I still remember, when I worked at a sporting-goods store in high school, my manager telling me that a customer will tell two people about a positive shopping experience but will tell seven people about a bad one. I can't say how valid those numbers are, but the gist rings true: Conversations between consumers about brands are far more influential than any advertisement has been or ever will be...

Personally I've really been enjoying Rdio and am looking forward to sinking my teeth into the new version for iPhone. I held out for the longest time while many friends dove headfirst into Rdio or Spotify. I told myself that I just didn't listen to enough music to pay for the service... but that was just a self-fulfilling prophecy. Now that I am actively paying for it I find myself seeking out new music regularly. I'm late to the game but thanks to Arthur I've now got The Heist in heavy rotation. For me, it's all about the recommendations (since I lean heavily on friends for new music) so having them right there in mobile should be big.

If you've been hesitating to subscribe to a music service I recommend you try it out. It's one of those services where the more you use it... the more you want to use it.
