I think I've found a way, for everyone, to keep in contact by using a variety of chat tools (Facebook, Gmail, Yahoo Messenger, MSN Messenger and more) it's called Pidgin and it's available from http://pidgin.im

Here's a few things, I've found:

* I've had Facebook & Gmail chats running and another person contacted me Yahoo Messenger

* If you want to use video/voice chat, right now all you can use is GoogleTalk

Road Custruction is Done...Easy to Get To Tonight's Dinner & Dance!

All the road construction, down by the Oilfield Industrial Technical Society Park (2104 - 156 Street), is complete!

The best way to get in, to the site, is:

Anthony Henday Dr. (south)
Rabbit Hill Road
Go up onto the Rabbit Hill Road overpass.
Go south to Ellerslie Rd.
Cross over and continue south on the gravel (156 St.)
Drive through OITS Centennial Park gates...and you're there!

From the south end of the Rabbit Hill Road overpass, follow JP signs and balloons.

Cocktails & Registration 5:00 PM - Dinner 6:00 PM

If you're looking for things to do, during next week's 50th Anniversary Reunion Weekend and Dinner & Dance, here's a summary of the planned events:

Friday September 14th - J.P. High 50th Anniversary Weekend - Meet & Greet Pub Night: Former JP Rebel, Gary Hinton and his band "Dangerous Guise" will be playing, The Beer Hunter (west Edmonton). The address is 7522-178th St.

Sunday September 16th - Welcome Home Rebels - Sunday Service - Trinity United Church: The Church (8810 Meadowlark Road) is also 50 years old. They're holding a special Sunday service.

Photo Opportunities After 9:00 P.M. (Band & Dancing) & Interviews

Media Release (Edmonton, AB: September 9, 2012): There will be many Edmontonians and other Albertans, as a visitors from British Columbia, Ontario and other parts of Canada, at the Jasper Place High School 50th Anniversary Reunion Dinner and Dance, on September 15th.

The event has also attracted visitors, from Australia, New Zealand and the US. This is not a surprise, considering the worldwide contact the event's blog attracted! Visitors to jpchsreunion.blogspot.ca, can view a ClusterMap and see the stats, of the contact.

This is going to be great time for JP Rebels, from the 60's on to enjoy a great party,with lots of good old rock and roll, performed by Edmonton well known musicians Cold Feet. Announcer, from CHED's rock and roll days, Bruce Bowie, will be our MC, for the night.

The location of the event will be at the Edmonton Oilfield Technical Society Park (2104 - 156 Street SW, Edmonton). Please note the current detour, for access.

Unfortunately, there won't be tickets available at the door, however representatives of the media are welcome to visit after 9:00 P.M.

There is road construction, being done near the entrance to the Oilfield Technical Society Park, 92104 - 156 Street SW, Edmonton) where we'll be holding our Jasper Place High School 50th Anniversary Dinner & Dance.

We're also planning to have a special taxi rate, in place by the weekend of the event.

The organizing committee also wish to advise everyone, not to drink and drive, that weekend. Let's have a safe 50th Anniversary weekend!

Trinity United Church recently celebrated our 50^th Anniversary. We were established at the beginning of this neighbourhood and have been a part of its development. Many of the youth who attended Jasper Place High School were also part of our community. Therefore we are pleased to offer a “Welcome Home Rebels” as part of our Sunday Worship on September 16th. Wow! What a Month July Was on the JP Reunion Blog

During July our Jasper Place High School 50th Anniversary Blog had 3,318 page views and our total to date is 14,215!

From our ClusterMap, on the blog, we've been getting worldwide visitors!

It looks like lots of people are checking out, our September 15th Dinner and Dance, with live music by Edmonton band Cold Feet.

It's looking like it going be real blast (from the past).

We had an amazing response to our August 15th call for ticket sales and reached an important "Go Ahead Goal!, We're now able to firm up plans for our caterers and have made our first mass mailing of tickets.

We've now extended ticket sales to September 8th!

Please note, we will not be able to sell ticket, at the door, on September 15th.

Here's a question about our September 15th 50 Year Anniversary Dinner and Dance...So far I don't think I've seen the names, of Student's Union members, that I recognize! These people were the social "movers & shakers" of JP High, when I went there (in the late 60's). They have to be out there, somewhere? Hello! Have heard about our event we're planning? Hey former JP Rebels! Here's place on your radio dial and the Internet, where you can get lots of 70's tunes! Tune into CKUA, at 8:00 p.m. MST and listen to Baba's Grooves. Baba loves to hear from listeners, from his page, on the CKUA website. He's the station expert at find rock and roll, in the station's extensive CD and vinyl library and loves requests!

CKUA has FM transmitters all over Alberta, the "Mighty 580 AM and on the Internet, all over the world. CKUA can also be heard on SaskTel 855, Shaw Direct (Star Choice) 828 and Telus Optik 3809.

Former Rio Terrace Student's Can Celebrate Going Twice, To Jasper Place High School!

Bob Kenyon's family moved into Rio Terrace in December of 1961. At that time Rio Terrace, was part of the Town of Jasper Place. The Elementary and Junior High School students, from Rio Terrace, were bussed north to Lynnwood School. With Lynnwood busting at the seams and using portable classrooms, plans were in place for building Rio Terrace Elementary School.

When the fall of 1962 arrived, the new school wasn't finished. The decision was made to bus, the Rio Terrace Elementary students to the newly constructed Jasper Place Composite High School and house them in the northeast wing.

Bob says "I was in grade 6 and it was interesting, going to High School when I was only 11! It must have been really odd, for the grade 1 and 2 kids"

Rio Terrace Elementary School operated, in that wing of the High School until Christmas. "The older kids, were allowed to move around the high school, for washrooms and such." All the High School students were instructed, on the first day over the PA, that they were supposed to help their young visitors out and anybody harmed us would be in serious trouble. "That's what I though was High School Principle, Dr. Keilor's statement was"

Bob says "The teenage girls were generally nice and of course thought we were cute". The teenage guys, for the most part, seemed to think we were a nuisance, but not wanting to get in trouble ignored us."

In the New Year, we all went to our brand new Rio Terrace Elementary School, and being in Grade 6 Bob says "I went to the still under construction Hillcrest Junior High, for the next three years...Then back to JP High, for my second time".

Now with the JP 50th Anniversary Dinner and Dance, coming up in September, Bob says "It would be nice to see those other former Rio Terrace kids, that shared the experience!". A Message From The JP High Reunion Planning Committee

Hello JP Alumni!

I trust you are all having a great summer! The anticipation of our reunion is looming on the not to distant horizon, and we as a committee are requesting your assistant.

Thousands of students have gone through the doors of JP High School since it opened in 1962. You are the supporters, "The Rebels" that have stepped up and pledged your monies and made arrangements to come to Edmonton for the reunion on September 15th.

Since we undertook this journey of planning the reunion, a few things have come to light. There are MANY of our classmates that are not on social media, such as Face Book, and some do not even have computers or email. It is a fact.
Although it was a natural way for us to promote the reunion and contact you, we are discovering many of our classmates have not yet heard of the event. They are NOT AWARE the reunion is happening!

We are getting down to the final days, and we are asking you to contact your friends and family that have attended JP and ask them to come and join us all for a great event. Get on the phone, email, internet and what ever other means you have to reach out and involve those that have not yet sent in their funds for the reunion.

We even have posters, you can download, from our site and put up in grocery stores, convenience stores, public and community bulletin boards. You can even send them to your fellow, former Rebels.

We fully understand that some will not be interested, and some will not attend. We are interested in those who have said they will attend and not yet enrolled, and as important as these, contacting and reaching the individuals who have not yet heard of the event! We believe it would be unfortunate to not give all JP Students the opportunity to decide whether or not they would like to participate in this memorable occasion. Some of us are starting to get long in the tooth, and when I graduated in 1971, my parents were 44 and 43. Today I am 58, and the time is still flying by!

Please reach out to everyone you can think of that attended our great high school; the people that helped us forge memories that are still with us today. We are requesting your assistance in doing this. Please help as you are able!

Rumor has it ... a lot of former JP Rebels, are planning to be a part of the 2012 Reunion! We're pleased to hear this and to those of you who have purchased your tickets...A Big Thank you for leading the pack and you're going to have a great time!

For those of you on the fence or are planning to wait till the last minute to buy your ticket...remember..."NO TICKETS AT THE DOOR" and "NO TICKETS" available after we cut off the sales, which could be as quickly as we sell out! PLEASE help us be able to plan for the proper number of people, meals etc...."ORDER NOW"!

PLEASE tell all our JP Rebels that aren't on the Internet about the event. You can event print out the registration form and give, fax or mail it to them

Let's get that good, old fashioned, word of mouth, buzz going and make this Party "ROCK"!

Also we have posters, on the blog, you can download, make some copies of and put them up in grocery store bulletin boards, convenience/drug stores, community halls, churches, etc. The come with a new "techi" QR code, that can be scanned by a smart phone and opens up the blog!
