Juri Ueno(上野樹里) Fulfilling Her Mom's Dying Wish To Become A Sucessful Actress

2014-05-29T03:00:00.000-07:00

TBS drama series "アリスの棘(Alice no Toge)" (Translated to: Alice’s Thorn) has a respectable audience rating of 14.2 so far. The show features the talented actress Juri Ueno(上野樹里) (27), who is starring in her first drama series in over 3 years. The heroine is a rookie doctor who lost her father at the age of 14. The story revolves around her seeking revenge and exposing the people who were responsible for her father's death. In fact, Ueno has something in common with the character she plays in the drama series. She too lost her beloved mother at the age of 14.

Ueno's hometown is in Kakogawa, Hyogo Prefecture. She grew up as the youngest of three sisters. After his father's factory failed, the family had to to let go of the big house they were living in. Right before she was cast in her first CM when she was in her 2nd year of junior high, her mom suddenly passed away with an unidentified illness. She was 45 years young.

"I've heard about her mom getting sick but she passed away soon afterward. I remember the day of the wake was very cold. The youngest child Juri-chan was also in attendance, the 3 sisters were very stouthearted..."
-Local Resident

Saori Ueno(上野早織) (33), Mana Ueno(上野まな) (31), Juri Ueno(上野樹里) (27)

In an interview on the show "NEWS ZERO" in 2009, "I met and talked with my agency's president in Kobe right before my mom's condition was deteriorating and losing consciousness. She was on her deathbed but she was smiling with tears in her eyes," Ueno said. Despite her mom's severe condition, she shed tears of joy upon knowing that her daughter would be in show business.

Ueno's grandmother from her dad's side is currently living several blocks away from the big house where the family used to live. She would think back on the time when her mom was still alive whenever she passes by.

After Ueno's mom passed away, she looked forward to the day when she could finally complete compulsory education by graduating from junior high. "I wanted to be able to support my life with my own two hands. I wanted to live on my own power," said Juri. The day after she graduated from junior high, she went to Tokyo alone.

Her mother's words always held dear to her heart. In an interview earlier, "When my mother was still alive, I remember she said she would wish to see me on television if I liked acting," she revealed. In order to fulfill her mother's dying wish, Ueno tried desperately to walk on the path to become an actress.

"She was simply put into a situation where she must endure all the pain alone and she has hung in there so far. She may have come from a disadvantaged environment but you could also say that it was the environment that gave birth to her talent in acting. The adversity of overcoming the death of her mother seems to have made her mentally tough."

winnie Releasing New Single "Crash and Burn" For The First Time In Over Two And A Half Year

2014-05-24T07:08:00.002-07:00

It has been determined that rock band winnie will be releaesing a new single "Crash and Burn" on July 16th, 2014. The upcoming release will be the band's first release in over two and a half year.

As the title of the song "Crash and Burn" suggests, the song is filled with great rush of blazing feeling that will make you feel burned out with its high speed rock and roll. The twin vocals of iori and okuji is still well and alive after more than 2 years.

The coupling track "after morning glance" has a reminiscent of Swedish pop with its gentle and soothing sound that makes a person feel relaxed and comfortable. There is a strong contrast between the two songs on the single. It seems winnie is going back to its root for this new single. The new artist photo reveals iori is mimicking Randy Rhoads with her dynamic pose and the polka dot guitar.

This upcoming new single will be very difficult to obtain since it will be released in limited quantity. Please pre-order to reserve for a copy as soon as possible. In addition, the single release tour for "Crash and Burn" has already been determined to be in Tokyo, Nagoya, and Osaka.

Yuko Oshima(大島優子) Purchasing AKB48 CD For The First Time: I Will Vote Too

2014-05-22T04:44:00.000-07:00

AKB48's Yuko Oshima(大島優子) updated her "Google+" account on May 22nd, 2014. She unveiled that she has purchased AKB48's CD for the first time.

Oshima visited the Tower Records in Shibuya contemplating on which edition of AKB48's latest single "Labrador Retriever(ラブラドール・レトリバー)" to buy. "Hmm gee... I wonder which one should I get" she said. She asked the clerk, "Which edition would contain the general election ballot?" The clerk replied back that "All" of them have it. She realized it was a bit silly for her to have asked that question.

Oshima brought the Limited Edition Type K and received a picture as bonus for her purchase. "I'll vote for my favorite member too(￣▽￣)" she said. However, she did not reveal who she voted for. Fans are all curious as to "who did she vote?" or "who is her favorite member?"
