The world of Jams was a little upside down these last 48 hours. Beyoncé is allegedly pregnant again, and Kanyé West now actually things he’s Jesus. Actually, I guess it’s just par for the norm these days. Anyway, JotD is steering clear of all that and going country tonight.

It’s been like a decade since American Idol chose a worthwhile winning artist. And it was all because of tonight’s Jam. I was listening to different versions of the song tonight: Ben E. King (of “Stand by Me” fame) originally wrote and performed the track, and the highest-charting version was done by Tony Bennett back in 1970. Disco legend Sylvester does a wow-inducing disco take on the track, JotD icon Gladys Knight does a nice rendition as well. But the queen was Shirley Bassey.
