Dancehall artiste Gully Bop is now without a label and a management.

Claims Records has announced that they have dropped the “Body Specialist” deejay from the label and cut all ties.

According to Urban Islandz

A rep for the Claims Records says since he became famous, Gully Bop has been getting disrespectful to everyone at the label and his ego is getting the better of him.

“Claims Records done wid Gully Bop. We done wid everything,” the rep said. “Him a diss everybody whe start him ting. Him a diss the people from the community. Right now Grant’s Pen nuh inna him.

Him dis Boom Boom and Kibaki and a diss everybody.”
The label’s reps says Gully Bop, ala Country Man, has also been reluctant to voice songs for other producers and radio disc jockeys.

The world’s fastest man, Usain Bolt, says he’s finally ready to settle down and have kids. Despite being a magnet for female fans, Bolt now hopes to meet the right girl and start a family.
The 28-year-old Jamaican — the first man to win six Olympic gold medals in sprinting, an eight-time world champ and multimillionaire, thanks to sponsorships, including as a brand ambassador for Hublot — isn’t exactly short of female attention.

Bolt said, “You do get a lot of offers for sure, it’s one of the perks. You try to stay quiet, but I love women, and you try not to take advantage, but it’s hard. I am trying to find a girlfriend now, I think I am getting to that age right now, 28, where I need to find somebody and I want to have a child. It’s that time, I am trying to focus on having a family. I’d like three or four kids maybe, it’s always good to have brothers and sisters to look out for you.”

Vybz Kartel Conjugal Visit' the 'Rampin' Shop' follow-up

noreply@blogger.com (Dancehall management) — Thu, 06 Nov 2014 20:38:00 +0000

Admitting that Vybz Kartel is still one of the hottest dancehall acts despite being behind bars, Spice says it was only fitting that she finally released the 'Rampin' Shop' follow-up in the form of 'Conjugal Visit'.

Back in 2008, Spice and Vybz Kartel released Rampin' Shop that entered the Billboard Top 100 Singles Chart in 2009.

Now Spice says it is the right time to release Conjugal Visit featuring Vybz Kartel.

"It was done after Rampin' Shop but it never got released. A few months ago, mi call TJ and tell him seh him need fi dust it off because mi need it," Spice said. The video was launched last night at Triple Century in New Kingston.

"Right now Vybz Kartel is the hottest artiste even though he is in prison. So after a huge hit like So Mi Like It with over nine million views on YouTube, I really wanted to follow up that with a banger. You can't go to a song that is lamer than the one you have current."

Although the title of the song suggests that it was recorded after Vybz Kartel's incarceration, Spice insists it was not.

"It wasn't called Conjugal Visit when we originally voiced it. When we release it, we decide to call it Conjugal Visitbecause that name suits it because he is behind bars," she said.

Since the video was placed on Spice's Vevo channel on Sunday, it has racked up over 100,000 views and on World Star Hip Hip, she said it already had over two million.

"People are confused by the Vybz Kartel lookalike in the video. People actually believe it is him," she said, noting that a few scenes from the Rampin' Shop video were also included in Conjugal Visit.

"I am hoping that it will be another big hit for me. It kinda remind me of Rampin' Shop. Vybz Kartel and I have good chemistry and it has been over five years so I think people will gravitate to it real well."

Recording artiste A-Game has recently completed his European tour with Konshens and Di Bluprint Band. The ‘A-Game Everyday’ artiste who visited Portugal, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Sweden, Austria and Denmark performed at several popular festivals such as Summer Jam Festival, Musa Festival and Oland Roots Festival just to name a few. “It was a great experience as well as a personal eye-opener; I was able to promote myself and assist in building the Subkonshus Brand” shared A-Game.

A-Game who is also the lead singer of Di Blu Print Band added that this was his first time touring with the Subkonshus CEO Konshens abroad but that he had worked with him on several shows in Jamaica. “I received such a positive feedback on this tour especially when Konshens introduced me as a new artiste in festivals that sometimes host up to 20000 people” A-Game further added. The tour which lasted for roughly one month also featured Subkonshus artiste Javada and producer Markhize.

A-Game is set to release his first official collaboration with prominent UK DJ/Producer Benny Page; he was also recently featured on popular radio station, Reggae Vibes Radio Atlanta and Power 102.1 FM Boston.

Noisey Say They License Vybz Kartel Song For Jamaican Gay Documentary

noreply@blogger.com (Dancehall management) — Mon, 04 Aug 2014 04:47:00 +0000

The music division of Vice, angered Vybz Kartel fans on social media when they released a music video for the embattled deejay’s single “Beautiful Girl” casting only homosexuals living in the New Kingston gutter. According to Noisey, they licensed the single to use in their new documentary Young and Gay: Jamaica’s Gully Queens.

This was the perfect opportunity for us to come together and make a somewhat surreal video for their favorite artist, with its challenges along the way.”

Electric shocks and twerking came hand in hand. With our generator and lights teetering over the water of the gully and each gully queen dancing harder than the last, it was a dangerous but powerful shoot (and luckily no one got fried).

“Kartel was unable to sign off on this video as an official promo, but we licensed the song and are putting it out there to show people a rarely seen side of one of our favorite places in the world.”

Yesterday a rep for Vybz Kartel told Urban Islandz that he strongly objected to the use of his music in the documentary and has not authorized the music video.

The incarcerated deejay has instructed his legal team address the situation.

The Beyonce, Jay Z Split, Everything You Need To Know

noreply@blogger.com (Dancehall management) — Mon, 04 Aug 2014 04:38:00 +0000

Beyonce and Jay Z splitting up and the whole world is tuning in. Or is all this talk just rumors without substance?

There are new reports suggesting that Beyonce and Jay Z split is not a if but a when and how.
Beyonce and Jay Z have been rocked with rumors of divorce, infidelity and a toxic marriage over the last few months

While the power couple has remained tight lipped on the rumors, they are using social media and their on stage PDA to fight off some of the chatters.

The question fans and folks in the media are asking is if Beyonce will be a single woman in the near future. Is there any truth to the breakup/divorce rumors?

Today, the source says, it’s not whether they’ll split, but how they’ll split — adding that the only time Jay and Beyoncé are really together is on stage. They’re allegedly traveling with marriage counselors, but Jay — as he’s always done — spends much of his time on the phone, tending to business. “His phone’s constantly ringing,” says the source, “Jay trying to make deal after deal.” Calls to representatives for the couple by The Post were not returned.

The question now is whether to stay married while essentially living separate lives — becoming the Bill and Hillary of hip-hop — or publicly divorce. Ultimately, it will be about the brand. “There’s face-saving involved — they don’t want to be looked at like other celebrities out there,” says the source. “They are business people first, entertainers second. Husband and wife comes somewhere down the line.”.

Popcaan says Vybz Kartel Life Sentence, “Its’s Sad”

noreply@blogger.com (Dancehall management) — Wed, 11 Jun 2014 04:42:00 +0000

Popcaan is perhaps the biggest artist to rise from under Vybz Kartel wings. But the former Portmore Empire deejay has been getting some bashing from Gaza fans in recent months for abandoning his mentor after his arrest in 2011.

Earlier this year Vybz Kartel released a statement condemning Popcaan and Tommy Lee for what he called a betrayal.

In the lengthy statement, Vybz Kartel says both artists are no longer members of the Portmore Empire and should refrain from saying their members of the Gaza.
This is one of a few times Popcaan has spoken out about his thoughts on Vybz Kartel conviction and subsequent life sentence.

“It’s straight sadness,” Popcaan told Winford Williams of OnStage. “It’s not a good thing for the music because Vybz Kartel is the main artist that really hold up the business on a level so without Vybz Kartel things are kind of different. So it’s all sadness all the way around because Vybz Kartel bring out Popcaan in the world so me and them man their thing different still.”

Popcaan releases new album today

noreply@blogger.com (Dancehall management) — Wed, 11 Jun 2014 04:38:00 +0000

Dancehall superstar Popcaan, who burst on the scene in 2010 on the biggest dancehall tune of the year, Clarks (with Vybz Kartel), is today releasing his debut album Where We Come From.
As Vybz Kartel's protége, the 23-year-old has proven to be one of most talented up-and-coming vocalists in the genre, lending his distinctive voice to an arsenal of hits such as The System, Dream, Ravin and Billboard charting song, Only Man She Want.

With the release of the album, social media have already been abuzz with excitement. Hashtags such as #wwcf #wherewecomefrom #wayup #tr888, have already surfaced.
Though it remains unusual for dancehall artistes to release full length albums, this debut is testament to Popcaan's vision and growth.
With the first single, Everything Nice, being one of the most popular songs presently in Jamaica, and is anticipated to be a hit in the United States and Europe, expectations are already high for the second release, Love Yuh Bad.
Though the album was officially released today, glowing reviews from notable industry magazines including The Fader, Complex, Buzzfeed, Spin, Riddim and Pitchfork, have pre-empted the highly anticipated album.
Where We Come From is executively produced by Dre Skull and features productions from several Jamaican, American and European producers, Jamie 'YVP' Roberts, Anju Blaxx Adde Instrumentals and Dubbel Dutch.
Popcaan told THE STAR that he was grateful for the support from his fans.
"Big up to all the fans who are going to buy the album. Thanks to my team as well. I am proud of Where We Come From and I hope everyone will enjoy it and support dancehall music and Jamaican culture," he said.
YouTube hits
Since his tenure in the industry, Popcaan became the first dancehall artiste since Sean Paul to have his track playlisted on the BBC. He has since piled up millions of YouTube hits, a Billboard Hot 100 hit and high-profile collaborations with Snoop, Pusha T, and Busta Rhymes.
Where We Come From is now available on ITunes, Amazon and all music sites.

Says sex sells D' Angel defends raunchy pics

noreply@blogger.com (Dancehall management) — Tue, 31 Dec 2013 20:15:00 +0000

Controversial dancehall artiste D'Angel was not booked for Sting 30 but ended up stealing the spotlight by pulling two separate stunts on the night.

The singjay, who recently caught the attention of internationally renowned gossip website mediatakout.com courtesy of her skin- revealing wardrobe malfunction which took place at a recent performance, again revealed herself in a sexual manner to dancehall fans and the inquisitive local media, however, this time it was no accident.

While pulling her first stunt, which was to try and clash Ninja Man for the US$30,000 up for grabs, D'Angel decided to flaunt her goodies by spreading her long, neatly shaved legs in full view of the camera as the controversy- seeking patrons screamed, whether in shock or displeasure.
Media personnel quickly took the opportunity to snap pictures of the dancehall spectacle, while some patrons quickly flipped their smartphones to camera mode as D'Angel gyrated on the floor, the angle of her legs resembling the hands of a clock striking 7 p.m.

As soon as Sting concluded at 6 a.m. on Friday morning, some radio shows were already discussing D'Angel's 'spreading legs' as much as they were discussing Super Cat's performance and the entertaining clashes, many, however, expressing their disgust at D'Angel's display.

One radio show even went as far as to compare D'Angel's actions to the twerking controversy that took place at the 2013 MTV Awards involving Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke.

The STAR caught up with D'Angel immediately after she pulled her Sting 30 stunts. She told The STAR that when she performed she went all out. She also revealed that she was shocked when she found out that her wardrobe malfunction hod gone viral, but admitted that sex sold.

"When I am performing, I just go all out - gyal clean, gyal good. mi just performing. anything goes. When I saw the pictures, I was shocked, but I mean usually I just turn my negatives into positives. sex sells. I don't follow up the media and what the media has to say, but usually, I just turn my negatives into positives. I don't see anything negative about a fat .... . at the end of the day, I'm just working with it. A just music mi a duh as usual and people can look out for the song about the pictures," D'Angel said.

The artiste also said she walked on stage to clash Ninja Man because he called her name and she took that as an invitation because she wanted to win the US$30,000. D'Angel further disclosed that 2014 would see her pushing the envelope further as it relates to sexuality in the dancehall.

Poll finds 43 per cent of Americans think Tessanne Chin will win The Voice

noreply@blogger.com (Dancehall management) — Mon, 09 Dec 2013 01:07:00 +0000

Janet Silvera, Senior Gleaner Writer

MIAMI, Florida:
Reputed celebrity news programme, E News is predicting that Jamaica's Tessanne Chin will win The Voice competition.

This morning, E News released an internal poll stating that 43 per cent of Americans think Chin will outclass the other four contestants who are now left on the show, taking home the coveted the crown.

During an interview with the judges, E News expressed doubts that coach/judge Blake Shelton, who has the record for winning successive episodes, would win again this year.

"Because Team Adam with Tess has a commanding lead... and if we go by the polls, the Jamaican is taking it home with a whopping 43 per cent," said E.

As the news spread throughout the United States, radio personality and philanthropist, Lawman Lynch said he was not surprised, at the E News poll.

"With Americans giving Tessanne a 43 per cent chance of winning, this means the other four competitors have to share 57 per cent among themselves. Tessanne has gone from pursuing her own dreams to championing the hopes and aspirations of an entire nation, the Caribbean and the Diaspora."

He added that he has no doubt Chin will continue to shine in the world of entertainment and make an indelible mark in the global arena.

"There is absolutely no song, I mean NO SONG, she can be given that she's not able to conquer and that is what makes her 'The Voice' for the new era."

The E News hosts said it was sad to see Matthew Schuler, Chin's greatest challenger go home, as they actually saw him as the competition.

Schuler who placed at the bottom of the ladder was sent home last Tuesday.

The Voice, which is aired on NBC Mondays, followed by an elimination show on Tuesdays, now has five contestants left in the competition.

They are: Jacquie Lee, Cole Vosbury, James Wolpert, Will Champlin and the Jamaican great, Tessanne Chin.

Laden Deported Over "Spliff Tail"

noreply@blogger.com (Dancehall management) — Wed, 27 Nov 2013 12:48:00 +0000

A spliff tail has landed entertainer Laden in hot water with the United States.
Laden was deported back to Jamaica recently after a spliff tail was discovered in his pants pocket by immigration officials while he was being processed in the LAX in Los Angeles, California.
Laden who refused to be recorded, tells Music News that it was an honest mistake and he’s upset with himself.

Laden is not the first entertainer to be caught with marijuana in an airport. Last year, Tommy Lee was busted at Grenada's international airport by police

Jamaican singer Tessanne Chin set off another Twitter firestorm tonight when she was announced one of the top six contestants in the American talent show, The Voice.

Tessanne, the fourth contestant to be announced, emotionally hugged the other contestants before making her way to the chair of her coach Adam Levine.

"Adam's coaching has meant the world to me," she said earlier.

"He has been dedicated both on and off the screen. I adore you. You are an awesome being and no matter what happens, you will always be that person for me," Tessanne said.

Other contestants who made it into the top six were James Wolpert and Will Champlin, Cole Vosbury from team Blake; and Shelton and Jacquie Lee from team Christina Aguilera.

Favorite Matthew Schuler was left in the bottom three along with Ray Boudreaux and Caroline Pennell.

Schuler was eventually saved by the Twitter 'Instant Save' feature meaning that Team Cee-Lo has been completely wiped out.

Tessane Chin in top ten on the Voice

noreply@blogger.com (Dancehall management) — Mon, 25 Nov 2013 00:44:00 +0000

Jamaican singer Tessane Chin made it to the top ten on NBC’s The Voice which is aired on Television Jamaica and RETV on Cable in Jamaica.

"The Voice" continued to eliminate vocalists Tuesday night based on America's votes.
The remaining 12 singers brought their all to the stage Monday night but the results were in and it was time to send more deserving candidates home.

A new facet of the show was added this season and for each live show week, the bottom three contestants will be revealed and then America will have five minutes to tweet to save a singer.
This week, the bottom three contestants were Josh Logan from Team Christina and Kat Robichaud and Jonny Gray from Team Cee Lo.

The instant Twitter save was open and by tweeting #VoiceSave and the first name of the contestant of choice, America once again had the power in their hands.
In the end it was Kat Robichaud that was saved.

Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green each lost a team member as Josh Logan from the diva's camp and Jonny Gray from Cee Lo's group were eliminated on Tuesday night's show.
Gray, a former Air Force cadet turned guitarist, said goodbye to his fans via Twitter.
From Adam's camp are Jamaica native Tessane Chin and Carnegie Mellon drop-out James Wolpert. Both were extremely grateful to make it to the top ten.
'Thank you so much for all the love and support please pass this on: ) big hugs and kisses!!!,' wrote Chin to her fans.
Earlier Team Adam hit the stage singing "A Hard Day's Night" by The Beatles and all their voices shined through. With Levine on drums, Champlin on keyboard, and Wolpert on guitar, Chin offered her powerhouse vocals that compensated for her lack of an additional instrument. Observers say They actually looked like a pretty cool band.
The next episode of The Voice will air on Monday, November 19.

Tessanne chin sings Gladys Knight, Usain lends support

noreply@blogger.com (Dancehall management) — Mon, 25 Nov 2013 00:41:00 +0000

Jamaica's Tessanne Chin had a little bit of extra inspiration in the audience for Monday night's performance on NBC's The Voice. Five time World Male Athlete of the Year, Usain Bolt, jetted in from collecting his latest award in Monaco to stand with Tessane's husband Michael Cuffe Jr and her sister, Tami while she belted out Gladys Knight's "If I Were Your Woman."

Again it was a powerful performance, delivered with consumate ease, impressing her coach Adam Levine and the other coach who commented, Christina Aguilera. Levine, as if he had any doubt before, reiterated that she has what it takes to go all the way and win the competition, a point he had made on the day of her audition when she chose to join his team.

As the competition has progressed, however, some of the other singers have come into their own and the Jamaican is by no means guaranteed victory. Tuesday night's results show will see two more competitors failing to advance, based on the level of voting support, leaving just eight to continue the battle towards that final choice for The Voice, 2013.

NOT GUILTY, Vybz Kartel Acquitted Of Murder Charge

noreply@blogger.com (Dancehall management) — Mon, 29 Jul 2013 23:14:00 +0000

Vybz Kartel is breathing a sigh of relief today after the jury was instructed to return a verdict of not guilty. The dancehall star started his high profile trial last week in the Home Circuit court.

After days of back and forth between the prosecution and defense over a statement by an alleged witness, Justice Bryan Sykes sided with Kartel’s lawyers and rejected the states’ motion.
Justice Sykes says he was not convinced prosecutors did all they could to locate the two witnesses, who are believed to be in hiding.

Vybz Kartel, whose government name is Adidja Palmer, was charged for the murder of St. Catherine promoter Barrington “Bossie” Burton.
Detectives say Burton was shot and killed while standing with a group of friends along Walkers Avenue in Gregory Park, St. Catherine.
Nigel Thompson and Lenburgh McDonald were also charged with Burton’s murder. Both men were also acquitted of the murder charge and was set free.

A close source to the self proclaim Worl’Boss told Urban Islandz that members of the Gaza and their supporters are already celebrating the not guilty verdict.

“We start celebrate from last night because we a rep for the Worl’Boss tr8888,” the source said.
Gaza Slim was in tears outside of the Home Circuit Court after the verdict was read.
Despite a huge victory for Vybz Kartel in this case, he will still remain behind bars on another murder charge.

After his arrest in 2011, Kartel was charged with the murder of dancer Clive “Lizard” Williams.
Investigators say they have video evidence linking Vybz Kartel and his co-accused to Williams’ murder.
Official police reports says Williams was beaten to death at a home in Havendale over a missing firearm.

Kartel’s protege Shawn “Storm” Campbell, Kahira Jones, André St John, Calvin “Moonie” Haye, and Shane Williams are also jointly charged with Williams’ murder.
Williams’ body has not been found.
The trial for Clive Williams murder starts in November.
