Dinner Date in Tagaytay

Last week was a stressful week for me as I've been so busy so it's a great idea for us to go to Tagaytay to relax and unwind. We keep on coming back to Tagaytay because we love the weather and it didn't fail us when we arrived there. It was colder than we expected.

We had a merienda first at Tagaytay Econo Hotel's restaurant but it was already past 7 in the evening. LOL We were supposed to order balot and penoy but balot was not available that time so we just had penoy.

We also ordered chicharong bulaklak since we both love this as pulutan. It was just so-so. I like the one that we eat in Timog better than this.

While looking for a bar resto, we saw this bar that is very famous in Timog. We were surprised that they already have a branch here. According to the bouncer that we asked, they just opened last December 2011. In Timog, we were intrigued why this restaurant was always full of customers that we can't even find a parking space. So it's now our chance to discover what's with Tides.

The waiters are lively and sometimes they dance along with the music. Speaking of music, they have nice sounds here mostly RNB which teenagers and young adults would really enjoy listening to. Some groups would sing and dance along with the song everytime the resto will play a popular song. The service is good here. The crew people are nice and polite.

We ordered their Frozen Lime Margarita. I was a bit disappointed at first when the waiter said that they don't put Cuervo tequila for the Margarita. But when I tasted it I was surprised that it was really delicious. It's like I was just drinking a lime flavored shake. I can't barely taste the alcohol which is what I like with mix drinks. When I finished the whole glass, I really turned red which means that this is somehow strong.

We ordered their French Fries Overload (I forgot it's exact name). It has the same toppings with nachos. It really tasted like nachos. But it was really delicious. I enjoyed munching it while drinking my margarita. We wanted to order other food but we were still full that time. We really want to come back here the next time we visit Tagaytay. It was a little bit "bitin" for us 'coz we just stayed in Tagaytay in for a few hours.

Divisoria

Last Monday, my friend and I went to Divisoria to do some shopping. Divisoria is really one of my go to places when buying fashion clothes because they are cheap but still trendy. We spent the whole day looking around the 168 Mall for clothes and other stuffs that we might like. Good thing my friend brought a shopping bag at napuno ko siya. LOL...

I only spent around P1,700 for 14 items. That's a lot! 'Coz if I shop at the mall, I would've bought only few items. I bought some stuff for my work out, a pair of swim suit, some tops, 1 jeggins, 1 short, a polo and shirt for Paul, a dress and some accessories. I really wanted to go back next month if my budget permits. I still have a lot of stuffs to buy there like dresses and tops.

Taal, Batangas

When we went to Eagle Point Resort, we passed by one of the municipality of Batangas that really caught our attention because of the tourist attractions that we saw there which are the old houses and their old church. I feel like I'm in the Spanish era.

When we got here I didn't expect that I'll see a place like this in the Philippines. It reminded me of the brick road in Vigan, Ilocos Sur.

It was my first time in Taal, Batangas and I was really amazed with the houses I saw there. They were preserving the old houses.

I'm a huge fan of anything vintage and that includes old houses. It's great to know that there's a place in our country that preserves and restores these kind of houses.

Taal is an interesting place indeed. I felt like I went back to the Spanish era.

Their city hall. We stopped over here to buy some stuff like water and chips. There was also an old church here which we visited before we headed back to Manila.

Gregorio Agoncillo's heritage house. History was my favorite subject when I was a student that's why I got really excited about the historical stuff I've seen.

We visited this church and offered some prayers since it was my first time, I made a wish. My sister told me to make a wish everytime I make a first time visit to a church. This church was built in

We had our late lunch at Tagaytay. This is what I enjoy the most when going to Tagaytay, enjoying the beautiful view while eating.

Can't wait to go back to Tagaytay and Batangas again. Paul and I rarely go swimming and spend the night at the resort. Spending a whole day and a night at the resort as a wonderful way to escape from my busy and stressful life.

This is another late post.

Sorry this is very very long post.

Just a few weeks after our trip to Olongapo, this time we decided to go to Batangas. I am really a certified beach bum. I've been to beaches 4 times last 2011 and I hope I'll do the same this year. This time it was not a one day affair, we will spend a night there.

I just love clouds simply because they're just fun to look at and at the same they create different shapes and creatures like this one. I took this picture while we were at SLEX.

When we arrive at Tagaytay, the clouds became gloomy.

We ate our late lunch at Tagaytay in Army Navy. I had my favorite burritos and iced tea while Paul had mini tacos and beer (as usual). While we were eating, it rained but who cares we were both hungry that time.

I saw this castle while we're on our way to our destination. So cute, it's rare for me to see a castle in our country.

At first, we didn't have any idea on what resort we were going to in Batangas. We just brought a map. The map was very helpful for us 'coz we didn't get lost and of course by the help of the local people that we asked for directions. We decided to go to Mabini and just find a good resort when we get there. We passed by at Taal, Batangas but I will put in a another blog post since this one is already very long.

It was gettin' dark when we got to Mabini. It was now time to find a resort for us. It was really a joy ride for us.

We've seen different resorts before we got here at Eagle Point Resort. I'm not saying that this is the best resort here but it was already dark and we were both tired already. We stayed in a cabana. It was fine but there was no electric fan nor air condition. We were thankful that it wasn't that hot that time.

While we were eating our dinner, I heard a sound of geckos. It was my first time to hear that so I was entertained by their sound. It was so cute! The sound of the beach waves was very relaxing and since we were already tired, we slept very early. Too bad we were not able to go night swimming.

When we woke up, we were welcomed by the sound of the geckos and birds. I immediately opened our door to the balcony to see the view of the beach. We saw lots of boats that passed by.

Excited much! I already wore my swimsuit. We toured the area and had a photo op before eating our breakfast. ^_^

Finally after our mini tour and pictorial with the resort we got to eat our breakfast. It was a buffet breakfast and I think it was included in our fee. I have the habit of getting a little portion of the dish in a buffet so I can taste most of the food.

Afterwards, we went straight here wherein you can swim with the big fishes and baby sharks.

Lots of fishes in different types. This is about 9 feet deep so I was just on the stairs which was the only shallow part of the pool while I was taking pictures.

Baby sharks. It wasn't that easy to take pictures of underwater. I think I should buy my own waterproof camera so by next time, I'll be able to take nice photos.

I think this is the only most decent shot I got in the water. I really wanted to swim the fish but I can't go any deeper than 6 feet though I know how to swim. I'm just scared.

Then we went snorkeling for just about 30 minutes. We have to ride a boat and go to Sepok Island if we wanted to go swimming on the beach because there was no sand here, it was really rocky. Unfortunately, we didn't go there since it was already 11:00 am that time and we had to check out from our cabana at 2:00 pm so we just enjoyed their swimming pools. At least we snorkeled and see various sea creatures. We're already satisfied with that.

What I like about my shots of the sea and clouds is that the clouds seem to that's as if you can reach them.

All I can say is that it was 'bitin' since we where not able to go to Sepok Island and we were not able to snorkel that long. There's so much things to do here that one is not enough. I wish we could have stayed longer but we had to go to work the next day.

Olongapo

This is a long over due blog post already but I will still share it. Better than never. ^_^

We were supposed to be going to Subic last year for a swimming but we ended up going to Olongapo. Not a big deal for me since it was my first time to go there and I was curious about the place. There was nothing so special about the resort that we went to. I think I like the resort in Subic much better than here 'coz I was able to see some fishes on the shallow part of the beach. Yeah, those fishes enjoy swimming with the people. Anyways, Paul and I had still fun here because we were able to observe the activities of the locals.

It was a very windy day.

We noticed these people pulling a rope. They are fishermen so we approached them to check out their catch. We bought half a kilo of Torsillo. One guy from the group volunteered to cook it for us.

Since the fish is fresh, Paul requested a kilawin. The local people are very nice and they even bought the ingredients for us. So we just gave them a little amount for their service.

We also ordered grilled squid. Both of these foods are yummy! We had a late lunch already since we arrived at the place at past 12 noon.

The sunset was the best part! We really waited for this.

Before going home, we went to Vascos, I think this was already in Subic. They have a little museum about antique stuffs that were found under the sea. They also have a shop for scuba diving. What I like about this resto is that I see yachts while enjoying my margarita. We ate a little and drank. Paul loves beer and it's hard to argue with him about that.

I really had a lot of summer activities last year and I look forward to having it again this 2012.

Korean Food

Eversince I learned about this place, I kept on telling it to Paul since he loves Korean food a lot but we didn't have the time last December so it was just this week that we were able to take a visit. This was our venue when we had a reunion with my former co-teachers. I liked the place since it's small and cozy and I fell in love with their food. So I told Paul about it and he got curious.

It's authentic Korean food. The owner is Korean and the menu is really in korean characters. Their waitresses are friendly and will help you if you're not familiar with the food. We ordered samgyeopsal and kimchi jjigae.

Samgyeopsal (pork belly).

Others call it lettuce wrap. You will fill the lettuce with pork belly and any of the side dish in this picture. It's a little bit messy but fun. I enjoyed doing this. The samgyeopsal and side dish costs P400 ($10). A reasonable price that's good for two.

It's like a Korean veggie salad. It can be eaten as is or with the lettuce wrap. I think it's also a side dish. I love it's taste. I think it has onions springs and other leafy vegetables with chilli paste.

I forgot to ask the name of the restaurant. It was located beside the entrance of BF Homes, Quezon City. The name of the restaurant was in Korean so I didn't know how to read it.

Ilocano Specialty

I cooked this yesterday because I've been craving for a poqui-poqui, yes that's the name of the dish which is a common food from Ilocos. The name is not that really nice to hear but it tastes really delicious. This is very easy to prepare you just have to saute' the grilled eggplants with onions, tomatoes and beaten eggs. One thing that I really enjoy from blogging is that I get to earn from it. Unexpectedly, I didn't know that I can from my blog. All I knew is that I'm able to share my thoughts to my readers and meet other bloggers as well. Recently, I discovered another paid to blog site which I'm sure other bloggers would get interested of. Debut Party

I attended a debut party of my neighbor a week ago. I was so excited to go since I wasn't able to attend to my high school friends' debut party during our time and I didn't experience such thing because I had a very simple 18th birthday celebration. Well, I was just excited to wear a nice dress with my make up on since I rarely do this.

Me with my curls and no makeup. I just borrowed the curlers from my friend. I had a hard time rolling my hair in there.

With makeup. I hope it looks good on me. I put my makeup first before I removed my curlers so I wouldn't get distracted with my hair.

The venue. It was held at Great Eastern Hotel Manila. We arrived there early so I was able to take some shots of the place.

It's a little blurred. We had the chance to take a picture on the photo booth before the party started. There was a very long line when guests started to arrive until the party ended.

Of course, the beautiful and gorgeous debutante. She's got a very beautiful gown. This young girl is a certified fashionista but very practical in buying clothes and shoes.

After the celebration, we went straight to Timog for continuation of the party minus the debutante since she had already committed with her other friends but we still enjoyed it a lot. Di ko ka-close yung iba since minsan lang naman ito kaya carry na rin.

By the way, I really had a problem with what to wear so my friend advised me to just buy a dress in tiangge since I'll just wear it once. She also bought her dress there.

Not bad, right? My only problem was my tummy. I gained so much weight and I am really looking forward on getting back my old weight this year.

I only spent a little amount with my wardrobe compared to buying them in the mall. Here it is:

Earrings - I had it for 2 years now.
Bag - 200 (thrifted)

I only spent less than P1000 (about $23). Gosh! I was really surprised so I'm thinking of buying clothes in tiangge and come up with nice combinations and share it through my blog.

Tickets

Paul is thinking of buying an Evanescence ticket since he heard that they are coming here. I got excited and I hope he will really buy. We missed a lot of concerts last 2011 coz his promises of buying would never come true. I understand that he is very busy with work. I hope there would be rap artists who will go in our country this year. I will really buy a lil wayne tickets if that happens. cirque du soleil tickets is also a must seen. Too bad I missed the last year's show. I guess we should also try something new like the super cross tickets. Watching live concerts is a great escape from stress for just a night. Right? By the way, ticketamerica.com has tickets for cirque du soleil and lil wayne concert tickets and supercross motorcycle tickets.

El Madero Farm and Resort

This is another late post. Last summer, my BIL had a pool party in Batangas and my sister invited me to come. Since it's in Batangas again, I said yes because I thought we were going to the beach. But to my surprise when we got there, it was just swimming pool. But it didn't stop me from having fun.

Green is in! Green is everywhere and I love the ambiance. I saw a lot of mango trees there. I was really tempted to pick some of the fruits but I didn't do it. Nahihiya ako.

Reflection.

We went home before the sun went down but before going home we decided to stop by to any restaurant so we can eat dinner. We saw this cozy small restaurant and everyone agreed to eat there. We were glad that the food we ordered were all nice.

Their specialty pancit. It tasted so good.

This is Batangas so we should have a Bulalo on the table. =)

So there you go. Everyone was satisfied with the food and we're all ready to go home.

Welcoming 2012

I've been MIA for more than a week now. I've been doing some errands for my sister this week and I'm glad I'm back on my virtual world. So here I am posting my new year blog very late. I know I've been a procrastinator when it comes to posting on my blog last year so I hope this 2012 will be different. I really look forward on blogging more. ^_^

Our New Year's Eve was one of my memorable new year celebration because of the incident that had happened while welcoming the year 2012. But before I share that to you I just wanna share some memories I had.

We only prepared few dishes. Just like other family, it's also our tradition to put 12 round fruits on the table.

We drank wine with pulutan on the side. =)

I'm so thankful none of us including the neighborhood got hurt during the fireworks. Our supposedly finale' for the fireworks was an epic fail. The box fell on the ground facing us first then in different directions so the fireworks went to horizontal instead of its vertical direction so we had to run for our lives because the fireworks were everywhere. Good thing there was a car parked nearby and most us hid there. After that incident, all of us were laughing about it but it was really scary.

Merry Christmas

We had a very simple Christmas celebration this year and we only prepared few dishes since there were only four of us in the house. My sister wanted it to be solemn and private. This year has been a sad Christmas for our country because of the unexpected events that has happened especially the typhoon Sendong that hit Cagayan De Oro and Iligan so I think it's just right for us to have a simple celebration.

Gosh! Terno ang blouse ko sa curtains! Hahaha!

We had kebab with grilled veggies, adobong kambing, chopsuey, lechon paksiw and brownies for Noche Buena. We drank wine too. Though there were only four people in the house, I got really tired afterwards because I helped my sister in preparing the food and cleaning the house. I really had a long hours of sleep after that.

I was very happy with the gifts that I've received this Christmas. They will be very useful for me. ^_^

Paul gave me three gifts and I don't know why.

1. Volleyball. He knows that I'm so stuck with this sports so much.

2. Big drinking class. He also knows that I always and has to drink milk since I already have Osteopenia.

3. Perfume. I don't know why but he told me that he has no idea on what else to give me.

Of course my family also gave me gifts and I was really surprised with what they gave me.

1. Accessory organizer. I got this one from a friend when we had an exchange gift. Now I can put some of my accessories here.

2. Cash. My BIL and mom gave me money. My mom always do give me money during Christmas.

3. Blackberry Curve. This was really a big surprise for me 'coz I didn't expect that my sister will buy me a cellphone. She is very kuripot.

4. Birkenstock. It was also given to me by my sister. She bought this when she visited my mom in Germany. I love this slipper because it's very comfy and stylish.

I've posted this topic late since I've been busy attending celebrations and gatherings most of the time. Time flies so fast and 2012 is just around the corner. Looking forward for a better future for us and our country.

Family Get-together in Matabungkay, Batangas

This is another late post that I have kept months ago. Our family went to Matabungkay to enjoy our summer. We heard that there are bamboo rafts with huts that we can rent for the whole day there so we did a reservation through a referral. The raft was sailing the whole day at the beach so we brought everything we need in there. The raft has a small hut where we can take a little rest or if we want to change clothes. The scenery was great and the beach water was very clear.

This was not exactly our raft, I just want to show you how it looks like. Ours is bigger than those since there are more than 10 people in our raft. We also also had barbecues while our raft was sailing courtesy of the owner of the raft. They are really accommodating and friendly.

Cool! I saw a man selling ice cream on the beach. His box has a floater so it would just float on the water.

It was really a total relaxation for us since we all just swim and eat the whole day. It was a time wherein we had to forget stress and just enjoy what we're doing. I had fun looking over the different colors and types of fishes and corals. Manong, one of the owners of the raft guided me on the part where I can lots of fishes and corals. Of course I took some pictures of them but too bad my camera is not an underwater camera so I wasn't able to get nice shots. I guess I should buy one since I love going to the beach.

Anyways, I still managed to take some quite nice photos... just a little blurred though:

Reunion with my Former Co-teachers

I used to work as an ESL Teacher to Korean students before. This was my very first work and the kind of work that I really loved doing. I was able to learn a little something about Korean culture, language, etc. I'm a fanatic of Korean drama so I guess that's the reason why teaching worked for me. Sad to say, I had to quit the job to pursue my real profession which is nurse. There are times that I want to go back teaching but I also love being a nurse.

Finally, after almost 3 years I saw my co-teachers again. Some of them are new and just met during the get together. The new teachers are nice and friendly, they share their experience on work and some already resigned as I did. Those who are still working in our company shared a lot of stories at work, some issues and of course happy moments. Honestly, I can't relate to some of them but still it made me laugh.

We ate at a Korean restaurant just few walks away from the work place. The foods they ordered are really delicious. I love the chicken which is like Chicken Buffalo. I wasn't really familiar with the names of the dishes. I was late that time because I had problems with my tummy but I was thankful I was able to make it there.

Fiesta Somewhere in Cavite

This is a very very late post. Sorry I forgot where exactly in Cavite it was and I've even forgotten the name of their patron saint since this was months ago. It's my brother in law's officemate. My sister invited me to come with them and since it's fiesta, I agreed immediately. They prepared a lot of food but it was this oyster that we enjoyed eating.

It tasted good especially when we dipped it into pinakurat (a visayan vinegar). We ate about 2 to 3 small buckets of oysters. I think they got this near the beach since the beach was a few walks away. While eating oysters, we drank a bottle of wine and it was really awesome!

After eating, the owner of the house accompanied us to the beach since we all wanted to see it. While on our way to the beach, I took a picture around the area and some are weird signage.

I know my English is not perfect, too. But quite funny, ayt?

Another one, this resort is located just a little bit behind BIL's officemate's house. Why do have to go to Florida when Miami is just located in Cavite? Just kidding...

My sister and I both love taking pictures. So we took some pictures while we where on the beach. The beach wasn't that clear. It was dark. We didn't go swimming since we didn't bring extra clothes. We didn't have any idea that the beach was this near from their house.

From that day on, I started to appreciate eating oyster. I used to hate eating baked oysters but because of this experience, I start liking it and making it as one of my favorite foods. I even tried the Rockefeller in Oyster Boy and it was really yummy.

Twin Eggplant

I heard a noise outside our house so I tried to peep on our window to check it out and to my surprise, I saw our neighbor harvesting the fruits of our mango tree! If I'm not mistaken, they were able to get a bunch of mango fruits about more or less 2 big plastic bags. That's a lot! It's not that I don't want to give them but they should have asked permission from the owner first. It's a sign of disrespect to neighbor.

Our neighbor together with her panungkit! So rude! She just kept on harvesting the fruits without our permission. Actually, her whole family are harvesting. What a great way to spend time with the family.

So after a couple of months, we decided to cut the tree down to avoid many issues. I will really miss our mango tree especially now that it's supposed to start bearing flowers. No more fresh mango tree for me. =(

First Time at Ocean Adventure

This is actually a late post. We were supposed to go swimming in Subic that time but my sister had changed her mind when we reached Subic when she saw the 'To Ocean Adventure Sign.' No one objected since we were all first timers. We arrived there at almost 12:00 noon so we hurriedly took our lunch there since the second set of shows will start by 1:00 pm.

Just wanna share this to you just in case you wanna know the entrance fee.

This is my favorite. This creature is huge. I forgot what kind of creature he is but he is not a dolphin. He was trying to imitate the shark and he looks so cute there.

I was I could be a dolphin trainer too so I can do the same. Kakainggit... =)

Next time, my camera will always be ready 'coz I bought a spare battery for it. It was an unexpected tour. We all thought that we were just go swimming in Subic but sometimes the unplanned activities will be more fun and enjoyable.

Hoping for the Best

The day has ended and so my IELTS exam. I don't know if I should be happy that it's already over or get depressed while waiting for the result. As I have said before, this is my fourth time taking this exam and it's no joke at all 'coz I've been spending a lot of money for this and been wasting time because I wasn't able to reach the cap for this year just because I didn't meet the required score. Damn that .50! That's all that missing in my score in my Reading Test when I first took the exam and I should have submitted my documents to the embassy already. Well, everything happens for a reason. I did my very best this time and I was a bit confident with my answers though I don't want to make sure that I will meet the scores. That's how bad I want to migrate to Canada 'coz the system in hiring nurses here in the Philippines is bullsh*t especially when you apply to government hospitals. It's a backer/kakilala/kamag-anak system. At first, I didn't want to believe it but now I've realized that it's the truth. If you don't have those I've mentioned then you have to wait for a long time or better yet, don't wait anymore and just apply as call center agent, medical representative, etc.

Well, enough of those sentiments, I know God is with me and He has better plans for me pero sana bigyan Niya ko ng chance to migrate ^_^.

After the exam, Paul picked me up and we had lunch together in a small Thai restaurant somewhere in Pasig.

I ordered the Thai iced tea. It tastes like milk tea. Not bad.

The lunch wasn't that bad maybe I just expected a lot but Paul and I were still able to finish the food. Afterwards, we went home 'coz I'm a bit tired already.

Wish me luck sisses, I hope this will be my last IELTS exam.

That's the Power of Blogging

I blogged about my rants about our former housemaid just this year and to my surprise, she read about it. She got really mad at me and she confronted our Aunt in the province regarding this matter. According to my Auntie, our former maid was freakin' mad on what I did to her. She cannot contact me anymore since she no longer have my contact number. Sumugod pa daw talaga sa house ng Aunt ko well who would expect that she wouldn't behave that way.

Because of what she did, it gave me a good reason not to delete my blog post about her nor even her picture. She deserves it. In the first place, she should've been ready for the consequences that might happen the moment she did that nasty thing to us. Anu ba naman ang magpaalam ng maayos kung ayaw na pala niya sa amin. Right? Now, you reap what you sow. Everything that I've written are all true. No more no less so she doesn't have the right to get mad at me nor even to my Aunt (she's the one who referred the maid to us). She even told my Aunt na quits na daw kami sa debts niya because of what I did to her. Hello! We already expected that she will never pay her debt. Sorry, I have already blogged about you.

I have already forgiven her. Besides, it's already a past. We have to move on regarding this matter. That's the consequence of what she did so she should accept it and change her wrongdoings. I blogged it because I want her to know my feelings about it and to teach her a lesson as well. At least because of my blog she was able to know it. I hope she learns her lesson well.

Gourmet's Cafe at Tagaytay

Oftentimes, before we reach the junction in Tagaytay, we drop by at this restaurant first to have a taste of their salad. They offer organic dishes fresh from their farm so I guess that's one of the reason why their salad is delicious. I really want to visit their farm since the entrance is free if you're a customer but we are always late. The farm closes to pubic at 3:00 p.m. and we always didn't make it everytime we go there. I missed this place so much because we barely visit it this year. We last visited the resto last April and they have just expanded.

Off course, I ordered salad. They offer buffet style but what I don't like about it is that you are not allowed to go back to the salad bar and the plate was (I think) just medium in size. So I tried to fill the plate with lettuce and other ingredients as much as I can.

I love their lemonade!

Paul ordered his favorite red beet salad. He always order this everytime we eat there.

This is their new restaurant. Iba pa yung nasa taas which they now call the cafe where we always used to eat and this one is now the restaurant.

Joy ride! I wish I could take a look at their farm when we get back.

I never tried the other foods on their menu like the burgers and pizza. They look delicious! I really love salad especially lettuce that's why we were never able to order other variants.
