I found the first song I ever recorded from over 10 years ago.  Brought back memories of the who I wrote this with (my best friend at the time, Nick Mullin — Nicky… I miss you, man!), what I wrote it about and WHY I wrote it.  Amazing how the words still connect with where I am in life now.  Some things never change.

What was the first song/poem/story you wrote about?

We haven’t been able to use the garages in our last 3 homes because the Durango has been too huge of a beast or the garages were too small.  That along with not being in one home long enough to really unpack and get settled.

Well… this time… I wasn’t about to wait.  Brian and I made it a top priority to get our home settled as soon as humanly possible so we could feel like we were finally “home”.  Our kids deserve that.  WE deserve that.

We obviously can’t park the Volvo in here due to Chance’s drum kit… but who cares.  We’re totally unpacked and settled.

I am continually blown away by how amazingly wonderful this little boy is.  He completes our family… he makes us even better than we could have ever known.

Pax is easy-going, cuddly, mostly happy, and easily MADE happy when upset.  His face lights up when Chance, Brian or I walk into the room.  His laugh is contagious.  Brian and I are praying that he will have an amazing impact on this world one day.  Knowing his personality now, I’m sure God will do GREAT things through him.

His current “statuses”:

• His two bottom baby teeth are out and sharp as ever.
• He’s crawling… FAST.
• He can pull himself up to standing.
• He can SOMETIMES get himself back down
• He only sleeps 6 hours at night. Ugh!
• He can feed himself little snacks.

I love that he’s growing into his personality… but I wouldn’t mind if he’d stay a baby a bit longer too

P.S.  Today is my sister, Renee, and my brother-in-law, Jason’s, wedding anniversary.  Happy first year.  I think your first years’ gift is paper.  If you print this up, this will be by gift to you.  Sorry… the economy, ya know.

P.P.S.  Today would also have been Scott Resnick’s 40th birthday.  Happy Birthday, Skilly!  We still miss you.

My mom was here for the weekend, but she had to leave Saturday afternoon.  Here she is with her two grandsons.

In the evening, we went to Holly’s with the McKenney’s (Jay & Alli) and the Fraser’s (Mike & Janet).  It was a beautiful day… with even more beautiful company.

I’m not sure why… but I had a zit on my back Holly and Erin were totally obsessed with.  That’s what those pictures are all about… and by the way… they NEVER got it.  Yep… it’s still there.  *sigh*

We merged with Somerset.  They’re Pastor is on vacation so Matt was invited to speak.  Since we’re so close in proximity… AND we actually have our office space IN their church… we combined both church bodies this morning and worshiped together.

Highlights: It was a total blast playing and singing with Aaron, Nick and Mark.  Also… because we were at Somerset, we set up on Thursday night when we practice.  All we did this morning was show up, plug in, warm up and VOILA!  Like butta!!!  I was really cool to worship with another church body.  This is SUCH a rare privilege.  Seriously awesome!  Some of the transitions we as the band came up were seriously rad.  There’s nothing better than a RAD transition from one song to the next.  I also liked seeing Nick and Aaron sitting the same way… in their own pews.  Don’t know why… but this was a highlight too.

Lowlights: Holiday weekends always mean a smaller attendance.  Today was no different.  People were claiming their independence from church!  HA!  Another low… Feeling like I still had gunpowder in my throat and sinuses from the fireworks last night.  Really… that’s about it.  Well… obviously, I missed some musical cues… but that’s a normal daily occurrence… so whatever.  It was a great day!

And now… I’m leaving you with the live recording of our transition between Grace Like Rain & Desert Song.  Actually… I’ll leave you ALL of Desert Song, in case you want to hear it.  Just ignore the end when we somehow derailed a bit and weren’t really playing together anymore.  Oops!
