NY Shock Exchange vs. CM Mass Maelstrom & LI Rockabetty Bruisers vs. HV Horror zomBsquad [04/09/11]

Shocking carnage that electrified the audience!

Another double header! This time the New York Shock Exchange tested their might against the Central Mass Maelstrom, with sparks flying as skate crashed against skate in a duel that ultimately turned into a bloodbath. The Long Island Roller Rebels also unleashed the renewed power of the Rockabetty Bruisers as they tangled with the dangerous Hudson Valley Horrors zomBsquad with nary a contestant escaping without a brutal lashing.

We witness as the iron hearts of New York Shock Exchange are put to the test as the devious Mass Maelstrom pull every trick in the book to make this truly a war the likes of which no one has ever seen before. With high flying tactics employed by Mass Maelstrom, it was certain that NYSE would not win this battle without extreme repercussions. One of the most interesting manuevers the audience gasped at was some of Mass Maelstroms curious “Maelstrom assaults” – as Jammers whipped over their enemy like vicious thunderheads, nearly clipping some people with their wicked skates. NYSE was not without their own wearpons, however, as their Jammers bolted past the Maelstrom faster than lightning! One example was Jimmy Rage – this jammer nearly split the track in half with his sonic speed and sharp reflexes.

After the madness, we were given a halftime show brought to us by The Penguin Revolution – a hearty team of folk whose warm music soothed our recovering souls.

Then lastly, fresh out of the Roller Rebels laboratories comes the revamped Rockabetty Bruisers! Fangs bared, they warred against the Hudson Valley Horrors zomBsquad with incredible rage! Beginning this bout, the audience was screaming in fury as the zomBsquad started taking some nasty bites into the bruisers, holding onto a winning score with vicious tenacity. At one point, the coach of the bruisers threw his hat down in abject horror! Yet, like all horror movie heroes, the Rockabetty Bruisers adapted to their cunning foes and struck hard and struck often to thin their winning lead until, finally, the madness subsided, and the cries of joy for the home team rang loud!

LI teams combine, face off against ZomB squad

Some of your favorite Derby Girls from the previous three Long Island Roller Rebels teams, including the Rolling Thundercats, the Ladies of Laceration, and the Wicked Wheelers, have decided to unite forces.

With their powers combined…they became:

Some of the old school derby folk will remember this name from years ago, as it was one of the LIRR original team names before they decided to try a divide-and-conquer approach to derby. If we even have a portion of the ladies that were half decent from the previous three teams, I’m fairly certain their reign of terror will be extreme this season.

It’s been half a decade since they’ve tasted blood in the old uniform – I can’t Wait to see them in action!

Where the Rockabetty Bruisers are out for Blood, it seems the Hudson Valley Horrors are out for Brains, as the dreaded throng of ZomB squad makes it’s way down to Long Island…

On Saturday April 9th these two teams will be battling against each other on the rink – bring a poncho, because it looks like it’s going to get very messy.

The same aforementioned event is also a double feature, as the Derby guys from the New York Shock Exchange battle the Central Mass Maelstrom.

The fight between these gnashing titanic forces may present a bout of absolutely legendary proportions, so be sure to be there when the battle begins – you might just have something Epic to tell your grandchildren one day.

Through a friend I was suggested to check out Yonkers for a change of scenery, and was pleasantly surprised by an amazing double header at the E.J. Murray Memorial Skating Rink.

First went the mens teams, then came the girls teams.
From the depths of Conneticut came the CT Death Quads who gave the Baltimore Harm City Homicide team a run for it’s money, with a carnage level that stunned the audience.

Then the Westchester-based Suburbia Roller Derby pitted their Backyard Bullies vs. the Connecticut RollerGirls Yankee Brutals, and the match was a clash of titanic forces -
featuring some serious jammer on jammer action, and all the hurt we could stomach.
