Amidst the crazy crowds of Cross Vegas, and little time or ability to move around I was able to shoot the little gem above. I spent all of 2 minutes. I didn't bother asking him to look to ironic as he had that figured out already.

The "Wheeler's and Dealer's" race is serious business. George Barthel was on a mission and had his game face on. Just after the holiday Carl came down to So Cal so we could film a piece about a new bike Giant has coming. Carl was the main test dummy- and we figured shooting in SoCal would be a pretty simple task- especially compared to what he might have going in Bend.

Day 4 of world's would see the biggest swings in weather. As long as I waited 10 minutes I knew it would change. Early on it was cold and foggy. This made it hard to get out of the gondola and go find a spot to shoot the last DH practice.

After a few laps of the gondola I did get out and started to get excited about what the day may bring. Loose super muddy leg out turns.

Waking up on day 3 I knew it was going to be a challenge. The rain had arrived. Driving to the venue I kept thinking "shoot moody." Once at the Giant pit's Adam Craig showed me the "doppler radar" on his computer and I relaxed a bit. The rain wasn't going to last long- so I'd get epic mud shots and classic XC pain without having to deal with nasty downpours. Day 2 for me at World's saw a completely different morning. By this time I was caught up on sleep and ready for a big day. Rain was supposed to be on the way and my shoot schedule included DH practice and the men's U23 race. I already had some ideas for DH practice but had yet to even see the XC course. Good thing I was going to have 30 minutes in between to figure out what I was doing.

MTB World's Day 1

After a mix-up with my passport I arrived in Monte Sainte Anne for the World Mountain Bike Championships about 8 hours behind schedule. No worries though. Went straight up the hill for my first course walk and in my typical fashion I tried avoiding what everyone else was shooting (crazy dust.) Somehow I found the only berm on the course with hero dirt and got the shot of Sam Blenkinsop

Windham Mtn MTB World Cup

The shot above was during the final practice of the DH event during the MTB World Cup at Windham Mtn in New York. It was a long ways up steep terrain to get to that spot, and tells you everything you need to know about MTB fans on the east coast and the need for this level of competition in the USA. High expectations for crowds and overall energy were easily made. Eliot Jackson is the rider above and he has some pretty impressive skills. I've known him for awhile and have been stoked that he got into the DH thing. If he wants it bad enough he's going to do more than turn heads. This was during the A-line Air DH. He may not have been the fastest on the day but he had better Bubba scrubs then anyone on course by a mile.

Another trip down. I got home late last night. Woke up this morning and starting scanning through what I've shot in the past week. Kinda surprised myself. I'm not saying I took any "earth shattering" photos, but I have been all over the place, shot some fun stuff, hung out with great people, got the job done, and done well when it really counted. First up was a last minute clothing shoot. 25 items with 2

US MTB Championships

Just got back from the US MTB Championships held at the SolVista Bike Park in Granby, CO. The higher altitude and mid-day sun were a bit challenging- not to mention my 2 hour hiking detour the morning of the U23 race with my camera pack. That pretty much ruined my legs and feet from the start but I got through it.

Funny things go through my head when I'm at a "big event."
