Helen Baker Martin Rhodes (1903-1960)

On the right is a photo sent from Helen Martin's daughter, Susan. It is the most adorable picture of her Mother, Helen as a little baby in her carriage on the front porch of the house.

Her Mother, Helen Baker Martin Rhodes was born on June 26, 1903. She was James Everett and Emma's fifth child and their third daughter.

My family told me stories about the office Dr. Martin kept on the first floor of his home and how there used to be a door leading directly from the porch into his office.

To the left side in the photograph of Helen in her carriage, you can see the door to Dr. Martin's office. To the right you can see the porch of the family home next door.

The home up the hill from the Martin house no longer stands but it is remarkable to catch a glimpse of early Bluefield.
