Once again, I would like to thank you all for coming out to my seminar on Wednesday - October 27, 2010. I agreed with most that the traffic played a factor in allowing the seminar from starting on time. I will keep that in mind and going forward, let's pick a time with less traffic.

The presentation from my wholesaler, Brian, of Renaissance Investments is definitely very informative and motivational. I hope you have something to take away, and what you have learned will benefit you down the road.

I want to take this opportunity to outline some of the key points on our Renaissance Optimal Income Portfolio.

The portfolio is managed with the "pension approach" and portfolio are diversified over 6 different asset classes. This will lower the short term volatility as you might have experienced in 2008 and 2009. The sub-advisors are RARE Infrastructure, Brandywine Global, and CIBC Global Asset Management.

The money managers employ mechanical decisions and not emotional decisions, which will reduce the volatility and downside risks. More or less like a pension fund, you will invest for a longer-term and rebalance your asset class systematically.

Distribution options that provide you with a peace of mind and flexibility by taking advantage of the 4%, T6 (6%), or T8 (8%) available to you. If you are not in need of income, you can always re-invest the distribution and enjoy the compounded return.

There is about 15% of the portfolio that is exposed to global infrastructure which will offer a natural hedge against the ravages of inflation.

Here is the link to the Renaissance Optimal Income Portfolio if you would like to learn more.

We had the Tech wreck of 2000. Then Income trusts were taken from us with no warning. Finally in 2008, the market fell to all time lows with the financial crisis and most investors lowing anywhere between 30% and 50% of their assets.

Thank you once again for those who made it out to my seminar at "The HOST" in Richmond Hill on Tuesday October 05, 2010. The weather, however, didn't help much since the rain was coming down hard throughout the day!

The HOST was the venue I have selected for my seminar this time and it fit right into my theme of "Emerging Market Fund". Personally, I have been to The HOST for lunch/ dinner for several occasions. I just love the spicy food! I was also thankful that a friend of mine at Excel Funds- Rishav, knows the owner of "The HOST" and was able to provide me with a private room for seminars on short notice. Lastly, I couldn't agreed more that the staff there were extremely friendly and accommodating throughout the event.

About the speaker.... I received a last minute notice from Excel that GAVIN GRAHAM will be the speaker for my event! This was a great surprise for me as I have seen Gavin on BNN and Market Call but NOT in person! On a side note, my buddy Brad - the original presenter would be just as good but having Gavin there was definitely a bonus.

Gavin's presentation touched on the potential growth in the emerging market countries over the next 5 years using statistical data and charting. Below, is one of the slides that I would like to share with you regards to the change in global GDP growth:
As some of you might know, Mr. O'Leary is the television host of Dragon's Den and Shark Tank. I am actually a fan of his shows and was quite anxious to meet Mr. O'Leary in person.

O'leary funds just launched the O'leary Hard Asset Income Fund, which is a new addition to their closed-end fund line-ups. O'Leary Funds investment philosophy are capital preservation, income, and capital appreciation. O'Leary Hard Asset Income Fund fit right around this category, with a targeted monthly distribution of 6.50% per annum and a diversified basket of bonds and stocks. The main theme of this fund is infrastructure based, namely - pipelines, real estate, utilities, telecom, and transportation. Infrastructure spending will be a huge theme in the next 2 decades with projection of $25-30 trillions of investment pumping into this sector (more on this topic).

The initial portfolio allocation will be 50% dividend paying securities, 40% corporate bonds, 10% convertible securities and preferred shares, and 0% private issuers. In terms of tax efficiency, you will expect to have around 50% of interest income. As such, it would be wise to held in a tax-sheltered environment like TFSA or RRSP.

For more information about this investment, please contact me.

Finally... I would like to share with you a picture I took with Mr. O'Leary. *smile*
Over the last 2 years, emerging markets such as China and India have recovered from the lowest point during the recession. Why is BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, and China) the most sought-after topic lately? Let's join us at "THE HOST" and learn from our special speaker of Excel Funds on this topic. It is about time to think outside the BOX.
