I do not usually post my videos on my blog, after all there is a video bar down the side of the page but I filmed something a little different from my usual beauty/fashion videos, a book review :). The review is of one of my favourite books 'The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood'. I do not usually post wish lists but I can not stop browsing online through the spring/summer dresses coming into stores. Now that Christmas is over I am ready for winter to be done too, March can not come soon enough :). I can not wait till the days where it is light until 9/10 o'clock at night and you can go outside in just a cardigan or bear legs without your teeth chattering and your skin going all goose pimply In fact I can not wait until I do not have goose bumps in my flat, my room is so cold even when I have the heating on :). Anyway these are some of my favourite picks from Topshop online although there were another half a dozen. I think I may even have to splurge on one when I get payed to get myself in the springtime mood.

Today is my first day back at uni but my 12 o'clock lecture has been cancelled so I am not in until four. Do you ever have your day all planned out and then one little thing changes and you feel a bit dazed an unsure of what to do with yourself? Well I did not know my lecture was cancelled until ten minutes before I was about to leave (thank goodness I checked my emails) and since then I have not really know what to do with myself. I guess my blog appreciated it though because I spent a good half an hour doing this wish list :). I think know I better do some reading for uni so at least I have used some of my time productively, I have to leave in an hour now anyway. Hope you are all enjoying the new term whether it be at school, college or uni :). Bye for now.

Dip Dyed/Ombre Hair Doo

Tada, how many times in the three years I have been blogging have you seen a post all about my new hair colour, far too many to remember I am sure, and yeah I just realised I have been blogging for almost three years (it will be 3 at the end of january). Anyway, so yes I have gone for the infamous dip dye/ombre hair dye. Although I think dip dye is the wrong description unless I had hung upside down and dipped my roots in a pot of hair dye. The blonde is the same colour my my hair was previously, no dying involved, which I was please about because of course the less dying the better for my hair. The hair dresser just painted the dye over the top of my head and faded it slightly mid way down. I had presumed that they would dye all of my hair brown the re bleach the ends, thank goodness that was not the case :). You might think I am a bit late on the band wagon but before now I had not really wanted to change my blonde status. For about a month now however I have just felt like a change and I would say other than bright blue/purple hair ombre is the only colour choice I have not tried out, it seemed like time :). New year, new hair and what not. Anyway hope everyone is enjoying their week so far and holidays if like me you are still on them. I go back to Uni on monday, which I am actually quite excited about, I am at a bit of a loss for what to do with my time off now although I did go on a ghost tour under edinburgh yesterday with two friends :). I hope everyone is having a wonderful new year so far and a wonderful new year in the future (especially if you have been ill so far like me :)). I have not written a list of crazy unachievable resolutions nor do I think the change in year makes any difference, really, but I am however taking this opportunity like many to make a few changes, simple ones. So here are my new years resolutions:

1. Don't live in the past.

2. Finish writing my book.

3. Loose my uni weight.

4. Spend my time doing things I want to do.

I felt this NOTD would be appropriate as this nail polish is probably my favourite of 2011. Any time I have wanted to paint my nails and not been sure with what I have reached for this bottle. It is from the accessorize makeup range, which is available at superdrug. I love glitter polishes that coat the nail entirely, two or three coats of this and no base colour is necessary, vwala you have yourself one serious coating of glitter. This brand has quickly become one of my favourites because of their nail varnish and I have not even tried any of their other products I need to get on that :). Glitter polishes are my favourites and this one is inexpensive as well as a gorgeous bronzy colour. Not much else can be said on the topic but I thoroughly recommend this colour. Hope everyone is having a lovely 2012 thus far.

I have to admit I am pretty upset that Christmas is over for another year :( but I did have a lovely time so I can not complain :). I had a great day just hanging with the folks and my gran, I love watching everyone else open their gifts and I think they were pleasantly surprised. I have filled my stomach for the rest of the month I think and there are still chocolates and puddings left, wooh. I watched the Doctor Who Christmas special of course and I actually quite enjoyed it despite Matt Smith being my least favourite doctor. I say that but I feel bad because it is not all his fault. I really do not like the writing of the newest seasons. Anyway over all a wonderful day.

And you see that skirt, up there, I got that on ebay for 99p. Had to brag a little bit :) I love getting an ebay bargain that works out.

Neom Candle Review

A month or so ago I purchased some items from Neom. They are a relatively new brand and I have noticed them popping up more and more on blogs and on youtube since I got mine so I thought I would share my thoughts on their candles. The candle I have is in the scent Inspiration (a mixture of chamomile, violet and cedarwood). For me I can not help but be reminded of a citronella type scent that an all natural mosquito repellent I used to have smelt of. It is nice though :). The packaging is gorgeous it comes in a lovely sturdy little box and the candle is obviously good quality. I can definitely see me trying out more of the Neom scents because I am so impressed by their quality. The thing that strikes me most about the candle is its power. It really fills a room and even better the room continues to smell for hours after the candle has been put out. I love candles and have many that require your nose to be almost touching the flame for you to be able to smell them. If you love candles I do think these are worth the splurge although I do think you can get gorgeous candles for less you just have to look hard (or smell hard). :) I just wanted to share my thoughts, I hope this helps.

Do Revlon nail varnished not have names? I could not find one anywhere on the bottle. Oh well I would say the colour is pretty distinctive anyway, no name needed. Right although this nail polish looks mainly purple in the jar it is a black nail varnish with purple sparkly flakes as you can see from the nail swatches :). Never the less it is a gorgeous polish. Really quite different from anything else I have come across and I can not get my head around how they create the purple foil flake effect. I would say the black is pretty shear and for the best effect I would apply one layer of a plain black nail polish then one or two (depending on the effect you are going for) layers of this revlon nail polish. It is a very individual effect however and if you like the look of it I would recommend giving it a try. Now there is not much else I can say about an individual nail polish so I will leave it at that but if you are aware it is Christmas Eve right now so I will wish you all a very Merry Christmas! Or just a very lovely day tomorrow and on what ever holiday you do celebrate whenever that is :). MERRY CHRISTMAS :D.

Sparkly sparkly Christmas :). All I want to wear at the moment are sequins and heavy knits. Thank goodness for the detailing on the waist band on this Motel skirt. The top is from French Connection where I have just noticed they have already begun their 60% off sale its mad how big and early the shops have started on their sales. Earrings were like £2 from a cute little shop on the Royal Mile in edinburgh. Now I can not believe Christmas is in two days, woah! Today I am off to the dermatologist then a shopping trip for Christmas food with the mother :). I am staying at home at the moment for Christmas and I found it a lot more conducive to studying. If anyone would like to here about the experience of ro-accuatane I am having so far then I am going to write up a post on that tonight or tomorrow as well as film a video. The side effects are noticeable but bearable thus far. Now I better start getting ready as I need to leave in 45 minutes and I am still in bed (this outfit was from yesterday, currently I am rocking my pajamas). OOTD: Sparkly Collar

Finally Primark has come to Edinburgh. It seems absurd to me that before now we have never had a Primark in the capital city. I will not complain however as finally things are as they should be. Despite my serious lack of funs I had to pay a short trip to the store in my lunch break at work. I came out with this gorgeous black blouse, the collar being what makes it extra special. It is a bronzey colour covered in little sequiny beads, such a nice detail. The skirt I paired it with is from Urban Outfitters, surprise surprise. A small note though today at work I wore it to express my christmas mood but one of the buttons popped off right in the centre and I had to saftey pin it, not cool, but I guess that is what I get for buying ten pound blouses form primark, I still love it though. Now how excited is everyone for Christmas? A week today. I don't believe it :). However I still have another exam on wednesday so that is my que to scadadle. Have a lovely up coming week everyone, should be good :)

Nail Varnish/Polish I Would NOT Recommend

It's sad to say but it happens to us all: the purchasing of ultimately shoddy cosmetic products. It is then probably equally important to share experiences of these poor decisions as it is to share the successes. I do not buy a lot of nail varnish nor do I often spend much money on nail products however that did not stop these three from significantly disappointing me and with my low nail varnish standards that is saying something. Both of the actual brands these polishes come under I am actually a fan of and have some lovely other colours from their ranges. Two of the culprits are from China Glaze and are no way a reflection of my over all experience of the bran although I have only tried an equal number of goodies. The baby pink is Go Go Pink and the purple is Coconut Kiss. Both share the same flaws: they are streaky, sheer, peel on the nails and just do not do their bottle colour justice. I can not build either colour up to anything pigmented or even no matter how many times I try. The pink in particular ends up thick and and glumpy. The Accessorise nail polish, which are available in Superdrug, is not bad quality and applies quite nicely however I can not get over the colour. Every time I look at it it makes me feel a little queasy. It loos 10x worse on the nails and changes between a sickly green, brown and purple. I wish these colours looked as nice as they do on the paper but unfortunately I would have to say stay away, save your money for something else :). I did want to share with you my little polish elephant head quickly though, an accident but a happy one :). Hope this helped and have a lovely night everyone.

I was extremely peed off last time I went to get my eyebrows done. Ten pound gone and almost nothing to show for it. The woman basically only waxed the minimum she could and failed to reshape them even though they had turned into hungry caterpillars. So... I got out the tweezers when after only a week or two they were already looking like bugs again. I think I did an alright job, I tried not to get too carried away. I've always hated that the end of my brow above my nose on the right has been all sparse but what can you do :).

Wow wasn't that interesting. I've also just found out my flatmate is having a flat party in our home for hogmany when I'm not there and I can't really stop her so now it's worrying me. You know you don't want strangers in your room when your not there and I don't know if I trust her to be responsible enough to keep everyone out of it. Especially when they're all drunk, aah what to do?!? I think I worry about everything amplified by 100 during exams because I am already so stressed out. Last one is on the 21st and I can not wait. Plus only a mere 12 days till Christmas. The excitement is overwhelming! :D

Descending Curls

How did this happen? The 9th of December, really? Only 16 days till Christmas, my favourite day of the entire year :D. I'm a little sad to say I'm working on Christmas eve and boxing day but I will just have to make all the more of the 25th. So as per usual I have been snapping some pictures of my hair experiments. I decided to try a sort of 1940's, 1950's descending curl where the curl starts lower down the hair the further you go round your head. I think it looks pretty cute and now I look at the pictures I also think if you took a bristle brush and brushed from the inside of the curls in the same direction they curl it would look less like it was done with a curling wand and your curls would be less defined, which would look equally as nice, I will have to try next time. I can't talk any longer unfortunately as I am in major revision mode, it never ends, bring on the 21st and my final exam. Hope this little style suggestion was useful and I'll return soon with more words. Bye for now.

Note: Yeah I used my Babyliss Pro Conical Curling Wand, I'm so see through, I need to expand my hair utensils :) xx

Wow did not notice the massive chip on my nail polish earlier but it does not defeat the purpose of this post :). Anyway nail of the day. I popped into boots with the purpose of purchasing the Barry M nail varnish that is red and sparkly but sadly they were sold out so I went on the search for something else. 17 is one of my favourite nail varnish brands, for it's price, pigment and colour range. I'm not a huge fan of nail polish it is probably my least favourite form of makeup so I don't do a lot of splurging on it. I found a red polish with a sparkle to it in their selection although it isn't exactly like the one I had set out for, it will do :). Then I noticed that if you bought two items from 17 you got 3 free nail varnishes and I figured hey why not find another nice polish and I will come away with 5 for the price of 2, not too shabby. This time of year all of the brands, highstreet and highend have freebies, gift sets and offers on. I picked this silver one as I thought it would match my sparkly silver shoes, co-ordination ;). The glitter was one of the freebies. I love the silver, very pigmented and only needs two coats however the glitter as a freebie is great, adds a little something but I would never buy it individually. There is barely any pay of and even if your only looking for a sheer glitter top coat there are a lot better out there, Barry M for example do a nice one. I also got a plain red and a plain black for free which is always nice so I'm not unhappy. Right now I'm applying the sparkly red, feeling very christmassy. I'm also doing vlogmas on my youtube channel JeansThoughts if anyone is interested. Now I must return to writing my final essay, then onto exam revision :S. Have a lovely week everyone!

I have been meaning to mention this lipstick ever since I bought it almost a month ago. Well I have gotten around to it now :). It is from Mac and goes by the name 'Odyssey'. Sadly the name was one of the main reasons I bought it... I went in looking for a dark purple lipstick and because it was Mac had the choice of at least five. However after swatching them all I read the name of this one and fell in love. The 'Odyssey' is an ancient Greek epic novel/poem and if you didn't already know I am an ancient history student, so cool :). The colour as well was perfect I think it really suits me at least. It is a frost, my first frost from Mac. I was surprised as I really did not think frosts would be much good in the pigmentation department but I was wrong apparently at least where this lipstick is concerned. It is a really nice build able colour that can come out really nice, thick and dark with a few swipes. It is very wearable, qiute plummy with a nice sheen. It also mixes nice with mauves and reds just to make something a little different when you want to get the most out of your lipsticks. I hope the swatches above are ok. I completely forgot to take a picture of it on the lips but I think this gives you a good idea. It's the perfect winter colour in my opinion as you can really get away with a huge range of nice dark lipsticks in the colder months for some reason :). Bye for now, Happy December everyone.

Lomo Fisheye

Perhaps just over a month ago I purchased this little bambino. More recently I got my first film developed and these are a few of my photos. I thought I would share my first impressions of this, no matter what else, piece of art.

- If nothing else this camera like all lomography products is the utmost of cute and looks a hell of a lot nicer than modern digital cameras in my opinion.

- One of the main things that drew me to this fisheye and camera in general (because they have many) was the inbuilt flash. A lot of the lomo camera's do not come with a flash and you have to buy it separately or in a pack with the camera but it ends up slapping a great big extra charge on your camera, sometimes almost doubling the price. This is not my first lomo camera, I already had the octomatt, which unfortunately does not come with a flash. I found that without a flash previously pictures ere impossible expect at the brightest time of day. Taking pictures indoors too quite often turned out a nightmare unless they were particularly well lit. So all in all I was wooed by this baby with it's flash for nothing extra that seriously increased the opportunity to actually use the camera.

- Tips on lighting however. As you can see from above even with the flash pictures taken at night or in the dark are not going to turn out as well as those you take outside in the middle of the day, so let that be noted. You will probably still end up with a few blank spaces when you get your film developed if you take a lot of photos in these circumstances. I think in general lomo are ideally daytime cameras.

- This camera is pretty good value for money compared to some and thankfully it takes 35mm film which is the easiest and cheapest to get your hands on :). You can buy it almost anywhere, I got some the other day in the pound shop so you see what I mean. Although it does mean you will have to splash out a few pounds on development every time you want to see your pictures.

- If you do get good lighting and a decent composition you will end up with some very nice pictures. The fisheye lense does not distort your subject like you might expect instead it really hones in on them and frames them nicely.

- Lomography definitely takes a bit of work and getting used to. I still have some way to go but if your up for it it can be a lot of fun.

Free £20 to Spend in Kurt Keiger

A very quick little post here. If you were not aware already Elle are currently offering a free £20 gift card for Kurt Keiger! The beauty of this voucher is that you can spend it on anything that isn't already reduced and that includes those items that cost £20 or under. These are bits and bobs such as gifts, purses, jewellery, hats and gloves. So if you do buy the magazine don't think 'sure £20 but I'll have to spend another £60 or £80 anyway' when effectively you can get something for free (well the cost of the magazine :). I'm not going to lye I bought three today. I had to register them all under different emails and names, one for mum, one for dad, but that was easy peasy, you just have to activate them online. I got a lovely clutch bag for £10 instead of £30 and I am going back for a bracelet that should be £20 and will be for me, free :), I just hope the guy behind the counter doesn't recognise me, tad embarrassing :). So anyway if you can get your hands on this issue of Elle anywhere as I know they are disappearing fast I would highly recommend it. Big Cuuurly Hair

Ok so sure I have roots but they are not that dark! Damn lighting. I adored this hairdo I styled a few days ago and had to share it. It is so easy as well. I sleep on my hair damp most nights I wash it as I am a bit lazy and don't like blow drying my hair. When I wake up it is a bit of a state, some curls, some kinks, some waves and some odd straight strands. However this hair style has become my quick morning solution. Out with the trusted babyliss conical curling wand and whip up some fast curls. I concentrate on the thicker end of the barrel but don't bother if end up using the thin end, this is not a precise hairdo. I also only curl random bits of my hair, mainly at my roots then some underneath and in between :). A quick shoogle with my fingers and a swift back comb plus hairspray and tada done and doner.

I am thinking that I am going to get my hair dyed at the end of the month. I have opted to go for the ombre, dip dyed look. Not dark brown to blonde just dark blonde to bleached ends as I do think I suit the light hair better but just something to change things up a bit. I am just fed up with my hair at the moment. I'm hoping I can get this done at Charlie Millers, ah well we will soon find out.

Completely outside the realm of hair is Inheritance. The latest book in the Eragon series, which I am thoroughly enjoying. I bought it yesterday and am already proceeding quite nicely with it. Won't take me longer than the week to finish I am sure, mainly because I can not put it down. Eragon is like a replacement Harry Potter for me. You'll know if you have the Harry Potter book fever that feeling when the book is released that you just have to have it straight away and can't do anything else until it is finished, and then you are devastated when it is. This is also the last in the four instalments of Eragon so ultimate devastation here I come :(. Why can't book series just go on and on forever? Low Slung Pony Tail

Curly wurly pony tail. I love a simple hairdo that makes me feel like I've made a bit of effort, that's how this low slung curly pony tail made me feel. It also made my hair feel and look a lot longer than the usual high ponytail.

Recently I have also become a bit of a tumblr addict. Tumble tumble tumble all the time :). I got a couple makeup bits a bobs that I am going to do a post about wooh, proper beauty blogger posts, been a while. I bough a Mac lipstick in Odyssey, I wanted a dark purple lipstick but I think when it came to choosing which colour I wanted the name of the lipstick won me over. Odyssey like the greek 'Odyssey' by Homer, not an obvious ancient history student or anything. I don't know if name is a very good reason for buying a lipstick :). I really want a black-ish paint pot/creme shadow, doesn't have to be mac, can anyone recommend one?

Well I should really be writing an essay right now. It is due in on tuesday and to be 2,500 words... I have written 500. So really should be going. Have a lovely saturday :) xx

Hope You Had a Hippy Halloween

Ok so I know halloween was on Monday but better late than never :). Fancy dress is fun everyday of the year anyway so hey. I was, I think you can tell, a 70's hippy. To be honest it was a little bit of a lazy costume on my part or what I like to think of as a bid to save some cash. Everything I wore from my sandals to sunglasses, the dress and all the CND (peace) symbol jewellery was already in my wardrobe. None of my friends were particularly surprised either as I basically am a big hippy :). The dress is from a second hand shop, the necklace urban outfitters and the glasses H&M. Sadly however I went to a UV party at a club and my glasses were pinched and my necklace was broken; darn busy clubs!

I have observed that I have stopped labelling my posts. It has been a long time since I jotted down a fe words in that label box at the bottom of the new post section. Funny how we just let things slide. I feel like it is a little late to start back up now as well. Ah well.

Got to go anyway as I am about to fall asleep, have a lovely weekend everyone.

I hate that I hate but kind of love Made in Chelsea :). Complicated. It depresses me that people actually behave like they do in some circumstances and that the upper classes live like that with really no regard of those below them. Plus didn't Francis say that David Cameron was someone he admired. Makes me feel a little queasy. On the other hand Caggie, Milly and Louise all have such nice fashion, makeup and hair. Haha, I really just want to grow out my fringe and have a really laid back but pretty hair style like Caggie's. This is my attempt, pre fringe growing out :).

Anyway I had to two exams this week but now that they are over I feel like a weight has been lifted, at least until tomorrow when I start going essay mad. Three essays, four weeks, that should be fun. Halloween though, fancy dress, some dancing and a bit of drinking should make for a nice break. I am dressing up as a hippy, which none of my friend think is very impressive as they all call me a hippy anyway, but what can you do :). I'll take pictures of my hair and outfit at the weekend of course, I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone else goes as and all the halloween themed blog posts I am anticipating. Good for next years inspiration :). I am already scaring myself however with my new found Waking the Dead addiction. I'm watching old episodes right now and when I am in the flat at night alone (although this isn't often) I get pretty freaked out.

I really need to give myself some lessons in 'how to photograph your outfit'! Until then however these will have to do. I wore this skirt from Urban Outfitters with an H&M blouse.... very teacher chic. I love this skirt, I might even say it is my purchase of the year thus far. £22 pound in the sale with student discount on top of that, all money well spent I think :). In another thought I should probably learn to iron as well. Ok I can iron I just need to do it; my shirt looks ridiculously crushed in these pictures :).

A uni outfit of the day. Sums up my life at the moment. Where does the time go? I already have two exams next week! Study study study, work work work. Don't get me wrong I love my degree, I am so happy how it has turned out but man do you forget the amount of work that is involved during the summer and the whole fast pace of everything. It just happens in a flash and what do you know it'll be Christmas then summer again. No rest for the wicked :). Oh well I really should be revising then. I got myself a haircut. Most of you probably won't be able to tell though. I think I only lost about an inch but it feels so much shorter, I'm sure I'm not the only one that gets that feeling. But it does feel so much healthier and bouncier, I forgot how good it felt to get a hair cut, I highly recommend them :). I cannot wait for all my fringey bits to grow out so they are at least ear length and they stay off my face! The lipstick in the pictures is speed dial by mac just incase anyone is wondering.

I was watching Definitely, Maybe (the film) the other night and I was just in love with Amy Adams' hair with the loose curls. I tried to recreate it with a one inch curling iron although it didn't exactly come out the same this is what I ended up with. Hopefully a bit of practice and I will discover the secret to her hairstyle :) maybe some heated rollers are necessary. If anyone could recommend some heated hair rollers I would really appreciate it as I have been thinking of getting some for ages but am a bit of a noob when it comes to rollers. I don't even think I know how to use the velcro ones, do you sleep with them in your hair as they are pretty fat :).

Anyway my classical art lecture awaits so bye for now :).

Tell me it is not just me but I feel very... Christmassy! It might be the cold chilly weather and the heating coming on in the flat; it might be the early sunsets and dark evenings or perhaps it's the growing numbers of sequins sprouting up all over the shops. Of course I had to indulge being the mad Christmas fan I am. Just looking at these two tops makes me feel festive. I've already worn the gold one, as has my flatmate :), it has been particularly popular. I'm undecided about the white one as I am just not sure what to wear it with but I do love it. I feel like a child, or a magpie, in awe of all the sparkly shiney things. I already have my eye on a pair of silver glitter heels... tell me I am not the only one :).

Unrelated, NaNoWriMo next month guys. Anyone taking part? I am still undecided as I am still writing the novel I started during last years NaNoWriMo :). Granted I am on 21,000 words so I feel I am fairing well. I may not have crammed the 50,000 word target into a month but in a year I have developed an entire plot mentally, which is more than I have ever done before, and written about a third of what I need to to call it a proper novel. Last years NaNoWriMo gave me a great start if I didn't accomplish the aim and I did write 9,000 words in a month, which is impressive for me at least :). Who knows maybe I could write another nine thousand this november :).

I'm still a bit flu-ey but I am recovering so all is well. Back to studying and two exams next month... yeah I should probably go. Bye for now everyone :) xx

I have the flu! So this time I genuinely have an excuse for not blogging. And as usual when incapacitated the blogging ideas have been flowing. I here by promise to be an amazing blogger post illness :) but in the mean time I have been listing some things on ebay, some items of clothing that just don't get the love they deserve.
