Meet my Leo

For nine months, I knew I was having a baby. We had seen him in the ultrasounds, heard his heart beating. I’d watched my belly grow every month and felt his kicks, getting stronger and stronger until it seemed like he was trying to bust his way out through my belly button. I knew I was having a baby. But nothing prepared me for how I would feel when I saw him for the first time and he completely knocked me over with love.

Leopold Jude (Leo) is over two weeks old now, noticeably bigger than when we first brought him home from the hospital. I know that’s a good thing–he’s eating well and gaining weight like a pro– but somehow it also breaks my heart that he’s growing up so fast! Part of me wants him to stay this tiny forever and ever, where my husband can cradle his entire body in his forearm. The other part of me looks at him and grows in excitement every day over all the amazing moments that are down the road.

I love you, my Leo.

Mother’s Day Charity Portrait Special

There’s a great big holiday coming up on May 12th–Mother’s Day!! If you know someone (are are someone) who is looking for the perfect gift to give the mama of your babies, think about a family portrait session. It would mean the world to Mom and score some major points for Dad

For $350, the sessions include:

1 hour of coverage (in your home or another favorite place of yours as a family)
50 edited image files, sized for printing up to 8X10″ with personal copyrights
Online image gallery for viewing and purchasing archival enlargements
Two 11″x14″ prints for display in your home

$52 of each session fee will go to The International Rescue Committee to provide the maternal healthcare that one woman living in a crisis zone needs for a healthy pregnancy and delivery. That’s a lot of good being done while giving a gift!

Seattle Newborn Photography: Vivienne Elayne

This is sweet Vivienne. I know Vivi and her parents, Suzy & Michael, through my prenatal group–Centering–with the midwifery team at Swedish in Ballard. I can’t say enough good things about this program! We knew we wanted the experience of having our baby with a midwife rather than a doctor, but we also wanted the reassurance of delivering in a hospital, just to be on the safe side. The midwives at Swedish Ballard totally fit the bill. And on top of that, we were able to enroll in Centering, which means that all of our prenatal appointments are actually group appointments with 7 other couples, all due in the same month. I can’t tell you how great it’s been to have this new network of friends, all going through the exact same things we are.

And it means I get to meet and hold a lot of adorable newborn babies, just like Vivienne

This is Lucinda O’Halloran, the creative energy behind Spirit Garden Design. As well as complete landscape design, she does short coaching sessions which not a lot of landscape designers offer. I had her over for a jaunt around the yard of our newly purchased home to learn how to maintain and improve it–and I found out how much is already there that I really had no idea of! I highly recommend having this lady over if you’re in a new home and don’t know what’s going on in your backyard, like me

We shot Lucinda’s session at Swanson’s Nursery in North Seattle, and it served as the perfect backdrop.

Green Lake Engagement Session: Matt & Rosie

Matt and Rosie are getting married in just a couple short months down in San Francisco at Golden Gate Park, and they just happen to be two very good friends of mine! Couldn’t be happier for these two lovebirds We had a great time scuddling around (is that a word?) Green Lake and their neighborhood in Ballard to shoot some engagement photos, and their doggie, Stella, even joined us for a few.

Treehouse Point Engagement: Janessa & Simon

I had so much fun with Janessa and Simon during their engagement session at Treehouse Point in Fall City! They’re having their wedding here in July, and it seemed like the perfect place for them to do a fun shoot showing who they are as a couple. What an amazing venue–I kept telling them how jealous I was that they get to tie the knot at Treehouse Point and how I wish I could do my wedding a second time just to have it here. If you don’t know this place, they have a bunch of treehouses in the woods for guests to stay in, which are basically like miniature hotel rooms in trees. It is a magical place.
