Produzido por Clint Eastwood e dirigido por Charlotte Zwerin o documentário retrada o estilo diferente e estranho do pianista, visto como falta de técnica e um gênio além do seu tempo. As imagens filmadas por Michael e Christian Blackwood sobre o compositor e pianista em 1968 estavam em excelente estado incluindo cenas de Monk fora dos palcos. Ricker como produtor juntou-se a diretora Charlotte Zwerin e ao produtor executivo Clint Eastwood trazerem esse material à vida. "A Vida e Música de Thelonious Monk" combina imagens dos Blackwood como Thelonious no estúdio durante a turnê e cenas por trás das câmeras como novas entrevistas, fotos de arquivo. Pausas, compassos irregulares, dissonâncias, um toque percussivo e anguloso fizeram de Monk um músico único no jazz. Monk é conhecido pelo seu talento para realizar improvisações e compor com facilidade ao piano. Uma de suas composições mais famosas é "'Round Midnight". Monk líderou o famoso "Thelonius Monk Quartet" com outros grandes jazzistas como Willbur Ware e Shadow Wilsonquem e John Coltrane que o tornaria seu mentor e amigo em sua carreira solo. Seu estilo ao piano era muito peculiar distante de algumas das técnicas tradicionais. Várias de suas composições se tornaram célebres sendo que diversas delas marco no divisor do jazz. Consagrado pela midia fez várias excursões pela Europa nos anos 60. &lt;span lang="EN-US"&gt;Em 71 e 72 integrou o grupo "all stars" Giants of Jazz, que incluía Dizzy Gillespie, Art Blakey e Sonny Stitt. &lt;/span&gt;Em meados da década retirou-se de cena devido a problemas de saúde morrendo em 17 de fevereiro de 1982 de ataque cardíaco. Elements of Sound é o primeiro albúm da banda e foi produzido por David Marfim, onde neste momento estão em turne pela a América do Norte. O Grupo Medusa, rodou o país e já apresentou-se no Festival de Jazz em París em 1982. No mesmo ano lançaram o albúm intitulado ´´Ferrovias``, mas não muito tempo depois a banda acabou.

Para apaixonados do idioma mais influênte da música contemporânea, esse encontro além de ser uma aula para o ser humano, adormecem os ouvidos cansados de tanta “porcaria” do qual temos que aturar atualmente.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:0cm;margin-bottom:.0001pt;text-align: justify;line-height:normal"&gt;A maior dificuldade esta na programação, pois selecionar o que assisitir tá dificil einh!!! Além das atrações nacionais, os gringos vieram com sua bagagem para não fazer feio: o jovem trompetista Christian Scott, que já tocou com Prince, o rapper Mos Def e a cantora de soul Ledisi, o irreverente Trio The Bad Plus, às releeituras de clássicos do jazz pela a diva Dee Dee Bridgwater; e um dos mais aguardados, o Lendário Saxofonista Archie Shepp, além de píanista, compositor, vocalista, poeta e autor teatral é um expert na cultura-afroamericana.
