I've been thinking a lot lately about how I want to simplify my life. I want to reduce the amount of clutter, reduce the amount of things, reduce the amount of distractions, eliminate the "waste of time" activities and get rid of the majority of my worries and stresses in life. I'm hoping this will enable me to focus on a smaller number of things that are truly important to me.

Has any one had some success with simplifying and focusing? If so what has worked or what hasn't worked so well?

Indian Man Sues GM Cause his Car is NOT a Goat and Wins!..??

An Indian man sues GM because his car is NOT a mountain goat or at least doesn't preform like one as stated by GM. I assume that mountain goats are perceived as being at the pinnacle of off-road performance in India. I guess this guy has been suing GM for 3 years trying to get retribution for his car that broke down in only 1 foot of water in 2005. I personally have heard of mountain goats that can go through at least twice that amount of water with out a single problem. I get where this guy is coming from, goats are way better than cars. Why would anyone say that a car is as good as a goat. He won the lawsuit after his case made it all the way to the Indian Supreme Court. GM bought back his car and paid for the lawyer's fees. He should have just bought the goat in the first place.

I have been trying to learn about internet marketing and doing business online for a little while now. Believe me there is a lot of crap out there. But this guy, Stephen Pierce seems to be the real deal. There is some good solid advice here on improving your sales process and growing your business.

I made some notes as I listened to this rather lengthy video(well over and hour). I will post them below. I don't know how long this link will work, but I thought it was a very good presentation. I can appreciate good solid, grounded advice as apposed to a lot of the overly hyped and exaggerated stuff you will find.(especially in the world of internet marketing)

The 7 Figure Code

Nothing moves without a sale

Sales Process- Value is created in the journey through the sales process

* Value is what people are willing to take action to get and willing to take action to keep.
* The sale process is the profit nervous system of your business

What does your sales process look like?
You have to understand what everyone goes through as they move through your sales process

7 steps to 7 Figure Sale Process

1. Set your sales goals
2. Map your sales process
3. Set objectives for key value points
4. Measure key value points
5. Identify critical vulnerabilities
6. Select your focus of effort
7. Decide on and Activate Main Effort

Vince Lombardy- If you are not keeping score you are just practicing. (metrics, numbers, accounting for business)

Don't do what you can't measure.

Only automate something that is already working (making you money)

If you try to be strong everywhere you will be strong nowhere.

Three things you need to have success in anything.

Self discipline and determination are hard to come by. I can really identify with this common problem that my boy Jack Johnson sings about in Flake(one of my favorite songs).

And often times we're lazy
It seems to stand in my way
Cause no one no not no one
Likes to be let down

We don't try because failure sucks. We don't want to let ourselves or anyone else down. Every time we try there is a chance of falling down which requires us to pick ourselves back up. So because of fear or just plain laziness we stall out and get nowhere. We let the laziness get the best of use and our forward progression stops.

So I think it is awesome and inspiring to see stories like this...

South Korean Lady Passes Driving Test on the 950th Try!

This 68-year-old woman wanted her driver's license so badly that she has gone to take the written test nearly every single day since April of 2005. When it was all said and done, Cha ended up taking that same written test about 950 times before managing to get a 60% or higher score. Ya you heard right – this lady took the written test 950 times before earning a passing grade. On top of that Cha spent more than five million won (about $4,200) in application fees over the last four years. Cha is not in the clear yet, she still has to pass the actual driving test before being rewarded with a real license. According to local media reports, Cha hopes a driver's license will improve her door-to-door vegetable-selling business.

You can say what you want about this woman's intelligence. Say what you will about the horrific panic other Korean drivers might have if they saw her on the road, but the audacity, tenacity, and shear determination is simple amazing. I believe if we could only have this much resolve after each one of our failures our success in anything and everything would be guaranteed.

I really hope this lady passes the road test. For you this might seem like something small and insignificant. But Cha believes something.... she believes she can and will get her driver's license.

They are voting on the budget. For those that don't know much about money let me give a little advice. (common sense) If you are in debt then a budget is paramount. Solitare, Facebook, and baseball can wait.

Please, please someone tell me this picture is photo-shopped and not true.

I saw this and realized that if the driver in that BMW X5 from my last post was a guy he most likely would have backed down, and then try make it all the way over the cars he ran over in the first time.

In this video someone (most likely a lady) demonstrates perfectly how not to park a BMW X5. The one on the right is the gas and the one on the left is for stopping. If you hit the one on the right twice you will go faster. Sounds complicated but really it is a fairly simple even 4 year old's can do it.

But what gets me is after the apparent "holy crap did that just happen" moment this lady has the nerve to drive off. She probably got caught anyways.

But seriously how awesome is the fact that a stock BMW X5 can be used as a monster truck! I would have never guessed. Maybe I should pick up a used X5 up and go to town.

Tom's Shoes has a simple business model. For each pair of shoes they sell they give a pair of shoes to a child in need. Apparently this model is simple and effective enough that some other people had to copy it.

Its light weight, strong, and can look sweet. The downside is that is expensive, currently difficult to use for high production, and not very impact resistant. But I saw this carbon fiber Aston Martin and my jaw dropped because I know first hand how much time and money would have to go into making/customizing a car like this. I think it looks sweet and I wouldn't mind having one if it weren't for the price tag.

Mansory Cyrus is what carbon fiber was made for.

I would take one of these bad boys over the Prius any day.

The Making of the Bullitt

For those that have never heard, Bullitt has one the most famous and ground breaking car chases in cinema history. And this was done back before CGI and computers. Steve McQueen really tried to make it as realistic of a movie as possible. I really dig this classic movie and you should check it out. Its a little different and by today's standard it might not be as exciting, but its definitely more real. The car chase is cool especially if you are into cars. You'll appreciate it a little more after watching this clip about the making of the Bullitt.
