“The Poker Champ & The Designer”

During our pre-wedding consultations, one thing became very clear to me; we have to include poker somehow. Poker is more than a game to Heikki. The groomsmen are serious players – even poker champs. It was only fitting that we include this in the photo shoot.

For the shot above, I had Clarence holding my flash directly above the groom to create a more dramatic scene. I then employed the groomsmen, who were happy to stand of chairs and drop cards on the groom. I wanted to use my vid light, but had to resort to flash instead in order to freeze the falling cards. One of my favorite shots of the day.

Leedell’s dress has one of the coolest features I’ve seen in a wedding dress…POCKETS!!!!

I almost wish every wedding dress came with pockets. Totally my style; adding something casual to the most formal dress you’ll ever wear.

Congratulations Leedell & Heikki! I love how well we all worked together. I loved seeing how excited you both were every time you saw the shots on the back of the camera… Okay I’ll admit, I was a bit exited to see a few of them too! I just wish I was able to get the shoe shots before…well, you know;)

Big thanks to Clarence for assisting me all day. Couldn’t have done it without you.

Codi & Mac’s Engagement Session

Some shoots take a while to “get into the groove”… Not this one. We met up on Front Street, said our hellos, and immediately Codi and Mac demonstrated that they’re very comfortable with each other. The chemistry between them made for instant results. No warm up time needed; this couple was already hot;) In fact, everything seemed to work with us on this shoot (well, maybe not Union Station Security).

Estelle & Justin’s E Session

Okay…a little adventure is one thing, but nothing prepared me for the day that Estelle & Justin’s engagement session became. What started off as a sweltering hot summer day, ended as total downpour! We shot on Toronto Island, as this is the couple’s proposal site. In the end, we never did make it to the actual spot where Justin proposed. We did have a blast riding a bicycle for 3 (actually designed for 2!), splashing around in the lake, running with umbrellas, playing in the sand…I got hit by lightning… okay maybe not I slept like a big baby after this shoot. We were all soaked through & through by the time we boarded the ferry to head back. In the end, I would have loved to keep shooting with Estelle & Justin, but I made the executive decision to pack up the camera as it was getting a bit too much water and sand on it:(

Estelle & Justin, I can’t imagine having more fun while working! Thank you guys for being such awesome sports, and totally being down for whatever. Justin, I’m your guy if there’s ever an off-road tandem bicycle competition!

Natasha & Omar

Natasha and Omar had me covering events that spanned four days, from July 29th, to August 1st. I’ve kept the images in chronological order, starting with the Omar’s Pithi ceremony on the 29th, then Natasha’s Mendhi on the 30th. They had their Muslim marriage ceremony on July 30th, and then the full wedding & reception day on August 1st! By the end of the four days I felt like part of the family!

Just a few quick images from our brief shoot last week. We didn’t really have the chance to get too many family or creative shots during the actual engagement party, so we played “catch-up” afterwards;) These shots were taken at the old abandoned Kodak factory.
