Last Years Workshop was a HUGE Success! We had an amazing group of planners in our workshop and I still stay in contact with them. Many of them have started their business and have strived in their first year! Many have developed new ways to market their business and are seeing great results since last June. One planner in particular worked as an intern with my company after the workshop and got offered an amazing job opportunity as a lead event manager in an large. reputable event production company. I am so proud of all of the accomplishments of last years planners so you can imagine my excitement for this years workshop. I know I know I know…. its been since forever that I have had a chance to blog. Its been a crazy in 211 and 2012. Not only did we do 28 events last year, but I gave birth to the most perfect little boy! He is the pride and joy of my life and it has been the most amazing experience I have ever had. Needless to say I’ve been a tad busy so I have not had the chance to blog in a long while but I’m back at it. There have been sooooo many amazing events in the last year I dont even know where to start but here is one of my favorites, Suset and Jesus’ wedding which we put together in less than 6 months! Martha and Jesus Ramirez from UDS Photo captured these great images! As always, thank you so very very very much UDS Photo.

The wedding ceremony took place at Coral Gables Congregational Church and at the Beautiful Biltmore Hotel. Thanfully it was such a beautiful day. Being that October is so unpredictable, we were blessed with bright blue skies and great weather. It was a tad hot, Im not going to lie but I rather it be hot than rainy! We had guests and the Bridal party walking across the street to the church so great weather was a huge relief!

What girl doesn’t love a little bling, well okay fine ALOT of bling? … lol

Las damas y los caballeros =)

Suset getting herself ready to meet the man of her dreams down the aisle. I helped her with her dress, she had about what seemed to be a thousand buttons in the back lol. Anything for my “bruji” (a nickname we call each other- come to think of it Im not even sure how we came up with it…). I am so thankful to have such a unique relationship with my brides. Its something I look forward to and enjoy throughout and after the wedding.

Suset and Her Hubby Jesus took a couple of minutes to take pictures at the church just them too. Its such a special moment and really just about the only couple of un-interupted, silent, and peaceful alone time that they have for the rest of the night. The couple left in their car (one of my “favs” I ust add) back to the hotel where the party was already on its way, and did this crowd know how to party!

HUGE Kudos to the design team- this was not-so-simple undertaking! Rick Interian, Yani, and the Team at Avant Gardens did a spectacular job in the decor of this wedding. Suset wanted something “different and unique”… honestly most brides want that too. Suset was so great in letting us “run” with our ideas. W wanted to something that was a huge wow factor but still keeping in mind that she wanted it not to look “over done”. We knew exactly what she wanted and with her giving us creating freedom, this is what came of it. The base of the tall centerpiece in the middle of the clover table was covered in hydrangeas and curly willow and dendrobium orchid sprays flourished the top of the design. Any table with such “top heavy” decor needs a strong floral base to compliment it. A combination of roses, hydrangeas, orchids, and callas were placed in a lush design to balance the center of this massive 18 guests table. Each of the tables also had their own centerpiece- this is a very important part of  THIS table design. Of course candles were used throughout for lighting and to give the element of romance that this bride wanted in her reception. The Alhambra ballroom is so stunning that simple, saturated lighting can make a great impact.

The round tables in the clover clusters were dressed in ivory ruffle linens and complimented with gold chivari chairs. The 8 foot royal tables were dressed in a gold and ivory modern damask pattern and ivory chameleon chairs. The royal table design was a long centerpiece as a runner on the table matching the lush floral design on the clover tables. The third table design was a smaller and a bit different version of the large center design in the clover tables. It all flowed perfectly and looked absolutely stunning!

The couple shared their first dance and family formalities at the beginning of the night in order to make sure that right after dinner it was time to party! hey partied until the morning hours. We had a blast planning this wedding. Thank you Bruji for trusting in me and the team so much. Te quiero!

So here it goes! Twins are so much fun!!!!!!! These twin girls are so loved by so many people, but not more than by Mom and Dad. The twin’s mom contacted and wanted to plan an amazing event that would be memorable for all of her guests and a blast for her twins. The theme of the metamorphosis of butterflies was established by Mom but it was up to me and the Glam Squad to make it come to life. They thankfully gave me a love of freedom in conceptualizing the design and coming up with the ideas. So….. Let the fun begin!

Our Fabu-Venue was White Space, an empty warehouse off of 595 and Sheridan St. We used the largest of the two studios which has a pre-function area and a large event space. The pre-function we split into two- the left as a MEGA entrance and the other for the flip book photo booth which you will see more about below. Rick Interian and his Avant Gardens design team hung a wooden structure from the ceiling over the entrance table scape. Mechanical butterflies were added throughout the entrance piece and were so life-like; it truly made this more of a show stopper. On the wall, we hung two canvases (one of each girl) for guests to write them a Happy Birthday note.

Uplyte did a great job on the draping and the lighting. They now have White Space permanently draped which is great! The lighting around the room was a soft purple with a mix of pink. It was the perfect combination for our bright decor and whispie ambiance.  Gobos were made to replicate the butterflies on the invitation and they placed on the draping behind the cakes.

The cake table was so fun to design. Cake confectioner extraordinaire, Rosie Cunil of Elegant Temptations took our ideas and colors and ran with the wind. She custom made acrylic pieces to hold up the twin cakes as well as the mini parfaits that were placed behind them. Hanging crystals and butterflies were placed on the table and acrylic  to incorporate our butterfly theme.

Alexia’s Cake, Olivia’s Cake, and some yummy desserts for guests. When we sang Happy Birthday and the twins blew out their candles, we had a massive confetti blast to start the night off right!!!!!! So cute!

I love the set up of this event. We set it as a cocktail style reception as there was never a chance to do anything else BUT party. =) There were several sets of tables both high and low. We added 8ft long tables extended 48″ inches in height to add something a little different to the decor. All of the floral decor we kept very organic but with pop colors as our twins LOVED pink and orange.  Furniture from Room Service Rentals was placed throughout the room and in the VIP lounges.

In the shoe valet, the twins had custom made converse to match their dresses. SOsoooo cute!

We had two separate VIP lounges in the space, an Adult only lounge and a Teens lounge. Its important to assure that the adults have an area that is seprate from the teens to be able to order alcoholic beverages. When parents come to drop their kids off, this will make them feel assured that their teen will not try any funny business. Plus, any time you have a large event, I highly suggest you hire a reputable bartending/catering company who will not under any circumstances allow under age drinking. In creating a Teens bar, they felt just as important in their section. We served a fruit punch as the signature drink and it was embellished with three butterfly gummy candies with a skewer- it made it looks cool! Kids love cool lol.

Chris from Delicious Catering did a great job in making all of the stations yummy and oh so delicious. We served kids comfort food but upped it up a notch and added some gourmet touches to it. This was a great way to make sure that every guest would like the options on the stations.

We hired CircX to come and bring out the girls to their party. I love these customs, they actually light up! The butterfly ladies did an acro-improvisational performance and then they brought out the birthday girls. It was cute and so unexpected, the guests loved it!

In the middle of the party which by the way was off the chain! thanks to Big Will, Power Parties, and the Fabulous and Famous Miami DJ, DJ ZOG, we opened up the photo booth room. This allowed the guests to go into the room and enjoy doing the photo flip books a favors and great memories of the night.

Happy Birthday Olivia and Alexa! It was a great pleasure working with you and your family in this magical night. Congrats to the Mendez Family!

Chantalle and Danny’s wedding was such a FUN wedding. Not only was planning the wedding a blast but boy do they know how to party! We had such a great time thru the entire process and it’s clients like these who give us the reins that truly enjoy every second of their wedding. Whats a Bride Getting Ready Suite without some great champagne and Louboutin’s? Chantalle has such a presence about her, the camera loves her and she loves the camera. This beauty was born to model =).

Chantalle saw her grandmother and got so emotional. I was actually tucked away behind Carlos and it was a moving moment; I teared up as well. Thankfully after the tears came many laughs and smiles.

Its so important to talk to your team and make room for pictures with the bride by herself before the craziness of the getting in the car and getting to the ceremony happens. There is a feeling of peace and anxiousness right before the ceremony but its the only time where we will have the bride’s attention to the camera and getting amazing images of her just being her beautiful self.

Chantalle’s father just about he is to give away his little princess…. so cute! I love moments like these.

Finally Mr. and Mrs.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chantalle and Danny opted not to be part of the cocktail hour and take some time with Carlos Baez to take some great shots around the Epic Hotel in Downtown Miami.

Her dress was a DREAM!!!!!!! One of the most gorgeous gowns I saw all year!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now many say this and that about our city but seriously, look at this view! OMG How could you not just fall in love with the city jut by the views that we have here? We got to sneak into a secret spot in a secret space and this is the view we got- not bad huh?

This couple are such hams for the camera! It was so great that they took the time to get these pictures before the reception started…. which brings me to the next event of the night— party time!

Gil Sosa designed some great floral centerpieces for Chantalle and Danny’s wedding. She wanted to make sure that each table was just a little different so buy using a variety of ceramic and glass vases, Gil did just as she asked and it looked so pretty! Classic Elegance- exactly what she wanted!

Some times the simplest of details can make the biggest difference. I like to make sure we use the entrance piece or place card table again throughout the night. Not only is it typically a beautiful floralscape, but it is placed in a spot which will greet guests as they enter the wedding and guests will pass it as they leave. Favors are great to have as a cute memory of the wedding but putting it on the table is sometimes not the best idea. The place card table is a great way to make sure you get the most use of the money spent of the table floral.

The First spread is under Centers of Attention on page 55.I highlighted the picture in blue. It is a daylight picture of my ceremony at Vizcaya Museum on the oh-so famous casino mound. The ceremony at night was a dream! Shot out to Rick Interian for making my ceremony feel like heaven!

The Second spread is under Petal Pink on page 142. The small mini cakes were what the guests at my bridal shower received as their dessert. So cute! Check it out, Ive highlighted the pic in petal pink =).

The Newlyweds, Mr. and Mrs. Jesse and Kathy Marinelli! Congrats!

Kathy’s Vera Wang gown. She chose Diana as we gown of choice. It was one of the most gorgeous and unique gowns I had ever seen. She looked like such a princess =). Kathy and Jesse’s wedding was featured on the Vera Wang blog recently. Check it out HERE. This dress was Kathy’s second wedding dress as the first one she had that was a wedding gift just was not exactly what she was looking for. She found this Dress at Ever After Miami.

Kathy’s bridesmaids assist her he in getting dressed. It was a great time for them to bond and have some true girl-time before the ceremony and reception started. Not only does it make for great shots, but the memories are priceless. When you plan your getting ready, try to plan for all of your bridesmaids to be ready and dressed to assist you. I promise those images will end up in your album. =)

Jesse, the groom wearing Hugo Boss =) Here are some pics of him getting ready. What a calm groom! He was seriously cool as a cucumber, laughing and cracking jokes all day.

The ceremony and reception took place at the Fontainebleau Hotel in South Beach. Our plan was to have the ceremony in the back lawn of the hotel however the weather was not cooperating with us that day and although we attempted to have the ceremony outside regardless of the cloudy skies, it started to rain 30 minutes before we were expecting guests and we had to move the ceremony inside the hotel. Thankfully, we had the small ballroom adjacent to the reception ballroom as a back up.

A big thank you to Eduardo from Petunia Flowers and his team as they rushed to get these 13 foot trees through the back of the house and into this ballroom in a record 15 minutes. UPLYTE was a great help as well! We moved a portion of our pipe and drape from the reception room to drape the back of the stage to make for a beautiful back drop for the wedding. After it all, it was a great ceremony and the bride and groom loved it! Phew- that was a close call but we are always ready for whatever can come our way. In Miami, it typically is weather related … unfortunately we are used to this but we make the best of it and smile!

And they are WED! Congratulations guys!

The ballroom was gorgeous! Thankfully, Kathy and Jesse’s colors were in perfect correlation with the colors already existing in the ballroom. Kathy loved the combination of black and white with pop color of bright blue and accents of peacock feathers. We used a peacock blue dupioni silk table cloth – it was the main color of the table.We paired the table cloth with black chiavari chairs with slate cushions, black square chargers, black vases, and white flowers accent the tables. Peacock feathers were added to the centerpieces and as a napkin accent. The lighting in the ballroom changed with the crazy beats of the Djs mixes. It made this crazy crowd rowdy- what a great party! Lounge areas from Room Service Rentals flanked the white dance floor.

Toasts are such great moments at weddings. These toasts were so great! There are a slue of emotions throughout the day of the wedding activities. It’s always good to show them. PS> waterproof mascara is a must ladies.

Rosie Cunil from Elegant Temptations designed this cake. It was so daring for a bride and groom to choose a black fondant cake but Kathy and Jesse were up for being different and unique. It’s so great when our clients give us creative freedom. The white fondant pieces that Rosie designed came out from the cake in 3D. It was insanely beautiful!

During the first dance we shot blue, black, and silver confetti from cannons onto the dance floor and over the bride and groom. Sorry Stephan for scaring you buddy, I told you it was coming. lol. The bride, groom, family, and friends partied the night away and what a party it was!!!!!!!!

I’d like to thank Kathy and Jesse for trusting in me and the team we put together for their wedding. It was a blast planning the wedding and the day of the wedding was even more fun! The weather could no stop this wedding from being amazing! MEET THE BIRTHDAY GIRLS! TWO OF MY FAVORITE GIRLS IN THE WORLD, MY SISTERS, JESSICA AND STEPHANIE!

I never post anything of my own, hence, after soooo many times of people asking me to post my wedding, I have yet to do it.  I have to post this one though! O.M.G. I kind out out did myself on a birthday party for my two little girls. My daddy agrees with me LOL.

MAS, Miami Art Space was the venue of choice for this grande party. It had to be a space that I could transform and that had multiple function areas in order for my vision to come to life. This was a special event for me as we were celebrating the birthdays of my two little sisters.  It was so hard coming up with a theme that was going to be exciting just by saying the theme and one that would be totally unique! I didn’t want to do anything ANYONE has EVER done before. I typically get these crazy ideas at the strangest times. This theme was born on 826 while I was driving to the Mandarin Oriental to meet a client. =)

Soooo many people have asked me how the heck did I come up with this theme? My answer is easy: If you know my sisters, Jessie is adorable and very girly. She’s studious and loves to learn about everything. She’s a homebody like me  but has a wild side too when we get a little champagne in her lol. More than anything, she loves things primped and perfect like a street lined with white, picket fenced houses. The only street I could think of was “Wisteria Lane”. It fit her perfectly!

Steph aka Toooootsie! is ALL over the place lol. She is such a character and always is having a great time. She’s a clown and constantly making everyone laugh. She LOVES to shop, talk on the phone, PARTYING, and pretty much anything that involves having a good time, yeah- she is pretty much all over the place. One of my favorite songs and movies for that matter is Disturbia, so I thought, perfect, “Disturbia” is perfect to describe Steph.

Since they are so different, Steph is the Disturbia is Jessie’s Wisteria Lane, hence the theme, Disturbia on Wisteria Lane. Thank you so much to Martha, Jesus, and Marlene at UDS Photo for joining the craziness and documenting it all. Awesome – <3 U!

…  I’d like to introduce you to the characters of Disturbia…

The character in the middle picture of the top row greeted each of our guests at the Step and Repeat  as they walked into Wisteria Lane. He’s such a an amazing person and his character fit him well as he joked around with all of our guests. They got to take pictures with him at the S&R. The rest of the characters came out in the Disturbia After Party. Crazzzzzzzzzy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am so so so thankful to Rick Interian and his design team at Avant Gardens!!!! WOW is all I can say. Ricki has been doing events with me for years. It’s come to a point where I don’t even have to tell him what I like… although I ALWAYS make sure to tell him in which I get the rolling of the eyes lol. I guess that is what happens when you’ve been working with somebody so long that you are more like family than co-workers. =) We had two meetings and did one walk thru. Told him what I was envisioning and thats it! Love him!  This entrance piece was so perfect. it was primped and girly, and oh so suburbia looking. Welcome to Wisteria Lane everybody (well, 250 family and friends).

Speaking of family and friends… here are a couple of pics of our specials guests. The first to the left is our friends/family and oh so talented hair and mani/pedi genius’ at Elements Salon Studio. Albert custom designed the outfits the girls were wearing and Juan Carlos did their amazing hair styles ~ Geee-Nius! Cheers Friends!

As stated above, Wisteria Lane was designed to be frilly and girly, and well, perfect! jeje. An oversized peacock fence was the back drop to one of the semi-circle bars from Room Service Rentals. The high bistro rectangle and small cocktail rounds were dressed in plum dupioni linens with fuchsia and plum overlays that consisted of organza cut outs in circular patterns (from AB Covers). The design was paired with black chairs/stools and plum colored cushions for some pizzaz. Small furntiure groupings were strategically placed throughout the outside area to invite guests to sit for a while and chat with some friends.

Anyone who knows me, KNOWS I’m all about the lighting – it’s the key element to ANY event. My buddy Dan from Uplyte is so amazing. He too knows me so well its scary. The space was lit in bright pinks and soft and stark patterns for that little bit of funk to illustrate my idea of Wisteria Lane.  Ricki designed some oh-so-funky florals to accent the tables and to make the first part of the event tailored and complete! Thanks friends!!!!!!

In speaking with my design team, I wanted to do something different with the display of our fantastic stations. I knew Jorge Mena was going to do something super tasty and fun so I wanted to present it in a way that matched the uniqueness of our event. Well… here it is- floating stations. Thankfully our vendors like to push the envelope a bit cause this was no walk in the park but we got it done and it was the talk of the party. It can not be easy serving on a station that can sway back and forth like a swing lol. Mena Catering prepared mini entree’s for the evening that were both passed and at the stations. For example, tomato bisque with grilled goat cheese sandwiches, martini’s glasses with puffy white rice, picadillo, a fried quail egg, and chopped platanitos…just to name a few =)  I’m getting hungry reliving our menu.

The transition room!!!!!! I felt that since I had basically two events in one that I needed a room which was somewhat neutral and different to be in between the first and latter half of the evening. Therefore, I used gallery one as what it is- a gallery of fine art and an Aroma Espresso Coffee Station – who can live without coffee?. On the main wall of the gallery, we hung ornate, distressed silver mirrors along with canvases of pictures of my sisters done by Martha Ramirez of UDS which guests could write their Happy Birthday wishes to the girls. Juan Carlos Navas, a renown artist and very close friend, showcased these two pieces of amazing art he created for my sisters. They were then featured in his solo show in Wynwood in November 2010.  In the center of the room hung a chandelier of white feathers which if you paid attention to the details in the blog, My youngest sister’s skirt was almost the same… that was not a coincidence . Ricki and his team hung hundreds of white, pink, and purple butterflies throughout the ceiling ALL meeting up at the center of this chandelier. It was breathtaking! We invited all of the guests into the room, turned off the lights, and sang happy birthday to my babies. Confetti Blast and to Disturbia after party. The best part was that not many guests were expecting another room since it was draped off.

Rosie Cunil (from Elegant Temptations) another amazing artist, designed these two cakes for my sisters. She also designed each and every one of these mini parfait desserts that were displayed on yet another floating station. Incredible! I cannot event tell you what a hit this was! The cake to the left was Jessie’s as she was turning 25. The cake was pink and whispie. It was made to be a girly garden -ike scene with beautiful sugar butterflies and a white picket fence surrounding the acrylic base it was sitting in. Inside that acrylic box, Rosie made it look like sand with tiny Crystal accents. OMG adorable. AND Stephanie’s cake, was dark and psychedelic. The wings of the butterflies were transformed into funky shapes that turned this cake into something deliciously disturbing. Her acrylic box was a mirrored replica of the design on the cake but inside the box was water pearls in deep plums to give the cake that dark and mysterious feel. I am always blown away by my friend and the way she transforms my themes into a piece of art. Needless to say, we had cake for weeks!

This is D.I.S.T.U.R.B.I.A!!!!!

Where do I start? This after party was so amazing. We combined black tables with the white furniture to add a bit of contrast to our all white room. I didn’t feel that Disturbia was dark and disturbing. I always looked at it as having elements of funk, girly-goth, and absolutely Nuts! Ricki designed floral pieces with deep red flowers to bring in the essence of girly-goth and the black vases he used were perfect for the space! Silver candle pedestals and candelabras were placed around the lounges. Uplyte showcased  their water wall for the first time at this event. This was a show all on it’s own. Check out my sister’s expressions when they saw it for the first time… priceless!

As guests walked in, the waterfall would read “Happy Birthday Jessica & Stepahnie 03.20.10″ then after a little bit of dancing it read “Disturbia on Wisteria Lane”. Loved it ! Thank you Dan I know it was beyond a pain in the neck to get it in there but you always amaze me. For that and much more, Im always extremely grateful.

All of our bars inside Disturbia were made of Ice. It was such an incredible addition to our event. The guests loved it and on a side note, it kept us cool when there were tons of people dancing club style!

Any party where you are planning to dance until the wee hours of the morning needs a shoe valet. What girl did not go nuts when she saw this? Thankfully the munchkin took a picture of it the way we set it up cause it didn’t look like this 4 minutes after we opened the doors lol. Gotta Love Old Navy =).

Here are some pictures of the decor in different phases of LED light changes. Lighting is key. There has to be room for lighting in your event budget as it sets the tine for the type of party you are going to have.

We are very lucky to have a great group of friend that knows how to party. At midnight we did the Hora Loca and that was a crazy hour I’ll never forget!

Thank you so very much to my beautiful sisters and my parents for trusting me so much with this party (not that you really had a choice lol just kidding ). Throughout the planning I hardly got asked any questions other than what should I wear? lol They know I can throw a great party! To my friends, Martha and Jesus from UDS Photo, Ricki Interian and his design Team and Avant Gardens, Dan and his crew from UPLYTE, Rosie Cunil from Elegant Temptations, Diana Lozano from Circx, Michael Sarsyz from Sarz Entertainment,Jorge Mena and everyone at Mena Catering, Aroma Espresso, MAC Parking, Mandy at Room Service Rentals, AB Cover Designers, Juan Carlos Navas and Elements Salon, Quintin Quintero fro Channel, and everyone who was such an important part of planning and executing this grande event. I will forever be grateful for all the hard work. it was party my family and I will never forget. Heck, the guests are still raving about the party!
