Christmas List 2007 So for this episode we decided to come up with our Japancast Christmas List 2007. For all your family members who always ask you "what do you want for Christmas" and you never can come up with anything on the spot - this list is for you. First on the list would be Japanese study materials, and for me the best series you can buy is the Pimsleur Comprehensive series: Japanese I - 3rd Ed.: Learn to Speak and Understand Japanese with Pimsleur Language Programs (Comprehensive) Japanese II - 2nd Ed.: Learn to Speak and Understand Japanese with Pimsleur Language Programs (Comprehensive) Japanese III - 2nd Ed.: Learn to Speak and Understand Japanese with Pimsleur Language Programs (Pimsleur Language Program) Yes, Pimsleur is very expensive. But I guarantee if you follow their entire program, you will be well on your way to being fluent in Japanese. Next on the list is generally referred to as the Henshall book. This is an excellent place to start learning kanji. Obviously before you move to kanji, you want to be able to read and write hiragana and katakana - but since Japancast has already done free lessons in how to read and write all of the kana, it seems like a waste of money to buy kana books. Henshall's book, therefore is a good place to start once you've mastered the kana: Guide to Re

The woman he interviews doesn't talk specifically about Japanese Buddhism, but she touches on it as well as Tibetan Buddhism as well. It's about an hour long and I thought it was very interesting. I found this on conbinibento.com "Trouble started when Kawahara developed a grudge against her neighbor in 1989 after the older woman’s family moved in but did not come over to greet her, as is often the custom in Japan. A light that was reportedly too bright, a car that was parked the wrong way, and other incidents Kawahara perceived as slights added fuel to the feud over the years, apparently driving Kawahara over the edge and firmly into the realm of battydom." Today we have a special bonus video podcast for you. I started watching “Densha Otoko” recently. When Hitomi saw the opening credits she said “Yep… those are typical Japanese otaku.” So I thought it would be fun to share the opening credit sequence with everyone.

Ok, I admit it. I’m a big Digg Nation fan. So after their trip to Japan I asked Hitomi to help me come up with a Japanese lesson that would have been more helpful to the Digg guys.

This lesson is probably rated PG, since we talk about beer. Other than that, it’s totally kid and work safe.
