JAJAH now supports calling from you Blackberry. In order to make JAJAH calls via your BlackBerry, you need to download the JAJAH Mobile for BlackBerry application. the application supports BlackBerry software version 4.3 and above.

The main advantage of using the application over the JAJAH web site is that the application can access your address book and call directly from your contacts and call log making it very easy to place a cheap JAJAH call.

To Install JAJAH Mobile for BlackBerry OTA, Open your BlackBerry browser and go to http://tiny.cc/jajahbb. the application will automatically be downloaded and installed on your BlackBerry.

How does it work:

1- Select the destination number with the International area code.

The destination number can be entered in the main screen or be selected from your contacts or call log.

2- Open the menu and click on JAJAH Call – that’s it!

Mark Wachter, founder of the Mobile Monday German chapters and from WMC.mobi  opened the conference by giving a very interesting overview, starting from the past of mobile marketing and advertisement  to the future.   Wachter discussed various Mobile Advertising methods such as targeted advertising which is one the benefits of  using mobile advertisement,  since the advertiser has a clear user profile, interactive advertisement, advertising by SMS  and LBS (location based services). The lecture also discussed the future of mobile advertisement and marketing and how things changed due to the entrance of social media, specially twitter, which increases the mobile internet traffic very dramatically.  He explained that the main guidelines for good mobile adv. and marketing are to keep the users privacy, have a value for the end-user and not spam users and be interactive. Wachter explained that there is no specific business model yet, since the world of mobile is constantly changing, especially with the entrance of twitter. In order to explain where the mobile is going, he showed the below movie, which is taking from mocom2020 and includes key events and innovation over a timeline, and what is expected to come.

Future of Mobile

The main emphasis of mobile advertising is that the mobile handset is a personal tool that goes every place with the  end user and with it a specific consumer profile can be achieved, making the advertisement and marketing very user targeted and have the customer benefit from it and actually want to get the advertisements. Examples of benefits are ordering a taxi to the location of the customer, free calls and SMS’s sponsored by the advertiser many more…

Mobile advertisement makes the advertisement and marketing  very efficient in compare to advertising on TV or the interne, where the customer is not fully defined.

As the concept of Social media grows so does the concept of Social Marketing. Yesterday I  attended a one of a kind dinner at Forelin, which is a chef seafood restaurant. The event was called “Eat & Twitt” and the purpose of it was to promote the restaurant and their new summer menu. This is the first time this is done in Israel, and I have not heard of a similar event done abroad… The event was organized by Liat Vardi–Bar, the talented  “out of the box” thinker I know and love and promoted by Yosi Tagori, which “invented” the concept of #fiddme on twitter.

The guest included magazine and blog writers that are related to the food  and restaurant industry and twitter geeks which tweeted the entire dinner.

In addition to the wonderful dinner served, there were different wines from Agur winery, and a lecture about food photography techniques, and there were even give always: a cooking book from selected chef  restaurants.

This is the second time I attended  Forelins private room and enjoyed it so much. I love the setting and the service there! was one of the more fun events I have been to lately, waiting for the next one. Thanks Forelin!

Well, it seems that Pre and Pro sound rather similar. After explaining to the sales person why this phone is not the Pre, he said, “Yes, the Pre will only be available in September”  and explained how good is the Palm Pro. Since I was there already, I played a game. I was impressed that Pelephone had such a big stand, and thought to myself that its probably due to the new technology they are marketing : High Speed GSM, which is actually HSDPA (where did they get that name!?!).

At the end of the convention, I went up to meet a friend near the Pelephone stand, One of the girls told me I can play as much as I’d like (woohoo). surprisingly enough, I had won! I was shocked, I have never won before. I went to get my prize, and found out that in order to get my prize I need to sign up to Pelephone for 36 months and pay 70 NIS per month!!!, which is 2520 NIS!!!, doesn’t sound like a prize to me!. After talking a bit with the sales guy he said the problem is that I have a different operators phone and that I need to have a Pelephone subscription in order to be legible for the prize. sounds fair enough. As Pelephone charges me for some unknown reason for the past two years, I was actually happy.  I have two numbers subscribed to Pelephone, which I haven’t been using for periods of three and five years yet they’ve been charging me 60 NIS per two months. As me being one of those costumers that don’t want to wait 2 hours on the phone, I just let them charge me 30 NIS a month. finally I thought it was worth it. I could get the phone for 30 NIS a month, and still keep my Orange number. But it seemed that the ONLY package I could get in order to receive my **FREE* phone was the  70 NIS or up packages. It was to expensive to get the free mobile phone. I would actually prefer not to win a FREE phone and get all disappointed. After this incident, I’m going to wait on the phone how ever much it takes and cancel my 2 subscriptions to Pelephone. Although it does say on the small print that you need to subscribe to Pelephone, it does make you feel stupid that they make you pay a big amount and change your subscription package to a more expensive package. Shame on Pelephon!

The Mobile Monday Peer Awards where held during the MWC 2009. Different MobileMonday chapters from all over the world sent their chosen startup. Each startup had 3 minutes to introduce themselves. My favorite presentation was by Jaime Lanchares, Unkasoft CEO.  In his presentation he “talked” to his application and demonstrated what the application can do…  I recommend you have a look at his presentation . The Tel Aviv chapter sent Fring, which started as a mobile VoIP client, and enhanced to a mobile clients that allows various ways of interactions with your contacts. There were three award categories; jury award, audience award and the chapter award. PopCatcher won the jury award,  Unkasoft won the audience award, as I said before the presentation was amazing! Fring won the chapter award and also got second place in the jury awards.
