is so stubborn to treatments that patients might eventually give up and feel frustrated.

When confronted by a patient with this condition, I am frank to tell the real score about melasma, never promising guaranteed results after several treatments. This is only until when I met people from Body_estetic Laboratories and invited me over to their symposium. Body_estetic is an international company from Spain that innovated the breakthrough non-hydroquinone based peel for melasma. I said "breakthrough" because this peeling is very different from the ones which dermatologists do to their patients. I said "different" because usually chemical peeling is done in a form of any chemicals meant to exfoliate a layer of skin cells that literally burns the skin. And on the second session during the third week, it is barely recognizable. We tried this on our patient in the clinic and we can't believe the results. Our patient who has been in the clinic for about a year now has tried various peeling procedures every now and then in an attempt to lighten her hyperpigmentation. But honestly, we have only afforded a slight to moderate improvement on her condition. But with the use of COSMELAN, only a single application can really tell the difference. There is at least 70% significant lightening only after the first session. She underwent her second session only last week and we are quite anxious to see her again in the clinic for the outcome. Dermaroller Skin Needling

Skin Needling or Micro-Needling is a form of Collagen Induction Therapy which is intended to smooth wrinkles, improve depressed acne scarring as well as reduce the appearance of stretch marks. It is one the newest, easiest and most effective skin treatments available. This is aided by a device known as a dermaroller.

Micro needling is process carried out with a roller that is covered with numerous tiny needles. These needles penetrate the upper layers of skin to a depth of up to 2mm (depending on the needle length used). This process has two major benefits. It effectively stimulates collagen formation at the same time as providing a clear channel for topical gels and creams to be absorbed more effectively through the top layer (epidermis) of skin. Microneedling creates a very minor (almost microscopic) trauma which lasts for a short period of time and does not result in bruising or swelling or bleeding in the treated area.

The Latest in Slimming Technology - LipoMelt

We are very pleased to announce that our clinic have acquired the latest craze in slimming treatment. This is what we call the Lipomelt Cavitation Treatment. In this treatment, we use a cavitation machine called lipoderm, which generates ultrasound waves to break down cellulites and fats. When ultrasound waves passes thru a liquid or semi-liquid medium such as the adipose tissue or fats, it creates an expansion (negative pressure) and compression (positive pressure) waves. This effect gives rise to a "vapour bubbles" or "cavitation bubbles", because as we all know bubbles are made up of a hollow cavity in its interior. This cavitation bubbles continue to grow and later on collapse. When they collapse, they generate high local temperature peaks and related high energy chemical processes which then breaks off or literally melt the fats or adipose cells in the area. The Mesotherapy Experience

Probably you have heard a lot about lipo-dissolve treatment - its also just the same as mesotherapy! Well, in general, mesotherapy is a treatment wherein it employs administration of homeopathic medicines into the mesoderm (middle layer of the skin), thru multiple injections to allow effective delivery of these medications to a specific target area of the body. Its most popular usage is to disintegrate fat cells to effect cellulite breakdown and hence inch by inch fat reduction. It is not only used primarily for weight loss alone, but for body sculpting too. So in mesotherapy, you are like hitting two birds with one stone, because it will not only result to fat loss, but also, it will sculpt the area of the body and tone the skin where the fat has been lodged for years. If you have already tired yourself working out in the gym to lessen the bulge of your "love handle" but still failing to do so and quite disappointed already, now its your chance to totally eliminate it once and for all thru lipo-dissolve treatment or mesotherapy.

Aside from fat loss and body sculpting benefits, mesotherapy has a variety of uses. Here are BEFORE and AFTER photos of my patient who has undergone 3 sessions of mesotherapy 2 weeks apart. The area he is most concerned about is his flanks (side bulges or love handles), so we focused on it. Note the remarkable loss of fats especially at the side bulges. And it also apparent on the photos that the front abdomen were also affected by the reduction, though we only focused on the flanks. Notice also that after losing the fatty bulges at the flanks, the skin doesn't look lax but instead it appears firm, toned and sculptured. There is also a modest improvement of skin tone on the treated areas.

DIAMOND PEEL MICRODERMABRASION

This treatment relies on microdermabrasion tips covered in tiny diamonds to perform skin exfoliation. When the diamond microdermabrasion tip makes contact with the skin, it abrades against the top layer pulling it off. The microdermabrasion machine then sucks the loose dead skin cells away from the face.

Suction also has the added benefit of stimulating collagen and elastin as well as increasing blood flow to the skin. This provides an instantly revived complexion and healthy glow, while collagen and elastin work to build stronger and more youthful skin.

It takes about 30 minutes to complete a single procedure, and it should be performed every 2 weeks for maintennance. This should be done by a trained medical personnel such as a doctor or a nurse because side effects can ensue if done improperly such as hematoma formation or bruising.

In our clinic, we do the usual process together with facial cleaning which includes extraction of comedones (the black- and white heads) done by our dermatologist. Topical application of skin serums and vitamins by the aid of a galvanic machine follows at the very end of each procedure. J. Waltenspiel Skin and Body Clinic - The Humble Beginning

Dr. Jason C. Waltenspiel obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree in De La Salle University Health Sciences Campus - College of Medicine in Dasmarinas, Cavite after finishing his pre-med course, Bachelor of Science in Biology also in the same campus. He aspired of being a dermatologist someday, and thus to pursue his dreams, he went on further training in the field of dermatology after graduating from the college of medicine. He trained in Dermatology Institute Foundation of the Philippines for the first two years and continued on Medical Skin Health Training Foundation on his third year, under the tutelage of Dra. Grace Lopez.
He attended local and foreign conventions and is now an international member of the World Society of Anti-Aging Medicine in Paris, France. He also attended training in Obesity Management at Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts, USA.
Now, he wants to share his expertise that's why he put up his own clinic here in Makati. The clinic specializes on skin and slimming treatments on a very affordable rates. With this blog, he wants to extend his knowledge by educating people on proper skin care. Also through blogging, he will have the luxury of featuring in-depth details on the services most derma clinics, including his, offer.
