Break Time Over!!

At my little boy’s request after a busy fall, I took a break from working so much. I can’t lie and say that it wasn’t much needed, because it was, but this girl is ready to take on 2012!!! So to get my creative juices going, I joined the Chattanooga Showiteers Shootout on February 26th. It was absolutely amazing and I felt so refreshed and completely in my element! Such a fun day!!! A huge thanks to the models:: Melanie, Devante,Taylor, and Zack – you guys were amazing!!!!!

Lemon Juice Facial

Lately I have been all about skin care. Home concoctions or department store brands, I’ve been on a mini mission to find something to give my skin that extra boost it’s been craving since the summer glow disappeared a long time ago. Well let me add, since I have found a little bit of skin damage from that lovely summer glow. And while my attempts to correct the damage may be a little too late, I have a little comfort knowing that my efforts will help in the long run to prevent future damage and to fight against fine lines and lack luster skin.

If you are like me, your face can feel really dry after using a cleanser and toner. So naturally I put on a daily moisturizer. But what if you want to spice things up a bit but you are scared that a facial might make your skin even drier?! Well, this little concoction I found online beats just about any store brand product I have tried. All you need is lemon juice and sugar. I use the lemon juice you buy in the little lemon shaped bottles in the produce section. For sugar I use the white granulated, but you could use brown sugar if that’s what you have.

Wash your face with a mild soap to get make up off.Rinse with warm water.Squirt your cleanser pad with lemon juice – I’m liberal with this.Sprinkle the pad with sugar.Rub all over your face in small circles avoiding your eyes – I promise it will burn your eyes. Ouch!!!Let sit for a couple of minutes.Rinse with warm water again.

*If it burns a little, you might want to dilute the lemon juice with some water.

My skin felt so soft and smooth afterwards – absolutely amazing!! However, if you are trying this for the first time, I would suggest not doing it the day of your wedding or engagement session. You know… just in case..

Success what?!

This year one of my resolutions was to journal more – or write more. It always seems to remind me of where I’ve been, where I am, and where I want to go next. Not only that, I also can see where God is working in every single entry. After reading last year’s entries I realized that it was a tough year for me. I was not at peace with myself, and felt as though I was a slave to my business. Always looking at other photographer’s work and wondering if I would ever be as successful. How idiotic is that?! How could I ever compare my photography journey to someone else’s?!!! Every single person has a different definition of what success is. All I need to do is figure out my definition.

In a society where it is expected that to be successful you must be young, beautiful, extremely skinny, and rich, it is easy to see how a person can loose sight of what’s really important. Those things are only a brief version of success. You will inevitably get older, eat a cupcake, and spend too much cash. I’m looking to define a longer version of success. One that includes joy, love, forgiveness, happiness, experiences, and good hard work. I don’t want an end result of one ultimate success and that’s it. I want more than that. After stepping back and looking at my life, I feel like I’m on my way. Here are just a few of the things I’ve accomplished::

I am a child of God, forgiven by grace, and saved by mercy!!!
I’m married to one of the hardest working men I have ever met. I believe he truly loves me, is my best friend, and is my biggest supporter. He believes in me when I don’t, and is pretty funny, too!
Every morning I get to hug the neck of a little boy who calls me Mommy. He is, by far, the greatest gift Sean and I have been blessed with. Wade is my heart and soul.
I am seriously blessed to do what I do. I have ~~a job~~ two jobs. One gives me the peace of mind I need for health benefits and the ability to focus on what I love, and the other is my passion. I love both, and feel like I have been given wonderful opportunities to grow and take risks. It is amazing!!!

I’m so excited for this year, for all of the journeys I will get to experience, and can’t wait to read my entries from the entire year. The victories, the failures, and everything in between. Let’s go!!!
