Artist statement

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Sat, 08 Mar 2008 15:21:00 +0000

Well, For some reason blogger is not posting off of my home computer so I am typing to you today from my roommates computer which is actually a little funny feeling. I'll just copy/paste you what wouldn't work before so you can see it:

I am supposed to talk about my artist statement in blog blog which basically is the state of mind I go for when I want to work on art. For myself it can really just be as simple as something that I think will be interesting. I am always open to change in any project I work on so nothing I do is ever set in stone for me. So many of my projects have been changed at the last minute and those have been my favorites by far, purely because I am flying by the seat of my pants and following only what I feel, which I think is how real art should work.

Music

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Thu, 06 Mar 2008 04:58:00 +0000

Here is some more music for you: Grizzly Bear, a band from brooklyn, not super new and a little different, indie rock band but I love em. They have an acapella version of a song that is pretty cool to hear, I'm looking forward to what comes of them.

Screw Philosophy

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Thu, 06 Mar 2008 04:45:00 +0000

So I was taking a philosophy class this quarter and it sucked entirely and I pretty much hated it. I will tell anyone I can to avoid the class with any means necessary because it was one of the worst classes I have taken. The professor was never clear about any due dates for the class and even left a few assignments off of the sylabus. We also seemed to never go over any content that was for the class nor have assignments on conent until the final I took today, needless to say, it sucked.

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Mon, 03 Mar 2008 17:18:00 +0000

So today I have officially stepped into the realm of evil, the realm that is WoW, or world of warcraft for those of you who aren't into that sort of thing. I was really bored sitting at home and not being at the tournament. I have not figured out if this will be a good thing or not because I usually get really into games until I beat them, and well, there is no beating this game. I will follow up on this later.

3/1/2008

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Mon, 03 Mar 2008 16:55:00 +0000

There was an ultimate Frisbee tourney this weekend, however because of a combination of class and weather being crappy I have decided not to go. I will be lazy and sit here at my house working on homework and sketches for my class. None of my sketches are anything I would be even slightly proud to put online since I pretty much hate most of my work until it actually gets to it's finished state.

Blogger/human error

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Mon, 03 Mar 2008 16:52:00 +0000

I just realized that neither of my posts for the weekend got posted, they were only saved as drafts so I will post them in the proceeding posts so I apologize for 3 posts in one day that seem to be unrelated.

Blue Glassy Background

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Fri, 29 Feb 2008 08:31:00 +0000

Something else I was messing around with, here is a glassy blue swirly black hole.

Well, it's 3:00am, so here's a band for you:

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Fri, 29 Feb 2008 08:24:00 +0000

Broken Social Scene

I just started listening to this band not too long ago, so I know very little about them, for all I know they could have been around for 20 years but I digress, to the music:

some music videos:

Broken Social Scene - 7/4 Shoreline

Broken Social Scene - Cause=Time

There videos seem very strange to me right now, but I love their music.

New direction

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Mon, 25 Feb 2008 15:24:00 +0000

Well, I am going to keep posting in here, however, I have created a new blog that I am going to use to follow my thoughts and mindset on my road to recovery after being injured.

Well

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Mon, 18 Feb 2008 16:23:00 +0000

So I haven't posted in awhile, partially due to sickness and now injury, but mostly because I have been working on a video entry. I have been having troubles with the camera so I may have to cave in and use the schools video cameras and their terribly lending policies.

Amazing Paper Art

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Wed, 06 Feb 2008 17:09:00 +0000

I stumbled upon this site, Peter Callesen
, and could not ignore the amazing works he has on his page. The pieces are really intricate and well thought out, I must say this is one of the most intriguing group of work I have ever seen. Here are some examples from his site(www.petercallesen.com):

Well

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Wed, 06 Feb 2008 16:35:00 +0000

I am successfully sick for the 5th day in a row, which is becoming exceedingly annoying. I am getting better which is a good sign, but it is impeding my ability to not suck at ultimate. On top of that I have a fair amount of work to get done for my classes so this week is sucking big time.

Sick of it

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Mon, 04 Feb 2008 16:36:00 +0000

Well, by some miracle, or lack there of I should say, I have successfully gotten sick three times this quarter, all of which have thoroughly burden my working/school/working out. I have gotten very little time to work on any sketches for my class, or my paper, or this blog actually. I really need to kick it in here, or I'll be screwed come end of the month. Still working on some design issues I am having here as well so hopefully I can get this all sorted out.

One final post before I head off to class

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Wed, 30 Jan 2008 17:26:00 +0000

Just wanted to put this band out there, I have been listening to them for quite some time now and don't think too many people listen to them, but what do I know. Once I get some more time I would love to review some more local bands I just haven't had the time to go to any concerts recently. I would say there sound isn't for everyone but I enjoy them a lot. They have a lot of playful songs, and randge from lively to mellow. The band by the way is, Menomena, who are based out of Portland, Oregon.

Some of My favorite songs, I couldn't find good quality examples out of a few so I omitted them.

Busy week and a piece of mine

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Wed, 30 Jan 2008 17:24:00 +0000

I have been really busy lately, so I haven't been able to post any work of my own, but hopefully that will change soon. I don't have many works but we'll see what I can do. The image below is something I did for a final in one of my classes, the image actually sat on an end table that match the grain exactly. This view is kind of deceiving because the image is 8x10 on a large end table so he looks like a small man coming out of the wood. If I can find a picture of my piece when it was up I'll gladly post it.

Plan

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Wed, 30 Jan 2008 16:38:00 +0000

Upon looking at other blogs I have determined that I want to enjoy my blogging experience more than anything. I don't think I want to turn this into a money making opportunity but I am still keeping an opened mind. I want my blog to be an eclectic grouping of things in my life and things I find on the Internet. I want my blog to stay on the humorous side of things with it since I feel like it will get me more readers. I had no put as much thought about this before class since I was not expecting to have to write blogs but I am intrigued by the subject much more now. I am also thinking of talking about my experience in trying to learn about blogging and editing my template so it can act as a how to for others.

Jerseys for future reference

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Mon, 28 Jan 2008 16:23:00 +0000

Well I am working on a sort of simple design depending on how it turns out for jerseys for my summer club team. I am hand drawing most of the designs for now, just sketching what I can then I will translate those into crisper images on the computer. I am trying to incorporate our old design into the new one with the theme of heroes and villains which is turning out well. I will post the designs later once I have them finished and may post some partial sketches as they get finished.

A new day has dawned

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Thu, 24 Jan 2008 14:16:00 +0000

Well, last night I went to a concert with Louis XIV, Hot Hot Heat, and Editors, which was pretty darn good. I had a really good time and the editors were much much better than I saw coming and of course Hot Hot heat was pretty good. Sadly I couldn't get there in time to see Louis XIV play but from what I heard they rocked out. Outside of those bands, I am going to bring a new band to the table, I have known this one for awhile but not a lot of people I know have heard of them, if any so here we go.

A little over half a year ago I came across a band called The Sunshine underground, who are kind of Brit popish. I have a little weakness in me for bands of this genre (ie. Arctic Monkeys and Hard-Fi) so I had no problem getting into them. They have a lot of energy to their music and a great singer, whose voice always surprises me when I hear it. Apparently they have been getting some play on mtv according to one site but I hope not.

Another amazing band!

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Wed, 23 Jan 2008 17:53:00 +0000

I was looking through someone else's blog today and realized I haven't talked about pinback et. I hope they are well known to you all but if not this band is amazing. Though they are said to sound like Broken Social Scene and modest mouse according to some sights, there sound truly is there own. They have a soft gentle feel to most of their music but can still manage to get your feet tapping with most of their songs.
Somehow people still don't know about this band, but you're missing out if you don't, here are some links and videos of their work:

I am Legend

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Wed, 23 Jan 2008 16:48:00 +0000

So I was recently able to watch the new Will Smith movie, I Am Legend, in which he is the sole survivor of a human created virus in New York. I must say I found the movie to be really good and suspenseful, the portrayal of Neville(Smith) as a loner in the city was very intriguing, especially the ways he keeps himself sane.

Woot?

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Wed, 23 Jan 2008 16:44:00 +0000

So about a month ago my roommates introduced me to an amazing site, called woot.com which boasts the motto, "A deal a day." To tell you the truth, they can't be anymore right, they consistently have new deals everyday. Some of their objects are refurbished electronics, but go to as inventive as a bag of stuff, they don't tell you what you get, you just pay your money and receive a bag of stuff in the mail.

However, my favorite part of this site is one of there three side sites which are: shirt.woot, wine.woot, and sellout.woot. My favorite of these has to easily be shirt.woot , because you can be original shirts only found on shirt.woot for $10 and free shipping, it's hard to beat a deal like that on a cool shirt.

Something New

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Wed, 16 Jan 2008 16:36:00 +0000

Today is pretty much starting off completely tiring because of practice from 11:00 to around 1:00. On my walk here I realized just how much I like this band I have found a few weeks ago. There name is The National, they are a band that hails from Cincinnati, Ohio, and are an amazing indie band. I have heard them described as sounding a little like she wants revenge, but they are much more upbeat and smooth.

Blog Statement

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Tue, 15 Jan 2008 15:33:00 +0000

I haven't really decided how far I will go with this blog but have been thinking of what all I wanted to do and I think I will soon be posting some random photoshopping I have done. I have a bunch of random backgrounds and projects I had worked on that I will most likely be posting. I have also been thinking of going over some easy photoshop tricks.

This is random but as I sit here and type, I can't help but be amazed that in this age of technology, my spell check continues to tell me photoshop is not a word which I find to be fairly hilarious.

The Begining

noreply@blogger.com (Jared) — Tue, 15 Jan 2008 15:33:00 +0000

Well, I guess I should start somewhere but I don't really know where to begin. I am trying to alter my blog templates but am having a very hard time getting the images to fit properly. I have been trying to go through guides in order fix this but am still having a hard time.
