blink-182 Is Back - Really.

blink-182 is officially back and better than ever. My favorite band is back! Honestly, I thought this day would never come, however, it did last Sunday at the Grammys where all three members (Mark Hoppus, Tom DeLonge, and Travis Barker) took the stage together and made the announcement. So aside from being ecstatic about it, I just want to address a couple points.

First off, from what I understand Angels & Airwaves isn’t going anywhere - they will still be around.

Second, blink will be touring this summer!

Third, both Angels & Airwaves and blink are working on new albums!

blink-182 Is Back! (At Least For One Night)

This is perhaps some of the most exciting news thus far of 2009 for blink-182 fans - according to MTV blink-182 will be reuniting to present awards at the Grammys this Sunday! I am stoked! This is huge news to me and most likely the other millions of fans out there. While they are not supposed to be play any songs, it would be a great surprise to see them make a performance.

Additionally, there have been rumors that these clips of supposed Angels & Airwaves demo’s are actually new blink-182 demo’s. You can listen for yourself here:

Boys Like Girls DVD

The Boys Like Girls - Read Between The Lines DVD is definitely a must buy for any fans - it’s jam packed with content ranging from interviews and backstage footage to my favorite the live concert footage. The footage is from 3 shows, however, it’s been put together to appear as one show, and I must say, the video editing is phenomenal - seriously. The editors really did a fantastic job stitching everything together. It is literal seamless.

The band is rockin’ too, you can tell they were giving each performance everything they had and that is something as a fan I love to see.

One of the best live DVD’s I have seen for a while, it is definitely right up there with Taking Back Sunday: Louder Now Part 2.

What Are My Tweets Worth?

What are your tweets worth anyway? Good question. MagPie Twitter is a new tool/service which will not only tell you what your tweet’s may be worth, but will help you monetize them by advertising in your twitter stream.

According to this site I can rake in (possibly) another roughly $45/month. Is it worth it though? Well, that’s up to you. You can customize it in terms of how often you allow it to post the advertisements. It can be as often as one advertisement for every tweet or even as little one advertisement for every twenty tweets (or even less if you like).

Now that being said, you could potentially lose followers which would then hurt your projected “tweet worth” and if you use your twitter account as a tool for promotion (driving people to your site), you could potentially be hurting yourself. How so? Well, if twitter drives people to your site and you have advertising on your site which most likely makes you more than $45/month assuming you publish somewhat regularly and have a decent sized site by losing followers you are losing traffic and thus losing advertising dollars.

Found a pretty neat theme today after I installed the latest beta of WordPress (2.7 beta 1). What can I say about WordPress 2.7 beta 1? Well, for one, it’s sleek! WordPress has completely revamped the WP Admin panel this time and no, it’s much more than just a new color scheme. The UI has been redesigned to what I believe is much friendlier and more intuitive. One of the major features I’m greatly looking forward to in WordPress 2.7 is the new comment system which will support threading.

Big thumbs up to the WordPress team on this release (well, future release) it looks like it will be solid.

I Voted

Today, I voted in my first election. I’m excited and proud that I was able to vote in this historic election. I’m glad I finally can have a say in the United States government and who gets to run it. It is definitely important that everyone get out there and vote today, not only because it’s a historic election, but because it’s a very important one. The issues at stake here are high and for those who think that their vote doesn’t count, it really doesn’t if you don’t go to the polls and enter it.

Get out there and vote!

The Key To Success

What does it take to be successful in life? Of course, success is defined differently by everyone, however, the two main kinds of success (at least in my opinion) are personal success and business success. So what’s it take to get to the point where you (or others) can consider yourself a success?

I have been wondering this myself lately, I have been pouring a lot of my time and energy into building up BestTechie.net and improving it but has it worked? - Will discuss that in a bit!

A lot of people say hard work is the key to success and I myself used to think that too until I had an epiphany. The key to success is…are you ready? Creativity. HOLY CRAP! You mean its not hard work? Not based on what I’ve seen over the past 6-8 months. I’m not saying hard work doesn’t pay off, what I’m saying is sure you can be a hard worker, but if you’re not creative you will eventually hit a brick wall.

Why is creativity the key to success? Well, in order to be creative you generally need to think outside of the box and read between the lines. If you are creative you will find yourself advance much faster in the world. The more you create, the more chances you’ll hit upon something that is a success. The more you think outside the box, the more potential employers will like you and the faster you will move up the ranks.

I should also mention based on what I have seen most people who are creative are generally pretty hard workers to begin with.

As for BestTechie.net it’s working.

Just a few thoughts of mine, I’m interested to see what you guys think. Leave a comment?
