Gabby Gingras is a 12-year-old with a very rare medical condition - she can't feel pain. While at first that may sound like a good thing, it actually isn't, because she and her family have no way of knowing when she's injured or sick. The condition is known as congenital insensitivity to pain with anhidrosis, often shortened to CIPA.

In this video from today's show, we see a day in Gabby's life, and Gabby talks about one of her favorite places, a camp for families that have kids with CIPA. The camp is called Camp Painless But Hopeful, and it was started by Tara and John Blocker, a couple raising a daughter with CIPA. A fun and healthy tradition has sprung up in "The Jeff Probst Show" offices. Every day at 5pm, a bunch of us gather in the hall and we all complete 20 push-ups and 20 sit-ups!

It began in our post-production department, when one of our assistant editors wanted to incorporate some movement into his days, since most of the time he's sitting behind computers and monitors. But a good idea spreads quickly, and now we have staffers from lots of department all taking a few minutes every day to do something healthy. We have people of all fitness levels - some people do pushups on their knees, while one of our production assistants does them with a clap in between each one!

In 1976, three men in Chowchilla, California abducted 26 school children and their bus driver and forced them into a moving van that had been buried in a nearby quarry. After 16 hours underground, all 27 people successfully escaped and the three kidnappers were caught, convicted, and sent to prison.

One of those kidnappers, Richard Schoenfeld, was released on parole earlier this year, and another kidnapper, Frederick Woods, is up for parole soon. On today's show, Jodi and Lynda, two of the survivors, told their harrowing story, and shared how to help keep Woods and James Schoenfeld, the third kidnapper, behind bars: by writing a letter to the parole board expressing that you think these men shouldn't be freed.

Here are some things to remember when writing your letter. You'll need to include the inmates' names and CDC (California Department of Corrections) numbers. Fred Woods' number is B90399, and James Schoenfeld's is B90400.

Be sure to also include this note on the letter: "Please place this in the inmate's central file." And while your return address can be on the envelope, there's no need to put your address or contact info on the letter itself. Lastly, letters can be sent to:

On today's show, Jeff talked with Shyima Hall, who was 8 years old when she was sold into slavery in her home country of Egypt. Two years later, she was smuggled into the United States, where she continued her life as a slave in the home of a wealthy family until a concerned neighbor called the police.

While Shyima's story sounds outrageous in this day and age, it's actually more common than you may think. Ross, our researcher at 'The Jeff Probst Show,' compiled some statistics, and simply put, they are jaw-dropping.

Modern-day slavery is called human trafficking, and, as defined under U.S. federal law, victims of human trafficking include children involved in the sex trade, adults who are coerced or deceived into commercial sex acts, and anyone forced into different forms of "labor or services," including domestic workers held in a home and farm workers forced to labor against their will. When you add up all forms of human trafficking, it’s estimated that there are hundreds of thousands of victims in the United States every year.

When you factor in human trafficking around the world, the picture gets even bleaker. According to the U.S. Department of State, there were over 12 million slaves worldwide in 2010. Over 1 million of those slaves were children, and a majority of the rest were between 18-24 years old. Thirty two percent of the victims were exploited for manual labor, of which 56% were women and girls.

For more information about human trafficking, head to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC), which has a national, toll-free hotline that you can call to report a tip or receive confidential help. In 2011, the NHTRC answered nearly 20,000 calls, reported over 750 human trafficking cases to law enforcement, and helped nearly 3,000 victims.
