The City was looking for a local photographer with the skill and vision to convey the unique design elements of 3 dimensional sculpture in 2 dimensions. Jaimee was more than qualified, warm, and enthusiastic about the somewhat daunting challenge of photographing approximately 100 of the nearly 150 sculptures throughout Brea. She was also incredibly generous, donating her time to edit all of the photos. On a personal note, it seemed to me that this project was a labor of love for Jaimee, not just another job. This left a lasting impression, and it shows in the photographs. The photos are used frequently as educational tools for the Art in Public Places Collection and to provide to members of the media.

The City of Brea in Orange County, California; has a city policy for over the last decade that any new development must have a sculpture or piece of artwork. The city boasts over 150 amazing sculptures and works of art from all different artists. It adds character to this amazing "small town" feeling bustling city. I LOVE BREA and lived there for over a decade. I shot over 60 of these unique sculptures and documented their location for the city of Brea and loved shooting objects for one of the first times. It was a great project and I am excited that the Orange County Register has featured my work. Check out the link below to see the amazing sculptures, and the ones I shot are credited. Thank you so much to The Knot and A Good Affair for choosing me to photograph the Knot Party OC 2011. It was a great night full of wonderfully amazing vendors at one of Orange County's best wedding venues, Rancho Las Lomas. Natalie with A Good Affair Wedding and Event Design. Natalie really out did herself on this event, it was over the top spectacular. David Tosti with Tosti Studios shot with me and we had a great time. Fullerton Arboretum Wedding

I LOVE the Fullerton Arboretum......maybe I love it so much because I was married there over 12 years ago. This is a 26 acre property with quite a few places to have your wedding ceremony. Congrats to Olivia and Cian who chose to have their ceremony overlooking the lake, where my husband and I got married under a huge arbor covered in purple wistaria. There are plenty of amazing places for romantics, so pad your timeline for your romantics so you have a little extra time to cover this beautiful property. This wedding was after day light savings and we lost the light quickly or I would have had a field day of possibilities! There is a bamboo forest with a creek running through it, a dessert, rose gardens, tropical section....too many cool places to list. This happy couple chose to have their wedding reception at Meridian Club in Fullerton directly on the other side of the 57frwy. This venue is catered by Collette's Catering and the food and cakes are always yummy! Check out the Fullerton Arboretum if you are looking for an amazing outdoor venue in Southern California.

Weddings in Yosemite Article in OC Bride Magazine

Thank you again Orange County Bride Magazine for another published written article and for a 2-page spread of beautiful Yosemite at the historic Ahwahnee Hotel. The historic Ahwahnee hosts intimate weddings and honeymoons for happy couples. Orange County Bride sent me to this majestic hotel to experience the breathtaking landscape and a wedding backdrop that only exists in movies. The Ahwahnee is an absolutely gorgeous hotel boasting over-sized dinging rooms, and perfect for a small ceremony with a waterfall cascading behind you on the ceremony lawn. Below is a link to the previous blog I wrote on this fantastic hotel and landscape with amazing pictures. Having your wedding at the Ahwahnee would result in the most amazing romantic images and any photographer would be excited to shoot there. My husband and I spent two days in Yosemite and experienced a perfect Spring day followed by the valley being canopied by snow. It was truly an amazingly beautiful experience and I was able to capture some of my personal favorite images of all times.

Congrats to My Daddy, Mayor Jim Dow

I have never blogged about my father and since he was passed the gavel last night as his 3rd and last term as Mayor of Buena Park, I found it befitting. Twelve years ago, my Dad and our family went on a bit of a quest to help our city in which the "Dow" family has lived in for 4 generations. We had a steep hill to climb as my father ran against 2 incumbents, and in the history of Buena Park nobody had ever won against an incumbent. For months we worked our hearts out and my Dad won by only 152 votes. We were ecstatic! Since then he has served twice as Mayor, and I am very proud to say that is is my fathers 3rd and final term as Mayor. Despite my father not having come from money, nor does he have a college degree, coupled with very serious health problems, he really has made his late parents proud. I am so proud of the legacy my Father has left his kids and grand kids. I love you Daddy!

Heidi & Frank Show Party at Bowlmor

Another great party with Heidi and Frank at Bowlmor in Tustin, last Thursday night! Heidi, Frank, and Erik put on a bowling show for us, then they picked names and formed their own bowling teams. They really know how to throw a party and how to make their fans feel part of the HF family. If you have no idea who Heidi and Frank are, you have to check them out on their website at www.heidiandfrank.com. Heidi and Frank are radio personalities in LA and now they do a daily podcast from 10-12pm on the internet. Their show is hilarious.....but if you are easily offended it may not be the show for you. Everyday is a party on the Heidi and Frank show, it is radio worth watching! I have been listening for over a decade, and listen daily as I edit my pictures all week at my computer. They keep me company while I am working and updated on the news while they talk to listeners and reveal most everything about their own lives, along with Erik (Shmeez) they keep me laughing. VIP for life!!! Check them out!

My Article in OC Bride Magazine-So Cal Wedding Photography Pricing

I am finally blogging about this article that I wrote for Orange County Bride Magazine. The article is on Wedding Photography Pricing in Southern California. There is a broad spectrum on wedding photography pricing, but also a standard in the business of what the going-rates are according to experience and expertise. I have to educate most of my clients on what is most important within a given budget. I really wanted brides to be able to read the article and know what to look for and expect for their given budget. I also don't see many articles on pricing and wedding photographers generally do not quote wedding pricing on their websites. I wanted to put out a realistic pricing guide of Southern California so brides know what to look for according to their budgets. I talked to several experienced colleagues in Southern California while writing this article to insure they were on the same page as me as far as the standard.

Pricing Southern California Wedding Photography

Your Wedding Photographer is arguably one of the most important vendors you will hire for your wedding day. Getting an experienced wedding photographer is not only about assuring yourself amazing magazine style images, it is also the responsibility of the photographer to be in charge of your entire wedding day timeline. Wedding photographers are not just clicking images, they moving groups, keeping on time, giving direction, and making sure your wedding day runs smoother and better. Afterward, they are editing thousands of images and many times creating priceless portraits and a wedding album. It is a very "niche" industry, where consistency in coverage and longevity in the business is everything! Personality is also definitely key when you are looking for the perfect person to stand in front of you all day. So what should you expect and look out for with your budget in mind and wedding photography pricing in Southern California?

Tight Budget- If your wedding photography budget is under $2,500 you are going to have a hard time finding an "experienced" wedding photographer, or a photographer with magazine quality images. To help with this, consider having your wedding on any other day but Saturday, as large discounts can be given from most vendors and venues. Try not to worry about getting a large package and spend your budget on a good and capable photographer. Instead, pay for their time and expertise and get your prints and albums after the wedding. Make sure they have an extensive portfolio, a great website, and many references or reviews from previous clients to insure their experience. Seeing multiple weddings from beginning to end with web hosting, where all wedding images are put online, gives you the ability to view recent weddings to see your potential photographers style and consistency overall.

The Going Rate-The starting rate for an experienced wedding photographer in Southern California ranges from $3,000-5,000 depending on style, experience, and your wants/needs for your package. If your budget is on the lower end of this, then as I said above hire for time and expertise, and worry about your album and extras later. If you are on the top end of this budget, you are going to find a great photographer, and you get to pick for personality and style as well as get an album and second photographer. Even still at this rate, be careful to hire a photographer with longevity. They should have an extensive portfolio and website, great albums, published work, reviews and/or endorsements and a name built for themselves in the wedding industry.

High-End Budget- If you have a budget over $5,000 then you are in luck! You can pick from the best, and this is where you want to be to get a great wedding photographer with all day coverage, a second shooter, a wedding album, engagement shoot, etc. Experience should not be an issue at this rate, so you really are hiring for personality and style. Wedding Photographers with a very established name and recognition within the industry can start upwards of $9,000-$25,000.

Amateur PHOTO CONTEST!

Here it is.....the 2nd Annual Amateur Photo Contest by Capturing Moments!!! You are the contestants and the judges! Last year this turned out to be so popular with over 130 images entered, they were narrowed down to a top 30, then a top 10, and the the winner and runner up which are below. I have had so many people over the years talk to me about an amazing image they have captured. I can see the excitement on their faces and they want to share what they have produced, but where? Once people see my camera, I get question after question about my equipment, images they want to show me , what and how I shoot, how to use their camera, etc. I am amazed at the interest in photography, and since the digital age has taken over, more and more people are interested in owning a great camera, learning how to really use it, and then actually shooting images that are exciting. Amateurs can now afford great user friendly cameras that produce decent images, sometimes amateurs even capture an amazing image that looks like a PRO shot. So here is your chance! If you have an image that you have shot and love then submit it!

New Website Images on Capturing Moments Photography

I am so excited to present my new homepage on my website, it is very long overdue! I have not updated my homepage or wedding and family galleries for almost 3 years so my work was starting to get outdated and not great compared to what I was producing. The good thing is, I was shooting too much to ever get back to it, so that is my great excuse! :) I would love some feedback as I know everybody out there has different size monitors, different computer speeds, flash capabilities, etc. So I would like to know how my website looks overall, the images, songs, functionality, user friendliness, etc. I would appreciate positive and negative feedback as it would greatly help me. This site is still a work in progress, there are many things to still fix and change, but too excited to wait so gotta share! Thank you for taking the time to check out my new updated work! Capturing Moments is by far the BEST and works with you and your budget.
I was looking for a great photographer that would capture all detail, but yet traditional pictures as well. I came across looking on Facebook & started following Jamiee and her work, BREATHTAKING & AMAZING popped into my head. ("she's the one, she would be perfect & what we are asking for, I gotta book her").. She was one of the vendors in a small wedding venue gathering in Newport Beach. I went to met with her and come to find out we went to the the same high school.. small world :) Booked her that night. Scheduled an appt for pictures. LOVED the engagement & the wedding pictures.. Capturing Moments was above and beyond everything I'd hoped for in a photographer. Jaime took our ideas to do the engagement shoot at the library and turned them into fun, imaginative and beautiful shots. My husband and I were both anxious about the shoot but JaIme made it seem more like we were hanging out and having fun and still managed to make every shoot beautiful and incredibly flattering. She went out of her way to work with our hectic schedules and was able to turn what I was expecting to be an incredibly hectic day, into one of my favorites filled with love and laughter, that we were lucky enough to have amazing documentation of.

Capturing Moments, highly recommended no matter what the event. Trust me, you will love the day, her company and the final product!

Jaimee Hubert of Capturing Moments was absolutely amazing. When my husband and I first met with Jaimee with both fell in love with her and her work. She was so creative and easy to work with; she really made the whole photo experience fun. Our photos look stunning and so artistic; really a piece of work that can be hung over the fireplace and always look stylish. Her attention to the tiniest details is amazing and ideas for a better shot are so fun. We truly had a great experience working with Jaimee as well as her assistants. Jaimee is amazing. She does fantastic work, has a great attitude, and is SO easy to work with. Neither my new husband nor I are comfortable being the center of attention, let alone acting like supermodels... but we had such a great time with her that we didn't even have time to feel uncomfortable! Holiday Mini-Shoot Days for Christmas

Family Shoot Days are here in OC for the Holidays!!!! In fact my 50% off mini shoot days have become so popular I am doing them every 3 months. For Christmas pictures, I usually have 6 shoot days, but this year in OC they are very limited. I will only have 3 shoot days, and two of them I have already done. I am also going to open up shoot days to the Boise area, so inquire if you live in Treasure Valley and want a photo shoot. These photoshoots can be up to a family of 4, 30 minutes of coverage with me, and full custom editing and copyrights on all images for only $250. My only shoot day in OC left for the Holidays is Sunday, November 20th at a park in the Fullerton/Brea area. I have 2 spots left. My next scheduled shoot day in OC will be for Spring, March 11th. The shoots usually result in a few hundred images and you own them all on CD. After the Wedding day, or in this case before, couples forget that Marriage is work at times and you have to put effort into it. Sometimes you even have to save it. I have blogged many times and Facebooked I was on my way to Marriage Bootcamp, or in this case the Intensive Couples Retreat. They are truly amazing and life changing and I have had the opportunity to help train at them for years now. Old Ranch Country Club Wedding

I love this super sweet couple....Yvette and Vinny! Congrats on your recent wedding and honeymoon! The wedding day was filled with love, laughter, and tears....and the day was all about family and friends. The bride and groom chose to see each other before the wedding ceremony so they could have some time with each other, hang out with the entire bridal party and family, have more time for pictures, and take the pressure off the bride who had to walk down a big flight of stairs to get to the groom. I set up a great moment for the bride and groom when they see each other before the ceremony, the bride walks to the groom while the are all alone down a nice path. We did most of the romantics, family, and bridal party pics before the ceremony, which results in a lot more time for images, therefore a lot more images. The Reception was full of laughter and lots of dancing, this crowd had nothing short of a great time!

Malibu Wedding at Calamigos Ranch

I absolutely LOVED this wedding and venue! I know I always brag about my couples and weddings, but this wedding was simply one of the best! Calimigos Ranch in Malibu, California is one of thee best wedding venues in Southern California! There are several different wedding ceremony and reception sites. I cannot imagine a ceremony site better than this spot Giannina and Aaron chose. Not to mention their family is amazing! The couple got married under a ridiculously large tree that canopied over their entire 20 person bridal party. The entire venue is covered with trees draped in twinkle lights and large basket lights. One tree on the premises even has a chandelier hanging from it. Cascading waterfalls and swampy lakes run throughout the venue. However, this venue is so incredibly cool and unique because of its antique Ferris Wheel and antique carousel and super cool red barn. So cool for bridal party pictures and romantics, and it gives this venue its very own uniqueness and boy do I love unique. Can't wait to shoot here again one day so call me if you want to get married here because I am in!

A Note from the Bride, Giannina:
Our wedding day was simply perfect. All of our friends and family made it so incredible and unforgettable for us. It was everything I always hoped my wedding day would be. Our evening ceremony under the most beautiful tree I've ever seen was performed by Reverend Gordon Dalbey, who married my parents in 1980. Definitely one of my favorite wedding facts! The peacock theme comes not only from my love for the colors and aesthetics of the bird and it's feathers, but from the fact that they are wild in the town where I grew up. I wanted a vintage/rustic theme for the wedding which was accomplished through details as large as the gorgeous Calamigos Ranch venue and as small as, one of my favorites, our flower boxes which we made by hand out of wood from an old barn that fell at Aaron's grandfathers ranch in Kansas where he grew up. I also grew up spending summers at my grandfather's ranch in Argentina, so the whole theme fit perfectly with the rustic feel I wanted to go for. I found vintage postcards we used instead of a guest book. Our guests each wrote us a postcard and dropped it in a wooden basket. Lanterns and candles set the lighting on all the tables, along with recycled glass bottles used to hold the table names. We collected wine corks over the years and cut them to hold all the place cards for our guests. The whole day was made perfect not only by the flawless setting but our amazing families and friends who came from all over to support us and celebrate as we became husband and wife. A truly unforgettable day!

Surf and Sand Wedding Laguna Beach

Loved this super HOT couple, Natalie and Phil, and their Surf and Sand Beach Wedding. The wedding ceremony was gorgeous and it overlooked the ocean in Laguna Beach. Planned by Natalie Good with A Good Affair, this wedding was all decked out and the reception room was gorgeous, complete with a candy table, a photo booth, and decor to die for. The ring bearer was their little pug dog in a purple tutu, super cute.The bride Natalie was smokin' hot and very sweet, together Phil and Natalie are definitely lookers. :) This couples engagement shoot is a must see. At the end of the blog I included 2 links to their 2 part engagement shoot in the rustic fields and downtown Laguna. David Tosti shot 2nd camera with me on this wedding and rocked it as always. An Irish Pub Wedding in Seal Beach

I am a super huge fan of unique and meaningful weddings! That is why this wedding in particular, along with their super unique engagement shoot at the Huntington beach Library, made me very excited to shoot it. I love when weddings are different then all the rest. This Irish pub wedding in Seal Beach, California certainly was different and anything but typical. Natalie with A Good Affair planned, designed, and did all the florals for this wedding. www.agoodaffair.com She had a great time coming up with ideas for this. The venue was very special to the couple as Harmony and Kyle have hung out together for years at O'Malley's. The wedding ceremony was held in the courtyard behind the pub and was intimate and special. Harmony was absolutely beautiful and this couple is crazy in love. After the couple was officially wed we hit the streets on Main Street and headed towards the sand and pier for photos and the bridal party had a great time. Then the real party began where everybody was in a Merry mood, guests drank, danced, and partied all night. Steve Burdick rocked the house with his awesome spinning. The is a super nice apartment upstairs above the courtyard of the pub, perfect for Getting Ready's, and the bride and groom stayed there for 2 nights.

The Knot Party OC-Unique Wedding Vendors

This is the blog as promised dedicated to all of wonderfully unique vendors at the Annual Knot party in OC. Natalie Good with A Good Affair planned and designed the event hosted at one of the best venues in Orange County, Rancho Las Lomas in Silverado Canyon, California. This property is a Spanish Style, mulit-level venue complete with four tigers, including 2 white tigers, zebras, exotic birds, and the entire venue is canopied by trees. It is beautiful. As I said in my previous blog showcasing the design, decor, and venue, this was the best networking party I have ever been to. I cannot say enough great things about it, and it was super swanky and over the top! The sponsoring vendors below are some of the most unique wedding vendors I have seen. The food was great, the decor was gorgeous, the music bumpin', and drinks and desserts were flowing! It was a great night. The Knot Party OC 2011

I had the opportunity to shoot this years Annual Knot Party in OC. First off, I want say how wonderful this night was! It was really over the top and Natalie with "A Good Affair" really outdid herself with the coordination and design.

The Knot has an annual party every year in OC. This year it was at Rancho Las Lomas, one of the best wedding venues in Orange County. This Spanish styled venue features two white tigers, zebras, birds throughout, and a multi-level venue that keeps you wondering. The night was titled "Cocktails and Connections," and it was the best Networking event I have ever been to. Everything was amazing, from the food to the unique wedding vendors, not to mention the decor to the floral arrangements were just awesome. If you do not know what The Knot is, you are most obviously not in the wedding business or recently married. The Knot is one of the biggest Wedding Networks for bridal resources. The Knot has a national and local wedding magazine and website for brides looking for ideas, vendors, gowns, and wedding tools. Congrats to Amanda and Jacob recently wed at Wilson Creek Winery in Temecula. The wedding was beautiful, not to mention all of the bridal party and guests were all beautiful as well. I thought the bride and groom was great looking, and then I showed up and felt like I had just stepped onto a movie set of perfect looking people. HA! They really had a great looking crowd! Amanda is such a sweet bride and made some great choices, I especially loved the reception decor and lighting. Enjoy this swanky and cutesy winery wedding, it was a blast!

Fullerton Wedding at Summit House by the "Dream Team"

The link above is to see their engagement shoot. Their wedding was traditionally lovely with a lot of thought and planning! This was a destination wedding for this couple as they are from Texas. They were wed the end of June at St. Norberts in Orange, and Romantics were done in the Historic Circle of Downtown Orange. Getting Ready shots were done at Embassy Suites in Brea and everything else was shot at the Summit House in Fullerton.

This wedding had what I call "The Dream Team" of wedding vendors! The wonderful list of vendors below made for a fantastic wedding. When I work with vendors like these the wedding is a guaranteed success. PRO and experienced vendors are a must for a smooth and perfect wedding. Each vendor has a responsibility on the wedding day to insure an amazing day. If the florist does not deliver the flowers in the right place, their will be none in all of the getting ready pics. If the DJ is not a wedding PRO and Emcee, then the reception will not flow and the night will not be as fun or memorable. The what I like to call, "Team Captain" for this wedding was Natalie with "A Good Affair" which is an amazing wedding coordinator. Natalie's weddings are always well planned, gorgeous and always has an amazing team! Kenny Grill shot 2nd camera on this wedding, thank you Kenny!
