Building a Solar System - Fun Sunday Crafts!

2014-05-26T20:23:00.001-07:00

I have not been here in a while! I have been working on allot of really cool projects as well as helping my daughter build a solar system, thought this one was really fun to make and wanted to share it.

Ingredients:

- 1 large foam ball for the sun

- 2 smaller foam balls for Mercury & Jupiter,

- 7 medium size foam balls for the other planets (8 if you want to add the moon)

- shish kabob sticks

- tooth picks

- paint (acrylic paint works best on foam balls)

- white craft glue

- scrap white or colored paper (for little flags)

- silver marker (or white pencil crayon)

- black marker (for the little faces)

- scrap piece of cardboard/box (for the base)

- optional silver jewel stickers for decoration

1- Cut a large circle with the thick (scrap box) cardboard for the base of the solar system, should be twice the diameter of the sun (the largest foam ball).
2- Cut a small portion of the base of the sun (largest ball) & glue on to the cardboard base from step1
3- Puncture the shish kabob sticks equally around the center of the sun leaving a space in the front for it's face.
4- Place you smaller ball on the other end of the sticks, you may want to break off the ends so you can distance them differently around the sun (does that make sense?)
5- Paint your planets!
6- While the paint dries, create you little flags by folding a small piece a paper in half, cut into triangles and glue tooth pick in the seem.
7- Write the names of the planets.
8- Once the paint is dry, place flags into the center of each planet.
9- Decorate with smiley faces and jewel stars.

If something is not clear, please let me know.

Have fun!

Painting with Kids

2012-10-04T19:40:00.001-07:00

On Tuesday, Angela had to have her front tooth pulled out and was prescribed to stay home for the day, as I made pumpkin soup I took out the paints and a canvas and had her tell me when she was finished her "steps" so I could take a photos of the making of a masterpiece! Leaving kids alone to explore paint can be messy but with amazing results! Good job Angela!

I think this one looks like violet from the Incredibles!

2012-08-17T11:17:00.002-07:00

Friday is awesome especially when going on vacation for a week, the past 3 weeks I have been lost in a galaxy of emotion, ideas, creations, projects, responsibilities, the list goes on. A break I believe to be well-deserved. Can't wait to spend a week with my daughter before she starts grade 1! :0)

Have a wonderful week-end everyone!

A pleasant surprise...

2012-07-19T19:55:00.004-07:00

What a pleasant surprise it was to come home to these magnificent star flowers or lily's! At 6 o'clock light they looked so perfect, it's like a fire cracker that you can stare at for hours! My daughter was wondering why I was taking SO many photos, I told her perfection only lasts a couple of days, maybe a week if your lucky. It's these little things that makes life worth living in so many ways.

Thought I'd share my happy inspiring moment of the day with hope to inspire you.

I'm Back! I've been back for 2 weeks now but very very busy. I finally have everything in order again and under control....I think? We had a wonderful week in colorful Wildwood. BEST place to go with kids, it's fun, clean & affordable. This is the second year we stay at the Florentine Family Motel. Great place, also very clean with a friendly staff and only 1 block from the beach! Here are my favorite shots:

Angela's Sketch of the Week

2012-06-01T20:47:00.003-07:00

It's been a very busy couple of weeks with ALLOT of things accomplished!

The best of all...Angela learned how to ride her bike on 2 wheels!

After a most delightful surprise dinner with friends tonight, in her tired state, Angela drew this amazing bunny in 2 minutes and I have to share it with the world! I will now post Angela's Sketch of the Week because she is just so creative and awesome for a 6 year old and I want to encourage her creativity as much as I possibly can. Go girl! Here is the amazingly happy bunny!

Do you know why this special bunny is so happy?

Because it can eat carrots and run at the same time!
