I can actually relate this to videogames too as I have been a bit addicted to lemonade tycoon on the busrides home from work. Definitely a recommended timewaster from the app store. I also recently upgraded my touch to the 16gb 2g so I’m enjoying being able to fit video on as well. Well that’s all I’ve got for this pretty random post.

I was able to see the demo for this game not once but twice, and also got the great opportunity to sit down and interview Tom Nichols, LucasArts executive producer on the game. I am busy writing previews of everything I saw, but one of the coolest things I got to do was interview Dave Grossman, former LucasArts designer and current designer at Telltale, about their new series Tales of Monkey Island and his work in general. Well it’s probably surprising considering how much I am anticipating BioShock 2 that I had not yet beaten the original. But today I finally did it after struggling with PC issues with the game for months. My main computer is my laptop so that is what I tried to play it on first. It continually crashed, froze, and anything else imaginable to ruin my game every time I tried to play. I searched the Internet far and wide to try and find a solution but every potential solution I came across did not fix these issues.

Well after trying everything imaginable to fix it and giving up, I tried it on my desktop at my parents’ house and didn’t have any problems. But I just wasn’t home enough to beat it or was busy with other things (Social life? it’s more likely than you think). I didn’t bother trying it again on my laptop for a while because I knew it’d be a waste of time. So the furthest I got on my desktop playthrough was the beginning of Fort Frollic.

Well after quite a while of not trying it on my laptop, I decided to give it another spin as there had been some video driver updates since I last tried and I just really wanted to play the game. And almost miraculously, it worked. So I had my friend send me a save game starting at Fort Frollic (since my Windows on my desktop decided to die the night before I left for California) and beat the game in the next two days.

If this had been almost any other game I would have certainly given up. Issues like locking up and having to redo content I’ve already done is one of the main reasons I don’t finish a lot of PC games. But the fact that I stuck through it is a testament to how great a game 2k has made. I just hope they apply a finer level of polish to BioShock 2.
