Stay informed of the weather Sunday-Tuesday. Our area will be within a moderate risk of severe weather. SW Missouri may experience this after dark Sunday night so make sure your weather radios are on and programmed correctly.

This will be our best chances for tornadic weather so far this year. This could possibly turn into severe weather breakout for our area.

I found this write up on the MoDot site. This will hopefully begin to relieve congestion at Stones Corner (N, Main - 171 highway).

The Project
The interchange
construction involves several major projects and will take approximately
12 months to complete. Upon completion, the interchange will include:

A bridge along Zora Street, that crosses over Main Street and the railroad tracks west of Main Street.

Exit ramps to connect north and south traffic along Main Street to the newly constructed east/west Zora Street and interchange.

A
3-lane road connecting Zora Street west of Main Street to Jasper
County's Lone Elm Road. Traffic going south on Lone Elm will then
connect to the intersection of North Schifferdecker Road and Belle
Center Road.

More efficient traffic flow moving
north/south on Highway 43 with on and off exit ramps to Zora Street. Two
traffic signals along Main Street, one at Zora Street and one at
Veterans Way, will be removed upon interchange completion.

Completion
is scheduled for May 2013. This interchange also serves as a first step
in connecting to the West Bypass, proposed to follow portions of County
Road 290 (JJ Highway).

text-align: center;">

Scanner listeners in and around Jasper County will be hearing less within the next couple of years. In addition to Joplin encrypting police traffic and Webb City migrating to the NXDN protocol, which cannot be monitored by scanners on the market today, Jasper County Sheriff's Dept will also join the digital age along with Carthage PD.
Jasper County will be moving to Mototurbo (DMR) within the next couple of years. As of this post there are no scanners on the market that currently decode this protocol. Carthage PD will join Webb City with Kenwoods Nexedge line of digital radios. As mentioned above these digital radios cannot be monitored by scanner radio's.
So hearing little Johnny get pulled over and arrested for warrants may be coming to an end. Unless the scanner industry includes these two formats in new scanners then things will begin to get very quiet here in Jasper County.

Carl Junction Fire Dept. This line of storms has caused wide spread damage to structures, trees, and power poles throughout Labette, Cherokee, and Crawford counties. Winds in excess of 80mph reported. High winds knocked over 3 trailer houses in Labette County resulting in injuries and trapped occupants. This is the first major storm for the Sw Mo and Se Ks area this year.
