After a momentary look of confusion, the little girl continued to dance bigger and laugh louder and added in some finger pointing to her moves, making her family laugh even more.

Yes it is very confusing to be expressing happiness and have someone make a face, judge, complain, and so on. So if someone disapproves of what you’re doing and tries to correct you, the best thing you can do is just keep on dancing!

During my travels and in between portrait sessions I love photographing beautiful sights in nature, especially flowers. I’ve created a site dedicated completely to my personal art work. I hope you’ll visit the site and enjoy looking around. 1) Smile. Right now. For 5 seconds straight. A BIG full smile and then laugh out loud. Now you’re probably really laughing…at yourself or at me. Either way, you’re laughing!

2) Grab a paper and pen. Write down a big dream you have.

3) Look at the paper you just wrote your dream on and say to yourself “I can do this!”

4) Go find someone and ask them what their dream is. You help just by asking because they get to say their dream out loud and then it feels even more possible.

5) Hug yourself. Yes, right now. And say to yourself “I’m fantastic”. Are you laughing again? Great. This day is happy.

I had the honor of working with Debra a few times throughout this project to photograph her for her author portraits and to photograph some behind the scenes and portraits of her video shoot. He Did You A Favor is brilliant and is going to help soooo many people.  Getting to see Debra tell her stories for the video shoot gave me a new outlook on the past and a lesson in letting go and healing. Most of us have been through some yucky ex-relationships and to think about it as “He Did You A Favor” is so healing. I remember thinking during Debra’s shoots that I was thankful to all those of the past because it didn’t work out which left me open and free to meet my wonderful, sweet, loving, caring, amazing husband. If you ever catch yourself looking around and thinking how “great” it is for someone else, they’ve made it, they have it all, etc.,…remember nobody has a perfect life. No matter how pretty it looks from the outside. We all have down days here and there. Probably more helpful to look around and think we’re all in this together and what can we do to have most days be up days.
