No woman can predict the horror that is post-partum depression. Often one day everything is fine and you're putting your baby in their soft baby bedding, and the next moment, you're on the floor crying in a puddle of Spaghetti-o's. Having depression can also be a tough thing to come to terms with, and often denial is the first reaction. But those who experience PPD are certainly not alone - the important part is recognizing the problem and the next most important being to seek help.

Listed below are some warning signs that women with PPD might experience:

• Extreme sadness: People with this degree of sadness often feel hopeless no matter what they accomplish in a day. To them, things will never get better and there's no light at the end of the tunnel.
• Feelings of not wanting your baby: Individuals with post-partum depression tend to be distant towards their babies and delegate the responsibility of taking care of the baby to others. Women that are experiencing this feeling might also be experiencing an extreme amount of guilt for feeling this way. It's important that you have a support system that understands that just because you may feel this way right now, that doesn't mean that it's really true. It's simply the emotions from the depression getting in the way of rationality.
• Anxiety: Some mothers suffering from post-partum depression can suffer from extreme panic attacks.
• Sleep deprivation: This happens with any parent, but often sleep deprivation in PPD stems from anxiety.  Even when the baby is sleeping, the anxious mother cannot sleep.
• Resentment: Some women may feel resentment towards other mothers not experiencing PPD or even their husbands, who has a life with the child without having to deal with PPD.
• Feelings of doom: some women with PPD often think the worst of what will happen. Sometimes this can be a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Fortunately, there are things that women can do to reduce the likelihood that PPD will hit.

• Know Your Triggers: Know your genetic history - if someone in your family struggled with PPD, most likely you will too. Talk to your friends or doctor about any pregnancy concerns.  Don't hold it all in. Know what your triggers are and avoid them if at all possible.
• Involve Your Partner: Talk to your partner about how he can help - support from a mate can reduce the risk of post-partum depression. Take turns with doing activities like changing on the changing table.
• Develop a Routine: When you have less decisions to make, you tend to have lower incidences of depression. Rituals tend to bring comfort.
• Self Care: Meeting your basic needs in incredibly important to your well-being. Get enough sleep, exercise and "me" time.

It's important while going through post-partum depression that you remember that you are not alone - there's always support...through either family members or some support organization. Do not do anything that would harm your baby: there's always help and there's always hope.

Take the bed with you

If your child is still refusing to sleep when you’ve tried everything, remember that everything will change back to normal in a few days when you get home.  Holiday sleep disruptions are short lived, but if they after you get back, consult a professional.

There is no perfect parent. All of them make mistakes, especially new parents dealing with a newborn, whether you cannot stop panicking when you baby vomits all over its personalized baby clothes or you cannot understand why your child keeps crying all over the nursery bedding. It can be very helpful for a new parent to know the most common parenting mistakes; it will be an inspiration not to repeat them.

Don’t panic

New parents react to any normal thing like spitting up and vomiting. Worrying about all the small things is a waste of time and it gets in the way of enjoying your child's first year of life. Be aware that your baby is more resilient than you think.

Crying it out

It is not your job as a parent to make sure your baby is not crying. When your baby is crying, it doesn’t mean you are doing something wrong that needs fixing. Babies cry even if they have everything in order - it’s how they communicate. But if your baby keeps crying for a long time, don’t hesitate to contact a pediatrician. Persistent crying without the baby be satiated by anything common could be a sign that something more sinister is at work. 

Let them sleep

Waking your baby up for breastfeeding is a common mistake, thinking the breast milk you provided before will not be enough to get your baby through the night. Let your baby sleep through the night on the baby boy crib bedding or baby girl crib bedding, and use that time to get some sleep yourself.

Dealing with a fever

in the first 3 months, a fever over 100.4 is an emergency. Don’t just give your baby a medicine and think the fever will go away. Babies’ immune system can’t handle an infection on its own, so if the temperature is above 100.4, you have to contact your pediatrician right away.

Don’t forget oral care

You should think about oral health as soon as the first tooth comes out. You can use wet gauze to wipe down the gums after a meal and you can start using a toothbrush when your child turns one.

Don’t forget your marriage

Focusing just on your child can have a negative impact on your relationship with your partner. This leads to fighting in front of your child, and it picks up on that like it does on everything its parents do.

New parents have a lot of questions and often find answers in the wrong places. Getting parenting advice from just about anyone is a classic mistake. You can listen to people or read anything you like, but always consult with professionals about more serious matters.

The migration from the existing Yahoo Business store to Shopify began shortly after owner Nava Rangasamy and his wife Priya purchased Jack and Jill Boutique from top nursery designer Sherri Blum. Blum felt that Nava and his wife could give the boutique all the attention it deserves. Certainly, this new storefront is a byproduct of all that attention.

• Teach basic street safety – Teaching when to walk and not to walk across streets, how to handle stop signs, not to ride anywhere with strangers…these are things that are not inherent to your child: they must be taught.
• Plan a route and stick to it – Whether you’re taking your kid trick-or-treating or letting them go with a friend, it’s important to know where they are going. Plan their route ahead of time and be familiar with the areas to which you’re going.
• Visit well-lit houses only – Only visit houses with some sort of light on that indicates they have candy and are welcoming visitors. If the house looks off in some way, avoid it. Trust your instincts and don’t go or have your kids go anywhere questionable.
