For instance I have two domains which I bought from Google Apps (GA), ab1.com and ab2.com, now first I logged into my ab1.com Google Apps account to see the login details of Domain Name Manager for ab1.com domain. After I changed the NameServer I just changed ab1.com to ab2.com which is in starting of the URL so that I can login to my another GA account (http://google.com/a/cpanel/ab1.com/DomainSettingsAdvancedDns?domainName=ab1.com to http://google.com/a/cpanel/ab2.com/DomainSettingsAdvancedDns?domainName=ab1.com), now I was asked to login in to my ab2.com GA account so I did but after I logged in I show that it is showing the same login details for Domain Name Manager which I show in ab1.com.

This made me think for a while, how this can happen. Then my eye noticed something on address bar that at the end of URL it is still written ab1.com, so instantly something came into my mind and I thought of trying some different domain which were bought through GA and I don’t know about the GA account login details for that domain, so first domain strike me was of Amit Agarwal’s domain called labnol.org, as also at that moment his blog was already down and hacked by someone (as Amit Agarwal claimed in one of his tweet) so I given a shot and this time I changed the ab1.com to labnol.org which was written at the end of URL: http://google.com/a/cpanel/ab2.com/DomainSettingsAdvancedDns?domainName=labnol.org and what I show was really shocking that I was actually able to see labnol’s Domain Name Manager login details. And then without giving a second thought I made a status update on my Facebook a/c that there is a bug in GA system by which most of the domains bought through GA can get hacked (without disclosing much information on it).

And just after making that update I started trying to get in contact with Amit but there was no-reply on his number then I started contacting Google Apps support team and was trying to explain them about the bug which where there in their system.

When got in contact with one of their support team they were not believing me that there can be any kind of such security flaws in there system and to explain them about this it took me more than an hour and still I wasn’t able to see Good sign that they are taking me seriously and I also heard one of them where laughing when I was trying to explain them about it. I thought why I should waste my precious time by helping them, as they started laughing on me, it made me really angry but for the shake of millions of domains which were bought through GA so to help those people who bought I again tried to explain them and still I wasn’t able to see any positive sign.

Then I made a screen-cast using  screener.com and showed them the video that I was able to see the login details even without needing to login to their GA account then they believed me that I wasn’t making any fun out here and I was damn serious about it. Then they said that yes it a massive issue and should be resolved soon and they will forwarded the request to their team to look into it and will get back to me ASAP via email or via phone call.

Then the problem got solved in few hours, however I never heard from them again even I sent them an email asking for an update about the same but didn’t received any reply from them. At least I was expecting to get some acknowledgment (if they can’t reward) from them as I reported them such a huge bug and without misusing it.

P.S. Anyways I just wrote this post make everyone aware about this problem that Google Apps had and also wanted to request Mr. Amit Agarwal to change his Domain Name Manager login details.

When you will open Gmail (or Google Calendar) you will see an info bar on top where it will ask you if you would like to Allow Gmail to open all email links, there you need to click on Use Gmail and then all the mailto links will open to Gmail.

As in Firefox we get options to choose from popular service providers but in Google Chrome currently we don’t have any such option, for Chrome a particular service/site need to add a JavaScript code by which Chrome users can get the option to add their services in the list.

You can manage these from Settings –> Content settings –> Manage handlers. From there you can change or remove the site or service you want.

So to make it entertaining and animated you can put videos and movies as your desktop wallpaper. No I am not joking, some of you might know about it, as there is a hidden feature in VLC Media Player from long time by which we can set videos as desktop background wallpaper. So if you want to know how then follow these steps:

1. Open VLC media player in your computer
2. From top menu bar select Tools –> Preferences –> Video

3. Now in Output drop-down from Default change it to DirectX (DirectDraw) video output, then press Save button (make sure you have DirectX installed in your computer, in most case it should be installed)

4. Then close VLC player and again run it and play any video you want in it
5. Then right-click on video screen and select Video –> Set as Wallpaper

Now your video will become your desktop wallpaper and it will work as normal wallpaper but it will be moving, just one thing you need to know that once you (right-click and) refreshed your desktop then video will get disappear and you are back to your old wallpaper. After you set video output to DirectX and restart VLC Player you will see if you use Windows Vista or 7 then Aero feature will get disable temporarily (till VLC is running in DirectX output mode).

Instead of changing the video output and directly try (step 5) to set video as wallpaper then also it will get added but icons will not be visible and when you do right-click instead of showing default right-click menu it will show right-click menu of VLC Media Player. Basically your VLC media player will get into full screen mode with your taskbar on top.

1. You can embed YouTube videos in two ways, first is using old objet embed tags and the seconds way is using new iframe tag which also supports HTML5 player and now it also made as default way to embed YouTube videos.
2. Similar to YouTube video player you can also embed YouTube Video Playlist in object embed tag and iframe tag.
3. If you want to add YouTube video player without its logo or YouTube branding and at the same time you also want it to start playing automatically as it gets loaded then you can use YouTube popup Video Player. It has no YouTube branding but it starts playing atomically, generally used in watch YouTube videos in full browser window size. To embed, use this URL in an iframe tag http://www.youtube.com/watch_popup?v=VIDEO_ID and replace VIDEO_ID with your YouTube video ID.
4. If your website uses HTTPS protocol instead of HTTP and want to embed a YouTube video then you can use HTTPS while embedding YouTube videos instead of HTTP. ***
5. If you don’t want to display YouTube logo in YouTube video player then use modestbranding=1 parameter. **
6. You are embedding a YouTube video and you want that it plays by default in 720p HD instead of normal 360p/240p resolution then you need to use hd=1 parameter. ***

10. Use fs=1 parameter to let your visitor allow switching to full screen mode and it will also show full screen button in video player. *
11. If you like to auto hide YouTube video player controller while the video is playing then add autohide=1 parameter. ***
12. In general video title, uploader name, etc. display on video player at top, so if you don’t want it to appear and want to hide then use showinfo=0 parameter. ***
13. If you are looking for a way to display border around your YouTube video player then add border=1 parameter. *
14. If you embed a video which has caption and you would like to enable it then use cc_load_policy=1 parameter and it will start showing caption when video will play, even if user has turned captions off. ***
15. You want your embedded video to play in a loop, once it get completed playing then it should again start playing from starting then use loop=1 parameter. *
16. If you don’t want to show search box after video completed playing then use showsearch=0 parameter. *
17. If you want to disable displaying related videos after your completed playing then use rel=0 parameter. **

P.S. In most cases in parameter 0 stands for false and 1 stands for true.

The first parameter that you will add in your video URL, make sure to add a question mark (?) just before your parameter and after video ID (question mark is not needed in popup video player) and from second parameter use ampercent a.k.a And sign (&). E.g.: I don’t want to display YouTube logo in player and want to enable auto hide controller so I will use it like this http://www.youtube.com/embed/VIDEO_ID?modestbranding=1&autohide=1 and will use this URL while embedding video.

1. Go to google.com/settings/plus
2. Under Notification delivery click on Add/Edit Phone Number
3. Now select your country and enter your mobile number
4. Then click on Send verification code button

5. Now you will receive an SMS containing verification code, on the number you have given
6. Enter that Verification Code and click on Conform button

Now to update your Google+ status by sending an SMS to +91-92-2222-2222 (only for people in India) with your status and it will get posted on your Google+ news feed. For people from other countries can see their numbers and supported service providers here.

And if someone comments on their post or updates you will receive an SMS containing that comment, depending upon if you have enabled Receive notifications option in Google+ settings page.

While actual SMS attacks are quite rare, it is technically possible for an attacker to spoof an SMS. For example, by sending an SMS to Google that appears as though it came from you, while in fact it did not. So to solve this problem you can also set SMS security PIN, which you can choose by yourself so that it is easy to remember and you need to add that PIN in starting of message every time you send an update.

• Your PIN must contain 4-8 alphanumeric (A-Z and 0-9) characters
• You must use a computer to set up your PIN in your notification delivery settings
• PINs are case-sensitive

E.g.: For instance my SMS security PIN is Dzire so if I need to update my status, this is what I will type in SMS: “Dzire Just completed reading my 20^th novel”

It’s simple, user friendly and we can use it easily wherever we want.

You can set any width, height, background color, foreground (text) color, select type or format (GIF, PNG or JPG) you want the dummy image to be in and if you like to show any custom text on that images placeholder .

You can set your requirements in a URL in following format:

• If you want to use x in between numbers to show in custom text on image then use multiplication sign (×) else you will run into problem. E.g.: If you try to manually enter a dimension as text and if the numbers uses the UTf-8 Hex values above, like &text=300×260. Use a multiplication symbol, × instead (not an x character) to get around this, &text=300×260

So if you want to completely hide YouTube branding from its player when you embed it on your blog or website then you can use popup method, generally it is used for watching videos in full browser size but it can also be used for embedding videos.

We can embed it as we embed HTML5 player using iframe, to embed you just need to change VIDEO_ID with your YouTube video ID which you want to embed.

To start popup embedded video at specific time then add #t=n just after the YouTube video ID and replace n with from where video will start (need to mention in seconds). here is an example, where video will start at 30 seconds

So when first person (whose computer we are remotely accessing via TeamViewer) try to do or show anything on his computer we won’t be able to know what he is trying to show as the mouse pointer is not visible by default. I generally face this type of problem a lot as because when I need to discuss about the designs with my designers I couldn’t able to see their cursor when I am accessing their computer or vice versa. It happens because by default show remote cursor is disabled.

So to view remote cursor you need to manually enable it every time you connect with a remote computer. After you connect to remote computer click on View option from top menu bar (if you can can’t see the menu bar on top then click on the arrow on top to pull down menu bar), now click on Show remote cursor, after you click on it you will able to view the remote cursor remote computer.

Yes, our free VLC Media Player can also convert almost any videos format to many popular formats that also without any limitations and with user friendly UI (User Interface). Here let me tell you how you can convert a video from one format to another with the help of VLC Media Player:

1. Open VLC Media Player in your computer
2. Click on Media (from top menu bar) –> Convert / Save… or press Ctrl + R

3. Under Files Selections, add videos which you would like to convert
4. Then click on Convert / Save button

5. Now under Destination, Browse the folder where you would like to save that converted video (and also give a name, by what name which would like to save video in)

If you don’t want to convert full video then simply click on stop button till where you would like to convert or control the timeline to convert part of video from anywhere in middle but you will not able to see the sense while controlling timeline when video is getting converted.

So you can use DropBox to keep sync of all the files and documents with other team members. To sync each one of you need to have a DropBox account and its software installed in your computer, if not then do it now. After all the members installed DropBox in their computer, then one of the member from the group need to follow these steps (I will suggest team leader to do so):

1. Open your DropBox folder
2. Create a new folder in your DropBox folder, rename it and give your project name to that folder
3. Right-click on that folder, select DropBox –> Share this folder…

4. Now DropBox website will open in your default web browser
5. Then you will see a popup box where it will ask you to enter names or email addresses
6. Simply enter email address of all the team members (The email address which they are using for their DropBox account)
7. If you want you can also add a message with it and then click on Share Folder button

Now it will send the invitation to all the email address you have given, when team member will open that email and click on invitation link they will get access to that folder, now that folder will be download in their DropBox root folder.

Everyone will have access to all the files and folder in that shared folder, they can create, view, edit, delete whenever they want, can invite other people also in that folder, they leave that folder whenever they want but only who created that folder and first shared it with other members of the team can kick out anyone from that folder, unshared the entire folder anytime s/he wants and can also transfer ownership of that shared folder to another member with other members with whom that folder is being shared.

This share folder feature really helping me to keep sync with all the files with my Dzire 2 Dzine team and I don’t have to ask them to send me files via email me or via any file sharing website, they just put the files in their DropBox folder and almost instantly it will be available in my DropBox folder.

So if you are also the owner of a blog or website, where want to add one such feature on your blog or website then all you need to add is a speech attribute in input type tags of your form fields and it will automatically will add a microphone icon in that input type field. E.g.:

At the time of writing Speech Input API was only supported by Google Chrome web browser and only in input type field, so if you or your visitors are visiting from another web browser they will see the normal input type field (without microphone icon). Here is a live demo:

In case if you want to show it in textarea type field (like comment box or for any other use) then you will not be able to add speech attribute directly as we do in input type field because currently it is only supported for input type field. So to make it work with textarea field we can take the help of JavaScript.

In above code we have given a textarea which is for comment, input type field to add speech button and JavaScript to copy the text from input type field and past it into textarea. Apart from comment box you can also use it in your contact or feedback form. Here is a live demo:

If you are on Blogger.com platform then by default it is always enabled, if your blog or website is on self hosted server then follow the below ways.

Self Hosted WordPress

To enable gZip in Self Hosted WordPress blog you need to open Options (All Settings) page, to open that you will need to add /wp-admin/options.php after your domain name, for instance let’s say your blog domain name is example.com then you will find option page at example.com/wp-admin/options.php, their find gzipcompression option, their simple replace 0 with 1 (0 stands for false and 1 stands for true) and then click on Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.

Note: - Don’t play with that All Settings page till you are 100% not sure about. If you played with it and if something went wrong then you can lose your blog.

For Others

Add the below lines in your blog or website’s htaccess file and save it.

1. Check the footer credit:

Most of the theme creators mention theme name, their own name or blog name at the footer of every page, especially when those themes are available for free (e.g.: this blog’s footer also contain credit part of theme creator).

2. View the source code:

Theme creators sometimes also mention their theme details in HTML comment, you will able to view them by viewing the source code. This blog also had but I have removed it to decrease the loading time, I removed from HTML comment as credit to the theme creators are already given at the footer of my blog.

3. Visit WhatWPThemeIsThat website:

In case if a blog don’t have theme name or its creator name in footer and if you also don’t know how and where to find in source code then you can find using WhatWPThemeIsThat.com. All you need to do is mention any blog URL on WhatWPThemeIsThat website and it will try to find all the details from that blog and will return them to you within few minutes (Note: - it can only find theme details only from WordPress powered blog).  In case if couldn’t able to find then most probably that blog is not WordPress powered blog or blog owners made the details hidden for security reasons or it can be also possible that it is a custom WordPress theme.

Or if you have made many bookmark of useful URLs of blog and articles, in which most of those bookmarks of blogs and articles are hosted on Blogger.com blog and uses BlogSpot subdomain then it may happen that you again visit any of those blog or article which you have already bookmarked but at the time of visit it you don’t remember that you have already bookmarked it in your web browser, as your web browser will also not able to notify you because that domain will get redirected to your local (domain name extension) ccTLD and most probably you must have bookmarked that article in .com TLD not in any local ccTLD.

So couple of weeks back in March end I have posted an article on how you can prevent your blog from getting redirected to local domain (ccTLD) but it is for those are for blog owner hosted on Blogger.com but whats about readers, when they visit any blogs, which don’t use any such trick to stop redirection to ccTLD then readers has to manually add /ncr every time they visit a Blogger.com blog, if they want to bookmark it or want to check if it is already bookmarked or not.

But now they don’t have to, here is the solution, I have made a bookmarklet above, all you need to do is just drag and drop it into your bookmark bar of your web browser and then whenever you visit a blog which are hosted on Blogger.com and gets redirected to ccTLD, at time simply click on that bookmark and that blog will again get back redirected to *.blogspot.com subdomain.

Here is the JavaScript code used in that bookmarklet, if you want you can also use this JavaScript code to execute in a different ways from your web browser.
