Welcome to My Blog "Jabit Whatever"

I am a Graphic Digital Designer from Sydney Australia and I love working

with all types of digital media.

I have been attending tafe for 9 years after a back injury at work.

I decided to learn how to use computers as I didn't even know how to turn one on.

I have enjoyed it so much I keep coming back like a wet sponge wanting to absorb all that I discover and learn and I wish to share that knowledge with you.

I am currently completing my Advanced Diploma in Digital Media.

I do some consulting work in digital media and also volunteer my time and experience to community and charitable organizations assisting with advertising, training, video production etc... plus grant applications for programs and the organisational documentation for running these programs for indigenous kids.

"Jabit Whatever Blog" will contain whatever content I find thats is interesting, informative or what I believe will be of use to people in the digital media industry.

You have a client and maybe team members who need to know whats going on with a project so adopt a wiki...

Advantages of implementing a Wiki Project Development site:

Login to gain access.
Not viewed by public it is a private space.
Easy to use and navigate.
All data is archived for future reference.
All edits are recorded and can be traced to who performed changes.

A Wiki project site can be used for each clients individual project:

Viewed by project manager.
Viewed by project team members.
Viewed by client.

A confidential Wiki site for all team members involved in the progress of a project will improve staff communication and collaboration with each other and our clients.

A Wiki will keep all team members informed with the progress of all departments involved in the development of any projects:

Updates on each departments status over the progression of a project.

Separate wiki pages for each department pertaining to the current project:

Project requirements information page.
Audio for all audio content.
Video for all video content.
Text content from copywriters.

Jabit's Podcasts

Podcasting, is a radio show like production that is typically listened to on an iPod (hence the 'pod in podcasting) or other audio player that supports mp3 .

Note: however, that this technology can be used to push any kind of file, including software updates, pictures, and videos.

List of Graphic Design Podcast Websites

Podcasting is not unlike time-shifted video software and devices like TiVo, which let you watch what you want when you want by recording and storing video, except that podcasting is used for audio and is currently free of charge.

Many of us don't realize that there are many podcasts on graphic design as well as many other topics.

I have found a load of design related podcasts that I am sure will peak your interests.

Online Storage

Top 5 free online document storage websites:

1. Media Fire

Media Fire is the best online storage website bar none.

One site for all your file and image hosting needs Share your files and images through just one site without ever having to worry about disk space, hosting, or bandwidth again.

Built for business, professionals, and individuals Share files and images with people that matter to you: clients, partners, colleagues, customers, students, friends, and family.

They offer unlimited storage, you can upload file sizes up to 100 MB, unlimited uploads, downloads, and bandwidth all for free.

Two more pluses of this service are that you don't have to sign up for it, although you do have to create a free account, and there is no software to install on your computer that will clutter your hard drive up.

2. ADrive

ADrive is my second favorite choice for the place to save my files.

They give you 50GB of storage for free, and you can save word docs, videos, music and even PDF files to your drive with them.

There is a little advertising, and they do have an additional downside in that only individuals can use their free basic plan for personal use only.

That can be a big downer for the small business owner who may want to use them.

However, in spite of this they are worth looking into for backing up documents from your personal computer. Nobody wants to lose everything in a hard drive crash.

3. Obitfiles

Obitfiles would be my next choice for extra storage online.

They only offer 6GB of storage, but like ADrive you can save all sorts of files. In addition they have another advantage.

If you want automatic uploading and back up to Obitfiles, you can download the Hercules Uploader for Windows. I have yet to find another online storage place that has that, so this can make using Obitfiles a no-brainer.

The only downside would be if you hit the limit for the free service, and of course having to have an extra software on your computer. However, they do offer unlimited storage for only $5 a month which is not a bad deal.

4. AOL's Xdrive

AOL's Xdrive is my next favorite choice for where to save my documents, videos and artwork.

They offer 5GB of storage and this is for both individuals and businesses, whereas some online storage websites such as ADrive for example, will not allow businesses to use their free basic plan.

There is a small amount of advertising in the form of banners but there are no pop-up ads unless you click on the banner which is very nice indeed.

5. Skydrive on Windows Live

Skydrive on Windows Live is another you get 5 GB of free, password-protected online storage so you've got plenty of room to back up important documents and other files.

It's like an extension of your PC's hard drive.

This one is very similar to Xdrive and has all the same features, although it appears there may be less forced ads. Not being a big fan of forced ads myself I tend to use the services that have less of them rather than more.

While I feel that Media Fire is your absolute best choice when it comes to free online storage, all those unlimited downloads, uploads and bandwidth sure is nice, it is never a bad idea to back things up even when you are backing up files online to more than one place.

SA digital camera is functionally identical to a traditional film camera in all respects except image storage, right?
Not at all, author Mikkel Aaland shows exactly why in his excellent Shooting Digital book.

He shows why digital cameras–the point-and-shoot variety as well as fancier models meant for professional photographers–are overall neither better nor worse than cameras of older design, and goes on to show you how to take advantage of their special traits.

He shows how to compensate for their shortcomings, too, notably shutter lag (for which he documents a useful testing procedure) and color fringing.

Though there’s some coverage of creating animated GIFs, this book generally sticks to shooting time and leaves editing to other volumes.
