Vidya, Siddharth might tie the knots soon

If speculation doing the rounds are anything to go by, Vidya Balan is soon going to get hitched to her rumored long-time boyfriend Siddharth Roy Kapoor.

Although, no official announcement has been made from either side, it is believed that the two will tie the knot post the release of Vidya's upcoming flick Kahani in which she plays a pregnant woman in search of her husband and the father of the child. Probably, the wedding might happen in April or May.

Vidya Balan, who has to her credit super hit films like 'Dirty Picture', 'No One Killed Jessica', 'Paa' and 'Ishqiya', has never confirmed her relationship with Kapoor, the Chief Executive Officer of UTV Motion Pictures, but the two have been spotted together at various events.

Reportedly, the actress is also accompanying Siddhartha to various family functions.

Last year, there was a buzz that the couple got married secretly and even headed to their honeymoon, however, Vidya rubbished all the rumors saying that something like this will never happen in her life.

1. Never joke about
Allah,His Ayaat, His Rasool, the Sunnah, or any aspect of Islaam. This is Kufr al-Akbar, and the joker becomes a kaafir in doing so.

Allah, 'Azza wa Jall, Says in Surah at-Tawbah:

"If you ask them (about this), they declare: 'We were only talking idly and joking.' Say: 'Was it Allah, and His Ayaat, and His Messenger that you were mocking? Make no excuse; you disbelieved after you had believed."

2. Do not lie when joking just to make others laugh.

Rasoolullah said:

"Woe to the one who tells lies to make people laugh, woe to him." (Abu Dawood)

3. Do not belittle others nor insult them.

Allah, 'Azza wa Jall, Says in Surah al-Hujuraat:

"O you who believe! Let not a group scoff at another group, it may be that the latter are better than the former. Nor defame one another, nor insult one another by nicknames. How bad is it to insult one's brother after having Faith."

4. Do not be excessive.

Some people joke so much that it becomes a habit for them. Joking is only a rest from striving and seriousness, it is relaxation for the soul. Excessive in joking only hardens the heart.

5. Acknowledge people's status.

Do not mock parents, elders, or others who are older and deserving of respect. Only joke with those you know will accept it and within boundaries.

Rasoolullah said:

"Do not laugh too much, for laughing too much deadens the heart." (Saheeh al-Jaami')

'Umar ibn 'Abd ul-'Azeez said:

"Fear joking, for it undermines chivalry and manliness."

Umar ibn al-Khattaab said:

"Whoever laughs too much or jokes too much loses respect, and whoever persists in doing something will be known for it."

6. It should not involve backbiting.

Rasoolullah said:

"(Backbiting is) your mentioning about your brother something that he dislikes." (Saheeh Muslim) . The matter being true or false is irrelevant, it is still backbiting.

7. Choose appropriate times for joking.

There are times, such as a Jenaazah for example, where there should be no useless talk, especially joking. It is a time for seriousness and contemplation.

Joking in the correct manner is a Sunnah. However, it must be within its boundaries.

Bilaal ibn Sa'ad said:

"I saw them (the Sahaabah) jokingly pretending to fight over some goods, and lauging with one another, but when night came they were like monks."

Bakr bin 'Abdullah said:

"The Sahaabah of Rasoolullah used to throw melons at one another (in jest). In times of real trials, they were (serious) men."

Haj applications from March 1

HYDERABAD, February 9, 2012

Application forms for Haj 2012 will be issued from March 1 to April 16. Pilgrims intending to go on Haj should pay Rs. 200 along with a self-attested photostat copy of the passport at the time of applying.

Only medically fit persons will be allowed to go, says Haj Committee EO

Those selected through the ‘qurrah' (draw of lots) will have to pay the first instalment of Rs. 51,000 and submit their original passport which should be valid up to March 31, 2013. The balance amount has to be paid before July 19.

This time round, there will be only two categories of accommodation at Makkah – Green and Azizia. The ‘White' category has been done away with since there is not much of a difference distance-wise between these accommodations. These decisions were taken at the meeting of executive officers of State Haj Committee held at Mumbai the other day. Haj flights from India are expected to be operated from September 19 to October 20. The standing at Arafa (Haj) will be on October 26 this year.

According to S.A. Shukoor, Executive Officer, A.P. State Haj Committee, only those persons would be allowed to undertake the journey who are medically fit. Every pilgrim has to submit a fitness certificate from a registered medical practitioner. Last year a number of persons who went on pilgrimage died in Saudi Arabia besides a number of women pilgrims who were in advance stage of pregnancy gave birth in the Kingdom resulting in lot of problems.

The Haj Committee of India has also fixed the cut-off date for pilgrims abover 70 years for direct selection without ‘qurrah'. Such persons should be of 70 years by February 29, a day before the applications are issued. Similarly the cut-off date for two-year infants accompanying parents has been fixed. Children should be two years old by November 30, 2012.

This was done as earlier many infants accompanying parents turned three years in Saudi Arabia and there was a problem of ticket in the return journey. Infants are not charged anything, it is said

Ambassador A K Damodaran was the last link between the freedom struggle and Indian diplomacy, the last of those, who walked from a British prison to take on national responsibilities, says T P Sreenivasan.

Ambassador A K Damodaran is no more. We will not see him again, with books in hand, at the India International Centre or the Nehru Memorial Library, his favourite haunts.

We will not hear his sharp observations on world affairs in unaccented English.We will miss the last link between the freedom struggle and Indian diplomacy, the last of those, who walked from a British prison to take on national responsibilities.

A.K. Damodaran (1921-2012)

We will miss a quintessential Malayali, who was as much at home in a mundu in his native village in Thripunithura as in Saville Row suits in Beijing, Moscow, Rome, Stockholm and New Delhi.

We will miss a diplomat, who was equally proficient in English and Malayalam literature and wrote in both the languages elegantly and profusely.

In Kerala terms, we have lost the kind 'Karavanar' (uncle), the head of the matriarchal 'tharawad' or homestead, to whom one could go for help and advice. The Indian Foreign Service has lost one of its 'Bhishma pitamahas.'

And yet, I shall not mourn his passing away. We ought to celebrate his productive and virtuous life in the service of the nation till the very end.

He lived a full life, with a sound body and mind till he completed ninety years. He made a deep impact on the making and implementation of Indian foreign policy from key capitals and New Delhi much beyond the normal time for retirement.His writings too helped policy makers in later years. He listened patiently to younger colleagues, absorbed the nuances in their thinking and applied the necessary correctives, where necessary.

Many generations of diplomats have testified in their tributes how much they owed him in their own growth as diplomats.For me, he was a legend long before I met him. By the time I reached Moscow in 1974, he had finished his tenure there as deputy chief of mission and had moved on to Rome as ambassador.

But the legacy he had left behind was huge. His name was on the lips of everyone, those who worked under him, the Soviet bureaucracy and the Indian community.His Kerala origin and his freedom fighter status had a special appeal, because Kerala was being remembered for having elected a Communist government to power for the first time in the world.

Of particular relevance was his contribution to the making of the Indo-Soviet Treaty of Friendship and Cooperation. Given India's commitment to nonalignment and its anxiety to remain equidistant from both the superpowers, the language of the treaty was nothing but revolutionary.To agree to language which suggested that an attack on one country would tantamount to an attack on the other would have been anathema even to Indira Gandhi however brave she was to break new ground to deal with the specific situation that arose in East Bengal.

Much soul searching and calculations must have gone into the final version and the vital interests of the country that determined the final version. Many of the top leaders and bureaucrats worked on the text, but by all accounts, it was AKD, who crossed the t's and dotted the i's to make it politically acceptable to the country.

The treaty did not face stiff opposition in the country because the context in which it was concluded and the immediate dangers that came on the horizon during the Bangladesh war.Our embassy in Moscow was very much like a battleground during the 1971 war. The Indian generals had given the impression that the war would end faster than it actually did and, with each passing day, the Soviets got more and more restless and anxious about the threats from the US and China.

They wanted the war to end and pressed the Indian leaders and generals to speed up matters. The top military leaders on both sides were travelling constantly to monitor the war. I heard in Moscow how AKD managed the alarm and the anxiety in the Kremlin over the war as it prolonged.

It was to his credit that the situation at the Moscow front was managed when the war raged on inside East Bengal.Our paths crossed several times in Delhi when I was in the foreign secretary's office and AKD headed the policy planning division. Each time it was an enlightening experience because his clarity of thinking and superior wisdom were of infinite value as I was learning the intricacies of high-level diplomacy.

I could see how with a touch here and there, he could turn a pedestrian draft into a perfect piece of art. His mastery over the language was such that he could introduce nuances into formulations of policy. But what fascinated me was his innate simplicity and humility.

Even after he left the government, he kept his interest in policy alive and shared his views in his writings and speeches. He may not have authored a memoir, but he has left his legacy for us to emulate.

His batch mate and friend, K Natwar Singh, summarised it when he said, 'Nobility and refinement of his character were something extraordinary. He was brilliant, erudite, wise and understanding. He was a matured and balanced individual.

The last time I saw AKD was last year in the Asianet studio in Delhi where I recorded a conversation with him for my weekly television programme. It was a fascinating conversation, in which we discussed several global issues.I was struck by his assertion at that time, despite several indications to the contrary, that India and China would work together in the future. He did not share my anxiety about a Chinese threat and he appeared to nurse the optimism that China's rise would not hurt India and the rest of the world.

Among the many legacies that AKD has left for the world are not only the many roles he played in Indian diplomacy and the many young minds he helped shape, but also his many writings.

Above all, he has bequeathed to the world of diplomacy an image of himself in Ramu Damodaran, who after a glorious innings in Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao's office, chose to go into the labyrinthine bureaucracy of the United Nations, which has kept him out of the diplomatic limelight.

If he had remained in the foreign service, he would have occupied one of the top positions in the government today. He told me that he regretted his decision only when he noticed the lovely ambassadorial homes occupied by his peers, but I suspect that he missed the role cut out for him in the Indian diplomatic hierarchy.

I often wondered what AKD thought about it, but I was sure that he would not force his views even on his own son.T P Sreenivasan is a former ambassador of India to the United Nations, Vienna , and a former Governor for India at the International Atomic Energy Agency, Vienna.

He is executive vice-chairman, Kerala State Higher Education Council; member, National Security Advisory Board; member, India-UK Roundtable; and director general, Kerala International Centre.

It is in our nature to love the puzzle. We are obsessed. The lot of us. We love puzzles. We love the challenge. We thrive on finding the answer. We hate disarray. It bothers us deep in our soul.

We love the accolades. We love to be seen as the digital white knight who fixed the server, the computer, the email, and anything else that life depends on.

We love it so much, we sometimes make horrible decisions. Sometimes, we work "FOR FREE."

We've all done it. A friend, a neighbor, a relative, a good client, a bad client, a pretty girl... Whoever it was, and for whatever reason, we all threw them a technological bone and fixed something for free. In rare instances, it can be a rewarding experience. Perhaps your buddy gave you a beer. Maybe someone said thank you. Maybe there was a smile on their face, and that was rewarding enough.

More likely, however, that five minute task you thought you were signing up for turned into 40 minutes, then an hour, then a commitment. Wow. You didn't see that coming.

There are 5 reasons you should ALWAYS hand out a bill.

1: You Break it You Bought it.

When you sit down to fix a problem that presented as a simple one you are creating a contract. Not a legal contract, but a social one. The computer owner is trusting their computer with you. It's their baby, and you're the doctor. So you sit down, and begin to fix a problem.

In the process, something else breaks. You fixed one thing, but something else goes awry. What's the best part? Neither you nor the user notice it is broken until a day later when they call you to blame you for breaking something else.

"I thought you were going to fix it." They complain.

This is the primary reason you charge money to fix something. You break it, you bought it. The user / owner will expect you to warranty your service even though THEY received all the value of your time, and you received nothing in exchange.

2: People don't respect things that are free.

I learned that quote from a man who runs a non-profit organization. Image that. A man who solicits donations for a living candidly told me "people don't respect things that are free." You know what? He's right.

Free advice. Free upgrade. Free entry. None are valued. Free advice is seldom wanted. Free upgrade was something you were going to get anyway. Free entry? The band playing tonight must not be any good.

People associate the value of service with the amount of money that is exchanged for it. How else do you think that lawyer can get away with charging $400 an hour? People naturally make the assumption that if it costs an arm and a leg, then it must be worth it.

So, if customers and friends will assume that the most expensive car is the best one, what will they assume of the free car? Do you want the heart surgeon who charges $500,000 per surgery or the one who works for beer to operate on your mother?

3: They will expect it forever.

In law, the concept of a precedent is vitally important. Judges and lawyers look to previous cases to decide what the interpretation of the law was because if a case was settled one way before, chances are, it will be settled that way again.

Gamblers playing craps look at the past behavior of the dice to, mistakenly, assume that the good luck will continue.

Users will figure if you fixed it once for free, you'll do it forever for free. There is no reason why they should respect the thousands of hours you have spent learning and researching the art of computer science. There is no reason that they should respect the certifications you hold. There is no reason that they should honor your abilities by paying your fees. Why? Because you did it for free. Once!

When they come back and you try to get fees, they will meet you with resistance in the form of guilt. "I thought we were friends" they cry. "You didn't charge me anything last time." They argue.

Setup the expectation that they are going to pay (or barter) from the onset. Demand the respect that you deserve. Make sure they understand you are a professional. After all, that is the difference between a professional and an amateur. Professionals get compensated for their skills.

4: The demands will only grow with time.

Give them an inch, and they will take you through three operating system upgrades, two virus infections, and a crashed hard drive. Once you've set the precedent and created the expectation that you are their knight in shining armor, they will begin to call you for everything. They will suck up your time and resources. They will not be grateful. They will involve you in 30 minute hypothetical conversations then disagree with your expertise.

5: It Weakens Your Backbone

Working for free is not only unprofitable, it weakens your constitution as a professional consultant. For many consultants, asking for money is difficult. They email out a silent invoice after the fact and hope they get paid. This practice can lead to unbalanced books, debt, and a going out of business sign. The simple fact is: if you don't ask for your money, you're not going to get paid. No one just hands out checks.

Setting up the expectation, especially when you fix a computer for the first time for a client, is vitally important in establishing boundaries that ensure you are paid in a timely fashion. Working for free, throwing out freebies, "comp"-ing your time hurts your ability to ask for the sale. It hurts your credibility because the client will assume that if you're not charging them for a given task, you didn't know what you were doing or you made mistakes.

It may give you butterflies, but ask for the money. Do it openly and notoriously. Your clients will take it as a sign of confidence.

Late Monday evening, when Ayesha Takia tweeted against Kingfisher Airlines, it was a case of an individual standing up for her sister, Natasha Takia. Seems Natasha had a tough time on her way back from Nepal to Mumbai via Delhi

However, when Siddharth Mallya reacted, albeit personally and sarcastically, the actress couldn't be accused of blowing her fuse. Needless to say, their respective tweets on the social medium saw a number of people write in support of her and even questioned his personal comments when she was merely pointing out the airline's fault.

"The worst airline, Kingfisher ¦This disgustingly behaved kingfisher staff called Vinay Podwal just tore my sister's boarding pass n misbehaved with her" were Ayesha's first tweets on her sister's predicament.

What started as a family's complaint against the airline got into personal fight when Sidharth Mallya reacted. "Been getting retweets about Ayesha Takia and KFA. Not too sure who she is, an actor of some sorts?

That was enough to cause Ayesha to thunder online, "I will rant Sidharth Mallya, what will you do? This is your way of dealing with hospitality business? Wow! Learn manners and respect." By then, Mallya was also getting a lot of flak from the public for his reaction to the episode and eventually backed off.

The Takia family is together in their fight against the airline. As Ayesha told Mid-Day, "We're definitely going to send a letter to the company and take them to court for the rude treatment meted out to my sister. If this is the way a common person travelling economy class is treated, then I will stand up against the airline. I'm thankful to the people who supported me on Twitter, and many of them said that they've gone through similar experiences."

However, declining to react to Siddhartha Mallya, Ayesha maintained, "I didn't start any personal attacks, so I don't want to comment on any one particular person. They way they treated my sister, a regular passenger travelling economy, is shocking. So I think taking the legal route is the right course of action. If anyone takes it personally, it's their problem."

Ayesha Takia has showed her displeasure towards Kingfisher Airlines for reportedly misbehaving with her little sister Natasha. Ayesha is super annoyed about the entire incident, where one of the airlines staffers tore Natasha’s boarding pass. But, the airline has categorically denied the accusation.

“The worst airline, kingfisher!!!shockingly baddddddddddd airport staff behavior at delhi airport with my sister. We r goin 2 take serious action against this and go 2 court with it, let the law handle it, so that this doesn’t happen 2 any girl again (sic), wrote a miffed Ayesha on Twitter.

“Is this how a girl alone at an airport gets treated by the staff of the airline she is flying? She is unwell and has a horrible backache, can't believe this happened 2 her rite now!!!!!!!!!!!! My heart is beating so fast with anger that a girl at an airport gets treated this way by airport staff! he is at the kingfisher counter (sic),” she added.

She further went on to say, “How can this happen!!!How dare this Vinay Podwal misbehave with a passenger and tare her boarding pass, it cud b any one of u!!think about it. Can't believe thisssss!!!I'm in mumbai n I wish I was there rite now 2! soooo angry!! They wasted three hours in sending me from counter to counter to get the required note for another ticket. Hi Friends,

Finally SENSEX has broken out of the year long Channel. Now I would like to revise my Bearish stance on Market and look for Bullish alternatives if any..

Well but as this rally is overstretched I would not jump into buy now. The RSI on most of Indices & Stocks showing negative divergence. So there has to be some sort of correction.

Well this doesn't mean one should take a shot call. All the early shorts(Bears) got fried on every Friday since last month. I always wait for confirmation. Though I have initiated short at 5285 would book loss and move with the Market.

At 5060 I called for early short and got stop out at 5130. And now at 5285 again called for short & will get stop out tomorrow with gap up opening expected.

But after gaining 500-600 points on each swing in NIFTY since last 6 months a 150-200 points loss is a healthy correction. :)

Its a give and take Business. I gave these 200 points to Market & Gained a Valuable Lesson. That an Early Trade without Confirmation would only lead to losses.

So till the time NIFTY doesn't break below the Upward Rising Channel I would not Initiate any short position.

Well since the year long Channel has been now broken upwards I may look for Bullish alternatives. But I'm in no hurry to buy..

As I'm an Elliot follower would simply look at the structure of the fall (i.e. whether a Corrective or an Impulsive) and decide whether to buy on dips.

Till then Stay with the Trend and be Disciplined..

Census 2011 is in progress. This is seventh census since independence. After independence, it was in 1951 when for the first time census was conducted which showed how many people from both the countries had migrated from one another as a result of partition. However, in context of the creation of Pakistan, Hindu population from Pakistan had come to India, and Muslim population from India had migrated to Pakistan.

Hence, we cannot say precisely how many Muslims had migrated from India to Pakistan. When the census was conducted for the second time in independent India in 1961, the process of reorganisation of states had been completed and the system of our governance was almost in control and the dimension of discussions regarding the census was also changed. In 1961 and later, whenever the statistics of the latest census were made public, the Hindu fundamentalist organisations triggered the issue of extreme rise in Muslim population, and it was highlighted that since Muslims don’t do family planning and there is a provision for a Muslim to have four wives, hence the growth rate is more than Hindus and people of other religions. This fear was also projected that if the growth rate of Muslims continue this way, then within years they can become majority community and the Hindus might become minorities. Interestingly for the last 50 years or so, this issue has been a weapon for the Hindu fundamentalist organisations. This should be clear that not only the majority community but also the minorities including Muslims are in great confusion regarding the population statistics. Lack of proper information and emotional analysis of every issue has been a weakness of the Muslim leadership. In this way issues get complicated instead of getting solved and we waste our time and energy in this kind of useless discussions. Since census is being conducted these days, and discussions on this issue have already been started, an attempt is being made to analyse the Muslim population in Karnataka so that we may assess the true situation concerning Muslim population when the statistics of the 2011 census are out.

The present geographical structure of Karnataka was formed on 1st November 1956 as a result of the reorganisation of states. Prior to that, Karnataka was divided into several parts. Muslims’ advent to the present Karnataka had begun very soon after the advent of Islam in Arabia. The connection of Muslim Arab businessmen with the coastal region of Kerala and Karnataka is very ancient. They established their colonies in the west coast of India. Ibn-e-Batuta, in his travelogue, written in 1342, has mentioned a Muslim state in Honnavar, and has revealed that even at that time separate institutions were established for girls’ education. The generations of Arab Muslims present in the Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada districts of south-west coastal Karnataka are Mapilla, Byari and Navayath. These people speak Malayalam, Konkani, Navayathi and Byari languages.

After the two centuries of establishment of Muslim colonies in South Karnataka and coastal Kerala, the advent of Muslims began in North India and it was in 13th century when Muslims came to north Karnataka, who later scattered across the state gradually. Today a majority of Muslims, who came from North India, speak Urdu language. Muslims progressed and strengthened the foundations of Islamic civilisation in Karnataka during the rule of Bahamanis and Bareed Shahees in Gulbarga and Bidar, and Adil Shahees and Asif Jahees of Hyderabad in Bijapur.

According to the available official record of Muslim population in Karnataka, in 1911, the percentage of Muslim population in Karnataka of that time was 8.64 percent, whereas according to the 1931 census it was 9.36 percent which went up to 10.05 percent in 1951. It is shown in records of 1961 census that the percentage of Muslim population in Karnataka was 9.87 percent. An analysis of Muslim population in contrast with the total population since 1961 till 2001 is as follows:

In 1961, there were only 19 districts in Karnataka, when Bidar was on top in terms of percentage of Muslim population which had 18.6 percent of Muslims, whereas Mandya was at the bottom of the table with 3.49 least percentage of Muslim population. It is worth mentioning that Bidar and Mandya maintained their status of large and least populated districts with Muslims from 1961 till 1991. Prior to the 2001 census, seven new districts were formed in Karnataka, as a result of which Dakshina Kannada (Mangalore) stood first in terms of Muslim population with 22.07 percent, whereas Mandya maintained its last place.

According to the census conducted in 2001, out of 27 districts, 17 districts had more than 10 percent of Muslim population and other 10 districts had less than 10 percent of Muslim population. In 12 districts of north Karnataka i.e. Belgaum and Gulbarga division, the percentage of Muslim population is 14.39, whereas in 15 districts of south Karnataka, the percentage is 10.15. As it is known that Bidar, Gulbarga, Raichur and Koppal districts which were earlier a part of Hyderabad state, have a different identity in terms of culture language and concentration of Muslim population. Muslims are 15 percent in Gulbarga revenue division and 14 percent in Belgaum division i.e. Mumbai-Karnataka region.

At the time of independence, a large part of the Muslim population from north India and Hyderabad state had migrated to Pakistan, and after independence, a large number of people from rural areas have been shifting to urban areas, and this process is in continuation even today. It is for this reason that Muslim population is concentrated in urban areas. According to the 2001 census, the total population of Karnataka was 52850562, in which 6463127 i.e. 12.23 percent are Muslims. Out of these 3815301 i.e. 59 percent of Muslim population leave in Urban areas, whereas 2647828 i.e. 41 percent of Muslims leave in rural areas. The ratio of women when compared to 1000 men is 957, and the literacy rate is 70 percent.

After independence, from 1951 to 2001, census has been conducted for six times. The percentage of Muslim population during these 50 years has risen from 9.87 percent to 12.23 percent. That means the growth rate of Muslim population is just 2.36 percent.

Istikhaarah – Do you know how

We get a lot of questions regarding Istikhaarah (prayer for guidance) and how to perform it. Seems like this practice is completely neglected until it’s time for choosing a marriage partner. And because many of us don’t practice this on a regular basis, we don’t really know how to perform it, nor what to expect.

There are some serious misconceptions with regards to Istikhaarah such as:
that others have to perform it for you
only the pious people can perform it
you must view or see a dream which is clear
that you cannot ask anyone for their opinion regarding a matter
and the list just keeps going on and on.

As always, due to our own ignorance we have made something so simple and easy a burden upon ourselves. Also this and many other duas can be found in a small book or even apps now for your phone from a dua book called Hisnul Muslim or Fortress of the Muslim. It’s for a very nominal price and very simple with instructions on how to perform these duas and when to perform them. I highly recommend it as it will probably be one of the best investments you will make.

As we will see from a very detailed explanation below about Salat al Istikhaarah that it is used for many matters and frequently by Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wasallam and his companions.

The description of Salaat al-Istikhaarah was reported by Jaabir ibn ‘Abd-Allaah al-Salami (may Allaah be pleased with him) who said:

“The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to teach his companions to make istikhaarah in all things, just as he used to teach them soorahs from the Qur’aan. He said: ‘If any one of you is concerned about a decision he has to make, then let him pray two rak’ahs of non-obligatory prayer, then say: Allaahumma inni astakheeruka bi ‘ilmika wa astaqdiruka bi qudratika wa as’aluka min fadlika, fa innaka taqdiru wa laa aqdir, wa ta’lamu wa laa a’lam, wa anta ‘allaam al-ghuyoob. Allaahumma fa in kunta ta’lamu haadha’l-amra (then the matter should be mentioned by name) khayran li fi ‘aajil amri wa aajilihi (or: fi deeni wa ma’aashi wa ‘aaqibati amri) faqdurhu li wa yassirhu li thumma baarik li fihi. Allaahumma wa in kunta ta’lamu annahu sharrun li fi deeni wa ma’aashi wa ‘aaqibati amri (or: fi ‘aajili amri wa aajilihi) fasrifni ‘anhu [wasrafhu ‘anni] waqdur li al-khayr haythu kaana thumma radini bihi (O Allaah, I seek Your guidance [in making a choice] by virtue of Your knowledge, and I seek ability by virtue of Your power, and I ask You of Your great bounty. You have power, I have none. And You know, I know not. You are the Knower of hidden things. O Allaah, if in Your knowledge, this matter (then it should be mentioned by name) is good for me both in this world and in the Hereafter (or: in my religion, my livelihood and my affairs), then ordain it for me, make it easy for me, and bless it for me. And if in Your knowledge it is bad for me and for my religion, my livelihood and my affairs (or: for me both in this world and the next), then turn me away from it, [and turn it away from me], and ordain for me the good wherever it may be and make me pleased with it.” – (Reported by al-Bukhaari, 6841; similar reports are also recorded by al-Tirmidhi, al-Nisaa’i, Abu Dawood, Ibn Maajah and Ahmad).

Ibn Hijr (may Allaah have mercy on him) said, commenting on this hadeeth:

Istikhaarah is a word which means asking Allaah to help one make a choice, meaning choosing the best of two things where one needs to choose one of them.

Concerning the phrase ‘The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) used to teach us to make istikhaarah in all things,’ Ibn Abi Jamrah said: ‘It is a general phrase which refers to something specific. With regard to matters that are waajib (obligatory) or mustahabb (liked or encouraged), there is no need for istikhaarah to decide whether to do them, and with regard to matters that are haraam (forbidden) or makrooh (disliked), there is no need for istikhaarah to decide whether to avoid them. The issue of istikhaarah is confined to matters that are mubaah (allowed), or in mustahabb matters when there is a decision to be made as to which one should be given priority.’ I say: it refers to both great and small matters, and probably an insignificant issue could form the groundwork for a big issue.

The phrase ‘If any one of you is concerned…’ appears in the version narrated by Ibn Mas’ood as: ‘if any one of you wants to do something…’

‘Let him pray two rak’ahs of non-obligatory prayer.’ This is mentioned to make it clear that it does not mean fajr prayer, for example. Al-Nawawi said in al-Adhkaar: He can pray istikaarah after two rak’ahs of regular sunnah prayer done at zuhr for example, or after two rak’ahs of any naafil prayers whether they are regularly performed or not… It seems to be the case that if he made the intention to pray istikhaarah at the same time as intending to pray that particular prayer, this is fine, but not if he did not have this intention.

Ibn Abi Jamrah said: The wisdom behind putting the salaat before the du’aa’ is that istikhaarah is intended to combine the goodness of this world with the goodness of the next. A person needs to knock at the door of the King (Allaah), and there is nothing more effective for this than prayer, because it contains glorification and praise of Allaah, and expresses one’s need for Him at all times.

The phrase ‘then let him say’ would seem to imply that the du’aa’ should be said after finishing the prayer, and the word thumma (then) probably means after reciting all the words of the salaat and before saying salaam.

The phrase ‘O Allaah, I seek Your guidance by virtue of Your knowledge’ is explaining ‘because You know best.’ Similarly, ‘by virtue of Your power’ most likely means ‘seeking Your help.’ ‘I seek ability’ (astaqdiruka) means ‘I ask You to give me the power or ability (qudrah) to do’ whatever is being asked for, or it probably means ‘I ask You to decree (tuqaddir) this for me.’ So it may mean making it easy.

‘I ask You of Your great bounty’ refers to the fact that Allaah gives out of His great generosity, but no one has the right to His blessings. This is the opinion of Ahl al-Sunnah.

‘You have power, I have none. And You know, I know not’ refers to the fact that power and knowledge belong to Allaah alone, and the slave has no share of them except what Allaah decrees for him.

‘O Allaah, if in Your knowledge this matter…’ According to one report, he should mention it by name. It is apparent from the context that he should state it, but it is probably sufficient to be thinking of the matter whilst making this du’aa’.

‘Then ordain it for me’ means ‘make it happen for me’ or it may mean ‘make it easy for me.’

‘Then turn it away from me, and turn me away from it’ means ‘so that my heart will no longer feel attached to it after it has been turned away.’

‘Make me pleased with it’ means ‘make me content with it, so that I will never regret asking for it or be sorry that it happened, because I do not know how it will turn out, even if at the time of asking I am pleased with it.’

The secret is that one’s heart should not be attached to the matter in question, because that will result in a person becoming restless. Being pleased with something means that one’s heart is content with the decree of Allaah.

Lucknow Muslims celebrate Milad-un Nabi with enthusiasm

Lucknow: Several functions were held on the eve of Eid Milad-un-Nabi here on Saturday. Preparations are also in full swing for the Madh-e Sahaba procession by Sunni Muslims on Sunday at Lucknow. The occasion is celebrated as birthday of Prophet Mohammad as per Islamic calender on 12th Rabi-ul-awwal.

State governor BL Joshi also extended his hearty greetings to the people of the state on the occasion of birthday of Prophet Mohammad celebrated as Eid-Milad-un-Nabi and wished everyone a happy and prosperous life. The governor in his greeting message has said that teachings of Prophet Mohammad are still relevant for humanity as a whole. His teachings mould the true values of the society, which should also be instrumental in bringing about social changes in a harmonious manner. Former Chief Minister and Samajwadi Party (SP) supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav also greeted the people on the occasion of Prophet's birthday.

Tile Wali Masjid on the bank of Gomti River decked up for Milad-un Nabi celebration

A function to celebrate the Prophet's birthday was held at Islamia College ground by Muslim Youth Convention on Saturday. Addressing the gathering, member, All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), Zafaryab Jilani stated that such functions highlight the religious diversity in the country. "These functions also help us in inculcating the teachings of Prophet Mohammad in our life. These functions also are a symbol of communal harmony as people from all walks of life attend them," said Jilani. Imam, Aishbagh Eidgah, Maulana Khalid Rasheed Farangi Mahli also highlighted the teachings of Prophet Mohammad.

On the occasion, the historical Tile Wali Mosque was specially decked up with lighting. Several shops and other stalls were set up as the occasion is celebrated in a grand manner at the mosque. Imam Tile Wali Masjid, Maulana Fazlur Rehman Waizi stated that special Milad will be held to celebrate Prophet's birthday.

Meanwhile preparations were being done on war footing for the procession of Madh-e Sahaba on Sunday. The procession which is attended by hundreds of anjumans originates from Jhandewala Park at 9 am and will pass through Maulviganj, Raqabganj, Nadan Mahal Road, Nakhas Crossing, Billauchpura, Haiderganj and will culminate at Aishbagh Eidgah. The procession is part of the tripartite agreement between Shia, Sunni and District Administration made on April 25, 1999. Special security arrangements are enforced for the peaceful passage of the procession. Anjumans with their flags participate in the procession.

Another procession, Juloos-e-Mohammadi will be taken out from Shahmina Dargah and will culminate at Jyotiba Phule Park in Chowk locality on Sunday. Trade with Discipline

The success that a trader achieves in the markets is directly correlated to one’s trading discipline or lack thereof. Trading discipline is 90 percent of the game. The formula is very simple: Trade with discipline and you will succeed; trade without discipline and you will fail.

Although my formal academic education consists of a bachelor’s degree in commerce from the University of Bombay (Now Mumbai), I never considered myself to be an extremely gifted student. I have no formal training in market technical analysis. I was

unable to even set up a Fibonacci study or Moving Average study on a charting package, let alone know how to trade with such data. I have no formal training in market fundamental analysis.

How, then, have I been able to succeed, day after day? The answer is simple: I trade with discipline, and I respect the market. When I’m wrong I get out immediately, and when I’m right, I don’t get too greedy. I’m content with small winners and at the same time I’m accepting small losers.

Review the following Rules of Trading. You must condition yourself to behave with discipline over and over again. You may read through the following rules every day before the trading session begins. It doesn’t take more than three minutes to read through them. Think of the exercise as praying — reminding you how to conduct yourself throughout the trading session.

1.THE MARKET PAYS YOU TO BE DISCIPLINED : Trading with discipline will put more money in your pocket and take less money out. The one constant truth concerning the markets is that discipline = increased profits.

2.BE DISCIPLINED EVERY DAY, IN EVERY TRADE, AND THE MARKET WILL REWARD YOU. BUT DON’T CLAIM TO BE DISCIPLINED IF YOU ARE NOT 100 PERCENT OF THE TIME : Being disciplined is of the utmost importance, but it’s not a sometimes thing, like claiming you quit a bad habit, such as smoking. If you claim to quit smoking but you sneak a cigarette every once in a while, then you clearly have not quit smoking. If you trade with discipline nine out of ten trades, then you can’t claim to be a disciplined trader. It is the one undisciplined trade that will really hurt your overall performance for the day. Discipline must be practiced on every trade.

When I state that “the market will reward you,” typically it is in recognizing less of a loss on a losing trade than if you were stubborn and held on too long to a bad trade. Thus, if I lose Rs. 200 on a trade, but I would have lost Rs. 1,000 if I had remained in that losing trade, I can claim that I “saved” myself Rs. 800 in additional losses by exiting the bad trade with haste.

3. ALWAYS LOWER YOUR TRADE SIZE WHEN YOU’RE TRADING POORLY : All good traders follow this rule. Why continue to lose on five lots per trade when you could save yourself a lot of money by lowering your trade size down to a one lot on your next trade? If I have two losing trades in a row, I always lower my trade size down to a one lot. If my next two trades are profitable, then I move my trade size back up to my original lot size.

4. NEVER TURN A WINNER INTO A LOSER : We have all violated this rule. However, it should be our goal to try harder not to violate it in the future. What we are really talking about here is the greed factor.

The market has rewarded you by moving in the direction of your position, however, you are not satisfied with a small winner. Thus you hold onto the trade in the hopes of a larger gain, only to watch the market turn and move against you. Of course, inevitably you now hesitate and the trade further deteriorates into a substantial loss.

There’s no need to be greedy. It’s only one trade. You’ll make many more trades throughout the session and many more throughout the next trading sessions. Opportunity exists in the market all of the time.

Remember: No one trade should make or break your performance for the day. Don’t be greedy.

5. YOUR BIGGEST LOSER CAN’T EXCEED YOUR BIGGEST WINNER : Keep a trade log of all your trades throughout the session. If, for example, you know that, so far, your biggest winner on the day is thirty Nifty points, then do not allow a losing trade to exceed those thirty points. If you do allow a loss to exceed your biggest gain then, effectively, what you have when you net out the biggest winner and biggest loss is a net loss on the two trades. Not good.

6. DEVELOP A METHODOLOGY AND STICK WITH IT. DON’T CHANGE METHODOLOGIES FROM DAY TO DAY : I suggest you to actually write down the specific market prerequisites (setups) that must take place in order for them to make a trade. I don’t necessarily care what the methodology is, but I want tou to make sure that you have a set of rules, market setups or price action that must appear in order for you to take the trade. You must have a game plan.

If you have a proven methodology but it doesn’t seem to be working in a given trading session, don’t go home that night and try to devise another one. If your methodology works more than half of the trading sessions, then stick with it

7. BE YOURSELF. DON’T TRY TO BE SOMEONE ELSE : In all of my years as a trader I never traded more than 200 lot on any individual trade (and I made a net loss of over 6 lac that day). Sure, I would love to be able to trade like colleagues, and friends who

were regularly trading 100 or 200 lots per trade. However, I didn’t possess the emotional or psychological skill set necessary to trade such a big size. That’s OK. I knew that my comfort zone is somewhere between 10 and 20 lots per trade. Typically, if I traded more than 20 lots, I would “butcher” the trade. Emotionally I could not handle that size. The trade would inevitably turn into a loser because I could not trade with the same talent level that I possessed with 10 lot.

Learn to accept your comfort zone as it relates to trade size. You are who you are.

8. YOU ALWAYS WANT TO BE ABLE TO COME BACK AND PLAY THE NEXT DAY : Never put yourself in the precarious position of losing more money than you can afford. The worst feeling in the world is wanting to trade and not being able to do so because the equity in your account is too low and your broker will not allow you to continue unless you add more funds in your account.

I suggest you to place daily downside limits on your performance. For example, your daily loss limit can never exceed Rs. 5000. Once you reach the Rs. 5000 loss limit, you must turn your PC off and call it a day. You can always come back tomorrow.

9. EARN THE RIGHT TO TRADE BIGGER : Too many new traders think that because they have Rs. 2,50,000 equity in their trading account that they somehow have the right to trade five or ten Nifty lots. This cannot be further from the truth. If you can’t trade one lot successfully, what makes you think that you have the right to trade 10 lots?

Ask your spouse to demand you to show them a trading profit over the course of ten consecutive trading days trading one lot only. When you have achieved a profitable ten-day period, in my eyes, you have earned the right to trade two lot for the next ten trading sessions.

Remember: if you are trading poorly with two lots you must lower your trade size down to a one lot.

10. GET OUT OF OF YOUR LOSERS : You are not a “loser” because you have a losing trade. You are, however, a loser if you do not get out of the losing trade once you recognize that the trade is no good. I bet, It will amaze you, how accurate your gut is as a market indicator. If, in your gut, you have the idea that the trade is no good then it’s probably no good. Time to exit.

Every trader has losing trades throughout the session. A typical trade day for me consists of 33 percent losing trades, 33 percent scratches and 33 percent winners. I exit my losers very quickly. They don’t cost me much. So, although I have either lost or

scratched over two-thirds of my trades for the day, I still go home a winner.

11. THE FIRST LOSS IS THE BEST LOSS : Once you come to the realization that your trade is no good it’s best to exit immediately. “It’s never a loser until you get out” and “Not to worry, it’ll come back” are often said tongue in cheek, by traders. Once the phrase is stated, it is an affirmation that the trader realizes that the trade is no good, it is not coming back and it is time to exit.

12. DON’T HOPE AND PRAY. IF YOU DO, YOU WILL LOSE : When I was a new and undisciplined trader, I can’t tell you how many times that I prayed to the “God.” My prayers were a plea to help me out of a less-than-pleasant trade position. I would pray for some sort of divine intervention that, by the way, never materialized. I soon realized that praying to the “God” or any other “futures god” was a wasted exercise. Just get out!

13. DON’T WORRY ABOUT NEWS. IT’S HISTORY : I have never understood why so many traders listen to or watch Financial TV Channels all day long. The “talking heads” on these programs know very little about market dynamics and market price action. Very few, if any, have ever even traded one lot in any exchange. Yet they claim to be experts on everything. They can't provide any utility to you. Treat it for what it really is... entertainment.

14. DON’T SPECULATE. IF YOU DO,YOU WILL LOSE : In all of the years that I have been a trader and associated with traders, I have never met a successful speculator. It is impossible to speculate and consistently get large winners. Don’t be a speculator. Be a trader. Short-term scalping of the markets is the answer. The probability of a winning day or week is greatly increased if you trade short term: small winners and even smaller losses.

15. LOVE TO LOSE MONEY : What I mean is to accept the fact that you are going to have losing trades throughout the trading session. Get out of your losers quickly. Love to get out of your losers quickly. It will save you a lot of trading capital and will make you a much better trader.

16. IF YOUR TRADE IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE IN A GIVEN TIME FRAME, IT’S TIME TO EXIT : This rule relates to the theory of capital flow. Trading capital pushes the market one way or another. An oversupply or imbalance of buy orders will push the market up. An oversupply of sell orders will push the market down.

When prices reached stagnation point (as typically happens many times throughout the trading session), the market and its participants are telling us that, at the present time, they are happy or satisfied with the prevailing rates.

You don’t want to be in the market at these times. The market is not going anywhere. It is a waste of time, capital and emotional energy. It’s much better to wait for the market to heat up a little and then place your trade.

17. NEVER TAKE A BIG LOSS. ONLY A BIG LOSS CAN HURT YOU : Big losses prevent you from having a winning day. They wipe out too many small winners that you have worked so hard to achieve. Big losses also “kill you” from a psychological and emotional standpoint. It takes a long time to get your confidence back after taking a big loss on a trade.

18. LEARN TO EXIT FROM YOUR WINNERS : The net effect of exiting out of your winners will be an increased average win per trade while keeping your losses to your pre-defined risk parameters.

You should never average out your losers, They say never catch a falling knife. If your trade size is more than one lot and your trade is a loser, you must exit the entire position. If your trade size is more than one lot and your trade is a winner, it is best to exit half of your position at your first price target.

If you trade with protective stop-loss orders, you should modify the order to reflect the change in trade size (remember you have exited half of your position) and raise or lower the SL price, to your original entry price. You now are essentially at a winning side. You can’t lose on the remaining position, and that’s obviously a fantastic position in which to put yourself.

19. DON’T OVER-ANALYZE. DON’T PROCRASTINATE. DON’T HESITATE. IF YOU DO,YOU WILL LOSE : The net result of all this procrastination and hesitation is the trader was correct in deducing market direction but his profit on the trade was zero. We don’t get paid in this business unless we put the trade on. Don’t overanalyze the trade. Place the trade and then manage it. If you’re wrong, get out. But you’ll never be right unless you are actually in the trade.

20. IT’S THE MARKET ITSELF THAT WIELDS THE ULTIMATE SCALE OF JUSTICE : The market moves wherever it wants to go. It does not care about you or me. It does not play favorites. It does not discriminate. It does not intentionally harm any one individual. The market is always right.

You must learn to respect the market. The market will mercilessly punish you if you do not play by the Rules. Learn to condition yourself to play by these Rules of Trading and you will be rewarded.

IBN HISHAM DID NOT MENTION THID INCIDENT in his book ,al tabari on the very first page mentions that all the blame goes to ttansmitters who transmitted,now the only case left is of ibn ishaq.there is a difference of opinion if the incident was realy present in his book.

Let us see who was ibn ishaq.

1.he was thrown out of medina for relating a false hadith from a women whom he never met.

5. Guillaume notices that Ibn Isḥāq frequently uses a number of expressions like HE alleged ,only gof knows if its true etc etc.

6. Ahmad ibn Hanbal,ra rejected his narrations on all matters related to fiqh

7.in Islamic jurisprudence he is categorized as mudallis that is, he never named his teacher...and the list goes on

ONLY FOR THE SAKE OF ARGUMENT let's actually say that this whole incident is true and actually happened. This in no way disproves the Prophethood of Muhammad (peace be upon him). It actually does nothing but convince even more that he truly was a Prophet from God! The funny thing is that if the Quran was truly authored by Satan as many critics claim then why on earth would Satan abrogate the 'satanic revelations' of Surah 53 and then expose himself? Misbah-ul-Haq chose to bat on a flat pitch, which seemed a sound decision at the time

England's batting has been so ineffably weak in this Test series that even the sight of a Pakistan side bundled out for 99 was not about to fill them with resolve. Where once they were steadfast now they are overwrought. All logic suggested they should have ended the opening day of the third Test in a position of authority but logic left this series long ago.

It is the first time that Test cricket has been played in winter in the UAE and the pitches have been enlivened from their usual moribund state as a result but not remotely to the extent that the scores suggest. Every day brings something more bizarre. This should not by any stretch of the imagination have been a 16-wicket day.

Pakistan avoided their lowest Test score against England thanks only to 45 from Asad Shafiq, the one batsman to pass muster as England's new-ball pair, Stuart Broad and James Anderson, made full use of encouraging conditions. Pakistan began the final Test imagining they could whitewash England in a Test series for the first time. It is quite something to be dismissed for fewer than 100 on a decent-enough surface and still be in the match.

An England innings has become something fantastical. The DRS has sapped their resolve. It was introduced to reduce umpiring mistakes, and it has achieved its purpose, but in this series at least, it has shifted the balance of the game fundamentally. Umpires in this series are giving most marginal calls to the bowler, too many marginal calls. Batsmen are confused about their technique and spinners are bowling straight and imagining themselves as superheroes. It will right itself in time; the authorities are not fond of three-day Tests.

This series has already produced more lbws than in any three-Test series in history - 35 and counting. There were eight umpiring reviews and the Australian Simon Taufel, who has mused about retirement more than once, had an uncomfortable day as he had several decisions overturned.

Almost unnoticed, Andrew Strauss reached the close of a bewildering day unbeaten on 41, an England captain labouring to add a major batting contribution to his undoubted leadership qualities. Overlook a flirt with a sweep or two and he stood alongside Shafiq and Kevin Pietersen as the most secure batsmen on an insecure day.

Memories of England's batting debacles in the first two Tests must have preyed on Alastair Cook's mind as he fell to the sort of hesitant jab against Umar Gul that Australia, in England's victorious Ashes series barely a year ago, must have dreamed of. Gul also had Trott lbw: a dodgy decision by the umpire, Steve Davis, which England failed to review.

Then came the curiosities. Kevin Pietersen looked in good trim but fell to left-arm spin once more, a marginal decision that might have been designed to taunt his pre-match assertion that his record against this type of bowler was "not a train crash". Ian Bell was out to Saeed Ajmal for the fourth series, straying out of his crease and stumped fortuitously by Adnan Akmal off a blur of pads and gloves - that is how his brother Kamran used to do it. Eoin Morgan, his reputation as a good player of spin now in tatters, was trapped on the back foot by a quicker, flatter one. And finally Matt Prior, desperate not to be struck on the pads, was bowled by one that turned.

Pakistan were no better. By drinks on the first morning, England had five Pakistan wickets; shortly after drinks came round again in the afternoon they had them all. This was far from a fast bowlers' feast but Broad, England's outstanding player of the series, and Anderson made full use of a little swing and some unexpected bounce.

Broad's new-ball return of 3 for 12 in six overs included two overturned decisions for Taufel as England successfully resorted to DRS. The dismissal of Mohammad Hafeez was the most controversial of the day.

England were searching for a lbw decision but there seemed to be little conclusive evidence to overturn Taufel's decision. Indeed those blessed with the eyes of a hawk and high-definition TVs insisted there was a slight mark on hot spot that should have reprieved Hafeez. Shavir Tarapore, the third umpire from India in his fourth Test, gave him out, causing Hafeez to slap his bat in unconcealed disgust.

In the seconds a fielding side has to decide on a review, the captain, Andrew Strauss, mentally dons a business suit, calls a meeting, studies a report, draws conclusions and lays out a systematic process. The sense is of clipboards, posh pens and PowerPoint presentations. Misbah tries to do the same for Pakistan but he is a bit short of reliable middle management.

In England in 2010, Pakistan collapsed for 72, 76 and 80, three batting disasters at Edgbaston, Lord's and Trent Bridge that count among their eight lowest Test scores in history. They no longer had to contend with a surly English summer but they did face the debilitating effect of a series already secured.

Their collapse began in the first over, Taufeeq Umar defeated by Anderson's inswinger. There were few demons in the ball from Broad that dismissed Azhar and Younis Khan's jab at a wide, rising ball, even allowing for the unexpected steepness of the bounce: another poor shot in a career nearing its end.

Misbah and Adnan, who should also have been run out by Morgan, both turned to DRS without success to try to stem the flow of wickets. Rehman's slog at Graeme Swann, in his solitary over, was the worst batting moment on a day replete with them. Shafiq was ninth out, trying to cut Panesar and getting struck on the pad in front of middle.

For Pakistan the morning had brought back bad memories of their first Test in the UAE. Against Australia in Sharjah ten years ago they were dismissed for 53 and 59 - their two lowest Test scores. Misbah, Taufeeq and Younis were all in the top six then. In some ways little has changed in Pakistan cricket. In other, more significant ways, everything has changed.

India finally broke through for their first win of the tour thanks to a dazzling display in the field. Ravindra Jadeja provided the spark - and did no harm to his chances in Saturday's IPL auction - with a pair of run-outs as Australia's batsmen were constricted by intense pressure from the fielders, and were dismissed in the 20th over for 131.

That was always going to be hard to defend and so it proved, India reaching the target with two balls to spare and eight wickets in hand to draw the series 1-1. They began the chase needing only a fraction above six an over and as a result spent much of their innings in cruise control, Gautam Gambhir able to amble along at less than a run a ball without ever letting the pressure build.

The only time a hint of worry might have entered the Indian camp was when five dot balls came towards the end of the chase, and George Bailey had all his fielders in the ring in the final over with one run required. But Gambhir found a gap at midwicket to strike a boundary off Clint McKay and finished on 56 from 60 balls, with MS Dhoni also unbeaten on 21No major celebrations from Gambhir and Dhoni, a shake of the hands and smiles as they walk off the MCG. India won this game pretty comfortably, and the victory was built by a superb fielding effort that began with Gambhir taking a good catch to dismiss Warner. Gambhir then held the chase together with a measured half-century. He'd be a favourite for Man of the Match but I'd give it to Ravindra Jadeja, for his excellent run-outs from point and an economical spell 3-0-16-1.

George Bailey: "It wasn't as close as it looked. Well short with the bat tonight. Four run-outs is the big difference. We were clearly out-fielded."

MS Dhoni gets a huge cheer as he walks up for the presentation. "The fielding was exceptional. Best fielding side, I've seen. It will be hard to beat this effort. We are a side that relies a lot on a good start, not about the runs, a good, calm start is what we look for. Overall it was a good effort by the bowlers and equally by the top three batsmen."

The Man of the Match is Ravindra Jadeja, for his fielding and spell of 3-0-16-1. He says he was trying to play his natural game, that's all. And a fine game it was.
