Customised Converse All Star

Over the weekend we went to the famous Carnaby Street in London for some retail therapy with my 16 year old niece. We always thought she was not much interested in fashion, but guess what, as soon as she spotted Converse shop, she jumped inside! And I was so impressed too – what a great place. Their shoes are amazing especially this legendary Converse All Star. More amazing thing is, we can even create our own design in their website! Look at what I designed, dark grey outside body and pink tongue, then green stitch and pink laces to finish off. This is so cool and fun! No wonder teenagers love them. This is a very tough time for teenagers – because GCSE is coming soon! My niece has been revising every day to prepare for the exams. I’m not sure if I can go back to that period again – being examined in any form is so stressful. But at least parents can provide them nice environment for studying. Love these funky workspace designs I found via home-designing.com. Modern furniture and decor – at least they don’t get depressed when they enter their rooms. Just a hope.

Whoa – look at this beautiful renovation of 141 Lincoln Place in Brooklyn! A creation of The Brooklyn Home Company, the place is a full of characters even though it was renovated from scratch. The architect is popular for their artisan approach to renovation – they make all millwork, sculpture and furniture themselves in their Brooklyn Studio. The end results are amazing. Love their colour schemes too. Unusual interior design – quirky, eclectic, airy…. Hmmm, everything I want in my house.

Oh look at this! A handmade knitted rug just beside your bed, this is truly a luxury. Actually we can knit this fabulous rug by ourselves. Isn’t it amazing? It is featured in my favourite knitting blog The Purl Bee. This is something I can work on sitting on a comfy sofa late at night. Made with Alpaca yarn in natural colour, it looks really cosy. Here is the pattern if you are interested.

Pattern Note
Slip 1: Slip 1 purlwise, with yarn in back.

Begin
Cast on 41 stitches.
Wrong Side (WR): Knit
Right Side (RS): *K1, slip 1, repeat from * to last stitch, K1
Repeat previous 2 rows until piece measures about 41 inches or until desired length, ending with a WS row.
Bind off loosely and weave in your ends.
