Mike Posner: Looks Like Sex

Looks Like Sex is from his much anticipated follow-up to 2010's debut release of 31 Minutes to Takeoff by none other than Mike Posner. I know some people might not like him and/or perhaps might not even have heard of him; but he is one of the greatest ElectroPop and ElectroHop artists out there. So therefore this release is from his new and upcoming Sophomore 2012 studio album entitled Sky High.

Apparently I own this song on MP3, the original Remix that is. I had no idea really as I don’t pay attention to remixes that don’t blow me away. Of course this version is remixed twice so it immediately blew me away, noting the 2.0 reference. MP3 is not my favorite audio format however it is the most popular at the moment. I am however, looking forward to the next format.

The Cataracs featuring Dev: Sunrise

I think everyone knows I love The Cataracs now. It all started with Far East Movement and then migrated from that to The Cataracs when I heard Bass Down Low, a song by Dev. Of course the only really good thing about Dev is her connection to them and when she says “It’s The Cataracs.” That just blows me away and I love it every time she says it. Of course she says it in practically every song.

This song is pretty good. It is definitely not my favorite Cataracs song, but it’s good none the less. I actually prefer the first song I downloaded from them entitled Top of the World because it is so exciting. I hear that they are coming out with a new album so that should help. But what I am hoping for is a great breakout smash hit like Top of the World to blow me away. I am not sure if Sunrise is meant to fulfill that duty but if it is they need to step it up a bit.

Lady GaGa: Marry the Night

Marry the Night is a great song. It’s not the best song from her most recent album but it is good none the less. I might even prefer it the most second to Judas only of course. I can’t even get enough of Judas at this point and it has literally been a year. I am looking forward to writing a Blog entry about that song this Easter since that is when I most think of Judas, Iscariot of course; since it is Easter and all.

Dev & Enrique Iglesias: Naked

This is another really weak song but I downloaded it because I believe in Enrique Iglesias. After all, his last name is Church in Spanish. Anything to do with Church right now is a good thing. However this duet is weak like I said so I am not in a hurry to download anything further from Dev but anything by Enrique Iglesias right now is on fire.

Drake featuring Rihanna: Take Care

I am trying so hard to like this song but it doesn’t seem like it is happening. I listen to it over and over while I work out, but first of all it sounds weak and second of all it sounds faded, as in it fades in and out. I would like to support Drake as much as I can but he has some pretty big shoes to fill. For instance I like T.I. and Wiz Khalifa right now and although the later is new to the scene, I feel as though he might be more worthy for the Prince of Hip Hop title.

Madonna featuring Justin Timberlake and Timbaland: 4 Minutes

4 Minutes is effectively Madonna's last big hit but watch out because she is performing at the Super Bowl this Sunday so that is going to change everything. She is only performing with Nicki Minaj as far as I know but M.I.A. is featured on her new single as well; correction M.I.A. is going to be there as well. That’s great because I am a huge M.I.A. fan, although not nearly a Nicki Minaj fan. All I keep comparing her to is Missy Elliott especially with her latest Madonna connection.

Madonna: Candy Shop

Once again another song performed at the opening of a concert. Not only that but this number is the lead song from the album Hard Candy. An album I love and it just so happens to be Madonna's most recent until later this year. What I should say is in about two months; it’s actually March 26^th, but who’s counting. This is going to be her 12^th studio album, so something big and I just found out that she is the fourth biggest-selling artist of all time.

Madonna: Future Lovers

Future Lovers is quite possibly one of my favorite all-time Madonna songs. It was even performed as the opening number for her 2006 Confessions Tour which I own on DVD/CD as well. That version contains the song I Feel Love originally performed by Donna Summer. I must say that version of Future Lovers is my favorite version of Future Lovers and that version is quite possibly my favorite performance of a song from that tour.

Madonna: Hung Up

Hung Up was the first single released by Madonna in several years, at the time. I was thrilled and excited and I still am but even more so this time around as she is about to release her first studio album in essentially four years; which is the longest she has waited since her career began. I hear it was voted as the most anticipated album of the year, 2012. That is pretty exciting and for those not following it just so happens to be her 12^th studio album. She is also the best selling female artist of all time.

Madonna: Secret

Secret was released as the debut single from Bedtime Stories, an album that I highly recommend. If you can’t afford the entire album then I recommend this song. So on to the future: Madonna is performing at the Super Bowl this year for the first time ever. Then a little bit later in the month and the following month she will be concentrating on the release of her much anticipated follow-up to 2008's smash hit record Hard Candy.

Madonna: Erotica

Erotica is seriously one of my favorite songs in the world. It encompasses everything I think of when I think of Madonna and for those whose minds are in the gutter; I am not thinking of sexual things when I listen to it or write about this song. Rather I am thinking of the subtleties for example: “Only the one that inflicts the pain; can take it away” and “Only the one that hurts you; can make you feel better”. Those are some pretty powerful words to live by and if you think about them then you will understand where I am coming from.

Madonna: Express Yourself

Express Yourself is a great song. I prefer the version that is on The Immaculate Collection but that is because it has more of an Electronic feel. The version on the album, Like a Prayer, contains trumpets and other instruments of a brassy feel so therefore it sounds a little more dated and from the decade in which it was released. The version on The Immaculate Collection was technically released in the 90s because that album was released then.

Alanis Morissette: Citizen of the Planet

Citizen of the Planet is the lead song from the album Flavors of Entanglement. I must say that this is one of her better albums and this song in particular sets the tone for the rest of her album in a big and meaningful way. It’s astonishing really because it wasn’t even released as a single although I can see why in a way with its angry fortes. None the less it was the first song I gravitated towards when I bought the album. I even enjoy it more than the lead single released from the album, Underneath.

Alanis Morissette: Underneath

Underneath served as the first single from the seventh studio album, or fifth internationally, by Alanis Morissette; I must say it was a great song choice and I highly recommend this album. The album is Flavors of Entanglement and it is her most recent album and the last released under Maverick Records. That’s a shame really because Maverick Records was such a great company. Of course without Madonna at the helm it is not nearly as good.

Alanis Morissette: Crazy

Crazy was written by Seal predominantly and performed by him but only Alanis could bring it to life like this, noting the sample above. If you haven’t heard her version then I highly recommend it. I even more, than highly recommend it. I amazingly recommend it as her version is far more superior to his, but I guess that goes without saying as I consider her as a person to be far more superior. After all she did sell millions of more records most likely.

Alanis Morissette: Eight Easy Steps

Eight Easy Steps is a great song. I never realized until years later, but better late than never. It was released as the album’s third single but I don’t ever remember the second single so it’s not like, that song did well. However the first single released from this album and its third, Eight Easy Steps, did pretty good although nothing in comparison to her preceding hits. The album on which this is from is entitled So-Called Chaos.

Alanis Morissette: Hands Clean

Hands Clean was a genius follow up to her sophomore release entitled Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, albeit years later. The album on which it’s from did not spawn very many other singles, but Hands Clean was a long time in the making. It’s too bad because people lost interest in Alanis after such a long break, although she was on tour for most of that time.

Alanis Morissette: Unsent

This is seriously one of my favorite songs from the late 90s. I enjoyed it so much and I remember listening to it obsessively while I was at work cleaning. Listening to music while you are working is such a fun activity but I am not allowed to do that anymore, apparently I play it at such a loud rate. None the less this song was amazing to listen to once I figured out what it meant.

Alanis Morissette: Thank U

Thank U is a great song. It was a great song choice for her massive follow-up to 1995's massively successful international debut album entitled Jagged Little Pill. You know she had to come up with something good following that and the singles that it spawned; most of which were extremely successful worldwide. I must say I am still in love with this song so many years later, speaking about Thank U.

Mariah Carey featuring Trey Lorenz: I’ll Be There

I’ll Be There is a great song. It is truly the only reason that I bought the album on which it’s from. That album would be Mariah Carey's MTV Unplugged EP which is amazing. Once I bought the album I fell in love with the rest of the songs but it took a long time because I focused on I’ll Be There for a while. I’ll Be There is originally a Jackson 5 song, however I prefer Mariah's version.

Mariah Carey: Hero

Hero is one of my favorite songs. I just so happen to be named after a Hero in Greek Mythology. His name was Jason and he is synonymous with The Argonauts. Of course I am not referring to the Toronto Argonauts; however there are a few similarities. For example, the Toronto Argonauts have won the Grey Cup (equivalent to the Super Bowl in the United States of America) a record 15 times, in the Canadian Football League or CFL. Of course the Super Bowl is the American equivalent of the Grey Cup in the United States and so therefore it is part of the National Football League or NFL.

Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men: One Sweet Day

I just finished listening to One Sweet Day and all I could imagine was singing this song to my sister who passed away Ten years ago. It will be 11 this year but I am not looking forward to that because it happened on May 11^th and that might mean something. However I loved celebrating her life last year as it was the Decennial Anniversary, a common occurrence that is often practiced in the East.

This song is definitely a classic. I love it so much that I could listen to it a million times. Not only do I have the Digital version on Compact Disc which is superior to any kind of Digital Download you can get at this present time but I also have the original on Compact Cassette and the “Live” version on Compact Cassette. For those that have no idea what Compact Cassette is: all it is; is a traditional Cassette Tape but the proper terminology is Compact Cassette, much like Compact Disc except that Stereo 8 preceded Compact Cassette, whereas LP record preceded the Compact Disc in terms of circular shape.
