Coca-Cola Philippines Celebrates the 100th Years Anniversary

In a simple yet meaningful gathering in their office at King's Court in Makati City last January 6, 2012, the Coca-Cola Export Corporation (TCCEC) unveiled some of their programs for the year-long centennial anniversary celebration of being here in the Philippines.

Wally Panganiban, TCCEC Public Relations Manager said they have lots of surprises for the Filipino people as Coke celebrates their 100 years in the country.

From TV commercials to slogan, Coke has always made a strong connection to the Filipino drinking public. Indeed, "The only thing like Coca-Cola is Coca-Cola itself." “Coke is It!” "Coca-Cola... makes good things taste better" so you would want to “Buy the World a Coke.”

We enjoyed the touching story presented in a 40-minute presentation of Coke's 100-year history in the Philippines while having a dinner, together with colleagues at Philippine Press Institute Ariel, George and Bess. It was nice knowing great stories of how communities benefited from Coke's programs in the country.

Since Coca-Cola was introduced to the Philippines in 1912 from the Coca-Cola Company of Atlanta, Georgia, USA, and 26 years of being an iconic brand in the US, it has been quenching the thirst of every Filipino -- from as simple as drinking the carbonated soft drink available in every corner of the country to being part of Coca-Cola's various programs for the Filipino community.

True enough, "Things go better with Coke."

It was a night full of fun and excitement for media attendees. Some of us went home with special prizes. Yes, as special as iPad 2.

But aside from the fun, we were also brought back to our early years with the exhibit that features Coke memorabilia from the past years. It reminded me of my younger years. When I was a kid, it seems to me there's a celebration whenever Nanay (mother) buys a liter of Coke even just for a usual meal. The feeling remains the same every time I drink Coke nowadays. It is the same feeling I'm surely sharing with over 1.7 billion Coke drinkers, everyday (based on the Coke consumption rate in 2010).

But how is it to live in 100 years? I'm still in my 20's so I definitely have no idea. But Coke gave us a chance to have a glimpse of how 100 years is lived. They share with us the about to be launched Coke-Philippines' 100th year anniversary TV commercial, "Tagpo," which will be aired on three major TV networks ABS-CBN, GMA, and TV5 on Sunday, January 8 at around 7pm.

The new Coke TVC features a 100-year-old man meeting his newborn great granddaughter on his 100th birthday. On the way to the hospital, the great grandfather narrates his words of encouragement for her. The commercial ended with lolo saying 100 years is not enough.

And for Coke lovers, it surely is not enough.

It is such a very touching TV ad that Filipinos should watch for. I'll post a copy here once available.

With Coke's presence in the country, or in every home, there's no doubt it was awarded the "World’s Best and Most Valuable Brand in 2011." Forgive me but I have to ask this, "what's the world without Coke?"

I thanked tonight for learning more about the company. I would surely be blogging more about Coke in the days to come.

It's glad to note that Coke's original intention as a patent medicine when John Pemberton invented the Coca-Cola recipe in 1886 did not go in vain. For Coke went beyond being just "The pause that refreshes" because for many, "Life Begins Here."

Working the whole day is where the stress and tiredness exist. Work is a never ending process. You can never finish it. Interest of a client is not more important than your family. If anything happens to you, your family and friends will be there for you. You should not expect anything from your boss or client.

Life does not mean coming to office, going home and sleeping. There is more to a life. You need time to socialize, entertainment, exercise and relaxation. Don't make your life meaningless. A person who stays in the office until late hours of the morning does not mean that person is hardworking. He/she may just not know how to manage work within the stipulated time. You did not study hard and struggle just to have a meaningless life.

Relax.. Don't stress too much. Have a balance life. We work to live , not live to work...

During my vacation last year, my wife and I pampered ourselves with a series of visits to a facial center. Then, we gave a treat to my family with a sumptuous dinner in one of the top hotels in Metro Manila. And the best part of it was, we’ve paid for all of them at more than half their regular prices! Thanks to a couple of vouchers my wife bought from a group buying site.

Group buying is fast becoming the latest online craze not only in the Philippines but in other countries as well. Many companies and establishments offer discounts to their various products and services like food, fitness classes, beauty treatments, baking courses and even travel packages for a limited period of time. This marketing style falls under the concepts of economies of scale in the form of bulk buying. The more people purchasing the product, the cheaper it becomes.

Some establishments take advantage of this latest marketing trend on the premise of higher sales return while newly established businesses benefit from this by advertising their company and gaining a free entry pass into the already saturated market.

However you wanted to look at it, in the end, the winner is the buying public because we all get the same product at a much lower cost. But there’s always two sides of the coins isn’t it? It’s because not every time, group buying works to our advantage.

Many people become addicted to purchasing any voucher they’d come across the internet. Notwithstanding the amount and how they would pay for it, clicking the buy button for them has become too tempting.

While most of the group buying sites operates legitimately, there are some reported incidents of fake websites and transactions. Others claim that the products they ordered from some of the merchants were inconsistent with what were shown in their site.

Bottomline is we should always be diligent enough to scrutinize every offer we see in the internet. You can try reading about recommended group buying sites to have some degree of security. And most of all, we must always remember that we should only buy what we need and what we can pay no matter how enticing the offer is.

Florida Push Begins After Contentious Debate - The Final

Jacksonville, Florida (CNN) -- Republican presidential hopefuls headed into the homestretch of the critical Florida primary campaign Friday after a riveting debate that analysts believe gave Mitt Romney a boost over fellow front-runner Newt Gingrich.

Florida voters will decide Tuesday who gets the biggest delegate haul so far of the GOP presidential race, and the CNN/Republican Party of Florida debate provided the four candidates with their final chance to face one another on the same stage in the increasingly vitriolic contest.

Romney and Gingrich entered Thursday's debate in a statistical dead-heat for the lead, according to recent polling, with former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and Texas Rep. Ron Paul trailing well back.

Paul, who concedes he has no chance of victory in Florida's winner-take-all primary, heads to more moderate Maine on Friday to campaign for the caucus that begins February 4, while Romney, Gingrich and Santorum all planned events in Florida to begin their final push for Tuesday's primary.

Needing a strong showing to try to blunt Gingrich's harsh attacks of recent days, Romney was forceful and had the former House speaker on his heels on some issues.
At the same time, Santorum had his strongest debate performance so far, coming across as a sincere and committed candidate who would best represent conservative principles.
"Romney won two ways tonight," said CNN contributor and Republican strategist Alex Castellanos. "One, by having a good debate and two by having Santorum have his best debate yet."
Romney appeals to the more moderate wing of the Republican Party while Santorum and Gingrich are competing for the conservative vote. If Santorum can build support, it would hurt Gingrich as the primary process continues.

Paul also had a good night, repeatedly prompting laughter and applause with self-deprecating one-liners and clear messaging about his libertarian policies that excite young supporters.
The focus, though, was on the two leaders. Romney, the former Massachusetts governor, provided his most forceful and unapologetic statement so far about his vast personal wealth, saying Republicans such as Gingrich shouldn't criticize him for being successful.
Romney released his tax returns this week under pressure from Gingrich and others, revealing he paid a rate of less than 15% on income in the millions, mostly from investments including some holdings in offshore accounts.

Gingrich had disparaged Romney's wealth on the campaign trail, saying he lived in a world of "Swiss bank and Cayman Island bank accounts" and did nothing for his money. Romney previously seemed uncomfortable discussing his finances, initially stalling on releasing his tax records, but he was ready Thursday.

"I think it's important for people to make sure we don't castigate individuals who have been successful and try to suggest there's something wrong with being successful and having investments and having a return on those," Romney said.

Addressing Gingrich directly, he said: "You indicated that somehow I didn't earn that money."
"I have earned the money that I have," Romney continued. "I didn't inherit it. Those investments lead to jobs being created in America. I'm proud of being successful. I'm proud of being in the free enterprise system. I'm not going to run away from that."

On the tax rate issue, Romney noted that combining taxes paid and charitable contributions equaled about 40% of his income, and added to applause: "Let's put behind this idea of attacking me because of my money and lets get Republicans to say, you know what, what you've accomplished in your life shouldn't be seen as a detriment but an asset to help America."

Other exchanges were just as compelling.
Asked to address the housing crisis, one of the major problems facing Florida voters, Gingrich began by claiming that Romney was knowingly and "unfairly" attacking him on his consulting record for mortgage giant Freddie Mac, sparking a fiery back-and-forth over which candidate has had a closer relationship with troubled lenders.

Gingrich claimed Romney had profited off of investments in both Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. In turn, Romney explained his holdings were in a blind trust and involved mutual funds that included bonds of the mortgage lenders.

Then he turned the tables on Gingrich, pointing out that Gingrich also had similar investments involving Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, which prompted a crowd response.
CNN Senior Political Analyst David Gergen gave that round to Romney, saying Gingrich threw a punch and Romney "came back and caught him unexpected."

Trying to widen what was becoming a two-man debate, moderator Wolf Blitzer asked Santorum and Paul if they believed any profits earned from investing in the government-backed entities should be returned.

"That subject doesn't really interest me," Paul replied to laughter, while Santorum sounded exasperated in calling for a halt to what he labeled "petty personal politics" that distracted from more important issues.

"Can we set aside that Newt was a member of Congress and used the skills that he developed as a member of Congress to go out and advise companies -- and that's not the worst thing in the world -- and that Mitt Romney is a wealthy guy because he worked hard and he's going out and working hard?" Santorum said.

Later, though, Santorum launched the toughest attack of the night on Romney in an extended back-and-forth over the health care plan Romney got passed in Massachusetts that in some ways served as model for the federal health care reform under the Obama administration.

Positioning himself as the strongest opponent of the health care law, Santorum insisted both the Romney plan and the federal plan included a mandate to own health insurance or face a fine -- a concept detested by conservatives.

He repeatedly returned to that point when Romney tried to argue the difference between a state plan for Massachusetts and a federal plan for the entire country, saying at one point: "Your mandate is no different than Barack Obama's mandate."

Throughout the debate, the audience was more vocal than during previous the Florida debate on Monday, when attendees were asked to hold their applause. Gingrich complained after the Monday debate against denying spectators the right to express themselves.

Also in contrast to Monday was Romney's approach, standing casually with a hand in his pocket for most of the two hours while responding with force to Gingrich salvos.

Afterward, Romney pronounced himself delighted with the debate, saying he thought it would give him a boost.

"When I'm shot at I'll return fire," he said. "I'm no shrinking violet."
Early in the evening, Romney drew frequent applause when he pushed back attacks by Gingrich over immigration.

Gingrich called Romney the most anti-immigrant candidate on the debate stage, repeating a charge in a campaign ad Gingrich eventually pulled after a complaint it was unfair by Republican Sen. Marco Rubio.

Romney responded with outrage, accusing Gingrich of using "highly-charged epithets" irresponsibly and denying he wants to deport all of the nation's estimated 11 million illegal immigrants.

However, Gingrich and Santorum also agreed with Romney that at least some illegal immigrants would be likely to "self-deport" if the government were to crack down on employers who hired illegal immigrants. All three men advocated a system of identification for immigrants that would help employers verify an employee's legal status.

Before the debate, Gingrich told an audience on Florida's Space Coast, hit hard by the end of the space shuttle program, that he would build a colony on the moon by the end of his second term in office -- a plan that found little support among his rivals on stage.

Santorum said the nation's debt crisis was too severe to consider such proposals, while Romney called the idea deeply flawed.

Citing his business experience, Romney said that if an executive had come to him suggesting spending "billions" of dollars on a colony on the moon, "I'd say 'You're fired.'"

Earlier in the day, Gingrich lashed out at Romney, accusing him of engaging in sleazy negative politics and being part of a fragile establishment desperate to stop the former House speaker from winning the GOP nomination.

One of Romney's most prominent supporters, former GOP presidential nominee Bob Dole, released a statement through the Romney campaign that characterized Gingrich as erratic, unreliable and certain to lead the Republican Party to defeat in November.

When Gingrich was in Congress, he "was a one-man-band who rarely took advice. It was his way or the highway," said Dole, a former U.S. senator from Kansas. As speaker, Gingrich "had a new idea every minute and most of them were off the wall. ... Democrats are spending millions of dollars running negative ads against Romney as they are hoping that Gingrich will be the nominee."

According to a CNN/Time/ORC International survey released Wednesday, 36% of people likely to vote in Tuesday's primary say they are backing Romney, with 34% supporting Gingrich. Romney's margin over Gingrich is well within the survey's sampling error. Santorum was at 11% and Paul at 9%, with 7% undecided.

Gingrich received a boost in the polls after his double-digit victory in Saturday's South Carolina primary, but Wednesday's CNN poll and another by the American Research Group indicate that his momentum might be waning.

The hotel complex is so grand, it will take $2 billion to construct the complex inside the 45-hectare site located at the Bagong nayong Pilipino at the Manila Bay area. Envisioned to put the Philippines on the world map of entertainment and gaming, the complex will start construction in February 2012. The hotel complex is expected to hire some 15,000 locals to help in the construction and in other services.

Inside the complex, there will be two luxury casino hotels hosting 450 and 600 rooms respectively along with a 1,000 room budget hotel. The video below discusses the Senate version of the House's Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA). In the Senate the bill is called the PROTECT IP Act (PIPA). SOPA has gotten more attention than PIPA because it was moving faster in the legislative process. But PIPA is just as dangerous, and now it is moving faster.

PIPA would give the government new powers to block Americans' access websites that corporations don't like. The bill lets corporations and the US government censor entire websites and cut sites off from advertising, payments and donations.

This legislation will stifle free speech and innovation, and even threaten popular web services like Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook.

How to Add Google +1 Button in a Blog

Go to Google +1 main page to generate a +1 Google button code, it has 4 buttons like Small (15px), Standard (24px), Medium (20px), Tall (60px) buttons.

Copy the following code you've generated in the place of your page where your Google +1 button will appear. You can either first select the Language you may want, but it is more recommended to choose the default "English (US)".
In the "Advanced Options" you can check or uncheck the "Include Count" if you want to appear the count number next to +1 button.

Finally after having more than a couple of days of maintenance, Blogger.com is now finally running on the net! The interruption caused after Blogger's scheduled maintenance last Thursday (PHT). The maintenance was supposed to last for only one-hour but after it, Blogger came back to read-only-mode where users can't upload new contents to their blogs. They also removed all articles and comments posted during the short uptime after the maintenance.

I hope this online resuming with Blogger would be the last and final interruption that will not bring into a massive outage that affect their ranking for 2011 as the most reliable blogging service with 100% uptime by Pingdom.com.

I probably believed that some of my readers are wondering if what happen on me in the past two months. Well, to tell the truth, there's something about related on this blog which I am trying to optimized that's why I made only a fewer post and sadly some of those posts are came from my guest blogger, and I found myself sorry for that little post I made. But before I let myself start for this a little short of conversation, I would like to congratulate not only myself but of course YOU as my blog reader for always supporting this site, because without you this blog won't exist.

For that two months of having been disappeared on the internet for a little while, I'm just busy doing some things like optimizing this blog in Google's PageRank (but sad to say it's still on a PR0, waiting to achieve the PR1). Likewise, modifying my blog’s template. This template is called as Themelib, and this is originally modified by me. So what can say about my newest blog layout? Does it look clean or something? Well it depends upon your look. Now I have finally chosen my newest blog template, let's go on to the most important part of blogging, it is about purchasing your very own domain. Domain is one of the most important things in blogging, for it serves as your main identity in the blogosphere. Without domain, your blog were gonna make no sense for it doesn't brand yourself to compete with other professional bloggers out there. How to Recover Infected Shortcut Virus Files?

Are you getting rid of shortcut viruses in your computer especially on your Flash Drives or Pen Drives? Shortcut virus are the most common viruses attacks on every folder and create a shortcut on it which results on your files inside that folder are no longer accessible anymore. Now I'm gonna share this very simple trick to recover those files inside your infected folder.

First, click Start, Run, and type cmd. Command Prompt window will open, and type this attribute:

attrib -h -r -s /s /d g:\*.*

Note: Just replace g: of whatever your flash drive directory letter.

And that's it! Open your flash drive and you were now able to access your (shortcut) virus infected folder.

Customizing Blogger CSS Code for Better Page Loading

Blogger templates are usually installed with built-in CSS Codes under <b:skin> and </b:skin> tags. These tags are served as the main body of blogger templates. But somehow, using this css codes affect the loading time of blogger blogs. So now, were going to customize this css codes in order to optimize the page loading time especially those who are using a third-party css codes embedded in their template.

Step I.
Log in to your Blogger Dashboard and go to Layout, then Edit HTML. Make sure to check the small box besides "Expand Widget Templates" in order to expand the CSS Codes.

Step II.
Now highlight and cut the CSS Codes in your template. The CSS Code is located between <b:skin> and </b:skin> tags.

Step III.
Go to http://cssdrive.com. This site is a CSS Code Compressor.

Step IV.
Compression mode: (?) - Normal
Comments handling: (?)- Don't strip any comments

Step V.
Paste your CSS Code into the box and click Compress-it!

Step VI.
Now copy your Compressed CSS Code and paste it between <b:skin> and </b:skin> tags. Then save your template and your done!

How to Reset Epson T13 Printers?

Waste inks are totally one of the major problems encountered when troubleshooting Epson Printers. Error message shows up "Parts Inside Your Printer Has Reached The End Of Its Service Life", this error occurs when the Waste Ink Pad are at full and need to reset. But resetting Epson Printer is not that easy in the beginning especially if you don't know the procedure that needs follow correctly.

There are different ways of resetting Epson Printers, one is by resetting manually by pressing both the power button and the power cable plug of the printer. And the other one is by using a software that will automatically reset the printer by identifying the waste ink pad counter. Now I'm gonna show you how, follow the steps below.

Download the resetter first, click here.

Step I. Open "Adjustment Program" and click "Accept".

Step II. Click "Select" to set-up the Adjustment Program.

Step III. Select Model, Destination, and Port.

Step IV. After selecting the model,destination and port, click "Particular Adjustment Mode".

Step V. Go to "Waste Ink Pad Counter" and click "OK".

Step VI. Click "Check" to view the waste ink pad counter.

Step VII. Check the "Main Pad Counter" and click "Initialization" to fully reset the printer.

And that's it, your Epson Printer is now online!
