These past few days, I am doing nothing, just sleep, eat, blogging, checking emails and etc. I mean, whats new? same old thing. I wanted to relax a bit, enjoy and have fun or doing interesting blogs, Like yesterday I saw my friends pictures doing scuba diving, I have been planning for that way way back but I still dont have enough funds, Well lets jsut wait for that, I am very patient anyways :)

HP Touchsmart IQ500 Series: A new gadget you wanted to own

Just saw this new gadget on the net, and wow its very sleek and cool to use, its some sort of an iMac clone but sure its better. It’s easy to look at the Touchsmart and dismiss it as an iMac wannabe, but you’d be missing the point. That point is the tip of your pointer finger; the beauty of the Touchsmart is the fact that all 22 inches of its screen are touch-sensitive. The touch recognition is pretty accurate as well, allowing us to navigate My Computer without accidentally formatting the hard drive. Occasionally we’d hit the wrong program when playing with the start menu, but after a little practice even this cluttered area became perfectly controllable with our delighted digits.

Not that you’ll be using the Vista interface much. If all you want to do is write basic notes, surf the net, watch TV, play music and browse your happy snaps, you’ll probably utilise the custom HP interface instead. It shares some similarities with Vista’s Media Centre (which is also part of the software install), using an icon based approach that is easy to see from a long distance. This makes it perfect for use from the couch, but you won’t need Inspector Gadget arms to do so – the Touchsmart comes with a media remote. If you’re up nice and close, the real benefit of the custom HP interface becomes apparent, being built with touch control in mind. It shares many of the same features as the iPod touch, such as gesture controlled zooming and rapid scrolling. Considering HP is a PC manufacturer and not an operating system creator, it’s done an admirable job with this custom interface. Combine this fantastic GUI with the accurate touchscreen, and the result is a truly revolutionary computing experience, that isn’t just a bullet point in a PowerPoint presentation. It’s ready to buy right now. As this reviewer can attest, there are people out there who didn’t grow up with a mouse and keyboard (his parents being a golden grey example) and using gestures to control the computer might be just what they need to get past their lack of experience. It worked for Nintendo’s Wii, so there’s a good chance it’ll work for the Touchscreen.

To review this PC based on specs alone wouldn’t be fair, but surprisingly enough, it stacks up pretty well. The 22in monitor is 1,680 x 1,050 resolution, not quite true HD but crisp enough to make your DVDs look great. It’s got a glossy finish, which opens up glare issues but helps reject oily fingerprints as best it can. The inbuilt speakers won’t be shaking the foundations of your abode, but for standard TV viewing they’re more than adequate. Speaking of which, the TV tuner in our model was standard definition rather than true HD, but unless you’re a Blu-ray fiend you probably won’t notice the difference. All 4GB of memory is actually used, thanks to HP’s choice of 64-bit Vista, while the 2.16GHz Core2 Duo chip provided plenty of oomph for day to day needs. It also does it at a temperature cool enough for the PC to remain whisper quiet. The only area that is lacking is the video processor, utilising the NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS chipset. Gamers beware.

We’re big fans of the Touchsmart. It’s a great all-rounder, whose unique interface is as much fun to use as it is worthwhile. Two thumbs up.

Tuna festival '08 finally opens in GENSAN

GENERAL SANTOS CITY (MindaNews/27 August) – Despite apprehensions over security, a festive mood prevailed among residents here who greeted the opening Sunday of the weeklong tuna festival with fun and revelry, and officials who emphasized the contribution of the local tuna industry to the city’s progress.

Mayor Pedro Acharon acknowledged the contribution of the tuna industry as he appealed for ocean conservation to protect the industry that enabled this city to land in the national and international market maps.

He called on industry players to pursue environmental governance projects to conserve dwindling marine resources that are the lifeblood of the industry.

“The tuna industry has contributed a lot in improving the economy of the locality. It is but proper to fete it with honor,” the mayor said in a speech at the city oval plaza where tents offering various merchandises have risen.

“I thank the tuna and fisheries related investors for locating in our city,” he added.

This year is the 8th Tuna festival that would culminate on September 5, the 38th charter anniversary of the city.

No prominent national figures, however, graced Sunday’s opening ceremonies, unlike in the past years.

Roads surrounding the oval plaza were closed to traffic to give way to the activities. Uniformed police and military personnel were highly visible due to lingering terror threats to the area. Bomb sniffing dogs swept the periphery for explosives.

Acharon called for public vigilance against any acts of terrorism that might be committed during the festival to avoid spoiling the upbeat mood.

Senior Supt. Alfredo Toroctocon, city police chief, called on the public to cooperate in security checks in a bid to curtail untoward incidents.

”We have heightened our security and we hope nothing bad will happen in the duration of the festival,” the police official said.

The highlight of this year’s festival will be the tuna congress, an event expected to gather hundreds of key tuna industry players in the country and abroad.

Slated on September 1 and 2, this year’s congress is themed “Quality and Sustainability: Key to Competitive Philippine Tuna Industry.”

Agriculture Secretary Domingo Panganiban and Sen. Ramon Magsaysay, chair of
the Senate committee on agriculture, will be the key guests in the opening ceremonies.

The Philippines annually produces approximately 400,000 metric tons of tuna with a value of P18 billion (about $330 million), of which about 85 percent (roughly P15 billion or $280 million) is exported to various regions, including Japan, the US, and Europe, according to the Department of Agriculture’s Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources.

The bulk of tuna production takes place in this city, which is dubbed the “Tuna Capital of the Philippines.”

The local tuna industry here provides direct and indirect employment to at least 100,000 fisherfolk, laborers and factory workers.

Six of the country’s eight tuna canneries are based in this city.

I wanted to share this place to everyone, this is Ligid Island a wonderful place and very virgin though I havent been there yet, I really like the place and very very nice, This site is located in the northeast tip of Samal Island lies Big Ligid Island. The caves reveals the marvelous underwater marine life. Fine golden sea cucumbers are densely littering the reef amid a rainbow of soft corals, hydroids and basket stars. The slender reef top, covered with leather corals, drops sharply at about 15m. In the caves, divers will see small tropical small reefs black corals, soft corals and sponge crabs. Outside the caves, you will encounter several marine life such as crabs, tunicates, scorpion and lionfishes, sleeping parrot and rabbit fishes, morays and razorfishes hovering vertically in a harp gorgonian.

Finally, I just graduated with my two courses, the first course was Vocational Nursing, and the second one was Applied Science in Nursing all are U.S. curriculum based course. The baccalaureate service was held at the MRBC ( Mindanao Regional Bible College) Church, and the Graduation was held at Phela Grande Hotel Sapphire Err forgot lol, Our guest speakers was City councilor Meg Santos and Hon. Mayor Jun Acharon that was unluckily cant come because of previous commitment but instead he sent his Assistant which also I guess was related to him, I just forgot the name but his last name was Acharon too. The graduation march was very simple and I lost my 14k pin err. That really pissed me off. Anyways lets move on, after this graduation, I might be back to school again to gain my Bachelors Degree and after that I might be going to school again to pursue what I like, which is Info Tech :P

Youth Quake 2008

Me and my graduating classmates had a retreat on the Youth Quake 2008, with a motto of "We can make a difference". It was held at Camp Alano Toril Davao City, the place was huge and it was some sort of a camp of the Girls Scout of the Philippines. The Youth Quake Experience was a lot of fun, over 300 participant from different churches including Maranatha Family Church (not sure) and Releaser of Life Family Church and some Catholics. My classmates was all girls including our mentor, so they were separated from us including zekie our Dean of Nursing's pamangkin, the girls need to stay at the white house while the boys stayed away from the girls, I met a lot of friends though they were so young, I was like their kuya because all of my roommates were like 13 years old and one 16 year old. The Youth Quake was really fun including the Praise and Worship every evening because I feel like there was a live concert, all are like rakistas haha, but actually it made my spirit blessed and gained a new me and life! Camp Sabros " Longest Zipline"

Wow this day was awesome, we went to Camp Sabros to do cable Lifting and Zip Lining or the slide for life, we leave gensan about 7 am, supposed to be 6 am hehe but I was late, well anyways we traveled Gensan to Digos Davao del sur about 2 hours then we bought some foods in the fast food chain and waited in the jeepney about an hour or half an hour because the jeepney should be filled up with passengers before it leaves, so because we are waiting so long we paid the remaining seats, so there, from digos riding a jeepney we went to kapatagan about an hour and just prepare yourself because the road was really rough, but most of the road were cemented, so probably you should bring your liniments with you, for the pain in your back haha anyways right after arriving in kapatagan you will still climb around 1km to reach the spot. It was really awesome, I tried the zip line, and I felt nervous when I was on the center because I feel like I will fall down and wahhhhh hahaha that was crazy, on the other hand the place was kinda cold, its like Baguio. We went down about 3 pm, we waited for the jeepney who brought us there but he didn't, oh actually he did came but his jeepney was already full with passengers, so we waited again, luckily there was a passenger van, it was raining and we got stranded in the middle of the road, and the driver could not see the road because of the fog, but still we managed to be back home, I arrived at my boarding house around 7 pm.

Sarangani Highlands A new place to be discovered

March 11, 2008 exact date when we went to Sarangani highlands, where you can see the panoramic view of our city. We went there because of the contest I joined recently which is iTalentstar which is all about film making and discovering new talents through the internet. We need to capture some vids so it was a lot of fun, actually this place was a restaurant and the food are nice. But the bad thing was you can smell the odor of the fish in some canning companies below. But in the later part the smelly odor will be gone and you will just enjoy the view, the fresh air and you could just relax and sleep ahhhhh its really far from the busy city of Gensan. Its a recommend for you all 4 out of 5 :)

Who knows you might be the next big star! - iTalentstar

Feb 12, 2008 I receive an email confirming that I have been selected to be an iTalent to represent Philippines in iTalentstar - Asia's First ever online talent competition. And I said wow haha I was surprised because I think the video I submitted didnt pass their qualifications but luckily I got in. iTalentstar really developed my self confidence and helped me to interact with different people. The launch party was fun held at Alchemy Bar Pasig Metro Manila, I flew from Gensan to manila, and though I paid my expenses, the experience was worth it, and it was my first time to go to manila and ride an airplane weeeee

hahaha kinda crazy though, well anyways I reached the top 4 for males and just won an Asus eee Pc Laptop. but I havent received it yet till now... Darn
