I had a BLAST with these two. Nothing like running around most of the day with our eyes turned skyward, just waiting for the rain to ensue. The forecast was calling for it, but Briana wasn't having it! Luckily we had a day that was without one drop of precipitation. Thanks friends for allowing me to be a part of your wonderful time.

6:45PM - This time a year ago today I was sitting in a room designated to us in the hospital. It was our holding cell while we waited for our newly born daughter to be brought in to us "when she warms up". Little did we know that within hours she would be whisked off to a children's hospital that could offer more clarity on our situation. This began our year of becoming well known in Dr.'s Offices, Cardiologist Office's, the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and the PICU (Pediatric).
Fabienne was born with Trisomy 21, known also as Down Syndrome. What began as a rocky start has turned to be out to be the biggest blessing of my life! She's my little pal and is a total gift from God. Today, she's 1 and I celebrate her. Happy Birthday Love.

Here's a family I don't think I could live without! Some of you may know them as Justin & Cindy. To me they are; Justin, design business partner, fellow coffee & music lover, occasional band mate, & Cindy, gourmet rice krispy maker (she's a baker) & barber. Justin and I sit around and dream about the small organic farms we will one day have where we combine and share foods. He's got quite the head start! Awesome People.

Every year I try to search for the words to describe what it's like to be married to you and every time they fall short. I appreciate you, your heart and your passion for life. You are an unbelievable partner and you set such a great example of what a wonderful, Godly woman should be for little Faba! I continue to be amazed at how much you bless my life. October 2, 2010. That's the day Kathleen and Russell became "The Manalastas"! October 21, 2010. That's the day I became "Dad". August 19, 2011. That's the day I share with you what a special day they had! Life got more than crazy when Fabienne was born causing this post to slip under the feeding tubes and trips to the cardiologist. I recently saw Kathleen and Russell and thought "HEY! I never posted their wedding!"
It was mostly an overcast day, as most fall days seem to be. Kathleen, Russell, and Crew added plenty of life to an otherwise gloomy day. Tons. Of. Fun. I love seeing how much these guys love life and the way they can spark laughter with a look. They smile a lot, and it's contagious. Throughout the day they were sneaking to practice their "secret" dance which was a treat! After the reception I wanted to hire their DJ to play the music of my life. Follow me around daily and play only the best 80's, 90's, and 00's to my daily activities. It was a privilege to part of this day. Thanks Kat and Russ!

Oh Briana (& Pat)! After 2 attempts at pulling off an engagement shoot due to business and work schedules, it finally came down to saying..."Want to try a sunrise shoot?" Of course, I didn't think about what I was saying and that I would actually have to wake at this ridiculous time. After agreeing, they met at my house at 5:15AM. AM if you didn't catch that. 5:15. I'm tired thinking about it. It took only minutes before Briana & Pat, and were climbing hills, trudging through ditches, and turning their outfits into a Hot Mess! Great sunrise and Great couple! You guys were a blast and I can't wait for your Big Day!

If you don't already know, I LOVE the Adirondacks. I'm looking for reasons/excuses to move there on a weekly basis. In the meantime, we take as many trips as we can. This time was special because it was the tiny one's first camping trip. We usually tent camp but this time Marla booked us a cozy little guide tent (queen bed included), on the premises of The Woods Inn which is nestled in on Fourth Lake, as a treat for fathers day! Happy Fathers Day toooooo Me! As we meandered around during our stay...

Every now and again, I find myself saying..."Oh Life". Sometimes it hits me how interesting, crazy, ridiculous, and amazing life can be. There are so many scenarios it offers. I find it interesting that I can get so wrapped up in what I think it should be and forget about those the blessings and growth that come with the unforeseen. When Fabienne came along we began one of those growth spurts. From birth to feeding tubes to Trisomy 21 to heart surgery, Marla has proved to be more of an incredible woman than I'd ever imagined. She's just the most beautiful person I know. An incredible life mate, who just happens to be gorgeous and always game for anything. It's always a treat to be able to see her through the eyes of the camera and freeze life for a moment. Marla, you inspire me to be a better person and I'm truly thankful to be doing life with you. I Love & Appreciate You Friend. P.S. ~ Faba loves you too!

LOVE ~ TARA & BRENNAN {ENGAGED}

This was a long time coming! These guys have had he pleasure of doing life together for a while now! I always wondered when Brennan would pull the trigger, and I wondered no more when he invited my little family along for a pop the question trip. It was a treat to be there with the two of them. One super nervous. The other super excited (she knew, that bum!). Here we are in a foot of snow at a winter wonderland, in the midst of thousands and thousands of Christmas lights and snowmen when he knelt down and made her the happiest woman alive. What a special moment! Fast forward 6 months... Same crew and a similar situation where we find ourselves knee high in wild vetch with the couch from HEAVEN (thanks Cait)! Minutes before this fine piece of furniture was nestled in the loving room, now, nestled in the midst of a purple fairytale! See our friend Tara had business to take care of (a 40 something day trip to Ireland & Paris) so I figured it was now or never. Other than Brennan and I constantly snotting ourselves due to our allergy attacks, it was one stellar evening. Thanks for letting me be a part of all your hitching occasions! Can't wait til the wedding! Happy Friday to you all.

It was 9:04PM on Friday night, May 6th. I was at a friends house celebrating his birthday. At the party I get a call from an unknown number, so I let it go to voicemail. They left a message. It was Ira. In a panicked voice he proceeded to tell me that something terrible has happened. Their photographer, who was on the way down from Canada, was not allowed across the border. It's hours before the wedding and their photographer was stuck in another country. My heart dropped for them. Ira and Adrienne had already attempted to book me for the wedding but scheduling conflicts didn't allow for it and unfortunately I had to say I wasn't available. But now...I was shooting a wedding tomorrow! I was so glad to be able to relieve them and felt certain that it would be a great day! It's always such a privilege to work with people who appreciate you for what you do and appreciate photography itself. It was an amazing day filled with old cars, paddle boats, campfires, and an awesome couple. So glad I was able to be a part of it!

My dear friends TARA & BRENNAN were recently engaged. On our ride out to the location, Brennan offered up a laugh when he asked, "You're borrowing a couch!?" I calmly said, "You will thank me later!" Glad we did! Can't wait to share some love from these two little birds. Congratulations friends!

LIFE ~ REPORTING IN

It's Monday evening. Nurses shuffle around tending to beeps and changing bags. In the down time, chatting about their home life and favorite foods. We're 4 days in from what was one of my darkest days. Thursday morning came and went. We showed up at 7:30am to meet with the surgeon and anesthesiologists just before handing her over. The morning went pretty well, all things considered. We waited and waited. Then within moments a the Dr. came in and the nurse and swept her away in a nice warm blanket which made her GOO as we said goodbye. There were tense moments that day. Waiting for confirmation that everything was going well at the halfway mark and the call into the hall by the surgeon, just to name a few. She looked amazing. As beautiful as ever. I immediately began rubbing her little fuzzy little head. We were through. Then the waiting began. Now at day 4, we have been through many sections of the roller coaster. I had psyched myself for an event to happen but didn't know when it would come. It came yesterday. Sitting in this chair, every siren began to wail. The nurse began calling in backups and people came running. I was helpless and watching this happen like a fly on the wall. After moments, which seemed like days, she was back to normal. As of today we are on the upswing. There are talks of extubating tomorrow and we've made progress today with weaning. After coming off of a paralytic and 2 types of sedation she is now able to connect with us. It's great to see her eyes again and see those little chubby legs kicking. Unfortunately with the progress comes more of the hard things. Like looking at us and crying with the noise being blocked by the breathing tube and the inability to just scoop her up and let her know that she's just fine. We're moving forward though. We can see the end in sight, hoping to possibly be released Thursday or Friday. Thanks to all of you for your thoughts and prayers. Now take a look at one tough cookie...
